Since the Oscars are just around the corner, it seems only fair that the Book Devouring Horde hold their own awards ceremony.

Andrea donated some extra-long purple shag carpet and Steve said any machine is a smoke machine if he operates it, so the ceremony part is clearly handled.
We just need you to pick the most beloved winners. Polls will stay open until next Friday and I’ve tried (operative word) to enable multiple options. You should be able to choose two answers in these, the most impossible of choices. Mwahaha!
Everything happened so much this week, why not pour your favourite drink and relax by thinking about your favourite among these capable, fierce men:
Best Male Lead in an Ilona Andrews Book or Series
- Curran Lennart - Kate Daniels World (25%, 3,213 Votes)
- Connor Rogan - Hidden Legacy (21%, 2,698 Votes)
- Hugh d'Ambray - Iron Covenant (15%, 1,878 Votes)
- Sean Evans - Innkeeper Chronicles (11%, 1,437 Votes)
- Roman Tihomirov - Sanctuary (10%, 1,242 Votes)
- Arland Krahr - Innkeeper Chronicles (9%, 1,169 Votes)
- Alessandro Sagredo - Hidden Legacy (7%, 912 Votes)
- William, Lord Sandine - Bayou Moon (2%, 296 Votes)
Total Voters: 8,961
But Mod R, there’s only one leading man from the Edge! So much squandered hunkiness! Yes, he’s my favourite, I love him the best, and this is my poll *phhhrrrrbttt*.
Now it’s your turn to nominate:
Suppose you wake up in an Ilona Andrews world* the way Maggie does in This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me: cold, confused, and very much alone. The protagonists are busy saving the day, so they’re not available to help you. Which supporting character do you go looking for first?
*Because the Innkeeper world is our world, we’ll mix it up and have you waking up in Baha-char, with nothing on you, not even a sneaker to trade the muckrats.
And if you can’t wait to find out how Maggie handled the world of her favourite series, reminder that the first chapters of This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me are currently running as a serial over at Reactor Magazine and are available as an extended preview for readers served by the US edition.
Take care out there, BDH!

I have to go with Roman. He is such a softie at heart and he might be able to persuade his Momma to use her magic to send me home (after divulging my many secrets, of course).
If I wake up in Baha-char I’d head for Wilmos and get directions for the Inn even is Dina is unavailable I might convince her Grace to help me out. At the very least Orro might make me something delicious. Either way, the Inn sounds to me to be a good place to start.
Ooh, if I wound up in Baha-char I would look for Cookie! He is ‘in the know’ everywhere, has the trading, bartering down pat and is so darn cute I’d be running my fingers along his fur!
Just stumbled upon your work. The blurb for “Beast Business” appealed to me, but due to a quirk in my personality I cannot jump into a series in the middle, so I went back and started the Hidden Legacy series from the beginning. I binged, then jumped to the Edge, then the Innkeeper Chronicles. I was avoiding Kate Daniels, because once I start that series I will be immersed for weeks. In any case, I’m a fan now, so I am signing up to receive whatever you care to send in email form.
Welcome to the BDH. You have chosen wisely. lol
Warmest welcome! You will have so much fun with Kate 😀
Rejoice! The Horde expands!
Plan ahead for your first read of KD- vacation week, food laid in that can b eaten w one hand, as the other will b holding your reading device of choice. Sleeping between books…
And a welcoming horde, here for u…
I have to agree with looking up First Scholar Thek. I assume I would have to debate my way into his good graces and a change of clothes. And yes once that is taken care of the the only thing I really want to do is to finagle my way into Orro’s kitchen in time for desert.
For Kate Daniels, I would pick Luther.
truly if I woke up in one of your stories I’d go looking for MII and prime Montgomery
The beast of Cologne.
Or Derek.
Arabella at House Baylor Investigations! She has an office so I could make an appointment and approach without getting smashed and she’s into foreign fantasies and may be open-minded about the situation.
Mod R. I can’t seem to find the “All of the Above” button for either vote. Each and every one is awesome in their own way.
The question said Baha Char. I’d go to Wilmos, tell him I’m looking for Dina.
If I were to wake up in Baha -Char with nothing, I think I would try to find Wilmos. He would be able to outfit me. I would owe him a favor, but, hey, you only live once!
If I woke up in the KD universe I would go find Roman. He’s reasonable, powerful, and willing to help.
If I woke up in the Hidden Legacy Universe I would find the members of House Harrison. They have stalwart morals. I would feel safe in their care. Also they have cats.
Grandma Frieda
We definitely need some “Best Supporting” because George, Gaston, Orro, Caldenia, Arabella,Helen and soooo many others need the kudos! 😉
KD/AR- Luther, admittedly, he’d have to lick me, but then he’d realize I’m not from there and be so intrigued he’d help a girl out.
Edge: Secretly believe we already live there therefor does not apply.
Bahachar: Clan Nuan, they’d be easy to find and the cost may be unexpected but we could come to some deal… that I may regret later. But that’s Tomorrow Kathryn’s problem.
Hidden Legacy: Scroll Inc’s local HQ. Will pipette and do data entry for help. also see Luther comments, I am a genetic oddity there.
Kinsmen: I don’t need help, just passion cones.
Breach Wars: Well clearly not the Sophont hiding government…
Alphas: Chernobog help me, I’d probably be dead before I realized it.
If we can mix and match series, I would want Kate to show up and whisk me away to some place safe (like Dina’s inn!) Would really foul up the story line, but you said we could pick who we wanted. LOL
Sorry, I didn’t retain that we were looking for secondary characters. Is Roman some what a secondary character? I guess not since he has had his own story to tell. So, I guess I could depend on Jim (prior to taking over the pack) to help me find some place safe to stay. Which might even be pack headquarters. But I would really like to get to the Inn–custom rooms, gorgeous facilities, top of the line security, and excellent food! And a cute dog!
I would find Orro and beg him to make me a meal.
Innkeeper: I would find George, because he would know how to fix it.
Inheritance: I would find Bear so that the bestest dog could take me to Ada for protection.
Hmm…I think I’d want to wake up with an Inn close by. None of the protagonists need to be there, but I would love to go to Gertrude Hunt!
In KD I’d look for Barbaras or Julie – they could get me to Kate, who doesn’t know it yet, but will be my bestie alongside Andrea.
In HL, I’d look for Arabella, she is a quick thinker and can get me access to Nevada who would be able to validate my story!
If I was dropped in Atlanta, Baranas is my go to. Smart, non nonsense and knows all the players.
When in Baha – char, Wilmos is my man. He has lots of nice big guns to help keep me safe until I can get to Gertrude Hunt.
Barabas. I will happily leave auto correct in this world.
Pardon the incorrect name. . I will happily leave auto correct in this world.
I would look for Kate. She’s easy to find (ex: the kraken incident), always willing to help, and knowledgeable enough to do so. If anyone could get me home or give me a purpose and a way to survive in this new world, it would be her. Plus I’d get to pet a mammoth and a baby prehistoric rhino and meet the helpful Narra.
Kirsten has the answer – I go with her.
I would find Wilmos. I think I might convince him to help me find the the portal to Gertrude Hunt. I bet he has a token to use to gain entrance. or at least knows how contact Sean and Dina.
Andrea. I want Andrea to find me, help me, keep me safe. Like as if I was a bouda. Because I am so going to be taken out on page effing 1 without her 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Andrea!!! Where you at grl????
Somehow find Arland, and bribe him with some coffee to get me to Dina!
😉
Julie deserves moree votess, she is great as a character 😭❤️ and I hope Derek gets a spot in the futureee🤞🏻 I’m still waiting for their book.
+1
I guess I’d look to George (The Edge/Innkeeper series)
Me naked and alone in Baha Char is surely the contravention of numerous laws, including common decency.
And he’s so good with sword!
And so pretty!
And George would know how to get me to Gertrude Hunt. After a lengthy stay there, including tea with Her Grace and munching on Orro’s delicious desserts, I guess I’d HAVE to go home. (Dang!)
This was hard— I changed my mind several times. Basically, the heroine or hero whose story I’m reading is my favorite
I will admit that I have thought about transmigrating into one of Ilona Andrews worlds many many times and as much as I love the Kate Daniel series I would not survive in that world. I am also not smart enough for the Hidden Legacy world. The only one I would feel some what hopeful in is the Earth side of Innkeeper. I would love to meet Orro and try one of his donuts or anything really. I would love to be a guest and just be an observer. Again, I would only survive if I stayed in the Earth side. Maybe I could befriend Officer Marais help him if I could get one of those special baton.
All the other worlds I will just enjoy them from the safety of my reading nook. 🥰
Today is my birthday and I had been saving reading the preview of Maggie as a present to myself 🙂
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!
Thank you House Andrews – I am spinning in circles, arms in the air, squealing and yahooing 🙂
Very fun! So many positive things I could say, but the time change just happened, it morning n too early. I hope to see more from any and all characters in the hidden legacy series!
Has to go to Kate & Curran imo, just because we have more material with them so we see a more of their character (the transformation of Curran is just chefs kiss, he cannot be topped for me)
Rogan & Dina are my runner ups!
I would go find Dina. She knows everyone and quite a few people owe her favors. Especially the arbitrators. Get r done.
Oopps, missed the secondary character part. Time change has messed with my reading ability.
Okay, I would have to go with Wilmos to protect me and get me to Dina for help.
In Hidden Legacy I would look for Cornelius – he is approachable, has his secrets, and listens – where was Augustine has his secrets and would be very “put out” if you hinted that you knew any of them…. and might not make it through the scenes
In Kate, I’d pick Luthor – who probably with his wizard magic could see that I’m not from around there but curious enough to see where it runs.
I agree with someone else’s assessment for Thek in Baha Char
In Kinsmen – I would go with the Davenports, as Haider has proven to be a critical thinker and willing to take a moment to listen too.
If I were to wake up confused and empty handed, naked and afraid, in the hidden legacy world I’d go looking for Grandma Frida.
maud
but GEORGE.
at least Roman lol
Space Chickens!
Derek!
Officer Marais. He would know there was someone in trouble and go help… and he has seen a lot weirdness
honestly, he also just seems like a very standup guy
I would seek Her Grace, Caldenia ka ret Magren, Letere Olivione
I think I’d go looking for Wilmos, he’s connected, he’s safe and definitely I’d go to him if troubles are after me.
In the KD world- I’ll definitely go look for Kate because despite her hard exterior she’s definitely a softie. Also, wherever Kate is, Curran will be so I’ll definitely be getting the 2 for 1 special
Look, no Declan option is evil for the edge xD
I also love William – the damaged child, fixed moral compass, combined with the whole “loving with all your heart thing” gets me every time.
I had to wait a long time, however my husband is a Willam and was very well worth the wait.
If I woke up in the Hidden Legacy world, I would go to Cornelius Harrison. He is very responsible, does the right thing, and there are so many pets to play with! I feel he would be compassionate to my plight.
If I woke up in the Edge, I would go to Rose’s Grandma. She strikes me as a lady who gets stuff done.
If I woke up in the Innkeeper world, I’m pretty sure Caledonia would be my go to. A crafty mind like hers would be all kinds of help. If she can help fend off the Draziri without ever leaving the Inn, I’m sure helping me out when I arrived without anything to my name would be child’s play.
If I woke up in Hidden Legacy world, I would go to Mrs. Rogan. She is extremely wise and kind and seems like she would be helpful.
