Three emails on November 16th.
I apologize if this has been written on the blog somewhere but I looked and found nothing so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. Is there any more info on Iron Covenant #2/why is was delayed?
Hello! As always, I love your books. Was just wondering if there addre any new updates on releases and perspective dates. Currently on the website all really has is that Iron and Magic 2 is delayed. Just wondering if there are any new dates to possibly look forward to.
I hope you are all having a great holiday season,
When are you going to update your release page?
The release page is up to date. We haven’t started IRON COVENANT #2, because we are busy writing sequel to SAPPHIRE FLAMES. It was delayed because of the medical emergency in the family. When we have some concrete dates, we will list them on the release page. Thank you.
Pristine says
Nonetheless, have a fun weekend! Thank you for the update^^
Torin says
Thanks for putting up with us.

And I’d even say a HUGE thanx for putting up with us since some people tend do be…not that good, as evidenced by some examples, sad to see that. Being an author is not easy at all.
Definitely do look forward to Iron Covenant #2, but so I am also for next Catalina’s book.
Whatever works best for you will be just fine with me .
Hope you guys have a lovely day π
Ilona says
I don’t mind at all if people ask about release dates. π That means they are waiting for the book. I just don’t have anything to share.
MRB says
Not entirely true. You can, and just did, share when it is NOT going to be released. I can put a note on my calendar to check for updates six months from now and not have to worry about it every day between now and then. Less clutter in my brain.
Thank you.

At least you have trained us to look at the release page. Now we just have to believe that it contains all relevant information. :-0))
Dave says
I agree with the above comment. Not having new information is an update. Just having a line on the site saying “data current to xx/xx/xxxx” is useful, because as the above person stated, it means 1. you care about this part of your website (a number of authors are years and books behind on their “current work” page) and 2 we can push the calendar back

Thank you for the update! Iβm just in the midst of a reread of Hidden Legacies and still love it. This series would be such a great mini-series.
Jackie says
+1 love this series
Adrienne Suber says
So true
Debi Majo says
Just know that your stories are addicting! Iβve re-read Iron Covenant about a dozen times and can see Hugh sprawled in a chair… okay, time for another cold shower…????
MaryF says
+1 Likewise on the cold shower!
Amy says
On my last reread, I caught that he has a shaved chest. I spent a full five minutes fixated on wondering why and when and how. Now I’ll still occasionally catch myself thinking “Hugh manscapes?!β
Shahin says
How did I miss that! Now have to re-read, naturally to find out if chest details are correct
Maria says
Really what chapter and what page?
Jami says
The audio book is fantastic! Would love this as a mini series withHenry Cavil as Hugh.
Shari says
Sorry about your family’s emergency! How ever long it takes, whatever order you write your books in, I’m reading them. I’m sure most of your fans feel the same way I do. Would we be happy to have an earlier release? Of course. But you guys’writing is definitely worth the wait.
Emily says
Sorry you were nagged but hopefully it comes across as our enthusiasm for more Hugh & Elara! Love all your books & your characters (including Julie!) but the next Iron Covenant is the one I am most looking forward to. Hope the doctors have figured out a good treatment plan for the headaches. Nothing is more stressful for a parent than a kid in agony.
I’m waiting patiently because I want writing it to be a joy for you.
Ilona says
I don’t consider it nagging. π
Karen says
I appreciate that about you. Some authors (and their seriously overprotective fans) are a bit hypersensitive over questions about time frames. A simple, polite question can result in excoriation.
Bill Beyer says
Thanks! I’d been wondering where that next Iron & Magic novel was. Now I won’t join the chorus of ‘Where is it?’.
Andrea C says
I LOVE Roman from the Kate Daniels series. Is there still a possibility of a Roman book or short story in the future? I really want Roman to have his own HEA.
Kristi says
Ahhhhh!!!!!!!! That is exciting!!!
njb says
I figured on big delays given your summer was not exactly relaxing. Thanks much for the update! Hope things are moving more smoothly for House Andrews these days.
Emily says
Thank you for clarifying! I have also really been wondering about the next Iron Covenant. It seems like it hadnβt been mentioned in quite a while. Iβm looking forward to it, and waiting is hard, but you have your priorities correct: family comes first.
Suz says
Thank you for being so patient with us if the hoard. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

(waiting waiting waiting). When *I* rule the world, writers will have perfect lives so they can write all the time and don’t have to worry about things like medical emergencies or flooded offices or hurricanes.
I’m holding your kid in the light. I have friends with chronic migraines and they suck. And I’m waiting as patiently as I can for the next book whatever it is (and the book after that… ad infinitum). In the meantime I just ordered Kate book 1 for my niece. And am accidentally rereading the series.
(Accidentally because I told Google Home to play the audiobook and Kate 1 was the book queued… Now, 8 books later… I’m thinking my 16 year old would like it and it might make the trip this next weekend go faster. He has a reading disability and doesn’t understand how I can read all the time. But audiobooks have captured his imagination in the past).
Barrie says
You have my vote, go forth and rule!!! Not only do you have a great campaign platform (honoring our gods, the authors, with perfect lives), but you also sound like a great parent.
I have a 15 year old autistic son with writing problems. I use the same technique, find what will interest them and hope it segues into more. Sometimes scholastic books just arenβt what will trigger a kid to read or write. My son just joined the Dungeons and Dragons club at school and I found him in his room with his iPad and a notebook filled with notes on characters and campaigns. Success!!! Heβs voluntarily writing!
Sarah says
Thank you for the update. Love all your work.
JenMo says
Iβm currently listening to Iron & Magic and Iβm impressed at how well and subtle Hughβs own self-discovery is woven through the book. Most of which I missed on my first reading. It feels like the most important conflict in the book, who Hugh thought he was vs who he wants to be. So well done!
Karen says
I appreciate that about you. Some authors (and their seriously overprotective fans) are a bit hypersensitive over questions about time frames. A simple, polite question can result in excoriation.
kommiesmom says
Sorry we bugged you, but glad to know what’s going on.
Thank you for being patient with our enthusiasm. It’s just that we love your books and hate to wait for more of our favorite goodies.
And then you’re so nice about it.
We’ll try to do better, but I wouldn’t bet money on the outcome…
Angela Knight says
Glad your daughter is doing better. You guys awe me with your production schedule. I donβt know how you do it!
Jaclie says
+1 I tried nanowrimo and taped out in day 15 due to family and work.
Kirstin says
Remember when some jerk thought you shouldn’t/couldn’t write a Hugh book? Now everybody is salivating over the next one.
Amy says
The April fool’s joke that backfired!
Shana Pare says
We love you two and we love your books, some of them more than others. So, if we are querying you about one series, we would be asking about another one. You have no hopes of winning!
Celina says
With the few authors I actively buy new books for, I like to be pleasantly surprised when a new book comes out rather than paying attention and be constantly waiting. In either case I know I’ll devour the book as soon as it comes out. LOL

Right now I’m re-reading the Innkeeper series… Still just as fun as ever. π
I mean, I’m reading other stuff as well (I tend to have at least 2 books going) — I’ve tried a lot of the authors recommended by the BDH, and they’re generally “okay” to “really good” — but there’s nothing like the Real (IA) Deal! I often mull over what it is about House Andrews’ writing that floats my boat so well, but it’s kind of elusive: seems to be some combo of intelligence and principled caring in the characters, leavened with humor, that is just irresistible to me. Also there always seems to be a real-world grounding that underlies characters’ feelings/actions, even in the most fantastical setting, if that makes any sense. Anyway, like the rest of the BDH, I’m always wanting more! but trying to wait patiently…
Patricia Schlorke says
Thank you for letting use know about Hugh and Elara’s book. When it comes, it comes. π
I hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving. I know it’s very early. However, I’m going out of town this upcoming Friday.
Jim Huffman says
I think there are more than a few of us chomping at the bit waiting (not so patiently) for more books!!
Cindy says
Turning Hugh into an interesting and compelling character was quite an accomplishment. Well done. One of my favorite lines in MAGIC TRIUMPHS is when Hugh tells Elara “You knew I was an asshole when you married me”.
More Catalina is also wonderful.
Sandy says
THANK YOU.
Ayana says
If you released a book every month, I’d read each one as soon as it came out. If you only wrote a book once a decade, I’d still read it on release day. (Although, I’d probably need therapy to combat the separation anxiety afterward. LOL) So, you do you, and I’ll be here for you. Mostly patient. Always grateful. π
CJ Evans says
Writing is a craft, and well done writing is a craft that takes time. It also takes the proper headspace, and worrying yourself sick because your kid is sick and You Cannot Fix It (the true hell dimension in my opinion) does not create that headspace. I understand totally. So books get finished when they get finished, and I enjoy the results of a lot of effort, frustration and sheer artistry when it is ready. Love and hope for the best for you always.
LW says
Thanks for keeping up updated!

I do take the positive path with these three emails, job security. I am fairly certain that you both know that you have a long writing future ahead but, sometimes, itβs nice when it is confirmed. I am excited for all of your future stories. Sorry about the family emergency and I hope that there are none in your future. Thank you for the stories you have put out and those to come.
Cathy Parker says
Wishing you and your daughter the best
Amy says
Cool Beans. Can’t wait for Cat’s next book.
Sharon Fletcher says
As much as we want your books, I am pretty sure that none of us would say that our entertainment is more important than your daughter’s health.
HSP says
Sorry to hear of any medical emergencies. I hope all ended well and as painless as possible. Sending positive thoughts and prayers and always thanks for sharing ????
jewelwing says
How is the medical mystery solution coming? I’ve been hoping you all were getting some satisfaction or resolution on that. Medicine is both a science and an art, of course, which can be comforting or infuriating depending upon circumstances.
Ms. Kim says
In all of your many series I’ve particularly liked how well drawn and multi-dimensional your side characters are. For instance the young adults in the Edge series. I was so happy to see them show up in the Innkeeper series. Then the introduction of the very young Helen again in Innkeeper. I’ve always found the Middle School age interesting (I’ve been a substitute teacher for them) but I didn’t think it would be possible to make a 5 year old more than 2 dimensional. What you’ve done with Helen’s thought process and motivation is so interesting. Then my particular favorite – Leon. I so anguished over him, given his talent. I actually worried over how he could find a path using his gift that wouldn’t be a sniper or assassin. That’s why I thought of ROTC and Officer candidate school. So, I guess its the side characters that keep me hooked even over bumpy patches.
Ms. Kim says
I particularly like your multi-dimensional side characters, such as the young adults from the Edge series. I was so happy to see them show up in the Innkeeper series. Also in Innkeeper, Helen was an unexpected surprise. I didn’t think it was possible to make a 5 year old more than 2-dimensional. But her thought process and motivations are so realistic as well as interesting. Then there is my personal favorite, Leon. I was so worried about him and what his path into adulthood would be, given his gift. That was why I thought about ROTC for him or Officer Candidate school, so that he wouldn’t be a sniper or assassin (I used to me a Middle School substitute teacher and you can’t help sometimes seeing what you think they’ll be like as adults). These side characters really pull me through what you think are bumpy patches in your books. I especially liked the Klingon dragon horses (I think you know what I’m referring to). I could read a ton more about them. Thank-you very much.
Tina says
Fans of your books are patient as we know good writing takes time. We also understand family emergencies and the other stuff that sometimes interferes with your schedules. You also have to be in a good frame of mind to write what you and Gordon create. We only grumble because we just love reading what you write. I had just finished Silver Shark, the last book or yours that I had not read so I was “slightly” bummed. I must have made a sound because my husband asked what was wrong. I told him. The love of my life understood. He’s a keeper as well. I enjoyed the Kinsmen series as I enjoy all your other series and will wait, mostly patiently, for whatever is next.
Teresa says
Coming from the book world I know how to wait (NOT,lol) for new books. I just reread all my favs. I’m rereading the Celta series from Robin D. Owens while waiting for you and Jessie Mihalik to come out with your next books.
Katie says
Thank you so much for tolerating the constant stream of demands, some more polite than others, for more of your addictive stories and updates on when we can anticipate devouring them.
You are awesome! Literally. I am in awe of your talent, imagination, and seemingly bottomless well of patience regarding this blog.
Aarya says
Happy to wait for as long as it takes!
Lorie says
I hope everyone in your family is well and healthy now. ????
