Sunday’s Child, a novella by Grace Draven is out today. So yesterday Grace calls me.
She: I finally uploaded it.
Me: Oh good. Send me the cover. I’ll post it on the blog.
She: Thank you.
Me: Of course I would be able to do a better post if someone had sent me an early copy of this novella. And the short story that goes with it.
She: Aha…
Me: If only certain someone had sent me a copy.
She: No. You’re not getting a copy. You’re on a deadline, you’re trying to close on the house, and you still need to pack, not to mention your home improvements. You don’t have time to read.
Me: You suck.
She: Go on. Get on with all this stuff.
Sigh. Here is the cover and the description. I’m sure it’s good, but I wouldn’t know. ::eye roll::
The holiday season has arrived, and museum archivist Claire Summerlad envisions a lonely Christmas for herself and her autistic son…until she meets a mysterious new co-worker who seems strangely familiar.
The memory of a Christmas past is brought back to life when Andor Hjalmarson is introduced to the woman he once called Sunday’s Child. A thousand years of exile has made Andor a nomadic wanderer, but is a future with Claire possible with a centuries-old punishment hanging over his head?
Father Christmas meets Norse mythology in this holiday novella from the author of RADIANCE.
–SUNDAY’S CHILD is a holiday novella originally published in the duology All the Stars Look Down. This stand-alone edition also contains the bonus short story, THE KING OF HEL (previously published by Amber Quill Press).–

Thank you Grace 😀

Thank you Grace, and thank you Ilona! By the way, if I were down in Texas, I’d help with the move, but since I’m not and can’t, I’ll just suggest plenty of caffeine and fast, loud music.
Kristi says
I’ll click.
Good luck with closing tomorrow!
SoCoMom says
I already like it hugely from this description. As a single mom who just finished a nightmare of a house sale-closing, packing, and self move with self and autistic son from a large house to a small apartment (which was then evacuated for over a week due to a catastrophic fire), I will definitely buy this book and intend to enjoy it immensely in my new space, with a cat draped on me, surrounded by my Impressionist posters from museums in Paris.
Anna says
Awesome! Just bought
Uhhh.. Grace.. If you see this… Wraith Kings #3? Please please please, just a date? I’ve read the other two over and over, I need mooooooore 🙂
Grace says
Hi Anna. The plan is to roll out The Ippos King during the first half of 2018–barring any unforeseen obstacles.?
Ms. Kim says
thank-you.

I would love to read this story, but there is no Nook link to buy it. I could use the iTunes link, but then I would have to read it on either my phone or my personal computer. I read on my Nook without using my wireless internet. Hmmm…..
Patricia Schlorke says
Update to my last post. I did find the book for the Nook. So any of the BDH who likes to get their books from Barnes and Noble, go to the B&N website, and search for Grace Draven. Lo and behold her books are there! Yay!

Sounds intriguing!

Thanks so much Ilona for introducing me to Grace Draven’s novels. I’ve really been enjoying them, and I’m looking forward to reading this one. In fact, I look up all the books you’ve recommended, and have added a number of authors to my must-read list!
Patience says
She: A good friend.
Lallcine says
Is the novella about Maude you were planning to release around Christmas still in the works or was it pushed back to make way for Kate 10?

Sarah says
Author goddess, why do you need a copy? You mean you didn’t read it as part of the “All the Stars Look Down” duology? What kind of friend are y… wait… you want the bonus material! OK, friendship status sustained. Lol. I love Grace Dave’s work, and am considering ordering this even though I already own the previous publication. The cover is beautiful.
Tink says
Sounds like Grace would be the friend bailing you out of jail instead of the one sitting next to you. 😉
Isn’t she also close enough for you to guilt-trip her into coming over to help you pack, or at least move? 😛
Chris Henderson-Bauer says
Everyone needs at least one of each. 🙂
Good luck with packing and everything else!
Rowan Eden says
That cover is beautiful! I would buy it for that alone! It sounds wonderful even though you don’t really know that. ?
Sue Diamond says
Grace is a wonderful author and apparently a great friend. She only wants the best for you, even if it makes you feel like a rebellious teenager. ?
Just work one job at a time off that list and know that we all support you. Unfortunately New Zealand is a little bit too far to come and physically help. You can do it. X
Barbara says
It’s a wonderful story, well worth checking out if you don’t already have it as part of the urology it was first published in.
Hope all goes well with the upcoming move!
Patricia Schlorke says
“…as part of the urology it was first published in.” When I read that I got a very good laugh out of it. The joys of autocorrect. Thanks Barbara!
Simone says
I read it as part of the anthology and loved the story! Good luck on the move.
seantheaussie says
THAT is a friend!
seantheaussie says
Does Grace Draven write about conscious friendship and loyalty in any of her books? Writing like
“Feeling extremely foolish, Adele also started toward the islet, keeping to the right of the opening. If she’d had her pistol she might have done some good. So far as she could tell, this was no better than suicide. Still, she was acting out of cold analysis, not passion: she knew she’d rather be killed than live to remember that she’d let her only real friend die alone” — David Drake — Lt Leary Commanding
reallllly gets to me. If Grace writes like she lives I will give her a more serious try.
Patricia Schlorke says
I got Sunday’s Child this morning, and with it is a story called The King of Hel. This very short story is about friendship and loyalty. You might like it. I did. I kept wanting the story to go on.
Patricia Schlorke says
My post is in response to seantheaussie’s post.
seantheaussie says
Thanks Patricia.
“I kept wanting the story to go on.” Good short stories are like that.
A reader in DC says
This made my weekend! I’ll be buying it tomorrow. I’ve been a huge Grace Draven fan ever since you recommended Master of Crows. Thanks for the heads up and good luck with the house stuff.

I had already read Sunday’s child as part of the Anthology, very nice story, sweet.

Marianne says
Thank you for the cover and description. Grace is a good friend to realize how much you already have on your plate and not want to add to it. Good luck with the closing (YAY!), with the packing, deadline, home improvements, and the move!! If I were closer, I would offer to help with the move (and gather some additional laborers to bring with me)! Hope you have lots of help! So happy for you that things are working out with the house!! ?
Tori says
It IS good. 🙂 I read it when it was in the anthology. Good luck moving.
Katie Beattie says
Looking forward to the bonus story. Thanks for introducing me to Grace . Good luck with the move…..
Tiff says
Dagnabbit, it’s not a new story! The bonus one was though.
