Look what just came in the mail.




It is a full color advance reader copy. It is beautiful. This is not the final manuscript – there are still a few typos, but it is very close to done.
We are going to be giving away 2 copies to US readers only. The cost of shipping internationally is prohibitive right now and we’ve had packages that were lost.

Reading a book I am engrossed then looking up out over my yard, which is a green space with trees and bushes and plants where I don’t see any other houses. This set of actions is a never ending joy for me.

Ever since my knee injury and subsequent surgery, with weeks of no-weight-bearing, I’ve been enjoying reading. Reading a good book is pure joy.

Sunday was a free day – I didn’t have to go anywhere or do laundry or run the dishwasher, I could just relax in the easy chair and read or play games on my phone. That doesn’t happen often, and I thoroughly enjoy it when it does.

Hummingbirds. They just left this week to fly their tiny selves from Maine to the gulf coast and then all the way across the gulf to Mexico.
My large bathtub makes me happy I think I was a mermaid in a past life😂

Generally speaking, I’m not a huge fan of cooking. However, I definitely get all kinds of joy and satisfaction when I can cook a meal for my grown children (their SOs & my young grandson) that they then scarf down. Makes the work and hassle worth it!
Getting a new book from a favorite author, touching the cover, then sitting in my most comfy lounging chair and starting on page 1.
Video chats with my nephew- instant mood boost 🙂
Watching the sun fill the sky with warmth and color over the trees fills my soul with hope.

A soft blanket
When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is make my way to the bathroom. Lately, my cat has decided to run there from wherever he sleeps for a morning snuggle before I’m allowed to shower.
Watching my dogs run around and play with each other makes me happy

Enjoying the beginning of fall.
The little noises my cat makes. And sometimes the big ones too – even when he’s yelling when I try to talk on a Zoom call I can laugh about it later.

Spending time with family and friends that are like family!
There are so many little things make me happy: a Painted Desert tea latte, snuggling between my two cats, reading a book, spiced pear jam, my flowers blooming, casting on or chaining the correct number of stitches to start a project, baking a loaf of bread.
Rain makes me happy. Drippy, sappy, spitty rain makes me smile. Pounding, driving, deluge rain makes me giggle. And flashy, boomy, sky-splitting thunderstorms make me jump up and down in delight!
Some of my best memories include watching a storm arrive with my family. Love the rain.

I took the day off for my birthday and just laid around and relaxed. it was so great!
Finding interesting shells on the beach make me so happy!
I am in my happy place when curled up on my couch with my two dogs, cat, watching my hummingbirds out the window and no plans but to read a book. My therapeutic place is in my garden, weeding and teaching my kids about different plants.
My four month old daughter is learning how to laugh, and her smiles, giggles, and pterodactyl noises make me laugh and smile and be filled with so much joy. <3
