We have fun news. If all goes well, we should have some free fiction available for you on the blog soon, hopefully before the month’s end.
We’ve received edits for Ruby Fever. They are extensive, as we expected, so Ruby Fever will be ready for the beta read in late January/ early February.
We also concurrently have this other project that we can’t discuss yet. It’s a bit labor intensive.
Due to the volume of our current professional obligations, we are going to step back from blogging. During the pandemic, so many of you sent us messages letting us know how much the blog and the community meant to you, and in response, we’ve tried to blog every weekday because it was that little bit we could do to keep everyone’s spirits up.
The pandemic has lingered but one can’t exist in a state of crisis forever. From now on, we will blogging a couple of times a week. We will still have fun content like free fiction, quizzes, and upcoming zoom chats with other authors. This doesn’t mean we are divorcing or quitting writing. It just means that after doing our best to be a cheerful spot, we are shifting back into a more professional lane. It’s time.
We’ll have more for you on the upcoming releases and other news when we get a bit more words on the page.

Sounds good to me. I’m happy to look forward to Ruby Fever and Hugh 2.
Doing a big re-read of Kate right now – up to Magic Breaks and the bunnycat has just appeared (of course it’s not an abomination!)
Lori Clairmont says
Merry Christmas
Thank you for everything you do.
Patricia Schlorke says
I join in the BDH and say thank you for all you do. Mod R’s wrangling of the BDH is so cool, and we just absorb her into our ranks. 🙂 I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year.
For all the Hello Kitty fans (we’re looking at you Matilda), Simple Human (the ones who sell sensor pumps for handwashing and trashcans) teamed up with Hello Kitty to have a limited time Hello Kitty trashcan and sensor pump. It’s so darn stinking cute!
Sivi says
Thank you and looking forward to any of the blogs no matter when they get published. You guys have been great throughout this and I just wanted to say thank you
Michele G says
I appreciate every thing that is written on this blog. And fully understand that you need to get back on track with what is best for you.
When you want to send us an update / cat & dog pics / house Andrews shenanigans, then I personally will be delighted with that. ❤️
We will be here. Thank you.
Melissa says
So many chuckles for me from your blog posts among the other interesting items. Even when I don’t comment, please know I am smiling or growling or laughing or whatever whenever I read your blogs. Thank you to the stars and back (to paraphrase).
Hilary says
The blogs are a fun treat during the weekday that adds an extra bit of sunshine to the world. But it’s just that, an extra treat, and I will appreciate any bits and bobbles that pop up, no matter how frequent or infrequent. Much appreciation for the extra notes during the pandemic, and totally agree that while the disease remains, life does go on. Wishing you lots of holiday blessings and lots of fun writing whatever you end up writing.
As an aside… my mother’s a retired English teacher if you ever want help working on edits… I’d be happy to help and that’s only partly because I’m super excited to read anything you write! hehe
Rose says
Thank you so much for what you’ve done and continue to do!

House Andrews has always been incredibly generous. The BDH is grateful, and hopefully understands that you need balance to continue to bring such wonderful stories to fruition.
To more bibliocrack in the future!

It’s always a joy to check in on yous guys! Thank you for trying to provide such consistent content to keep us cheered and cheerful ????

Anything and anytime you share with us, it’s a gift! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Leslie says
Thank you for all that you do for your fans, House Andrews! Your blog posts are always a highlight to my day, but will be just as cherished when they are not as frequent because you are busy living life and writing!
Johanna J says
Thanks for everything you (House Andrews and ModR) have done. Getting our lives back on track is something positive to move toward. You all certainly deserve it. We’ll look forward to any new blog entries and stories you send our way on whatever schedule.
Wishing you a holiday and new year full of nothing but the good stuff. Hey, anything is possible. ????
Cathy says
I have loved keeping up with y’all.
Lena08 says
Thank you so much for everything you’ve done and are still doing. It has meant a great deal and it did help to keep my spirits up, and forget for a moment about what’s been going on around the world. It was a much needed break and thank you so much for helping us. I also read and reread a lot of your books and that helped too. You are such wonderful, caring and thoughtful people.
Meredith says
Please take some quiet time and worry about yourselves first. We’ll always be soooooo thirsty but you just gave us Fated Blades, which made me want to re-read Kinsmen, which made me want to re-read Edge, etc. on and on in a neverending loop.
Happiest of Decembers to you and the fam!
Sarah Richardson says
Meredith, I did the same exact thing. Finished rereading the Edge, and thought, “is it too soon to reread Hidden Legacy?” Maybe I’ll wait a few months so I have time to forget my favorite bits.
SuperJD says
Good with me, I love any posts you care to share but I’ve never expected anything. Above all, have fun!
Becky says
It is amusing that you had to specify that you are not divorcing or quitting writing just because you aren’t posting everyday. 🙂
Moderator R says
You would be surprised at the messages with speculation on House Andrews’ personal lives. Not only do these break the social norm boundaries, they have a degree of familiarity and frankly callousness that is outraging.
And the “you’re not working together because you’re divorcing and that’s why Ruby Fever is delayed” is chief amongst them.
Patricia Schlorke says
Whoa! Uh?! Those who think and say that are rude and inconsiderate. To comment on someone’s personal life like that, I have no words. ????♀️
jewelwing says
O_O To paraphrase someone or other, my ability to even has been severely compromised.
*Yes, I do know whom I’m paraphrasing.
Dirk says
I bet this has been answered before – but how could one become a beta reader?
I’m sure there are only about 2 million volunteers to do this, so I assume I’ll get an immediate response to this request /sarcasm 🙂
Moderator R says
Hey Dirk,
I don’t know if you mean in general or specifically a beta reader for House Andrews books, but I’ll address the specific: usually there is a call for Beta readers on the blog with self published books. For example, see here from 2019 https://ilona-andrews.com/2019/sweep-of-the-blade-beta-read/
There may be some expertise requirements, depending on the topic, but not necessarily. A note that beta readers are different from proofreaders, editors, experts, ARC readers etc. There are examples here that illustrate some of the differences https://ilona-andrews.com/2021/edits-and-more-edits/ and here for general requirements https://ilona-andrews.com/2021/questions-on-writing-part-1/
This type of call happens for traditional published books, too, but the process there is more out of the hands of the author and sometimes the beta readers are already lined up for them.
So keep an eye on the blog, in short ????.
Allison says
I have loved the Blog from the time I discovered it. You all (House Andrews, Moderator and kids) are awesome. I will still be eternally grateful for a weekly, semi-weekly or bi-weekly post of your wonderful posts.
Happy Holidays to all of you.
Graziella says
As with other comments – grateful for all your postings & if it needs to be less frequent, so be it. Look forward to the Christmas gift of free fiction (you spoil us, not that im refusing…!).
If we don’t hear from you before Christmas, wish you & your family a very good Christmas & rest as you need.
Moderator R says
Hey Graziella,
There will definitely posts before Christmas, it’s just a slower pace of a couple of times a week, not a hiatus! 🙂
Sharon says
Thank you for all the pandemic blogging. It has been wonderful.
Have fun in the writing cave and I look forward to RF when it comes out and whatever free fiction you manage amongst the stuff that puts food on the table.
Compliments of the Festive Season to Gordon, Ilona, Mod R and K1 and K2.
Regards, Sharon

I can’t not read “It’s time” without reading it as Rafiki. I don’t know why my brain is like this.

This window into your world is amazing, as are all of you! Thank you so much for being so accessable and dedicated to your fans!!! I can’t wait to see what comes next, but take care of yourselves first! Happy Holidays!!!

Your writing is always happily read, whether it shows up via the blog, short stories, books, etc. (and no matter how often it appears!) Some may grumble at the prospect of fewer blog entries, but ignore those people…and know how much the rest of us love and appreciate you! Thank you, thank you, thank you! ????
Susi says
Thank you for being a cheerful spot! All the best with the edits, secret project and freeeee fiction – yay!
Kelly says
My phone died just as I entered a comment so please forgive if it’s a duplicate.
Wonderful news that free fiction is coming and the blog entries are a gift and very much appreciated!!
As to RF soon needing volunteer beta readers- my hand is up and waving madly???? I will keep a look out for when you send the request
Kimmelane says
Thank you for carrying on as long as you did! The blog is always a bright spot in my day, but honestly, having to wait a few days just ratchets up the anticipation, and the delight when a new post comes through. I worry about you working too hard (yes, I know it’s ridiculous and you have your lives well in hand. I worry a little anyway) and knowing that you are stepping back from the blog makes me feel better.
jeanne says
absolutely always enjoy all you post. really have enjoyed every book you have written. ThankYou!

Since you are changing the rhythm of life, it’s a good moment to say ‘Thank you for all the effort you made during the pandemic’. It was a bright place in a dim world.

Thank you! For all the blogging that you have been doing. My husband had to actually go to the office for work yesterday and as I was walking him out I mentioned how it felt like old times. Good luck with the upcoming obligations.
Annie says
I wondered how you kept up with daily blogging with your schedule. I’ll take whatever you offer and be very happy with it. I do have a question…received notice that Ruby Fever is available pre-order on Kindle. Will all your future books only be on Kindle? I’m sure you’ve discussed this but I honestly can’t remember…sorry. Being a Nook owner, I’m used to all my books being in one library and am having trouble remembering I need to go to 2 libraries now. Thank you!
Moderator R says
Hi Annie,
Ruby Fever will be available at all the usual retailers, not just Amazon. We’re aware that Nook preorder doesn’t show up yet and we are working to solve it.
Thank you for your patience ????
Patricia Schlorke says
Thank you for the update for the Nook pre-order. 🙂
Karen M says
Thank you so much for all your blogging over the last two years! Glad that you are stepping back. And thanks, Mod R, for your cheery presence!
Nina says
“This doesn’t mean we are divorcing or quitting writing.”
So sad that you had to clarify that. Must be some unpleasant experience with panicked fans behind that.
On another note, isn’t that just the Catch-22 of fans? If you don’t have them, your work is a bit pointless; if you do, you start feeling obligated to keep delivering. Either way, self-care is most important. Blog as much or little as you want, we are not your bosses!
FBR says
Thank you for being a bright spot for all of us.
Katie says
I am looking forward to all the upcoming stuff and things. Thank you for being a bright spot during this pandemic and holding space for us. I usually check in a couple of times a week, so am good to go! Yall have a great holiday season!

I love IA fiction, be it free or paid 😉
Speaking about Free Fiction, I stumbled upon a dead link to the beginning of Hugh 2 on the book order page. Weak Sauce.
This link is also mentioned in the blog post of Aug 13,2021.
That link is dead as well.
Has Weak Sauce been pulled or has it simply been moved to another location and I just haven’t been able to find it?
TIA
Ilona says
It’s been pulled because we locked all snippet posts.
Jessica says
I’m really looking forward to seeing the webcomic version of Innkeeper.
Jackie Bowser says
Thanks so much for all your blogging. Totally understandable you are stepping back to a sustainable frequency that give you the time to work on all your awesome projects. Love you both! And Mod R.
Gabrielle Roberts says
I honestly and sincerely check the blog to stay up to date on book releases and to make sure that your family unit is still hanging in there. Through the blog I’ve become invested in the health and success of house Andrews.
Thank you for sharing part of your lives and creative process with your fans.
Please know I see your post as a bonus, and not as an entitlement ❤
Jen says
There were many wonders hidden in this horrible pandemic, and the joys of joining the BDH was one of them! Thank you for creating a safe and warm on line community and a place to go that always cheered me up. I am now ready for the world again in for whatever House Andrews would like to propose!
