Happy Monday! Today we are bringing you the sign up form for a Zoom Chat with us and Jessie Mihalik.
Jessie’s new book, SILVER & BLOOD, is coming out on January 27, 2026. I really loved it, and now we get to talk to her about worldbuilding and the price magic exacts for its miraculous power.

The Zoom chat is scheduled for 4:00 pm, on Saturday 24th. We will record and upload the recording to YouTube and to the blog. Registrations is capped at 500 so spots will go fast.
Please comment with your questions for this panel or send them to Mod R through email.
About SILVER AND BLOOD

On a deadly mission to kill the mythical beast that has been haunting her woods, a desperate mage finds her fate intertwined with the handsome, powerful man who saves her in this dark and sexy romantasy—perfect for readers of Jennifer L. Armentrout, Callie Hart, and Holly Black.
There’s something in the woods…
When a vicious beast begins attacking her fellow villagers, Riela reluctantly agrees to enter the forbidden forest and kill the monster as she’s the only mage available—or so she thought.
Untrained and barely armed, Riela is quickly overwhelmed when one beast turns into two. She fears her death is at hand until the unexpected arrival of a scarred, strikingly handsome man with gleaming moonlit magic changes her fate—and provides a rare opportunity to learn more about her own fickle power.
After being rescued and healed from the beast’s poison, Riela awakens in a magical castle complete with a gorgeous library, a strange wolf, and the surly man who saved her life. She soon learns Garrick is both more powerful and far deadlier than a mere mortal mage—but thanks to a century-long curse, his powers are weakening.
Trapped in his castle and surrounded by the treacherous woods, the spark of attraction between Riela and Garrick slowly ignites into fiery desire. But the more they discover about Riela’s magic, the more suspicious Garrick grows of her identity. As they unravel the secrets and lies connecting Riela’s past to Garrick’s, the tenuous threads of trust between them start to fray.
Because Riela’s life—or her death—might be the key to regaining everything Garrick has lost.
Also, while you wait, Jessie has a free story available on her site. It’s unrelated but no less fun.

Love her writing.
First?
First 🙂
you were… just second this time.
Ooh – thank you for this!
signed up 🙂
I forgot I already read the short previously. Thanks for the link.
Happy Monday
Have the book pre-ordered. I did that when I got the newsletter from Jessie way back when the pre-order was available.
From what I read of the snippets on Jessie’s website, it’s going to be a really good book. Can’t wait to read it! 😊
Is the 27th going to be BOOK day? Beast Business, This Kingdom will not Kill me preview and now this book from Jessie? It sounds like like the 27th is going to be a good day for BDH.
it’s absolutely a BOOK DAY! All the planets are getting cozy blankets and aligning for a read-a-thon!
Meanwhile, northern lights tonight for the lucky ones! Probably a little too far south here, but the top half of the country may see them; solar storm, dark of the moon, and reasonably clear skies in some locations are aligned. The rest of us will make do with hot drinks and lots of stars.
Looking forward to Silver and Blood; I’m going to read the story in the interim!
Yep! 🎇🥳
That story is really cute! I read it before, but read a couple of chapters as a refresher.
Question: Will this chat contain spoilers that you need to be “present” for or will the recording have everything?
Thanks for sharing! 🤗
I don’t think we’ll have a spoiler section, no, it’s pre-release 🙂
Thanks! It’s important to be present if Gordon is, to not miss anything exciting for the future. Wasn’t sure Jessie’s stance on that. 🤣
Really enjoy her writing. What made her want to shift from sci-fi to romantasy? Is this going to be a trilogy? I was able to read a eARC and loved it! Will we get more of some of the key side characters?
Thank you!
I haven’t read anything by Jessie yet. I am going to check out the free story, but do you have any suggestions for a good start into her universe while wa***ing for the new drop?
Omg, Polaris Rising, Polaris Rising! One of my absolute faves, it’s so good!
Polaris Rising is the perfect book to start, one of my favourites too.
Lovely Zoom Event to look forward to ✨️
I third Polaris Rising. The entire series is really good. 😁
Thank you BDH, Polaris Rising it is!!!!
Yes, Polaris Rising is awesome. It’s on my Keeper, Comfort Read shelf. Jessie is an auto-buy for me.
I really enjoyed her Queen’s Gambit series!! Unfortunately Polaris Rising was a little too insta love for me, tho the world building was great
Anyone else having trouble with the registration link? It takes me to the Zoom page but no place to register.
The registration pops up for me, please try to clear your cache or refresh 🙂
Love her books! The story was fun.
Thank you so much to Ilona and Gordon for doing this!! 😍 I can’t wait to chat with them and answer any questions you all have!
Thank you for your stories! I really enjoy them! 🤗
I like the Starlight’s Shadow series. Hunt the Stars is the first novel. There is also a prequel novella.
I’m not able to sign up for the discussion through the link. Have all the spots been filled? Thanks!
No, there are plenty of spaces left and I’ve just checked the link and it works. Maybe refresh/clear cache? 🙂
I’m having issues with signing up too. The Zoom page comes in as blank, even after hard refresh and clearing the cache 🙁 Will try again later.
It might be the pop up blocker.
As Ilona says, you may have a pop-up blocker 🙂
Also, if you’re logging in with an email linked to your job, sometimes there are restrictions placed on what you can join on Zoom, or regional restrictions.
Several hundred people managed to register, so it’s unlikely there’s a bug on Zoom’s end.
Thanks for the story! LOVED it! The book looks great too!
Had to go put in my pre-order before I came back to comment here. Thank you for the heads up and the link to the story on her website
I’ve read Jessie’s books, starting with The Queen’s Gambit, since Ilona recommended her on this blog.
Thanks HA for making this Zoom event happen!
I love Jessie’s books. Hunt the Stars being one I re-read on the regular.
A couple questions:
Any chances we’ll see more of the sorcerer next door?
I really appreciate the book recommendations on Jessie’s site. Are there any books from lesser known authors she’s looking forward to this year?
Looking forward to this!
thank y, just registered for the zoom. looking forward to it
A local indie bookstore has an event with Jessie Mihalik and two other authors the following day that I already signed up for…. I am working at not being greedy since this event will be available later too.
This will be such fun!
I signed up! I really liked the Consortium Rebellion series. I haven’t read any of her other books…this should be fun.
All of Jessie’s books are really good. I have every book she’s written and have Silver and Blood on pre-order. 😊
I didn’t sign up for the Zoom since I’ll be at work. I am number two on the hold list at my library.😊I look forward to watching the recording later. Have fun.
The registration link seems to work fine on a desktop, but it didn’t come up at all on a mobile device.
I checked some more devices. The two devices it mysteriously doesn’t work on are both iPads, but it worked on two iPhones and a different iPad, as well as two desktops running Windows.
Yay for a zoom chat!
My questions: Jessie, what inspired you to write a fresh take on a fairytale? And I want to say thank you for the amazing, adorable comfort read short story on your website. I loved it, especially the creature pet from the Other. What exactly is the Other? Is it kind of a like a faeland or is like another dimension or a portal situation?
To Ilona and Gordon,
Given that This Kingdom is a larger body of work than your typical work, how did you guys figure out how to pace the story? Was that something you guys had to think about while writing it or was that figured out more in the editing phase? I’m so excited to read the preview next week!
and
(this might be to Gordon for the spoiler section): I was rereading the inheritance last week and I’m excited for when Elias and Adaline meet again or work together on something. I’m wondering what plot device are you guys thinking of using for that? examples: will one of them have to fight off an attacker in a breach to help save the other and then Adaline’s updated talent will be out in the open? will they have a common enemy that they realize they have to join forces to be able to win? or will one of them have a dilemma that they need info about so they’ll be forced to trust them.eg it’ll require Adaline or Elias showing their hand or providing insight into what they know about sapient creatures and other worlds?
Question 🙋🏻♀️… will a recording be available? I wasn’t able to view it on Saturday (weather 🤣) and would like to watch the interview with a friend.
The recording is already up 🙂 https://ilona-andrews.com/blog/zooms-and-innkeeper-the-reprintening/
Jessie’s book is so wonderful and fun. I’m immediately furious she hasn’t produced the next, but will just need to reread it and then all her other series too.
