The problem is, I love both. They both bring something different to the table. Maud and Arland have this epic romance and the intricacies of vampire culture. Maud’s upbringing gives us insight into other cultures as well. But if I *had* to pick, I would pick Dina. Because the inn gives us a much more readily available range of species and worlds and in depth descriptions of political intrigue. The inn by its very nature gives us a broader canvas, so it’s really hard. Maud and Arland might be more interesting and compatible, but I couldn’t choose them over the whole inn system.
Martha says
I agree. I wouldn’t mind if they do a little of both either. I would be very happy.
g027 says
Yes this is how I feel as well

Same here. 🙂

I agree! If pushed Dina. I really want both and love the innkeeper.

Richard Cartwright says
In an ideal world I would love to see books alternate between the Inn and Maud and Arland, with occasional cross overs. You clearly set the stage for things to happen at the end of the last two books, so i assume you have an arc or two planned out.
At the same time you have acknowledged that Innkeeper is not a bread and butter series like Hidden Legacy and Iron Covenant . I would love to see a lot more in that universe, but I am not paying your bills, so…. 🙂

I think both bring different things to the series and I have enjoyed both the Dina books and Mauds book equally – so I’ll enjoy whichever you write.
Michelle says
I completely agree with this. I too would love to see the books alternate. I was hoping we would hear about Klaus in future books as well.
Kathleen says
+1 I was hoping we would hear about Klaus in future books to
Amanda says
I want to know more about Dina and Sean…. but I really want to know about Klaus and their parents disappearance. 🙂

Yeah, that.

but…. I really want the third sibling… KLAUS!!! what’s going on with that and Michael?!?
sorry, you give me three excellent choices and I have to go with #4.
RJ Blain says
I really like them both, but I would die (in a good way) for more Dina and Sean. Just my two cents, squeeeee~
Ann says
Both are excellent! I do want more Maude and Arland, since we only have one of her so far, but I’m sure I’ll love whatever is sparking *your* creativity.
Chelsy says
Love both ❤️
Write the story you want to tell!
Anna-Elise Price says
I love all the characters, and I think the two sisters should reunite regularly.
Shau says
I just can’t pick. I love both stories and whichever you write I’ll love it. Just don’t stop writing!!
Carrie Bartkowiak says
Whatever you two enjoy writing, and what will support you.
Honestly, I’ll read anything you publish. You’re that good. I want you two to be happy so that you write a lot, and well-compensated so you’re not stressed and can therefore write a lot. 😀
Orlana Curry says
Both of the sisters please. I care about both families.
Melissa Brisentine says
Well I have read Maudes book 6 times.
Dervish says
I’ve loved all three of the Innkeeper stories. If I had to pick, I’d concentrate on Earth and how the Innkeepers interact with the galaxy, but to be fair I’m going to read it anyway – because your writing has been lots of fun.
Lora says
I love them both! Thank you for all y’all do!
Sheryl says
I depend on your creativity. It’s your vision, not mine.
Melissa Buckley says
I can’t choose – love them both for different reasons!
JenS says
I would choose Dina and Sean, partly because it seems more likely to get to Klaus through the Inn.
AR says
THE. WEDDING!!!!!!!
Waunalife says
Don’t get me wrong. I love both sisters equally, but we had an excellent book with Maud. I’m ready for another Dina—especially if we get to revisit George and gang!
akk says
Any and all would be good, though I am a bit more partial to Dina and the Inn (and not just because my first name is Adina, though my mom never wanted it shortened to Dina or Adi so ended up going by middle name). But would be fun to see more of George and gang as well in the mix. Perhaps a bit of ‘cat and dog’ fireworks if Jack ends up falling for a werewolf visiting the Inn at the same time (with of course some sort of intrigue and adventure thrown in).
Chantey says
Currently I really want to see what is going to happen with Maud and Klaus. But I love Dina and the elements the inn brings. I just found the meeting of Their parents and would love to hear more about them too. Or of Caldenia. Or of al of them. My favorite.
Melissa Fouse says
Keep ’em coming! Either or both!
Stephanie says
I need a “I want to read about all of them” button. ????
Talitha says
Yay! People agree with me!
Aleea Brewer says
I voted I didn’t want to pick. I would have preferred one more button, “A bit of both”. I really like both, but I would love to know why Klaus is coming to see Maud and if he is going to go see Dina. About time we figured out what happened to their parents too. So, I am greedy. I want it all.
Billie Dee says
All of them!
Ellen Solensky says
On the other hand , I luuve the Inn. However, I trust you guys, so whatever.
Katymom says
Which of my children do I like best?
Anita says
I want to find out about their parents!
Laura says
So I truly love this whole world and will cherish anything. What about a prequel with the parents leading up to the disappearance or them and their Inn? Seriously though it doesnt matter I will devour any and all stories you choose to write.
Barbara says
Can’t pick. I adore all of them. I terribly miss Orro and all the inn. But I adore reading about the Helen and co.
So, I couldn’t pick.
I’ll add, you guys can write whatever you feel like, and I will devour it and love it.
Sorry for not being helpful
R Coots says
Maud and Arland and fighting would be awesome and I’d love to see it,but watching Dina and Sean settle into being innkeepers together and all the various people they’d meet through that would be even better 🙂
Lmh says
I love Maud and Arland, bit the best scenes are of the family all together at the Inn.
Susan says
Dina, Shawn and the Inn. Arland and Maud come to help.
Jillian says
Actually both, but I freaking LOVE the Inn. All the different guests and when she has to visit different worlds, and the power and utter coolness of the inn magic. Ughhhh I love it all!! And when we get cameos from the Edge series (whee!).
Jill says
I love both as well and can’t wait to read more!
B says
Mostly I want to know what happened to mom and dad
Karri says
Love them both equally for different reasons. Just re read the series. Whatever you gives me works 🙂
Jenn says
I love it all!!!
Other Barbara says
What a choice! I would enjoy an arc involving the missing DeMille parents, Helen, new Inn developments and perhaps a alpha werewolf cub/innkeeper child. Heck I would be happy for our hedgehog chef Orro to find a life partner while fending off wicked lower rank blue cleaver jealous chefs.
Of course.. Hugh. Julie. Hidden Legacy books 1-12.
Certain series apparently continued to be written the author’s offspring, so forget your life’s goals Kid 1&2 cause we happy wingnut followers will want you chained to your parents visionary books!
Andrea says
I pick all the things LOL Whatever one you wish to write about. I will read.
Rebecca Stewart says
I love ALL your books. Thank you.
Paula says
I love all of the characters so it’s hard to choose.
Judy says
I love them all and would enjoy any and all.
Wendy says
I love both…but i will take which ever order is the best for relaying the story. Thank you soooo much
An says
They’re both awesome, and I definitely want both. I would like more Maud and Helen and Arland first though. Really want to know what happens with Klaus’s visit, then hope it ties back to the Inn.
g027 says
Oops I think something swallowed up my comment
I personally prefer Dina as a main focus, and maybe going back to Maud when you like/if needed. But I will still read either, because both are still wonderful and I devoured the last book. ????
Veronica says
I love them all, and I will be very happy to read whatever part of their stories that you would like to share next. Thanks so much for Dina and Maud, and their world!
K B says
I love the Inn.. More stories on both would be great! Like where are their parents? And what about the brothers story etc?
Soren says
I love both storylines. I really want more innkeeper stories, I think there is a lot of potential there.
I’m not super into “sci-fi” but Maud’s story isn’t really about that so she’s slipped into my brain and I’d like to see where they go, how the kid grows up, also!
Pam says
I love both!!❤️❤️❤️
Brooke says
I love both stories. I’d love to read more of both. I want to see a small adventure of just Helen too.
Violet says
All of the above, plus anything you’re willing to give us? So far I’ve loved everything in the Innkeeper universe.
Laura says
Why can we only have one or the other. Can’t we get both?
Melissa says
This is my favorite series of yours and I love all of the characters! I would love to read more about all of them! Can’t wait for more when you guys can get to it! You guys are the best!
DianaInCa says
Well I don’t like to pick. I would be happy with either. However you did have Klaus show up at the end of Maude’s book. Kind of wonder what he has been up too.
Have a great weekend!
Bev Shepherd says
Agree
Tambria says
I love this world and would read anything in it. ????
Briana says
I just enjoy that world. Both Maud and Dina have distinct roles to play within it. Don’t ask me to choose one over the other. I will be happy with what you decide to write within that world.
Sarah says
I chose not to choose. I think I like Dina and Sean a little better, but it could just be because we’ve been reading more about Maud and Arland lately. I love them both! So whoever you decide to write about next, I will be happy to read.
Paula says
Totally agree with Sarah. Whoever you write about is great.
Sarah says
I agree. Just please write!
Erin Burns says
So I don’t know if my brain is just weird, but the whole search for their parents is what ties it and makes it work for me. So basically whichever will serve that plot arc is what I prefer.
Melissa C says
I love Maud’s character more, and the intricacies of navigating new cultures, new people, and the tricky politics – but not the fighting scenes as much. I love Dina and her adventures with who comes to visit. So while I do love them both, I find Maud a bit more fascinating. I want to see her magic more. I also wish Dina would amp up her power, or grow the inn more. Either way- I love both worlds.
Nora gomez says
Oh… grow the Inn. That would be awesome! Adding stables would mean more staff which is an exciting opportunity to add characters.
Tyler says
Definitely Dina and the inn! I enjoyed Maud’s book, but stories about the inn are my favorite!
Alex says
I prefer to leave it up to you guys to unfold the story in the order that seems most natural – whatever it might be. Maud feels a lot more like Kate to me, which is magical because I miss the Kate series, but Dina and Sean have a very different feel, and it’s really exciting to watch something completely new unfold. We can’t lose either way. 🙂
Alison says
I voted for Dina, Sean, and the Inn but it is only a mild preference. I will happily read just about anything you publish.
Valz says
what?! NO, Maud. You didn’t add in Helen, if you had added Helen that category would be winning. JS
Barbara says
I agree. I didn’t want to pick but Helen is my favorite and she would have pushed me to pick Maud.
Bar says
Forgot to say, I’m sure I will enjoy whatever you write.
Nora gomez says
Wow! This was a toughie! You keep writing and I will keep reading. Thanks for all the hard work.
MaryH says
I miss Dina and Sean and everyone back at the inn, however I don’t want to wait for more Maud and and Arland because I’m a greedy person. Sorry, please take my money.
Jessica says
+1
Teh Gerg says
My thoughts exactly. Frankly, I’d like to see all of them, and Klaus included, maybe with a few distant excursions with all concerned. My money’s waiting and ready, too.
AMT says
I love reading about children in your stories and how they grow throughout the story/series. So my vote is 100% more Helen. =)
H says
Maybe innkeeper with a sneak peak into the meeting of Maud and Klaus. I love them all
Sara says
I want to be Maud when I grow up. I love how you guys write about mothers — it’s so rare to have heroines at that phase in their life.
Bea says
They are both good series. I want them to find their parent s:)
seantheaussie says
Maud, Arland and their Machiavellian and achingly loyal thoughts were easily my favourite part of the series, but you two should write whatever moves you.
Kes says
Both please!
Laura says
What about the missing brother? ????
Jessica says
I love all of it, I don’t want to have to pick because I would love more Dina/Sean/Inn, but we received a taste of Maud/Arland/fighting and I can’t wait for more.
Steph says
I absolutely love everything about the entire series so I will devour the next novel regardless of the direction you take. I’m also curious about Klaus, Dina’s parents and their backstories… such a rich environment from which to pluck a thread and follow!
Brittney says
I would say I lean very slightly towards Dina and the Inn but I would be very happy with either
Marianne says
This series wouldnt be the same without the entity it’s named after; the Inn. So Dina and Sean it is. While I do love a good fight, I just think the vampire culture revolves too much around fighting and bloodshed. That being said; Arland is my favorite character.
Inés Heinz says
I choose Sebastien North and Helen. sorry. im not good at following directions!
Patricia Schlorke says
I couldn’t pick either. If we didn’t read about Dina and Sean, we wouldn’t have read about Arland, Maud, Helen, and also about how caffeine reacts with vampires. So…it’s fine with me if you want to write about one sister or the other. 😀
Nicola says
Both!!
Henry says
I don’t want to pick. I thought you would continue with the thread you left us with, when Maud was recovering from the Battle Station melee and told her brother Klaus was there.
Jenn says
Maud and Arland… ???????????? and future growth of Helen as warrior woman … they are my favorite probably bc I am older and a parent so I relate? Lol I guess I also prefer vampires. Even if Sean is a special type of werewolf …
Pat says
Any and all of the above. Just write what you want and I will read happy. Thank you ????
Amy R. says
You forgot all of the above.
Carol says
I want to know what happens when Dina and Sean appear before the Assembly.
Then I want to know why Klaus showed up.
Or in whichever order the Muse suggests.
Sharynn says
I can’t pick. I love reading about all of them!
Jen says
I really loved Maud, Arland, and Helen’s story, but for me Dina is the heart and soul of the Innkeeper series. I’m still dying to see the story of Klaus, the mysterious cat, and finding her parents unfold, and story without some time with Caldenia and Orro would be tragic! I’d hate to give any of the characters up, but am still very invested in the original story arc (as I understood it, anyway). So many interesting threads left to pull in this series… whatever you write, I’ll be there to read it! ❤️
Cassandra says
Both? How about both?
Jo Brown says
I love both and would love more books about Dina and the Inn and more books about Maud and little Helen. If you write ’em, I’ll buy ’em????
Brooke says
Can’t we have both? It’s too hard to choose. I have an invested interest in both story lines. I know they have separate story lines, so there would be separate stories/books, but I love following both of them.
Melissa says
There is a wrong answer here, soooooo whatever direction brings you more joy! More, please.
Heidi Cykana says
I pick “whatever fills in Klaus’ story because that’s making me a little nuts”. My “I read a lot of books” gut says that’s going to be a four-some story set in the Inn, but I am also completely prepared to be 100% wrong.
Zanne01 says
I love them both, so I’ll enjoy whichever one you are inspired to write first.
Carysa Locke says
I love them both! I would never be unhappy whichever you choose. Also, Helen is an adorable baby vamp, how could I ever say no to more of her?
Abigale says
I think an option of bacon in the poll, like you did at one point, would be hilarious. (As I recall bacon ranked quite high.)
Carysa Locke says
I love them both! I would never be unhappy whichever you choose. Also, Helen is an adorable baby vamp, how could I ever say no to more of her? But Dina and the Inn and Sean are also all fantastic.
Storm Rise says
As I love everything and anything that you guys write, I’m just beyond grateful at your generosity in allowing us to have ANY snippets! 😀
Kelly says
I love Maud, but if given a choice I’d go for Dina.
Cindy Liu says
Hard question. I’m greedy and want both haha. Everything you write is awesome ????
Lea Coates says
We are no help obviously. I love all of the above, and the idea of Karat and Klaus still has me intrigued, but most of all we need to know what happened to Mum and Dad, so no pressure
Eliza says
I don’t think I can choose 1 over the other as all the characters are great. My only preference is wanting to know eventually what happened to Dina’s parents and brother.
Kgor says
I like both. I especially have loved Maud’s story. I have loved Dina’s too. Can we have both? Are we asking too much?
Akin says
Okay I know I’m in the minority as I love your fringe characters and wild building the best. I love Julie from KD series. I would love to continue on the long story arch and journey to finding the missing parents. I would love new character, and stories about George. Any space saga are a favorite.
Catherine says
Agreed. I want to see more of Maud and Arland, particularly with the bombshell at the end of Sweep of the Blade but I also want to see how Dina and Sean evolve and the roll they and the Inn play. ????
frymaster says
I’d like to know more about the search for Maud and Dina’s parents. Dina found the last clue – but Dina is nailed to the Inn somewhat (though only somewhat). But I also love Maud and, more importantly, Helen.
I suppose I just want whatever you feel calls to you to be written. I’m certainly going to buy it.
Lynn Aiken says
I voted for the inn but would love to see all sides. I adore all the characters and would miss Maude, Helen and Arland if nothing was written about them.
MissB2U says
Klaus, for sure. I wouldn’t mind hearing more from Lord Soren either…I just love Maud and Helen.
Lori says
I would like story with both Dina and Maud, with George and Jack.
Yvonne A says
I love both, but Maud is diffrent. I love Innkeeper an this is for me Dina – I like to read more about Maud but not so often I want to read about Dina
Cheryl M says
I love them all??? Please don’t make me pick!
Lynne says
I loveeeee both.
Mary says
I feel the same!! I love all and want all! What ever you decide I will read it happily!
Jan says
I agree. I didn’t pick. I love both
Lerali says
I would love to read anything you would like to write. It may sounds trite. I really enjoy both couples for completely different reasons and would love to read more about either.
Andie says
⬆️⬆️⬆️Same! ⬆️⬆️⬆️
Travis Holley says
*SPOILERS* The worst part about Innkeeper for me is that when Dina almost died, I almost stopped reading any further innkeeper. I loved the Maud one and the little girl is a fascinating character that is just so very REAL that it is unreal. HOWEVER, please, PLEASE… write about their brother at least one story… The reason I ask is because I don’t want to get so wrapped up in the other characters that I can’t really get interested in other characters enough that when those characters are laid down I won’t stop reading the other stories…..
Karen Tatro says
Both!
Kechara says
Everything And more
Teresa says
I have to say I’d like to read about Maud, Arland, and Helen first. There’s a whole trade station’s worth of magic and mayhem just waiting to be a kick-ass story. Klaud has to show his face sometime soon. Then back to the Inn for a family reunion and a parent hunt.
Or a vampire marriage, a search for Klaus, back to the Inn for a parent hunt, then trade station mayhem.
Oh dear. Timelines are difficult. I’m ready for any adventure that presents itself for my reading pleasure.
Thank you for this marvelous series!
Anne in Virginia says
I love both but it’s important that you make the decision because I want you to have the freedom to choose who and what you’re in the mood to write about. I’ll happily read stories about either or both. I admit to ulterior motives. What I prefer is having many, many stories and I figure I have a better chance of having that come to pass if you are enjoying your work. You choose and I’ll buy, and buy, and buy.
Anne in Virginia
Aja says
Klaus!! I’m desperate to learn more about him. But seriously, I am excited for anything and everything House Andrews chooses to write about! I love all of your stories <3
Anne says
Write the story that you have to write….with whatever characters have to be on the page…
Erin says
+1
Erin says
Ill take anything! Im in love with everything so far. If i was forced to choose, I’d choose Dina. But only because I feel a strong connection to her and her story.
Billie Catlett says
This series is one of my favorite stories of all time. When I’m feeling down I pick it up and reread it. I equally love both Dina and Maud’s stories for different reasons and I hope you will have the time and desire to write more of both in the future but I am hoping the next one will move the mystery forward. Thank you!
LBaker says
I’m dying to know what news Klaus has!!! Don’t care where that story takes place.
Teh Gerg says
I’ve been waiting anxiously for Innkeeper to restart no matter who it centers on. Please, soon. I love stories about hypercompetent, genius women with vulnerabilities, insecurities, and butt-kicking ability.
Diane Lang says
Tiny preference for reading more about Dina, Sean & the Inn but will happily read anything you decide to write in this world. 😀
Alayna says
I love both stories but since we started with Dina, I’ll always be partial to her story more. But anything you all write I’ll be happy to read!!!
Karen says
I love this series! Since Klaus just showed up at the end of Maud’s book, I assume there’s going to be something interesting going on there. Maud is my favourite, but I want to see Dina again too. I want to know all the things! Please just write about all the things! ????
Norbert says
I want both. Normally, I do not have a problem with decisions, but with this one … I just cannot pick a side. You made your characters so compelling, I cannot choose one over the other.
Come on, you can do both! 😉
Beverly Shepherd says
I voted Maud bc here was a cliffhanger at the end. But I love all the characters and can’t wait to see where they go
Marli says
Honestly I just want more !
Jody says
I love them all. Whatever you decide will be amazing.
A.M. Lau says
Maud! Please! I LOOOOOOOOVE Natalie Naudus’s narration of her story in the audiobook! I listen to it over and over again. It’s become one of my comfort-listens.
Sia says
I would love more Maud and Arland, but then I love everything you write. You could write a story about a possum and I’d get excited
Marnie says
To be honest, I want MORE in the Kate Daniels world. Please?
Jen says
I like both Dina and Maud although I wish Dina will be more badass like Maud. The recent Maud series was so thrilling and action packed I want more of it but then I love Dina first soooo… I would be happy with either my fave authors. Thank you for this wonderful world you shared with us.
K says
Admit it, you can’t decide, so you are trying to get us to do it…..
Anything you write is awesome…..no decision!
Alisha says
I can’t choose. I love them both for different reasons.
Yolanda says
I vote Dina, Sean, and the Inn. I love them and they have a special place in my heart.
Valerie says
Wow. Talk about an impossible choice. Do I want to find out if the Ripper of Souls is actually Sebastian North or do I want find out why Klaus has come to see Maud? Um, both please.
Kimie J says
Please don’t make me pick . . .I love the both series and want to explore both Dina and Maud’s worlds. Keep up the great writing!
Mandy says
Can I un-vote? Since every one is bringing up their brother, I would like to hear about him. Sorry.
Darla Bauer says
Whoever you write about include more George and Jack and Lark. I’ve been loving those characters since the Edge series and love how they show up here too!!!!
Tambria says
I love this world and would read anything in it. ????
Maggie says
I adore them all and want to read more about everyone in this world.
Julianne says
Though I love both series!!!
Diana says
Honestly the book you two feel like writing is probably the one to go with. I like both sets of characters, though personally I could read two Dina books for every one Maud book.
Kath says
I am happy with who ever your inspiration lands on, however to save having to make a choice, perhaps a visit?
Heather Langston says
I love the Innkeeper series, I really do. But truth be told, I absolutely ADORE Maud and Arland. I can’t explain why I am so enamored with the two of them, but I’ve read and re-read their story over and over again. Simply put, I LOVE them.
Don’t get me wrong, I will happily read anything that comes out in this series. But I will always be happiest to read about my favorite Maud and her giant hunk of a vampire Arland.
Sherry W says
Love Maud, Arland and Helen! There will be Ripper Cushions! Lol. I would read anything in this world you write. It’s all well written and very entertaining. Thank you both.
Tiffany Truong says
Really I was looking for an “all of the above” option 🙂
Breann says
+1 ????
JD says
Both? can we not have both? Don’t make me choose I love them both!
Lynne says
I just love everything you write. Write where your muse leads you.
Mary-Anne Goss says
I didn’t want to pick, I like them all, and will read them all.
Ginny says
I’m just so happy that another innkeeper book is coming!!
Jac says
I love both Dina and Maud. But One fell sweep left off with such a interesting next step- meeting the assembly to introduce Sean, who is Sebastian north? So on and so forth. Can’t wait for whats next no matter what you choose to write.
Colleen says
I’m with the “both” group. So yea, it’s never easy but that is because you are just fantastic storytellers.
Cynthia says
I love them both but really want the Audible for maudes story.
Catlover says
I think Maud, only one book for her versus two and a half for Dina. Whatever you decide is fine, most important is that you enjoy writing the story so it’s not an unhappy slog for you.
David Kay says
I can’t get enough of Helen and love Maud. I am curious about Klaus and the elder DeMille’s.
Amy McDonald says
I love both so I can’t pick! I will read whatever you guys write!! Just as long as you guys keep giving us new books I will read it!!
Dee says
I love the Innkeeper series as a whole. Maud and Arland’s story added so much to an already fascinating series. The histories of the cultures so far introduced from this galaxy have been amazing as well as the exceptional political and spiritual structures and traditions of each sentient species.
At the center of it all is the Innkeeper and the Inn. Kind of the glue holding everything together with a purpose or many but essentially to find the missing Inn and the Demille parents and Innkeepers as well. Or maybe at least to find answers as to what happened when it/they vanished and also what evil is hunting the ad hal.
Klaus was a missing piece to this saga and here he is!????
So if course I vote to meet back at Gertrude Hunt with Dina and Sean and their families, friends, and foes to continue their search for Sebastian North and, and, and.. So many possibilities across the galaxy.
I can hardly wait.

Cynthia says
I agree. The entire series is a truly remarkable adventure that I have read and read again. I can’t wait to see more for Helen and her new family and I would love to go back to the inn to Dina, Sean the cat and of course everyone’s favorite chef.
Sjik says
I like the idea of the inn as an anchor point. I absolutely love the innkeeper series, including all offshoot novels. I will also read&buy anything you write. Given a choice, I’d want everyone at the scene to fight the big baddie. I see greater opportunity for more galactic mingling there.
Gaitshi says
I agree with how you express your view- this sums up my thoughts
Lisa says
I will happily read whatever you want to write!
Lynn Eul says
It is too difficult to choose. I love Dina, Sean and the Inn. Watching Dina and the Inn’s magical strengths increase, Dina and Sean’s relationship continuing to grow, and the limitless potential of new staff and guests would be wonderful to see. Additionally, I love Maud, Arland and Helen. Being able to see Helen grow into a knight, the kickass adventures which Maud and Arland encounter, the endless planets and beings they interact with would be exciting. Finally, the connections between “The Ripper of Souls”, Sabastian North, Klauss, and the possible recovery of Dina and Maud’s parents. Endless storylines are possible. Hooray! Love you!

Teressa says
What about flipping back and forth simultaneously between both? Because the next phase of both stories will be taking place at the same time anyway, right? You left both on a bit of a clifhanger. Since both are written in 1st person you can just put the character pov name as the chapter title
Krystine says

Tiffani Collins says
I vote for Dina and the inn, because I think that is where the heart of the story can best be told – and I enjoy that dynamic more than endless fighting!
Tracy Annis says
I keep re-reading both Dina and Maud’s stories, so I’ll be ready for whichever one you decide on. I’m just happy to be in the story 🙂

I loooove both Dina, Sean and the Inn and Maud, Arland and Helen! Plus we still need to hear about Klaus…. So… yeah, I know that’s not much help. Live you guys…. keep writing! I will read anything you write!!!

Both. I liked the comment upstream about using the pov name as chapter headings…
I find more challenge in the Inn and lives therein, but want Helen to get dropped off during the honeymoon!
Lisa L says
It’s so hard to pick. I think it would be best to have a bit of a central story line between both and flip back and forth or combine as you need to. At the end of the day it’s really about Dina , Maude and Klaus finding their parents. It would be nice to get some more background stories on secondary characters. You could even do them as short stories if you can’t fit them into the books.

The series seemed to be heading towards solving the mystery of Dina & Maud’s parents disappearance. If that is an option, that’s what I’d like to read about.

Is “yes” an option? Like, all of that together?
Anne says
I want to hear more about everyone. BUT, in the immediate future I want to hear more about Maud, Arland, House Krahr and Klaus. After all, you did end Sweep of the Blade on a bit of a “to be continued….”

There needed to be an “all of the above response” as in I will gratefully read and love whatever you write.
Sarah Wynde says
Love them both, perfectly happy to read either. Whose story is more intriguing to you right now? Because I’d rather read the book that’s delighting you as the authors than the one you’re writing for me/us, because I’m pretty sure that’s going to be the most entertaining, no matter who the main characters are.
Marion says
I can’t choose cause I know I will buy whatever book you write in the Innkeeper universe. I desperately want to know all their stories and wait anxiously for you to write it.
Actually, I should clarify that I’ll buy whatever books you publish cause I love them all. I’ve been a fantasy/sci-fi reader for over 60 years and I really enjoy all your books. Thank you.
VLR says
Missed the voting, but want it all! Seems logical to move back to the inn but it’s become such an integrated story. We started with just Dinah to love and now she and Maud are both so important and neither Sean or Arland had to lose out. This has become such an incredible series, can’t wait to see whay happens next
Linda henry says
I love everything about the Innkeeper series. All the characters . There isnt anyone that i dont want to read more about. I love your entire fictional world❤
Sandra says
Love them both, I suggest you write whichever you feel at the moment then write the other one after that, so ~ turnabout.
Of course, also realising there is Hidden Legacy & Iron Covenant to add to the mix. Love them all!!
kth says
I voted Maud, but honestly, I love both story lines and will read (&buy) anything y’all write!
Thank you for even letting us voice an opinion!!
Emily says
The first series I read from you was Innkeepers so it is close to my heart but really, I want to hear the rest of Hugh & Elara’s story more than Innkeeper or Catalina. And yes, someday I’d love to hear more about Erra & Julie & Derek. But as far as Innkeeper goes, I’d like to find their parents & hear about Klaus.
Emily says
Personally, I think both Dina/Sean and Maud/Arland are at similar places in their own relationship timelines. Therefore, I would be most interested in how Klaus fits into the picture, and where they can collaborate to find their parents, since he is an Arbitrator.
Alianna says
This is just too tough to choose. Go w/ where your artistic direction is taking you. I love it all.
Went into withdrawal mode after reading Sapphire Flames, which I’d kept as a treat to tide me through a stressful event. After that, went back and re-read all of Innkeeper. Now back to start of the Fire series again. May have to go back to KD. It sounds as though it might be a while before Iron & Magic #2 comes out. Long wait.
During recent re-read of Innkeeper #4, I realized that Helen will actually make a great character when she comes of age – just as you’re doing now with Catalina.
Wishing you all health and vigor, and that your writing proceeds apace!
Karen says
I voted for I don’t want to pick but we left off Maud and Arland getting a visit from her BROTHER!!!! We need to find out what Klaus is going to say!!!!!!! What if he has info on their mom and dad? What if the three siblings end up together ????!?!?!?!?
Akeru Joyden says
I love both couples… and I am very curious about Klaus and the Arbitration group…
Wendy says
I love the entire Innkeeper world, and how you’ve tied it to the Edge world. What I am really hoping for is the parents Demille to have their own book!
Suzann Schmid says
All of it. I want everything.
Kerry says
I buy what you choose to write about!
NicoleAllee says
I might have mentioned this before, but I’m pretty sure I’d read the phone book if y’all wrote it.
Also, I’d love to read a Julie and Erra story.
Or a anything you want to write.
Aphra says
I’m hanging on for a meeting between Maud and her ex-mother-in-law, but I enjoy the series so much I really don’t mind what comes next.
Greg Gramann says
I say write whatever you enjoy. The world building you have done with Innkeeper is honestly the best there is. I picture the inn as sort of a dungeons and dragons home base of adventures.
Wish list (spelling may be off):
Highly caffeinated vampire wedding
Anything with George/council
Anything with Klaus
Some ad-Hal story progression- love the glimpses
Caldonia becoming a su-chef of Orro
Carrie says
I THOUGHT I preferred Dina until the 3rd or 4th chapter of Maud’s story. I should’ve known I just like your stories. Kate, the Pack, all the Baylors, The Edge stories, Innkeeper, all of it.
Dylan says
I would really like to get a story focused on Klaus and his life to round out the DeMille family. This could either be on Earth or “out in the galaxy” where he’s been arbitrating. That having been said, I think that the Inns on Earth are the core of this series. They are the bridge that magically connects our ordinary Earth lives to all the wonder that your rich worldbuilding has created. Like Dina, this story can go out and explore the universe for a while, but ultimately it has to come home to the Inns and finding out what happened to the original DeMille Inn and Dina’s parents.
I think it would be interesting if that situation involved the Mukama, linking Maud’s story more smoothly into the overall story arc. Even if it doesn’t, I’m glad that we got to have a great adventure with Maud, Arland, and Helen. But Dina and Gertrude Hunt were what pulled me into this world, and I want to return to them.
Verna says
Love both spokes of this story. But with the wedding coming up how are you getting Dina there? Looking forward to the answer, especially with Klaus and SN invthe mix.
Maria Adams says
Much like most people say, I will buy anything you write, but out of all your universes this is my absolute favorite. It is extra special with Gertrude Hunt and the innkeeper world itself, which is why I voted for Dina. (And Beast, and Orro and and and…!). Loved the crossover with George as well. (Crossovers makes me happy!)
Alicia J Deats says
I probably prefer Dina and the Inn because the magical worldbuilding of the Inn is unique. But I’ve been hoping to see both sisters join their efforts and families to search for their parents. Maud, Helen, and the vampire culture fascinate me too. Long story, short I will devour anything written in this universe.
Smeech says
I’d really like to see a prequel with how Dina’s mom and stepdad met. The scene you have with the haunted house and the mom with kids was hysterical.
Lotie says
The reason I voted for I don’t want to pick us because I’m happy to read whatever you write! ????
JC Henry says
Hello,
I chose not to pick because I like them both and I trust you guys to develop the Innkeeper world as you guys see fit. Thank you for giving us the chance to pick. But as an audience that is out of my wheelhouse. Because I also write stories, I believe authors or writers share their work with readers. Readers don’t get to dictate where those stories go. We may not always like it. but that is not our choice. Unless you, author wish to write to market. I think that will be fine as well because I trust your (both of you guys) talent and skill as storytellers
Eva says
Maud and Arland’s Story does not feel like it’s done yet so I would like to continue that and then go back to Dina
Sivi says
Unlike parents who say this (they always have a favourite) i think the vote shows that (at the moment) 51% of of us live them all equally- no need for sibling rivalry in the Inn of Andrews 🙂
kommiesmom says
I am sure the voting is over.
I’d like to add my two cents worth (though I doubt you’ll find that much value in my opinion)
Which ever story grabs you first is the one you should be writing. Since you have no contract for this book, you can please yourselves. I love both sets of characters and they are so very interconnected.

I agree with everyone else that you should just write what you want. When it comes to sibling rivalry 😉 at this point in my life I connect more strongly with Maud, which is why I voted for her story. But I’d still read about Dina, it’s not like it’s mutually exclusive or anything! Just hope you guys will enjoy the writing 🙂
Sarah says
I love everything you write so whatever story you want to tell I’ll be happy to read it! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more stories about all of the characters in the poll though, I love everything about the Innkeeper Series!

I too voted for Maud. However, I’m happy with whatever House Andrews writes. Can’t wait to see what happens with Klaus.

I would love a new in seed to be discovered and see it grow and nurtured. I’d love another summit at Gertrude Hunt and see Maude kick some butt with Arland, and really win/astonish everyone with her awesomeness.
How cool would it be to meet Klaus and hear his story, then of course there are the mysteries of parents, pets and Inn! Oh, and creatures that nobody knew where still there?! Right, I’ll stop now, because I coud go on for ever!!
I love this series more than air!

I like Dina, Sean and the Inn as the core of the books. Maude and Klaus should be visiting characters that enrich the Story. Greetings from Germany.
Barbara Taylor says
I love all your books,as I was an early reader and happy to see the innkeeper series. Hopefully, we will learn the mystery of Dina and Maud’s parents disappearance.
A little off topic but I would like more stories from the edge, especially those concerning George, Jack and Gaston. How he became the head of his country’s spy agency. I felt more edge stories could be written about all the characters.
I also loved your kinsman novellas and would like to learn more about their universe and people.
Looking forward to your expanding the Kate Lennart universe more about Julie, Hugh, Elara, Derek, Conlan, Roman and Erra.
I love everything you have written and have purchased book, audio and special editions when availble. I recognize this is your job and you can’t do everything, but I can wish and hope
A reader of your stories forever.
Stephanie says
I agree with the above and everyone else. We love all your books. I reread them all, cuz I can read faster than you can write. No one has mentioned Helen. That cutie can get into a lot of adventures on her own, either singularly or a rescue from her parents.
tatie says
is it wrong to ask for some kate daniels for xmas? i’m still dealing with withdrawals 🙁
Angela says
I think Dina and Sean might be harder to write about, as Dina is mostly tied to the Inn and can’t go swashbuckling about the universe. However I really like the stories set in the Inn, and the characters who live and work there 🙂
Maud, Arland and Helen are hugely exciting to read, there is plenty of scope for world-building and back story, and who wouldn’t want to find out about Klaus and vampire politics!
Could the two story threads continue as a braided pair, with stories from both halves? Or does one ‘half’ consistently out perform the other?
Stacy says
I would love to read anything you want to write in that world. I do love the Inn setting but also loved Maude and the Vampires.
Emma says
I picked Maud because it’s a new storyline and Dina and Sean have found their HEA. Arland was a bit absent in his story so I wouldn’t mind some more insight into his character. He’s so proper and uptight it’s wonderful when he loses control. I like that you don’t go into details but I’d enjoy a scene with Maud where he releases some tension. Also I’m looking forward to meeting Klaus.

How can you expect us to pick? It is like trying to pick a favorite between our two children!
Tom says
As much as I hate to sound greedy one of those books where it’s the same story, but you can turn the book over/upside down and read it from the back forwards to see another perspective of the same events…
Then you could have Dina & Sean from the front and Maud & Arland coming in from the back – two separate strands building to a single shared conclusion…
If we get to vote for cameo’s – Charlotte de Ney & Lady Augustine always drew me in for some reason, more than any of your others!
But whatever you’d like to write would be brilliant!
Lorraine says
Both are riveting. Write your pleasure. I am delighted to read either.
gailk says
I would like a Holiday story about any of your characters. Innkeeper, Hidden Legacy, Kate Daniels, the edge.
I know I am greedy, but that is my wish.
Thank you , I voted and said I like them all
Thank you

Love them both Whatever tickles your fancy will suit me just fine. Perhaps alternate? we just had one from Maud so Dina’s turn?
Debra K Hoffmaster says
I am so, so very happy that you are sticking with this series. I really love the characters and will read EVERYTHING you write. I’m pleased that you pulled in characters from the Edge series. I have read these books repeatedly and “One Fell Sweep” brings me to tears every time I read it. I know you are not being political with it but it’s themes of extinction, refuge and desperation are so powerful that I am continually amazed.
Esther says
Love dina the most! But I like reading about helen aswell

I was considering voting neutral, but Helen’s ferocious cuteness tipped the balance. And I’m very curious about Klaus, as well as the trio’s parents.
Emily07 says
I love them all. Just keep writing them. The Innkeeper is one of my favorite series.
Judy Schultheis says
Face it – you’ve developed some thoroughly appealing characters here. Tell as wide a variety of stories about them as you want – I will certainly read them all.

Any of them will bring a smile to my day so wherever you are inspired to go, I am willing to tag along!

We love them. Being forced to choose is just not fair.

Honestly, I love the world of the Innkeeper series and would welcome any story you feel inspired to write. I enjoyed Maud & Arland’s story so very much but I am missing Dina, Sean and the Inn. Although, it would be very interesting to know what is happening with Klaus, and the parents. So yeah, any story you choose to write will be read and appreciated!
Bill G says
“YES” would have been my preferred answer, but it wasn’t an option.
Isla Matheson says
I love Maude and Arland. The theme from the 70s TV show is permanently stuck in my head.
I would love to read more about Klaus! The inn could have a story all its own too!
I can’t decide…
Michael says
I enjoyed sweep of the blade the most of the innkeeper books. Partly due to the depth of character building in maud, and arland’s family. But, I really enjoyed the stories about Dina.
We buy all your books pre-order, so we will read anything you write.
I think the mother daughter connection helped make the last book the most compelling.
cin says
I will read anything you want to write in the Innkeeper world. Gratefully. And happily.
So write about whoever is/are the most fun and fulfilling for you all!
Just as long as you keep writing.
Ashley says
Dina and Sean!!!
I just love their story. It’s one of my favorites! There is sooo much more I want to know about them. What happened with them?
I may get a little bit overly obsessed when reading books I really like (oops!) and *may* have gone a teeny bit crazy when I read all their books back to back then realized the next one wouldn’t be about them ????
Faith Freewoman says
I agree with a lot of other commenters that I’d like to follow that Klaus appearance at the end of Sweep of the Blade. I imagined the whole gang going on that expedition, including George et al.
And I don’t want to choose, but I admit to a teensy preference for Dina and Sean.
John K says
I enjoy Dina the most and i love how she expands the world. She and Sean are my favorites. but i’ll be happy with any more Innkeeper.
Amy says
I’ll read anything you write but if I had to choose, then def Dina & Sean. There’s comfort in the Inn as the setting. Feels like going home. ❤️
Liz says
Yes, that’s exactly it. The Inn always feels like going to a “home” place.
When it was Halloween recently, I had a lot of fun thinking about what Halloween at the Inn would be like, though I don’t expect to see it in the books given that OFS took place around Christmas. But if I could ever physically step into a book, I feel like celebrating Halloween at Gertrude Hunt would be one of the most fun things possible to experience*.
(*Along with visiting Hogwarts and eating the otherworldly butter pies from Diana Wynne Jones’ works. You know, I’ve been fantasizing about tasting those butter pies for 20 years now. It’s almost cruel of an author to invent delicious desserts readers can’t recreate…)
Paula Brett says
I love both stories but lend towards innkeeper a little more
Alison says
There should have been a ‘both’ option! I love that series and will buy anything and everything!
Liz says
I would personally greatly prefer to read about Dina and Sean. To me, Dina’s books feel so magical and special–unlike any other series I’ve read. I don’t normally use the word “beautiful” to describe books, but there is just something very beautiful about the stories in the first three Innkeeper books.
I think much of it comes from the amount of love packed into various characters’ relationships, not only the romantic love between Dina and Sean but also Dina and the inn, her family and other loved ones. Some of it probably also comes from Dina’s compassion for other beings and her tendency to search for the best in others. And while there is also a lot of violence at times, it feels like there’s an underlying pacifist theme that also adds to the beauty of the series. Somehow, there’s always something hopeful about the stories.
So to me there’s just something incredibly special about that combination. I like Maud as a supporting character, but Dina, Sean, and the Inn are the true heart of the series to me.

Mike says
My two pennies is as many others that I love all the characters and really really enjoyed sweep of the blade but feel Dina is the core with Maud a side character.
I would like to get back to Dina and I did think about suggesting doing alternates Dina then Maud then back to Dina (but the presupposes having the stories in your brains to tell)
Also I think one of the things I loved about Maud is her being human and thought of as less by vampires. Now she is accepted (given position of maven shows acceptance by the house leaders if not the others) by House Krahr where do you go except in confronting her old house but as they’re not in the same league as house krahr how do you work in the interaction.
Humm lots of food for thought and I’m sure being the excellent story tellers you are that you will weave a story I’ll follow avidly to the end.
But in the end I want conclusion of the dark inn keepers (can’t remember if they got a name) and Dinas parents
Tokies says
i think perhaps the kid magic eaters. maud and arland have more story for sure. She left threads and just because you are accepted by the family doesn’t mean trouble doesn’t go your way.

Hello Friends,
I’ve always seen the Inn Keeper Chronicles as being the trunk of the tree and Maud, Klaus, their Parents, the sheriff, and the different Guest’s as being branches of a tree that pierce the boundaries of time and space. Their experiences (in chapters or separate books) expand on the story premise as a whole -from their points of view- as it builds on the Inn Keeper Series in chronological parts of a universal adventure. I actually thought that was what you were planning all along.
It would be fun to see Helen visit her Aunt Dina in her own book and build on the Demille family mystery from her perspective in the Universal Chronicles.
I appreciate all you do, the books, the websites, your commitment to human rights, etc… I look forward to your future endeavors.
Warm regards, Regina
Amber Godfrey says
Yes, this is how I see it too. I do think we need some closure (as do Dina, Maud and Klaus) about what happened to their parents.

Becky says
After voting anything you write is awesome, I would really like to find out what’s going on with the altered innkeepers, Klaus, and more on finding Dina’s parents.
Meredith says
I voted for the Inn side of the story because I think it is unique. There are lots of books out there with kick- ass heroines, human meets alien, etc…story lines. Albeit not as well done. The Inn is one of a kind. The possibilities of guests from anywhere, the relationship of Dina with her inn and guests, and the many story lines possible are intriguing. For me, and I know many will disagree, Maude is a great character (because she’s so well written) but she’s been done in many ways. Dina, her environment, and her guests feel special and unique to me.
I’ll read whatever you write. But, I miss the Inn, oh and looking forward to the next Hugh! Yup, no greed here! ????
Rhonda says
I voted but there are no bad choices! If you write it I will read it!! You guys are so awesome!

I don’t really have a preference, I love all of the stories. I just curious what is that meeting about that Dina was invited to attend at the end of the book. But honestly, you should write what you want, I’ll read it all.

You are your own muse. Throughout each book there are hints of things to come, so many questions to answer, foreshadowing to fulfill, and I love each and every character from Chef to the befuddled deputy. Every one of them! So just write for us, we will follow.

I want it all, I’m selfish that way. So whatever you choose to put out, I can guarantee I’ll read it.
Claudia C says
I could not vote. My choice is not there. My choice:
I WILL READ ANYTHING HOUSE ANDREWS WRITES!
Follow your creative juices!!
Thank You For Sharing Your Genius With Us!!!
Jacquie says
No fair! Asking me to vote for one or the other is like asking me which of my children is first in my heart!! I’ll read anything you write, and love it.
Mary Simard says
I can’t pick one over the other but hope that you will continue both story lines.
Rnee says
What is going on with Klaus?
Lynn Thompson says
I am sorry but I just could not pick. There are a multitude of stories involving all of the characters plus some we have not met yet or just briefly. So for me and the pup it is whatever Ilona and Gordon decide to tell.
This journey started out with a Christmas present of a Kate Daniel’s book from one of my siblings a few years ago. Now I have read the whole catalog of published books as well as stuff on blog. (The only other blog I follow is Patricia Briggs.). So obviously I am a BDH person.
Sue says
Nooo! Do not make me pick…please.? Love them all, and your stories about them so very much. I want to find out what happened to DeMille parents and why someone has it in for Innkeepers and to hear Orro boss everyone (with Patrick Stewart’s voice in my head). I want to see Maude as Maven with her Innkeeper sensibilities bring changes in House Krahr no one could ever anticipate and Helen the Formidable take her place in vampire society. That being said…there are only so many hours in a day, you have a living to make and lives to lead. Thank you for the worlds and the fun and I will continue to enjoy and recommend to others whatever new stories you provide.
Meg says
Klaus showed up on Arland and Maud’s doorstep and the end of The Sweep of the Blade. Since he’s Dina and Maud’s brother, I’m hoping the next book includes everyone. Some how, some way.
Elizabeth says
I know there’s only so much time to write so it’s good to get a gauge on what your readers want, but it’s so hard to choose!
If you’d asked me before I’d read Maud and Arlands tale I would have said “Nah, just give me Dina” but, no matter the story, you’re able to draw me into each character regardless, always surprising and delighting the deeper into the universe you take me!
Adrianne Middleton says
I love that the books in your series build up to an over-arching story, and I think that you have the potential for that with the Innkeeper series, because I think that the Demilles and the Krahrs and the ad-hal may all have a common enemy. I also love your books because you aren’t afraid to write romance after the marriage.
Jane says
I see no reason to pick because the authors are doing a great job of doing that for me. Why screw around with what already works?
Robin Šebelová says
Poll results look like 2:1, so how about for every two Dina books one for Maud?
Vicky M-M says
Ditto!!
Coffeeshopkitty says
I voted for the Inn because of the guests. Also, the resident sociopath and melodramatic chef give me the giggles. That said, I find both storylines equally compelling and wouldn’t kick either of them out of bed.
Meredith says

Deb Fett says
Both!!! I cannot and will not pick between two story lines that I love. Write what makes you happy and I’m sure it will make me happy too
nrml says
HOLY SMACKS! I read your blog once a day, and 24 hours ago, this post hadn’t been posted, so today I come back to everybody in the world chiming in!
First, you can’t have Klaus back at the Inn on earth because his 20 years of service when he can’t go back to his home world are not yet finished. So the wedding on Arland’s world, with Dina and Shawn in attendance would be sweet, with Klaus there, too, since he’s there at the end of SOTB, anyway. Get them all together for the wedding and find out where in the galaxy — whichever it is — the Demille parents ended up. Then go back to earth and find out what’s up with the ad hal being attacked. Then go back to see the new child born to Maud and Arland. Then keep going, wherever you end up, with all the excellent characters built into this world. The lees are great. You’ve already got the Edge characters involved. It’s just so wide open when it includes the entire galactic realm!
What we are all trying desperately to tell you is that none of us can write this next Innkeeper book, so whatever you think comes next is what we’ll read and re-read ad infinitum until the next one comes along, when we will read the entire series again to prep for that next one.
Unlike Hidden Legacy, which is named for all three daughters of Victoria’s son, the Innkeeper books are named for the Innkeeper, so the series is based on the Inns being the small cog in the huge wheel of the galactic spirals at the only known 12-gate jump site. Thus, I voted for the next book to be about the original Inn. But since we also know that Dina can and does have to leave to go elsewhere, you can move her and Shawn and Beast to visit the other worlds. She can’t stay gone long, but surely there is an Innkeeper child somewhere old enough to hold Gertrude Hunt stable for her to attend a family reunion?
As the rest of the horde has said, I will read whatever you write. I’m not sure I’d read the phone book if you wrote it, but a new fiction book by you two will be snatched up quickly. Tidbits of Hidden Legacy have been dangled in front of us, we’re all waiting for more Innkeeper, and I guess Hugh matters to a lot of people. I never cared for Hugh, and Kate’s happy, so frankly, pfffft! I’m sure millions of people care, but I’m hooked on Dina’s world and on the magical Hidden Legacy earth. Although, the Edge series seemed to end abruptly when you stopped writing about that.
*sigh* Write whatever comes to mind. We’ll be here.
Susan Downey says
Both are awesome in their own way. Happy to read about either one!!
Nancy F. Smith says
More! Both! All! I’m greedy!
Ili says
The innkeeper is by far my favorite series but I feel strongly for Maud and I have no idea why. I just love that book and probably know it by hart by now. I love Dina almost as much. However I’ll take anything you write because you can make any character likable, even Hugh( which I couldn’t believe I’ll like at all) but there it is. I bet that most of your fans are like me. Just give us anything and we will take it with open heart
Raquel says
All of them, please. I enjoy these characters tremendously and would love to hear more of their life stories.

Meagan Watts says
I voted for Dina, but I want Maud too!!!!
Tiffany Crystal says
Well, that decided things, lmao.
Maggie says
I absolutely do not care what you write. I will read any of it with great pleasure. So please write what you feel like writing and I will wait (im)patiently to read it. Thank you for the incredible worlds and characters you create.
Kellie says
I couldn’t choose! I like them both so much. They both have such exciting feels to them in such different ways. Dina is sort of more soothing and Maude so fiery.
wingednike says
I like both, but Maud grabbed me from her first introduction and Dina took a book and a half to grow on.
Bookwurm56 says
Like many others, I don’t want choose. There are so many possibilities, the Inn stories could be endless. The future for Maud, Arland and Helen would also be fascinating, how will Maud and Helen fit into House Kahr, will this leed to problems. The story possibilities just from how Maud will function as the Maven for house Kahr as she deals with other houses and other species. What does Klaus want. Will they find their parents? When does the book featuring Gerard and Helen come out? So I think you can write many stories that are singles or overlapping stories. The fact that most of us can’t choose, is your fault, your writing is so good we don’t want it to end. In conclusion keep doing what you have been and we will follow the path you choose.
Cristina says
I love them equally, so I don’t want to pick 🙂 I’ll read whatever you decide to write.
Pete says
I will read anything you write, and in fact I have not regretted the time it has taken to read whatever I have found that you have written. Including what we got to read when you opened the trunk for a few days.
d LM a says
Gertrude Hunt and its Keeper Dina are the introduction and gateway to this Universe.
Maud & Arland are the introduction to the Anocracy & the space trade within this universe.
There are mysteries & adventures that start from both, that diverge interconnect & meld to push the story forward without flipping back & forth.
The Talespinner has introduced their audience to the ‘once upon a time’ opening to this saga. This member is enthralled to hear the next segment and keenly anticipates what new history or wonders they will unfold.
I don’t want to choose as I know not the tale, it’s saga nor its unfolding …. l choose to follow the talespinner’s telling
Mousewynne says
If you write it I will read it! There are hints of so many potential story lines in the universe that I hope you don’t tire of it for many books to come.
Tana Reeve says
You needed a choice that said “both”. I think that with your creativity, I will enjoy reading whichever Demille sibling you choose to write about.
Vanessa V Kilmer says
Whatever gets to Sebastian North. 😉
Chris Carroll says
I could not choose when I voted. However, I feel that the Inn stories are so unique that would have to be my choice. But…I fear that if the parents get found, then the series will end, and I will be sad. That does seem like Dina’s focus. I am hopeful that she will get a hint that they are fine and doing good things elsewhere so that she can focus on the Inn. So many things can and should happen at the Inn – I just don’t think we’ll get to hear ALL the stories. lol. I’ve read all but only a couple of all your books, and they are on my to-do list. Write when you can, enjoy life and each other to help keep your sanity. Your readers love you dearly.
TeejSD says
Well if I Have to pick 1 or the other, then I gotta go w Dina, etc, cuz let’s face it, i am more invested since she has more books. So i want to know, what’s the deal(if any) with the cat, and the werewolves, George (who knew he’d grow up to be an Arbiter!) and are they going to find her brother/parents? So that’s how I voted.
Dangling plot resolution aside, though,I DO want more Maude. Because I’m pretty sure the path of “wuv, twoo wuv” is going to be anything but smooth inside the Holy Anocracy. Maude’ll have to kick some vampire ass, drag the Holy Anocracy kicking & screaming into the galactic community at large, step on the Lee’s so they don’t over-reach, possibly hunt more pirates, and somehow find time to build a real relationship with His Hot Marshalness–who will likely infuriate her a time or 2 on the way! Ah, I can hardly wait!
For either sisters story:-)
Nancy C. says
Dina now and forever! She’s my favorite of all your characters, my tattoo inspiration ♥️
Shane says
You really needed an “all of the above” category. Cause I want more of all of these characters. They are all fun and interesting.
Scott says
I think don’t wanna pick would work for that.
Michele says
Yeah that’s why I picked that one! I want them all!!
Marianne says
+1. ???? When you have such delightful characters, in such interesting circumstances, it makes it incredibly difficult to choose. All I know is I want more of both!! ????
Gretchen says
All. Yes. This.
Liz says
Whoa, you have an actual Dina tattoo? Or is it more like something related to the story? Do describe, please. 🙂
SJ says
+1!!
Bri says
I love Dina and Sean. I love the magic of the inn and how many different characters you see and the relationships that are built as a result. I love how you get insight on different worlds even if you don’t visit them directly. I love how subtle the magic can be or the in your face slap that occurs. I like the interactions between different peoples.
Don’t get me wrong. Arland and maud are great and I loved seeing more of the vampire world and getting a better idea of the politics. But it is much more focused and didn’t Find their part of the world as intriguing. (Not that I didn’t devour their bool because it was still amazing and Hilarious.
Jukebox says
+1 x 1,000,000
Pollyanna Hopson says
I love the Innkeeper series and it’s spin off. I hope there are lots of stories about Dina and Sean And Maud and Arland. As well as the future stories of Maud’s daughter.
Patti says
Could you maybe just alternate? I really want to read about what happens with Dina and Sean now that they’ve been summoned, and I want to learn what happened with her parents and their inn. Plus now you’ve stirred Klaus into the mix, and I want to find out about him, too! But I also love Maud, Arland, and especially Helen, so I want to hear more of their adventures. Basically I guess I’m just greedy for anything you write. I’m just glad that you do write, and hope you continue to do so for a very long time. Thank you for being the wonderful authors that you are.

Tracey says
YES!!! I want it all!
Anne says
Well I chose Dina, Sean and the Inn but only because I felt I needed to make a choice and not just leave it “all of them”. I have absolutely enjoyed the stories of both siblings and I think ,“hope”, there are a lot of stories of all of the family still to come, including a future story on that most intriguing of all children, Helen. There are so many stories still to tell about the family (I hope).
Thanks for your story writing. I have really enjoyed every story of yours I have read and look forward to any stories which come from your imagination and hard work.
Anne
Val says
I could not have said it better!

While I liked Dina’s story, I feel more drawn to Maud’s storyline. It’s reminiscent of Curran’s and Kate’s world which I really miss. I love the story of survival and beating the odds, and especially bc they’re females.
BelleBok says
I echo this sentiment too!
+ 1
I voted for Maud & Arland because I love the Vampire world the Authors have crafted…. Having said that, I also will devour anything the Andrews write… Anything!!!
CyndiLooWho says
I would like novels with Dina, Sean, and the inn. They are the primary story to me, and I want to see how their dynamic changes now that they have a “real” relationship.
Maud, Arland, and Helen are fun, but they’ll pop in whenever Dina needs them. I do want to know more about Klaus, too, but really, it’s all about the inn and its keepers for me.
Ana K. says
+1
Joann K says
You’re asking us to pick?!?
I can’t pick, I love them all!!!
Tough I must admit that Beast and Helen have a slight edge …
KR says
I voted for Maud and Arlen really because we only had one story with them and I would like to see more. I want to know why Helen is such a perfect vampire. And I want to see a reunion with Klaus. I want to see how/if the House’s culture is changed by having a human at such a high level.
So that’s where I’m at. I would read more about Dina and Sean without complaint. I adore them.
Lduke1990 says
I read everything you write, so being forced to choose between Dina and Maud is like being forced to choose between my two favourite flavours of ice cream. In my dream scenario you alternate between Dina and Maud novellas until one or both stories are complete. However, because I write semi-professionally, I also know this isn’t necessarily feasible, so all I can do is implore you to not let one set of characters fall by the wayside, even if it’s just a scene or two every year, I’d like to know how they’re doing.
Tina M. says
My thoughts exactly.
UschiK says
Why do I have to pick? I’m really interested whether Dina and Sean will attend Mauds wedding and how they get there. will the inn create a gate????,since Dina can’t leave the inn for a longer stretch? With Caldenia, Orro and the dog? Heart attack ???? for the vampires! And what about Klaus?
The BDH doesn’t want to choose, if you feel more comfortable with only one couple as the main lead, drop a coin. Whatever you decide, please stay comfortable and don’t put yourselves to the same stress you seem to have suffered from this year. We will love whatever you will write.
Gina says
I love the innkeeper series but when I was introduced to Maud…
I’ll read about all of them any time. Just keep writing and write about Maud and her little girl, too! Love them!
Bruce R says
um … yes, i do prefer to read everything IA writes …
Bruce R says
Ok … I prefer Maud, Arland & Helen; but the difference in preference is marginal. Really! Wherever your muse takes you, I am happy to follow!
Rosie says
I absolutely love the magic of the inn – I think all the concepts around it are so interesting. But in terms of stories, the most recent novella (which became more a novel?) was my favourite by far. I don’t know whether that’s down to Maud’s character, or a different approach IA took in their writing approach. Sean leaned a little on the bland side for me, but I think I’m the exception in that view!
Ama says
If you had offer to write about Maud’s new life and her unique magic, I would have totally been on board for that! Instead I chose Dina, I still love Dina and the Inn.
Nifty says
I love Dina and the Inn (and Sean), but we’ve had three books of them and only one of Maud and Arland. (Okay, okay…maybe it’s more like 1.5, since they figured prominently in Book 3 of Dina’s trilogy.) So I would enjoy reading more about them. Maybe one more book. I also would like to see Maud settled and happy and respected by House Krahr.
AHC says
I love them all, but I NEED MORE HELEN!!!!!
Pilar says
Maud and Arland’s wedding with Klaus and Dina in attendance first please. Then u can get back to quest to find their parents. Thx for asking!!

Kitty Drake says
I am waiting patently for anything you write! Just finished re-reading Kate’s story and Hugh’s….and have fallen in love with Maud, Arland and Helen’s all over again….which means that I will start, once again, on re-reading Dina and Sean’s…after that, it will be next week and I will start again on Legacy and Edge….2020 can’t get here fast enough….surprise us!!!
Deeb says
I am anxiously awaiting the next Dina/Sean but that doesn’t mean I would turn down Maud/Arland/Helena or anything else you want to write!
Janna Moore says
How can I choose? I love them both! So I patiently wait for new books for each when they come along.
Kerryn says
I opted for Maud but really – anything you want to write I will enthusiastically read and re-read.
Cynthia says
I can’t decide. How about having all of them in the next book. Maybe centered around Arland and Maud’s wedding.
Robert I. Katz says
I will happily read whatever you choose to write. I suspect that you’ll be roping both story lines together, but if not, I would vote for alternating books between Dina and Maud, for the next few, at least.
I am looking forward to the announcements of the guests at Maud’s wedding. “Sean Evans, Captain, United States Marine Corps, retired. Alpha strain werewolf. Turan Aden. Confirmed kills: one thousand five hundred forty seven.” And the place goes wild…
Lissa says
I’m going to vote for a candidate/sibling not on the ballot: Klaus Demille
Tasha A says
I just read innkeeper 3 so I would vote for Dina and Sean because I want to find out more about Sebastian North, the meeting between The Assembly and Sean & Dina ( will he wear a robe) and more about Marais!
But let’s be real I would be happy with Maud as well!
Kelly Jacobs says
I returned for a 2nd vote since you said you wanted to know.
I think more stories about Arland and who is selling the world destroying flowers would be fascinating. Maude confronting her x-inlaws would be juicy & where are her parents??! Helen with more ripper cushions would be HiLaRiOus!
I’ll send you some of that He tea.
Laura says
No “both” button? ????
Martina says
Impossible to choose a particular character. I love all of what you have created and would gratefully read more about any of it. The most important thing to me is that you take it where your muse takes you. When you give so much pleasure to others, you should also have pleasure in the creation. The stories are fantastic and your passion shows through.
Also the picture of kid 2 was awesome – lovely eyes and the story of the critters on the porch had me laughing out loud. Honestly, it’s not just Texas. Here in Canada we have odd wildlife trying to take up residence too.
Kassandra d says
I fixed your Books to more prominent spot in Barnes and Noble today.. they had them scattered and not alphabetical together
Sue Divan says
Maud and Arland are getting married. Will House Ervan be invited to witness the woman they threw away marry the Lord Marshal of House Krahr? How will they react when they find out she, this ‘disgraced’ human they banished, is now the MAVEN of House Krahr? What is their reaction seeing their disowned blood granddaughter be cherished by House Krahr’s Lord Marshal AND its Preceptor? And what interesting and poetic justice type things will Helen exhibit to make House Ervan sincerely regret that they threw her away? And why is Klaus there instead of Earth? Will Orro, as a gift to Maud, prepare their wedding feast? And how is the Trade Station progressing? I love all things Innkeeper, but Maud, Arland, and Helen (bueno is a GEM) have stolen my heart. Thank you the gift of this series.
Sue Divan says
I HATE spellcheck!! HELEN is a GEM (not bueno). Spell check is the devil.
Kags says
All the yeses! There are so many plot threads to explore in Maud’s stories and I want them all!
Lynn says
I totally agree with you! All very valid points that I would love to see addressed.
Christina Amacher says
I love the magic of the Inn and it’s gateways to other worlds. I love that Dina can transform it, and how she works towards building it up from its more humble beginnings (both materialistically and magically). I also would love to see how the search for her parents turns out!
Aurora says
To plagiarize my husband whenever he is faced with an either/or question:
“Yes!”
Bridget says
I can’t decide! I love Dina and the inn and the interesting aliens she meets. I adore Helen and have so much fun with the aggressive vampires and how Maud fits right in and yet stretches them and makes them better. I am facinated by the ad hal magic and want to know more about them, the arbitraitors, and Maud’s unfolding magic. I desparately want to know what happened to Dina and Maud’s parents. I love all the world you build, but I think this one is my favorite!
I will read and love anything you write in this universe. It is my favorite out of all of the universes you’ve written, even more so then Kate Daniels and Hidden Legacy (and I love those too!) All of your stuff is on my instant buy list! Most of all Inn Keeper / Maud!
I very much appreciate the fact that Inn Keeper is clean enough for me to share with my teens. My whole household is full of voracious readers, and you have a new generation growing to love your work. 😀
Two of my seven kids are aspiring authors and I refer them to your writing for examples of excellence in craft, and to your blogs for insight into the writing process and industry (as well as just for general fun!). Thank you so much for all you give to your fans!
neal bravin says
All of the above and where is George and the brother Klaus(?) and where are her parents? Family reunion time my lords. ANd, is Dina preggo yet? So many unfinished story lines, so little time.
Melody says
If they go to search for their parents they should both (or all including Klause) be involved.
Lisa says
That’s a hard choice to make. Dina came along 1st, so love seeing what else she and the inn can do. But I loved the new world of Maud and Arland. Their story meshed very well. Maud having to prove herself to the family was great since she did it so well. So voted for Dina; but doesn’t mean Maud doesn’t deserve her own time too.
Margaret says
Technomancer please…..or the next Hugh book.
Wes D says
Originally I asked don’t make me pick thinKing “don’t be rude and demanding” but I saw your comment of “not helpful” so..
Maud and Arland so we can meet Klaus!! Please and thanks. ????
Patricia says
Is this the poll? I figure Klaus will come in no matter which sister starts the story. :-0)) I pick Dina and Sean and the Inn.
Kristina says
I really really miss the Inn and Dina. I also love their story with Sean. I like Maud, Helen, and Arland, and I’d love to see more of them, at the Inn ????.
I can’t wait to read more about them all!!!! Thank you for giving us more stories and characters to love.
AndrewC says
For me, you have two separate series that have moments of overlap (with another series already done tossed in as well) that make for excellent reading as well. So, I vote “Yes”. Yah, perhaps not helpful, but how I feel. One is more cerebral, the other more visceral. Helen’s interactions with ANYone are always priceless. Officer Marais and Dina & Sean make for great laughs.
Red wine or white? Scotch or Cognac? Apples or pears?
Please- Don’t ask me to choose.
Carla says
I really love all of the characters and all of the storyline that you’ve had in this world.I do love Dina and the Inn. I think my favourite thing, is when your characters from one collide with another. I loved how characters from your Edge series entwined into your inn series. That was so much fun! I had so missed the Edge. So I really can’t pick. They’re all amazing, they all fight when they must and I love it!
Robin says
I love both storylines, please please keep writing about both women! The only choosing I want to do is for the next 1 or 2 books to be about Maud & Arland so I can find out what happens next. Dina felt like she was left at a good resting point until her Inn is needed or her brother comes back. I want more story for her but you left her at a happy point so I’m more relaxed about waiting for her continuing story.
rose says
How about holding Maud and Arland’s wedding at the Inn then we get to see everyone and you don’t have to choose?
I love your books and don’t mind – I will read whatever you write.
Pam L. says
More of everything! I’m just greedy like that… but seriously, I voted for more inn action!
Leah LeBroc says
I loved all the characters. I want both that’s why I picked that I did not want to choose.
Sheila Jones says
How about George and Sophie? Will they, won’t they ever get together?
Kags says
I love the Innkeeper/Dina/Sean stories, but Maud’s was my favourite and I love the tradition of the vampire horde meeting other civilisations and learning how to change/grow without losing their essence. I’ve always loved clash of culture and how everyone benefits from communication and learning to respect to each other. Plus, heroine proves her worth, enemies most foul, politices and warfare! What’s not to love?
sarafina says
I just reread the first 2 Innkeeper books, and while I find Maud more interesting than Dina as a character Gertrude Hunt, with its guests and its powers is fascinating. Also, Dina’s knowledge of the different peoples and Baha Har are great. I think there is the possibility of more diversity with Dina, although if Maud opened an Inn that might be different.
Rowanmdm says
For the sisters, I want to read about whoever you are excited to write about.
But I really want a story about their brother. I want to know more about him!
Jessica Moore says
The Inn, I like the way other characters from the world are able to easily pop in and out. The cast in that house is so varied and interesting, without overpowering the main characters. I enjoyed Maud’s story and hope to see more, but the story wrapped nicely and she deserves a break. I really want the missing brother story!
Mags says
I have decided that I’m very greedy I Want it all don’t make me choose want to hear about Klaus,Missing parents, Maud Arland and the many ripper cushions that Helen will have also missing everybody at the Inn. So will wait with baited breath for whatever you write for us all, Many Many thanks for this wonderful series as with everything you write it excellent. Peace and Love to you all ????????????????????

but i will read anything any part of the story, I am committed!
Ines Silva says
Omg I was thinking the same way. ????
Denise says
I’m honestly invested in all of them.
Felicia says
Oh, you’re right. Need to change my vote from Maud and Arland to Dina and Sean. =p
Marta Kern says
I would like to choose both.
Jessica says
Yes! Time to find out where the parental innkeepers went. Also, that way we could have all the sibs!
Failing that, Dina, Sean, and the inn. I had vast amounts of fun with Sweep of the Blade, but the inns are absolutely fascinating. I want to get to know them better. And Dina.
Halcyon says
In my mind the logical timeline would be Krause”s story and then all siblings would search for the parents through the cat at the inn. Then again it is in my mind so warnin ya.
Ms. Kim says
+1. Didn’t think of that when I voted for the Inn.
Kate says
When Maud’s book started, I was irritated because I wanted to know about Dina and their parents. By the end I just wanted more Maud. Love her so much! But I do still love Dina!
UlrikeDG says
Same.
Heather says
Kate, I agree. Just such fantastic story-telling all around! I don’t want them to focus exclusively on either character, but definitely want more of each…and their brother.
Ray Craine says
They are both such great series it’s very hard to pick one over the other. If I had to choose, I’d go with Dina as I’m dying to see what her brother has to say and know more about finding her parents
ShellyB says
Maud book, please.
Ona Jo-Ellan Bass says
Love Dina, and I want to know more about Sebastian North, and what happened to her parents. At the same time, I like Maud and her little girl. But what I REALLY want is more about the characters from the Edge, especially the three who were teens at the end of the fourth book.
Lynn E says
I would like to see the scene where Dina and Sean meet the Innkeeper
Assembly. I would like to see Maud and Arland’s wedding.i would like to see how Klaus explains being an arbitrator and finally I would like to see the search for the parents.
Laura R. says
Yes! All the Innkeeper characters are interesting and a little quirky and I would love stories on any or all of them. Arlan’s mother and how she met and married her current husband….whom Helen has firmly wrapped around her little finger!
D says
I love both Maud and Dina as characters, and would love to follow more of both stories. I love the creativity and variety of cultures that walk through the door of the inn, but I would also love to see more of vampire society. Would you consider alternating between Dina and Maud? The Innkeeper books are some of my all-time favorites, and are among the books I reach for when life gets tough. Thank you for writing such wonderful stories.
Jennifer says
+1!
Vendetta says
I admit I am fascinated by the Inn but enjoy it all.
Sekimori says
All allall all all all. Write faster pls thx.
Leila says
You had previously mentioned possibly doing short stories next, and while surprises are nice, here are what comes to mind for me. I would love to see what happens with Dina and Sean at the council. Also I have a burning desire to know how Helen and Arland got covered in pitch.

For me the charm of the Innkeeper series was the Innkeeper herself Dina and the Gertrude Hunt of course. I do love Maud, Helen, and Arland, but it still feels like Dina’s story with them visiting, if that makes sense? Much like the Kate Daniels series – we had the side stories, but Kate was still the heart of it.
That’s pretty much how I feel about this series – I enjoyed Sweep of the Blade and will definitely enjoy other occasional side stories, but “home” is still Gertrude Hunt and I’ll miss it if we wander into side stories too often 😀
There, I have officially given a solid vote besides (yes please) and have fulfilled my readerly duty lol

Fighting by itself gets a bit boring. So Maud and Arland merely fighting is not that tempting. I have no suggestions regarding them, bar the mysterious cat and the precocious Helen.
The stories revolving around Dina, Sean and the inn are, in my opinion, more easily expanded. Fighting optional as a side dish.
All the different sorts of people visiting the inn and the problems they bring along to be solved can become interesting stories. A bit like a series of detective stories,(or heh heh Kate Daniels series) where the main protagonist solves one or two new cases/problems in each book. With the inn, we can also get introduced to new creatures/species, perhaps meet them on their home planets before they jump to Gertrude Hunt for some reason or other and then they might go back home again. We can also be given slight hints of the secrets that the old characters have, maybe a love interest or two.

THIS WAS SO HARD! I wanted to pick one or the other because it would probably have been more helpful, but I… just can’t pick! I definitely want to read more about Maud and I adore Helen but at the same time I really want to know about Dina and Maud’s parents.

Everyone teaming up for the parent search! <3 Good luck with your writing!

Ok so I would love a continuation or extension on Dina and Sean’s love story and the challenges they face in their relationship moving forward with all the hassles that would crop up because of the extreme risk clientele their inn caters for …. also Maud and Arland and Helen becoming stronger as the warrior family who are feared and anhilate their enemies with smarts and strategies and awesome fight scenes .. I love both of these types of stories honestly I’m good for either but hoping for both lol .. Dina and sean first though lol and thanks for allowing us to share our wishes!
Sherri says
I would like to see a Dina novel next, to learn more about her family and also how She and Sean learn to integrate their differences within the Inn framework. After that, Maud and Arland’s wedding. Your schedule permitting, of course ????
Wendy Wilson says
I agree with all these requests. I want to see innkeeper meeting, wedding, and Klaus maud and Dina reunion
Sarah says
I would love to read more about Maud, Helen and Arland . I would also love to learn more about the incredible missing parents. In all honesty, I’m going to read and love whatever you do next. Even my least favorite of my Ilona Andrews novels are re-reads . You do great work!
trailing wife says
I can’t choose one over the other — sorry! But really, I want the story in your head that’s crying the loudest to be told, even if, like Hugh, I loathe the character before you write it. Then I want the next loudest, and so forth.
We know that whatever you turn your hands [keyboards?] to will be well worth reading — I’m still stunned about the exercise you did some years ago for us, playing with the Little Red Ridinghood tale. And, to be honest, what you did with Hugh, who is now a regular in my reread cycle.
My heart cries out for more of whichever character’s story you published last. My mind knows that my heart will be blissfully happy with whichever character’s story you write next.
Mariah says
This is like trying to pick your favorite child!!
Janie says
I am entranced by Helen and just thinking about the possible offspring of Maud and Dina is a divine possibility!
Robina says
Sorry, I came late to this topic….
I loved Maud and Arland’s story (and would happily read more). However, this also seems like a natural place to end the focus on them. Their arc seems to have a natural and satisfactory conclusion, they could face further challenges and interesting developments, but the question becomes”When does the story stop?” Maybe as they draw their last breaths side by side surrounded by loved ones? That said, the book is great fun and I will happily spend more time with these characters.
I’m really interested in what’s happening with the mystery of Dina’s parents and the corrupted Adzhuls. I also think Helen’s story of finding her place would be awesome, although I would probably not be as interested in this as a main arc but as a side story. There’s lots of great YA novels out there, but as I get older I’m more interested in seeing some mature characters as well, with and without children…
Laura says
I’m not sure I would go so far as to say that Maud’s arc should end here, but it would certainly be a good pausing point. I feel like the issues we’re left with in Dina’s story are greater and I’m much more eager to get more of her story. We could even get Maud’s wedding as part of a Dina story, since surely Dina would be invited.
I will say that my favorite parts of Sweep of the Blade were when Maud got to show off her cultural knowledge, like with the insect-like people who were being misunderstood or the mounts who weren’t getting enough exercise.
I am also very much in favor of short stories, either Innkeeper or Kate Daniels world. I would love more Helen, more Alpha Dali, more Adam & Siroun, more Conlan, and especially more Derek.
DeeAnn Fuchs says
I did look for the “both” box but as it wasn’t there I chose Dina. I will certainly not complain if it’s Maud though. Both are great series. Thank you for writing!
Mary says
I’m a chicken. I like both stories. When you mentioned the short stories, I began to imagine all the moments that I would love to know about. When Armand asked Wing to carve a statue of Maud. When Helen gave Lord Soren the Christmas ornament. The first day Caledonia met Dina. Can Lady Ilemina and Outabar bring Helen to stay at the Inn for school break and have their own adventure ? But then there’s Klaus…. and George…Sebastian North…see…. flapping wings..chicken
Jocelyn says
I truly enjoy reading about both. I like when you alternate between the two or do a trilogy with one set, then the other. Although I am completely on board with the idea of furthering the quest to find the parents…
Gayle Sampson says
Write what inspires you. I’ll just keep reading. I hate it when people get all demandy for authors to write something specific. It’s just pushy and rude. Currently, I’m nursing my cold by rereading all the Kate Daniels books.
As the old saying goes, when you’re invited over to someone’s home who’s a good cook, you don’t ask what’s for dinner.
strangejoyce says
+1000!!! I’m co-signing on Gayle’s comment here for sure.
Debie says
Go with what feels right for the story. Love reading about all these characters
Sara says
Write wherever the story takes you. I fell in love with Maud in the last book, so definitely would be fine with more of her, but Dina is awesome too.
Alyssa says
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I never really liked Dina much. She felt a bit flat to me– like I didn’t root for her, although I enjoyed reading the series. I felt detached, I don’t know why.
On the other hand, I’m super in love with Maud & Arland & Helen.
Rowan says
I love everything you write. You took the most despised character from KD and made me kind of love him and that book became one of my favorites. But if you had asked me if I could ever feel anything but disgust for Hugh I would’ve laughed and laughed. So my opinion doesn’t matter because anything you write I will enjoy!
Victoria says
I couldn’t choose. I just really want more of both!
Honeybunny says
I voted “cannot choose” because I want them ALL *lol*
Could we, maybe, get
– the next book with all of them for the wedding (of course Dina and Sean would be there!) with a little of Klaus’ secret revealed, lots of Vampires fighting etc., and
– the book after with Maud and Arland honeymooning in the Inn, searching for the parents, revealing a dark, dangerous secret on the way because hey, vampires. They would so not go to a quiet beach for their honeymoon, would they?
Amber says
I chose none of the above! I cant! They are too much.
But if there were a fourth choice… perhaps for their brother…!
Roslyn says
I want to read more about everybody that you write about. I think you could write about the dictionary and make it engrossing and funny.
You are one of the very few authors that I would put aside what I was reading to read your new books, and every reread is as good as the first time. And every book is better than the last. I have no favorites because they are all my favorites.
So please just keep writing whatever you are inpsired to write, and whatever makes you happy and keeps you writing for as long as possible.
Veiligo says
I know I’m a little late to the party here, but I want to know more about the plot hook about with Cloud Cat and Sebastian North! Actually, I would like Klaus (the brother) to make an entrance and maybe have his own story 🙂
Patricia says
I picked Dina, Sean and the Inn, mainly because I love the Inn and I don’t enjoy fighting scenes much.
Maud and Arland are amazing, though.
But then, so are Dina and Sean.
KaReN says
I don’t want to pick because I like both series. But if I have to choose … let me flip a coin. Heads for Dina, Tails for Maud… flippinnnnggg… Tail – Maud.
EliEden says
I want to know about Dina’s parents and brother!!
Raven says
I would definitely love to find their parents and if you have enough material and time I’m all for any spin-off series later!!! Series that may or may not overlap chronologically ???????? I’m sure their brother has enough book worthy details in his live as an arbitrator too!! ( not to Throw more plot wrenches out there though lol)
Adrianne says
I would also like an all of the above choice. I will read anything in the Inkeeper Universe. <3
lena says
Dina, Dina, Dina!
Maud kicks ass, and Helen steals the show; but I got my shih-tzu mix and my hello kitty sleep shirt, and I want my own magic inn. I’ve never wanted to be a sword-wielding maniac, but I’d love to be an innkeeper!
Nicole says
Where is the “Yes to All” selection?!?!? I will read anything you write!
Victoria says
Love all of it and I get the impression that expanding the universe is good for your writing. You both have a fine sense of how to let the characters and plot develop and when to say ‘this story is told’. Thanks for all the great stories :o)
Liz Mansfield says
Sorry, Ilona. Who could choose ! That’s like saying do you prefer bacon or bacon ???? I want ALL the bacon, it’s your own fault, you created a world and characters that we love and want to see more of. I want to see Father to be Sean, Helen training under Otubar- Maud being happy and safe….Love all of them and really, just happy with whatever you decide to do- or have time for ????♀️
Leyns says
I think you will have affected the results of the poll by writing “Maude, Arland and fighting”. It’s not the fighting that I loved in Maude’s book, so even though I loved it, I don’t want to choose that option. I liked Maude’s strength, cleverness and determination – the fighting only demonstrated that.
In any case, I agree my preferred choice would be “all of the above”.
Mary says
There have been three books about Dina and the inn, I want more Maud. I like Maud and Arland because they are adults dealing with real world problems-there is no time for angst when some one is trying to cut your head off.
House Krahr is full of interesting characters and problems-not least of which is Helen. Will she become the warrior Maud is? Or will her stubbornness, drive and talent lead down the selfish, pride-driven path her biological father followed? Not to mention that Klaus, the missing Demille sibling who became an arbitrator and recruited George Camarine and his relatives, is waiting to see Maud at the end of SotB. I’m hanging on the cliff here.
Will the rank and file of House Krahr accept Maud, as Ilemina, Otubar, Soren, and Karat have? Is Karat going to find love? What happened to Soren’s wife, Karat’s mother? Are Kozor and Serak going to try to get revenge?
Tine says
As with everybody else, I am having a hard time choosing.
I would like to know what happened to the parents.
Klaus would be nice but I’m not invested as much in him as I am in the others, however, I would not turn away from a story about him.
I, personally, would love a story from Helen’s point of view.

Ilona & Gordon,
This is your playtime–a place to get away from contracted books. The fact that many of us, for so many reasons, love Innkeepers deeply doesn’t mean we can dictate anything about the evolution of your story. I want to know what happens next at the Inn. I want to know why SPOILER shows up at the end of SOB. I want to know where the Georgia Inn went, and why, and what comes next.
It has to wait until you want to pull yourself away from a contracted story and play. The fact that you can find time between contracted books, plus Life, for this corner of your universes, fills me with joy. Thank you, both of you. I’m very glad that our purchases showed you that it’s not just that we have followed along.
We really do love Innkeepers.
Thank you for asking. You have made such a fun place to visit–and revisit. Can’t wait until the next Innkeeper Tale. 🙂
Kathy says
Both!! Both are good!! (And I do love Maud – the whole “making your way in a foreign world and proving you are Just As Fierce” theme is one of my favorites!)
BJackson says
The main reason why I loved Sweep of the Blade was because of the world building and a chance to learn more about vampire society. So many writers don’t give adequate time to the anthropology and sociology of the characters’ worlds.
I really enjoy Dina and the Inn, but I don’t know where the stories can go long term.
Also, if it’s about what to spend time on I’d love another full length Kinsmen novel.
Jessica Crucy says
I love them all! Maud, Dina, Sean, Arland, they’re all wonderful.
Rowena Dhonnchaidh says
They both have such a different outlook on how to handle things.
BUT how to choose?
You have set it up so that Both of them are solvers of mysteries, and handle interesting situations.
Both of them are going to interact with the wide universe, and different species. Dina will have more problems come to her, but Maud will interact with the competitiveness of the vampires constantly jockeying, not to mention all the interesting things that the space station will bring.
THAT’s why I have an “I don’t want to choose.” I think Maud has an edge about real problems, as Dina is limited to the Inn, and of course, what trouble Sean gets into.
But what about the cat? The Ripper of Souls cat is the character I want to know about.
Adel says
Forever greedy. We want them all and we want them ASAP. Love to you both!
Jodi Morris says
I am sorry I missed the poll. HUGE Maud fan here though I love the whole series and want the brother and parents stories also.
Cindy says
I love Dina and Maud!! I love their bond. I don’t have that bond with my sister, so it’s refreshing to read it. I would dearly love to see how Maud and Dina deal with their brother being an Arbitrator. I imagine Maud lectures while Dina just smacks him then hugs him. My imagination is weird. I love the banter between all four characters and look forward to seeing how Sean and Armand do now that they are mostly brothers-in-law.
I don’t want to pick was my easy answer because you’ve built this world that allows us to go between the sisters or even put them together. It’s amazing.
Cindy says
Eeekkkk dang auto correct changed Arland!!! Omg I’m so freaking embarrassed!!
Monika says
I don’t care about which characters you write (love them all), but that there is fighting 😉
Elenariel says
I like Maud and Helen as characters a lot, maybe a tiny bit more than Dina, but the Inn has a loooot more plot possibilities since it has access to everywhere in the Universe! And characters’ connections.
I want to know about their parents, and a glimpse now and then on Sophie and George too!
Jenna says
My vote goes to wherever George will show up
IreneMBBT says
I’m also sorry to have missed the poll. We’ve had 3 Dina. I would LOVE at least 1 more Maud and Arland, preferably 2.
Thank You!!!!!
Jane says
My friend and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Maud and Arland and Helen. I liked Dina’s 3 books but absolutely devoured through Maud’s in record time. It’d be so awesome if we can have more Maud books. I love her character, specifically, her confidence and ability to fight and maneuver through various political nuances with each race. Arland is a strong alpha and I really enjoy reading about his strong feelings for Maud. Helen is a hoot – would love to read more about her also.
It was be so wonderful if there can be more Maud books to read. 🙂
Kelly says
I love both of them! There was so much chemistry with Arland and Maud that I couldn’t wait to see how their story flushed out.
Lindsey says
I’ve been hoping for more Dina books, so I was actually surprised at how much I liked Maud’s book. I don’t know why, I shouldn’t have been, of course everything you write is fabulous and Maud having her own book just gave me a chance to have more (previously side) characters to love. I’d love to read further books featuring either sister.
Xuracana says
I am anxiously and patiently (not impossible) awaiting more on Dina and Maud’s parents’ story. (More Orro anecdotes!) I like Maud’s abilities and cleverness, but the books about competent and kind Dina the Inn are my “comfort food” reading. If your next book in the series could have all three siblings together, I’d be thrilled. But I’ll buy and happily read whatever your next book is.
KD says
I don’t want to choose because I love it all. But I REALLY want to continue to follow the story arc around the S.N. cliffhanger, the innkeeper plague and what happened to Dina’s parents, whether that be from Arland and Maud’s perspective, or from Dina and Sean’s. I also LOVE the connection to George and the characters from the Edge series, so keep hoping that there will continue to be integration there. So many wonderful possibilities.
Thanks for all the great work in this universe and the others. The innkeeper serial releases have been such a joy to read, and the Friday release format brightened my week every week. Crossing my fingers that there might be another such project in the future…and that said, delighted with anything you release, in any format! Much appreciation for all you do!
Tara says
Apologies, I only just saw this. I REALLY enjoy both stories & would LOVE to, not only, read more about both couples, the Inn, & fighting, but also, it would be awesome if you could write about the parents (who I hope will show up eventually to explain their disappearance or be rescued) AND the elusive brother & his story. Here’s hoping!
Jennifer Morris says
I didn’t want to pick because I love the Inn and I love Maud, (e.g. you can’t really pick between space chickens and A Love That Should Be Doomed and Succeeds Against All Odds. I bought the Maud book because I knew you’d tidied up, there were a few extra goodies and I want to read the story through as a coherent whole. It also felt like giving back to you for the awesome pleasure of finding a new chapter posted!!!
And while I totally don’t understand how you have time to write stuff for us for fun, please don’t take this to in any way to mean that I don’t adore the serials! It feels almost like I can be part of the creative process. You write a bit, I read it, I imagine everything that might happen next, I read the next bit you write, I find out am totally wrong, I giggle wildly and all starts over.
You guys are great. Thank you.
Rey says
I would love to read more about Dina, Sean and inn. But anything you wrote will be devoured anyway, thank you so much for the wonderful series!
Cheryl says
I missed the poll also. But whatever you write I will gladly read. Very Big fan of the Innkeeper and her family. Just finished re-reading the Kate series and waiting for the next installment of Dina or Maud or related person you want to write about.
Jeff says
I just really enjoy all of them. Every single one. The stories are balanced and gosh darn fun. Don’t make me pick. Please.
JC says
I can never get enough of Dina and Gertrude Hunt. That relationship feeds my homebody soul. I want to see them both grow and develop. I love Dina’s interactions with Beast, Caldenia and officer Marais too. I tried Funyuns for the first time in my long life because of Caldenia.
Tina says
I love reading about Dina and the Inn. When I started reading SOB I assumed it was going to continue with Dina’s story and was surprised it was Maud’s story. But, I loved the book. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Kai Jones says
Maud’s book had to do a lot more worldbuilding because it wasn’t set on Earth with the background knowledge that didn’t have to be constantly explained. Apparently a lot of people like your worldbuilding (including me) in addition to the great characters, interest plots, and terrific dialogue.
