I would love some more webcomic recommendations. I went through a lot of them after Innkeeper was published on Tapas, and wonder if there are any new ones you enjoyed. My latest favorites are Baroness Goes On Strike, and Little Rabbit and the Big Bad Leopard.
We always do Tapas, so today let’s do some Webtoons.
I’m the Queen in This Life
Yep, it’s as messed up and dark as it looks, and it’s my catnip. New issues are posted on Sunday and I am there. Unfortunately for the golden boy over there, his half-brother and villain is much more interesting.
It’s the same problem that I have with Lost Track of Time, a Chinese drama on Viki. The villain is spectacular and the hero is so boring, oh dear God. I fast forward all the romance scenes with the hero. No regrets.
The Greatest Estate Developer
So funny. This poor guy just wants to get enough money to live the lazy life. Instead he ends up embarking on these major projects like building modern sewers and houses with radiant heat. The faces Lloyd makes, hehehe.
This is a comedy with absurd elements. For example, there is a tribe of orcs. They are bodybuilders. They pose. A lot.
Trapped
He is not wrong. Not spoiling anything, but this is a supernatural thriller. It’s dark, it’s cracktacular, there are a butt ton of episodes available, don’t start late at night if you have to go to work the next day.
So well done. Couldn’t stop reading it. Just when people say, “Oh, this genre is tapped out and I can’t see how anyone can do anything new with that,” something like this comes along, and you’re like, “Sure, I’ll bite.”
The Remarried Empress
The trailer portrays her as soft. She is not. She is calculating and once she decides on the course of action, she goes after it.
I quit this one because the constant mistress getting him to be mean to her dynamic irritated me so I read up to the point where our empress escapes and dropped it. Although, I do wonder if I should keep going as now it would be lovely to see her crush the Emperor through diplomacy.
Return of the Mad Demon
This is one of the rare, very rare, cases of a true chaotic neutral protagonist. You have no idea what the hell he is going to do next. No clue. This is another reincarnation story, except our protagonist was mad in the clinical sense when he died and he is not all together sane when he goes back in time to his body. He is facing a world of martial artists and all of them are bad.
It’s violent, the art is sick, and there are flashes of genuine hilarity among the carnage.
Happy reading!
Donna A says
I used to watch Heroes and loved Sylar most. Sometimes the bad guy is the best guy. Might have to try out I’m the Queen in This Life based on your recommendations.
Maya says
Be prepared to fight the urge to spend coins on I’m the Queen in This Life. It’s so good!
Lizzi says
I read to many to even count. I’m probably neck deep in like 60 of them over 4 or 5 platforms, and I blame you!!! lol 1 innocent sign up for Tapas for the innkeeper story and BOOM! Addicted! I mostly read BL (I like the ones with the broken ppls who find happiness in each other) or M/F with strong females leads.
Wey says
Have you read Be My Villain?
Jana says
On my Tapas list are: Frost flower knight, Lion Heart, Sigrid, My farm by the palace, avoiding the heavenly emperor, angel of villainess, and His Majesty’s Secret Heroine.
If I had to pick just two to recommend: His Majesty’s Secret Heroine and Avoiding the heavenly Emperor. Close third though would be My Farm by the Palace, for all the lovely food…
Just to answer everyone’s unspoken question, yes I am very poor from buying all the ink…
🙂
Moderator R says
My Farm by the Palace sounds awesome!
Elenariel says
Mod R, my farm by the palace is the cutest!
A fluffy, funny comfort read with delicious food and hilarious characters!
jana says
Agreed. Here is the link:
https://tapas.io/series/my-farm-by-the-palace
so cute… with a little chick named Tiberius.
KC says
A Knight and Her Emperor – outcaste female noble forced to become soldier to survive, catches notice by enemy emperor, not because she’s beautiful but rather because of her character. I like it because it’s non typical. Ongoing.
A Princess’s Guide to Saving Dragons – stunning visuals, savvy female lead, cast of interesting characters, interesting world power politics and overall plot. Ongoing.
The Falcon Princess – slight cult fantasy film Ladyhawke vibes, but with some moments of great humor. Kingdom invaded, royal family dead or missing. The most expendable princess is somehow found as a bird, and she still manages to help the military fight. Ongoing.
A Business Proposal – adapted into live action Asian romcom drama on Netflix. Lady goes on blind date in place of friend. Only to discover it’s the owners son of her company. Hilarity and hijinks, and romance ensue. Complete.
Farm by the Palace – you end up with a girl with a proverbial green thumb who has only ever dreamed of a farm of her own. She gets land gifted to her by a relative, but it’s smack by the imperial Palace to the annoyance of the royal male lead. he sees it as like a spite house ruining his grand vision. Or suspects she has an ulterior motive. But she’s wholesome, considerate, hard working, generous and completely unpolitical. She wins over folks, even those skeptical of her motivations with her farm to table cooking. Ongoing.
Zephyr says
I checked out My Farm by the Palace and it was just what I needed! A hilarious comfort read after a very intense and difficult week. Thank you so much for the recommendation Jana!
Lisa says
Didn’t realize how badly I needed this list. Thanks much!
Sam says
Gunnerkrigg Court is an old favorite.
Eva R says
Same here! I’ve also been reading Girl Genius for just about as long, if you haven’t read it yet and would enjoy an adventure in a steampunk Europa torn apart by mad scientists.
Wey says
That reminds me I’m a couple months behind…
Teresa says
From a knight to a lady:
Very intense since the protagonist was betrayed by her closest friend (he even beheads her to show proof to the king …) and she had to adjust in her new life where she’s living as a noble in the enemy kingdom.
Taming the Marquess:
The protagonist is a part of blacksmith noble family which is the unique part of the story. It’s a good romance if you like the slow burn.
Lady and the Beast (tapas):
This one is just hilarious but also it’s got a good story so far. Have not much to say except it’s a man under a curse and a woman who was reborn with the same knowledge as her previous life.
Sonette says
I have a whole list, but they are all wonderful!
Midnight Poppy Land, When Jasy Whistles, Teenage Mercenary, Doom Breaker, Made of Stardust (Art is insanely beautifully done), SubZero, The Guild Codex, The Lone Necromancer and Lore Olympus.
I have more, but those are my top bunch 🙂
Wey says
I love Midnight Poppy Land and Lore Olympus!
Julia says
Seconding Guild Codex!!
Colleen Whitley says
the Mystic Musketeer is a recommendation. I also like Little Rabbit and the Big Bad Leopard. For Better or For Worse is in comic or novel form and is a romance with some comedy and witty repartee. The Swordmaster’s Son for fantasy and sword fighting.
Dana says
Mod R, help! I just signed up to Tapas and remembered there was a recommendation post, but can’t find it… Can you come to the rescue?
Moderator R says
If you’ve just now signed up, you should definitely check out the Tapas Innkeeper adaptation! https://tapas.io/series/the-innkeeper-chronicles
The Tapas recommendations post is very old and has been archived, I’m afraid. I can tell you that Ilona’s recommendations from it were: Solo Leveling, Level up with the Gods, My Master is a Backseat Gamer, I shall Master this Family, I’m the Tyrant’s Secretary, Secret Lady, I Wasn’t the Cinderella, 50 tea recipes from the Duchess, The Millionaire Divorcee, Not Sew Wicked Stepmom.
I would also keep an eye out on the comment section today, Tapas recs are bound to come up! 🙂
Dana says
Thanks, mod r, you are a life saver! That was exactly what I was looking for!
KC says
Use code WYRD873X at Tapas, you get free ink to read comics with and so do I. 🙂
Arjan says
Order of the Stick. It is currently the only webcomic I am following. Especially nice if you played Dungeons and Dragons in your youth.
Tricia says
I love Order of the Stick!
Manda says
If you haven’t tried Blood Reverie yet please do it is amazing!!! I also love Midnight PoppyLand, Suitor Armor, Eaternal Nocturnal, Subzero, & In the bleak Midwinter to name a few.
AshleyJ says
Hand Jumper
Weak Hero
The Breaker (all 3 seasons but Eternal Force is the only one on Webtoon)
Eleceed
Omniscient Reader
Viral Hit
Guild Codex
Sixth Sense Kiss
Kim K says
Omniscient Reader is great!
Eva R says
I love Eleceed. It’s a ton of fun, and absolutely hilarious. And it has lots of cats!
Omniscient Reader is great, too.
Teresa says
Two of my all-time favourites: The Fantasie of a Stepmother and Secret Lady are amazing, story and art-wise!
Elenariel says
Love Navier and Heinrey dynamics, and how they leave Sovieshu in the dust! Rashta is her usual trashy self, and we didn’t need Krista to join the baddies party, but I would say pick it up again!
And you’re right: Cesare in his current incarnation looks way better than Alfonso.
New/recent in the original section of Webtoon I’m also really enjoying:
~ Go away Romeo (yes, he’s returned from the dead, and we readers all want for him to go back under!)
~Lady Liar (my love for maripaz started when Miss Abbott was still published on dA but she never disappoints!)
~ Serena: the author’s other work on Tapas , The Portrait, is a masterpiece (!) so I have high hopes for this one.
~ Made of Stardust: gorgeous art by an artist I follow on Ig, still doubtful on the plot but it’s just started. And there are dragons!!
~Living with magicians: nice slice of life with a bit of magic!
~I abdicate my title as Empress: somewhat similar dynamics with the Remarried empress but there’s magic and monsters coming out of towers in this world! Luckily, I started it before arrived on Webtoon because I hate the daily pass formula since there’s the risk the last episodes won’t be free to read…
Kim K says
I put these on the FB page as well:
The Greatest Real Estate Developer. Omg the faces are amazing and the humor is off the charts.
Leveling Up My Husband isn’t funny, but it’s a solid storyline.
Daytime Star is completed and an adorable story with modern day theming.
For My Derelict Favorite is a solid OI, and makes fun of its tropes.
My In-Laws Are Obsessed With Me. It’s in hiatus after season one, but the light novel was amazing, the art is beyond gorgeous and I’m totally invested.
My Dear, Cold Blooded King. It’s complete, a solid classic and no lag across its three or so seasons.
Return of the Blossoming Blade. Murim style, beautifully done and tons of dry (veryyyyy dry) humor. It’s on season two.
Elenariel says
Other lovely not so new and canvas Webtoons:
Morgana&Oz, the Second Lead Syndrome, Maybe meant to be, I thought my time was up, the Blind Prince.
Honbarian (one of my all time favs), All the Colors of Snow (if you read it on Tapas, the author gets paid even if it’s free for readers), Questless, The Secrets of Soulford,Beneath the camphor tree, Humor me, Villainess for Hire, Rain Girl (really great historical supernatural mistery romance)…
Rachel says
Greatest Estate Developer is super good, and you should DEFINATELY continue wathing The Remarried Empress; it gets so much better once she escapes! Death: Rescheduled is reaaaaally good, too. The art is amazing and it’s basically a re-imagining of Nightmare Factory, which the aurthor made years ago and scrapped. it’s not really a “happy” comic, but it’s not an “All of the awesome people die” comic, either. and the characters are super fun.
Arianna says
I love The remarried empress, she is a true role model! I read very very fast the panels where Trashta appears, she is truly unbearable.
I also love Like wind on a dry branch, very slow burn, and Purple Hyacinth, fantastic art, although the latter is on hiatus at the moment, since the artist is dealing with health issues!
GG says
Seconding Like Wind on a Dry Branch ❤️ Didn’t expect to love it but the art and writing is beautiful and it’s a sweeter story than I thought
jana says
+1 I wait until an arc is completed before binging them all. 🙂
Robyn says
Remarried Empress is worth it for the comments and the coining of the name “Trashta” for the villainess. However, I too lost interest. I may go back. I love the Rabbit and Leopard too. Currently loving “I’m Divorcing My Tyrant Husband” because the heroine (villain!) is excellent and hilarious!
Nilk says
I was reading Remarried Empress when the original webnovel was first being translated by fans. The comments were as addictive as the storyline. It’s the best story.
I’m currently reading I Abdicate My Role As The Empress with Trashta 2.0 and an emperor who gives Soviesh.t a run for his money.
Solo Leveling is my crack, though. Sung Jinwoo and Igrit are my wallpaper and lockscreen pics, I have SJW and his merry band of shadow warriors on a sun visor for my car and I’m working on buying dead tree volumes of the webtoon. Such a great story.
I understand the criticisms but I just don’t care. It’s a fave of mine (webnovel and webtoon).
jewelwing says
I may have to check some of these out this winter. They look supercool.
Emily says
Thank you for the recommendations! I hope to see more of innkeeper someday.
My favorite webtoon is The Guild Codex
https://m.webtoons.com/en/canvas/the-guild-codex/list?title_no=736865
Smmoe1997 says
I rarely read comics/graphic novels/webtoons, but I love the Guild Codex series, both the books and the webtoon versions!
Eva R says
Tower of God (on Webtoon) is really good, though the art starts mediocre and does not reach top tier until partway through season 2. Be sure to search the exact title-it is popular enough to have spawned a lot of imitators with similar titles and concepts.
PaEla says
started with INNKEEPER
now I am addicted 🤣
my current favorits:
sidecharacters deserve love too
RF
funny and a very obsessed and bloodthirsty heroine
the beginning after the end
AF
epic, lord of the rings meets harrypotter, the last airbender, tributes of panem and final fantasy and thor
tale of the floating sages
action, funny
a cute Tiger demon and his many female fans, quests, magic and a lot of fighting
daughter of a thousand faces
fantasy+action
a mighty demon teaches a girl how to fight and use the “faces” of the opponents she defeated
and many more…..😊🤭
Katy says
Webtoon – the tyrant wants to be good
Tapas – Villainess in Love, beware of the villainess, villains are destined to die, perks of being a villainess.
Right now I am so happy tapas is doing a lovely job on the novels.
Elenariel says
Another one! Just read the update that Lady Knigh is coming back next week! it’s by Lion Illustration on Webtoon.
Other goodies from Tapas
The Duchess’ secret writing life: she writes RF, he is her biggest fan. They don’t know each other but end up in an arranged marriage…
Fantasie of a Stepmother: dark at times, bur the art is soooo delicious (Norra, oh my!)
Brother knows best: my favorite loonies!! Worried about all the late ominous foreshadowing…
The Duke bored daughter’s my master 💙
Mother contract marriage (in season hiatus but the sweetest little main character)
Wall of Glass
Glen Hollow
I don’t trust my twin
When the Black moon rises (veeeery eagerly waiting for new season)
Enjoy the show
The Portrait and Navillera like a butterfly (both completed)
Not on Tapas or Webtoon, and it’s old, but I just finished this today and it was sooo good: Her (tale of) Shim-Cheong.
It’s a GL version of a traditional tale, showing how poorly women were considered and treated but eventually learn to support each other. It’s really well written. You’ll end up angry and crying a lot. Beautiful art.
Cindy Liu says
Eleceed!!!! You definitely should read this one if you haven’t yet!
GG says
Some of my absolute favs:
Manga:
* Fiancé’s Observation Log of the Self-proclaimed Villainess: This is still among my top favourites in this list 🙂 FMC reincarnation from MMC POV and it’s hilarious
* Shorter one: This Time I Will Definitely Be Happy
Manhwa:
* Villainess Lives Again: probably a bit darker than the rest of this list but I love a good revenge plot
* I’ll Save this Damned Family: Adore this series. I wasn’t drawn to the art style at first but the characters and the slow-burn is so worth it. One of my favs.
* Is it Fortune or Is it Woe: More romance but overall lighthearted and sweet. Completed.
* Obligatory How Raeliana ended up at the Duke’s mansion. Also completed.
* Death is the Only Ending for the Villainess: Love the MMC and romance in this. He is kinda unhinged in the best way hehe
* Secret Lady: Gorgeous art and great MC. Throw in some forbidden love
* Like Wind on a Dry Branch: also love the MCs in this. Art and writing is amazing
* Perks of Being A villainess: Super fun! Mc doesn’t care about plot and does her own thing. Romance is also pretty funny because MMC is pretending to be somebody else
* Perks of an S Class Heroine: also a fun one, gamers can appreciate 🙂
* Saving my Sweetheart
Not Romance:
* Omniscient Reader
Kathy says
I LOVE The Remarried Empress! I highly recommend reading on, it is so good.
Vicki says
I adore the Greatest Estate Developer. It is one of my favourite webtoons. By the way, if you are interested in reading ahead, the novel version is currently being translated in the Yonder app. It has so many gags that didn’t make it into the webtoon.
Zaz says
Boy I would love to give a Tapas subscription and ink to a friend. Anyone know if there is a way to gift one
Gail says
Short but delightful Fangs by Sarah Andersen is on Tapas (there are a few extra panels she released with the book, but nothing that changes the character arcs)
analee says
Omg I looooved Remarried Empress, but I stopped after she remarried too. I couldn’t get into the new arc, but I might pick it back up, the art is beautiful
Lara says
Here is my whittled-down list of Webtoon favs:
Infinity – a high school fencing comic, great characters, very realistic fencing (they have a Korean Olympian as a consultant) but they explain things well so a non-fencer can get it too, makes good use of the comic format, just love this (I am biased as an epee fencer, will admit)
Batman: Wayne Family Adventures – slice of life in Gotham, wholesome and sweet, Bat-dad Bruce Wayne and the rest of the bat family have shenanigans in bite-sized bits
+1 to Suitor Armor – fantasy romance with some dark themes but compelling plot and beautiful heartrending moments
+1 to Purple Hyacinth – gaslamp, hero and anti-hero team-up, romance with my favorite cast of supporting characters, peril and mystery and angst and comradery!
+1s to Omniscient Reader, Teenage Mercenary, My Dear Cold Blooded King, Like Wind on a Dry Branch, and In The Bleak Midwinter
Tricia says
On Webtoons I read Punderworld- starting back up soon- and Wayne Family Adventures which is a great Batman comic- character development and family fun. I also read the Remarried Empress!
Off of Webtoons I read How to Be a Werewolf which I also really enjoy.
Chamonix says
Can recommend Punderworld and the artist has another comic called Blood Stain which is a neat slice of life comic.
kaz says
+1 to both of those, they are very good!
Ann says
I’m going to try Return of the Mad Demon 😁. Thanks for the recos!
Molly says
Ohhh! I’ve been on a binge too!
I recommend:
1. Charlotte and her 5 disciples
2. Fantasie of a Stepmother
3. Sigrid
4. Secret Lady
5. I failed to Oust the Villain
6. Father, I don’t want this marriage
7. Queen Cecia’s shorts
Totally awesome.
Katrina says
LOL Innkeeper on Tapas started me down a deep path of reading these and now I’ve got a lonnnnng running list that I read regularly. I think I’m up to date on 200+ comics >_>
Random other one that really cracked me up, Side Characters Deserve Love Too. And the art in Mother’s Contract Marriage makes me want a hard copy version of it. It’s so beautiful.
Eva says
Ooooh, thank you for these additional recommendations! And all the ones in the comments! So many I wans to check out and start reading right away.
I also really loved Author of My Own Destiny on Tapas – the female lead is really strong, kick-ass, and smart, and she has an adorable father-daughter dynamic with her adopted father.
Also The Villainess is Retiring on Tapas – so cute and fun. She summons a demon who is incredibly handsome but also – bonus – turns into an adorable floofy white dog…
Sleepy says
—Return of the Blossoming Blade (historical/martial arts)
Absolutely love this one. MC + martial arts sect fights big bad, everyone dies. 100 years later MC wakes up to a world where his sect is in shambles because all of the older members died, and the world is prospering off the fact of his sect’s sacrifice. Its all about him going back, rebuilding his sect. Strong themes of found family, war, sacrifice and also… comedy lol.
—Kubera (fantasy, slightly sci-fi)
Absolutely amazing, hands down. Starts off as the story of a girl who’s village dies and gets saved by a magician. And off she goes off on her journey… but it’s so much more than that. Strong themes of philosophy, morality, self-sacrifice, tragedy, romance… but also comedy haha.
It’s a story based off of the idea: “no one is a villain, only victims”. No single character is 2D, (more like 4D lmao), and your favorites may change to be the main villains from season 1 and vice versa. Finally, the author is a SERIOUS planner. Multiple times she’s dropped hints 5 years in advance and all of a sudden– it makes sense. Its probably the best piece of literature I’ve actually read. Multiple times it’s made me think of the meaning of what it really means to be… “human”.
Just be prepared to expect the store to change dramatically between seasons, and not everything that you see on the page is all that is happening.
and i’ll stop now i could wax on about Kubera forever 😛
Sofietsa says
The Remarried Empress is my favourite and I have found the I Abdicate My Title of Empress to be similarly intriguing. Not that many chapters yet, so I’m waiting to see how it will turn out. The Emperor is an idiot and kinda useless, I’m interested to see when he will wake up; he’s not lead material nor a possible love interest, will be fun to watch him fall.
Have also been reading I Thought It Was a Common Isekai Story.
Geen says
A couple of contemporary and non romance recommendations would be Rookie Talent Agent Knows it All and To Be an Actor, both on Tapas
Sebs says
A Not so Fairy Tale – gorgeous art.
Life of a quack healer – interesting premise + cocky MC
The Strongest Florist – like Greatest Real Estate but also not haha
World’s Strongest Troll – chaos! player helps slime vs player!
Chamonix says
Ahem. Finally something I have extensive knowledge on. Pay attention and keep notes. I am very picky and stingy with recommendations so I promise these are GOOD *taps notebook*
In the Bleak Midwinter: AMAZING story. This is one of my top favourites because it is SO intriguing. Little romance but lots of hints and a sort of “soulmate/truelove” scenario but mostly awesome cyberpunkish, post-apocalyptic world.
Under the Aegis: adorable little comic is a COMPLETE story, for when you’re sick of unfinishing comics and need a conclusive happy ending.
Blood Stain: Gorgeous art and super duper talented comic artist. Slice of life style / frenemies? Really fun cathartic take and some subtle ADHD/anxiety and autism themes. Same artist has a fresh hades/persephone story too.
Death Becomes You: Super steamy fantasy romance comic with some top tier humour and artwork. When this one updates I am THERE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Sassy bossgirl and boneheaded undead shifer boi. This one makes my toes curl.
Hooves of Death: Think post-apocalyptic my little pony: friendship is magic with zombies. Complete story. Fun fantasy themes.
For fans of Remarried Empress (i.e all of you it seems):
Perfect Marriage Revenge
Marry My Husband
Both are korean type manwha comics. Set in modern times but you get the same feel good revenge as remarried empress, with adorable romance thrown in.
LauraKC says
I am surprised at how addicting Tapas really is – my username is LKC of the BDH in honour of this group. My family thinks I’m bonkers for the times they’ve caught me unlocking episodes wherever we are! I find myself on their events page all the time, trying new series (and it keeps me in ink to buy episodes!).
Xellos says
I strongly recomend “Eleceed Manga”, specialy for smug chonk cat fans, while we wait for the Solo Leveling anime. <3 Kayden!
On webtoons is 30+ chapters behind fansub sites, but enough to binge read.

Keep reading the remarried empress! Now that our empress can’t be hurt by the mistress and she’s in a loving relationship it’s awesome!

Tapas:
Lout of the Count’s family (action): Obsessed with this one, mainly because I have been reading the web novel (Trash of the Count’s Family – which I will throw buckets of money at as soon as it is released in the US). Seriously – at least start the web novel (Its over 900 chapters and still going) and then read the webtoon. It is an excellent adaption.
The Baengri Clans Unwanted Granddaughter (childcare/romance?): The webtoon is great, but the web novel (also on Tapas) is equally addictive.
Philomel the fake (childcare/romance?): I like this one because the heroine has a different personality than most webtoon heroines. She’s almost gloomy lol.
Aria of the withered branch (action/romance?): Another introverted hero/heroine. This is making me realize I have a type, haha!
Villainess are destined to die (romance): And another introverted heroine. Crazy for the art here. Reincarnated into an otome game theme.
The perks of being a villainess (romance): Yet another introvert. And good at math. This one has more comedy than the previous three. And a mountain lion named Cookie. <3
Mother's contract marriage (childcare/romance?): You will either love or hate the art. It is a little like a beautiful fever dream.
Becoming the dark hero's daughter (childcare/mystery): A little warning, the author or artist has cancer, so there may never be a season 2. :'(
The male lead's little lion daughter (childcare): Very fierce little chaos-inducing lead.
I shall master this family (childcare/romance): Strong lead, italian-nobility-style setting.
I woke up as the villain (action): The usual OP hero theme, but the lead is actually nice and a somewhat cheerful extrovert.
SSS-Class revival hunter (action): Also an OP hero, but different from the usual brooding type. Reminds me of Dr Who a bit, in that he is willing to regenerate a thousand times to save the world… and get some fame and attention as a bonus. 😀
Not on Tapas, but deserves a mention:
My S-Class Hunters (action). Also has an amazing web novel, still ongoing. Can find it on Webtoon or Tappytoon.
Hanna says
Also, some people have already mentioned it, but Solo-leveling should really be top of the list.
Arise.

I follow only two webcomics, and recommend them both.
1. The Last Human (In a Crowded Galaxy)
https://www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/the-last-human-in-a-crowded-galaxy/mother-knows-best/viewer?title_no=403136&episode_no=1
“She’s the galaxy’s worst nightmare: a Human. Fortunately, she’s the last one. Now her adoptive (alien) mother is realizing that raising a young Human is no easy task.” At turns hilarious, sweet, heartwarming, and heart-wrenching. Incomplete, still being updated (but never as fast as I want)
2. Wilde Life
https://www.wildelifecomic.com/comic/1
“Oscar rented an old house off craigslist, then things got weird…
First it was meeting the ghost of a 1940s mathematician in the upstairs hallway, then it was finding a teenage werewolf in the bathtub. Now Oscar doesn’t know what will show up next. Maybe that’s okay, as long as nothing eats him.”
VERY slow burn, and honestly that’s part of the charm. Updates very regularly (like clockwork) and is just … sweet and nice and sometimes a little harrowing. The comment section and alt text on the comics are always worth checking out.

Lady Liar by Maripaz Villar is currently my favorite on Webtoon. It puts a silly smile on my face, it’s ridiculously good. It’s romance, it’s flirting, it’s a female heroine who keeps forgetting she is supposed to be a proper lady in the presence of a hero. I love them so much.
Lady Knight by Lion Illustration has a wonderful heroine, a ragtag group of misfits, magic academy, magic contest and amazing art. First season is completed and I can’t wait for second one.
Suitor Armor by Purpah – Deceptively lighthearted at the beginning, it grew into something else. The character development and themes addressed evoked such a strong emotional response in me and it’s what smade it into one of the best fantasy comics on webcomics for me.
As for adaptions:
My In-Laws are Obsessed With Me is fantastic. The relationship between leads is done so well, incredibly subtle and complex.
Like a Wind on a Dry Branch: I am obsessed with this one. UST is delicious, dialogue is smart and art is amazing.
Amanda says
Suitor Armor is so crushing and also kind, I love it.
Kyia says
I love The Perks of Being A Villainess! It’s one of my all time favorites on Tapas, but of course it’s on Hiatus. 😭 The Viridescent Tiara is also really good. Behind His Kind Mask is hilarious. Just… food for thought.

Stagtown by Punko – oh oh this one’s so good SO GOOD please read this someone anyone!
Karalee says
You missed the best one on Webtoons:
Lore Olympus
https://www.webtoons.com/en/romance/lore-olympus/list?title_no=1320
This is an amazing take on putting the stories of Olympus in a contemporary setting. It centers on the romance between Hades and Persephone. It is being printed as books now, but I prefer to read the original Webtoon (some emotional scenes have background music!)
My latest favorite new Webtoon is:
Reporting for Duty, Duchess
https://www.webtoons.com/en/romance/reporting-for-duty-duchess/list?title_no=5384
This is the story of a female military officer who gets pulled into a novel. It is still a bit young so I don’t know if it will stay good, but I love that she has the confidence to be a honey badger. She doesn’t take shit from anyone.
Hope you all enjoy these too.

I read a million of these and have so many recs.
Some of my current faves-
Crown Princess Scandal – WEBTOON – Slapstick romance comedy in an East Asian fantasy setting with a fun enemies to lovers romance
Sigrid – Tapas – Knight gets to restart 5 years in the past after being betrayed by her king, and learns to make meaningful relationships
Secret Lady – Tapas – A FMC who can see ghosts, mystery, drama and an ominous curse
From BFF to Obsessive Hubby – Tapas – Childhood friends to lovers romance, funny and lighthearted
The Spark in Your Eyes – Tappytoon/WEBTOON – Dark medieval fantasy about a knight with the powers of the sun goddess after winning a war and her growing bond with a pharmacist who was a victim of the war. Sad, heartfelt and impactful.

I can’t recommend Like Wind on a Dry Branch enough!
It’s fantasy world with demons and fantastical creatures, a mysterious young widow who is about to be buried alive and who is saved by the outcast prince to join his harem of women. All with a sweet sweet slowburn with the greenest of flags that makes everything worth it! Currently ongoing, but it’s just startes its last stretch plot wise I think.
Amanda says
So glad to see someone else loving this one!
Marsha says
Oh Yes!
Like Wind on a Dry Branch is truly amazing.
I have recently read an incredible Manga/Manwha with a ludicrous title: Concubine Walkthrough.
Someone gets transported into a video game set in ancient China via a form of virtual reality. Their body is in a lab, their consciousness in the game. They have to successfully complete the story… in which they are the villainess. Political intrigue, twists and turns in the plot, assassinations, warriors, doomed romances. Its brilliant.

I love the Lone Necromancer and I Was the Final Boss. Lone Nec is just nerdy and ridiculous since he is so op, but the mc is clever so I’m good with it. I was the final boss is super funny because he’s a demon who becomes human. Somehow no one realizes what he is despite not hiding it at all.
On hiatus, but When Jasey Whistles is so, so good. It’s based off of Indonesian folk tales I think, and it is really interesting, pretty, sweet, and sad.
Gabby says
I’m really loving Daughter of a Thousand Faces, The Siren, and Lout of Count’s Family on Tapas.
Gabby says
My all time favorite is The Secrets of Soulford, which is not a paid comic but is uploaded in the canvas section on Webtoons. It’s a fantasy series that takes place in a medieval town that is rife with secrets, danger, magic, and amazing relationships. Quincil(the artist) draws the BEST facial expressions. I don’t think I could recommend it enough.

The Cursed Princess Club!!! Fantastic story that is just as funny as it is sweet. Hands down my favorite on WEBTOON.
I just read The Greatest Estate Developer last week and I really enjoyed it.

Yes this is great! Quite dark and with some really unexpected twists – and the art is really beautiful

As a chronic WebTooner and Tapas reader who loves Baroness and the Little Rabbit AND The Remarried Empress, consider:
(from Tapas)
The Siren: Becoming the Villain’s Family (I love anything about sirens, so I’m perhaps a little biased)
Kill the Villainess (Twisty dark romance which definitely raises some moral questions, isekai)
Mother’s Contract Marriage (told from the perspective of the daughter, who is an absolute adorable best girl who must be protected at all costs)
The Lady and the Lion (friends to enemies to lovers)
A Wicked Tale of Cinderalla’s Stepmom (I love that she is a mom finding new romance; isekai)
(from Webtoon)
YOUR THRONE (if you love politics and twisty storylines, read this one)
Long After the Ending (sweet romance that made me laugh a lot, secondary world)
A Good Day to Be a Dog (contemporary girl cursed to become a dog when she kisses someone and her soulmate who hates dogs. Hijinks ensue)
Lore Olympus (Persephone and Hades retelling a la Gossip Girl)
See You in my 19th Life (MC is reincarnated after dying saving a boy in her 18th life, finds him because she still loves him and wants to be with him, drama ensues, it’s so good)
Gabby says
See you in my 19th life was so good! I’m sad it ended.

If you haven’t tried Villain with a Crush, be prepared for a story that is quirky, laugh out loud, and totally soul crushing awkward for the main characters. Ah, love and romance gone off the tracks…who’s really the hero?
Noybswx says
rosa is just so freaking awkward it’s hilarious

I haven’t read the WEBTOON version but “Moving” drama adaption came out recently with a stacked A list cast and some people are saying it’s the kdrama of the year thus far. The original author wrote the screenplay as well and the acting and plot was 👌🏼 there’s also sequels and spin-off webtoons in this world

More WEBTOONs recommendations:
-Mystic Prince: Beautiful art, interesting characters and world. I would classify this as a drama with a romantic twist
– Villain to Kill: a hero is murdered and reincarnated as a villain and tried to stay true to his hero morals with an end goal of revenge for his death
+1 Great Estate Developer
+1 I Was the Final Boss

I’m alittle late but a new favorite of mine on webtoon is
“I thought my time was up!” It’s from the romance fantasy genre.
The MC is abssolutely hilarious and the ML is a very cute, though a tad obsessive. I can’t recommend this one enough 🙂
“The Player that hides his past” is also a new webtoon. This one is action/comedy and so far it’s fun.
Minna says
I confess. Have not been reading webcomics before this.
Now you have me hooked. Hooked.
Thank you, love finding new ways to enjoy.

Count youself lucky you drop The Remarried Empress. It is very annoying. I read this only because I have already read so much of it.
Fantasie of a Stepmother
Secret Lady
Like Wind on a Dry Branch
This three is a must read. Serious story. Beautiful art. No stupid plot holes.
Villains Are Destined to Die
There is a reason the ML got voted up as the best ML in webtoon.
My In-Laws Are Obsessed With Me
I love this one. It’s more serious than what the name suggest.
Surviving As A Maid
Very serious. Very hard to pick a ship because you sorta want all the MLs to scram.
For the cute one
My farm by the palace
A Symbiotic Relationship Between A Rabbit And A Black Panther
Read the first three. I swear you wont regret.
