Today is the release of the Wilmington Years audio bundle, combining Magic Tides and Magic Claims and the new adventures of Kate, Curran and Conlan as they navigate a not-so-low-key-after-all Happy Ever After.

The bundle is distributed to 60 retailers in the US and internationally, so if you don’t see your favorite store linked below, please go to your retailer of choice and search for it. Chances are, it will pop up. It is also available to libraries.

  17. You know her best friend is going to visit at some point to see the new house. Andrea (with or without Raphael and Baby B – though some Baby B and Conlan interactions would probably be fun). Though always fun to see Luther and Roman as well, so would not be disappointed with them.

  18. Maxine – it would be interesting to see what’s happened to her, and she might be/have been transferred to the Wilmington Chapter quite naturally after all the changes – she certainly seemed to have a touch of displeasure from being witness to Ted’s last stand.

  26. I sometimes wonder if Naeemah ever crossed paths with Kate again. I loved how she managed to twist the instructions she was given so that she could stay true to her own code. I think she’s be a wonderful addition to the gang in Wilmington.

  32. It’s so hard to pick. My first thought was Luther, but I really like him as part of Bio Hazard. I like it when Kate gets cross-ways of another organization that is quite powerful and has broadly the same goals as her. But due to personality conflicts, things go off the rails.

  35. Got my copies from B&N this morning but I also got 2 audiobooks from my library as well. Since Ive read MT/MC twice already, I need to get the library books out of the way first, plus I onlybhave 21 days with both.

  42. Got Audible this morning at 3:06am EDT. They didn’t drop the book until after 3am. So annoying.

    Who would I like to see from Atlanta?

    mmm Luther is always a good choice. I could see him setting up a lab at Fort Wood.

    Roman is also a good choice. Who knows maybe there are evil things in the woods that Roman could love.

    • So many folks we can’t see in the near future as they cannot know what Kate and Curran are planning for their future and the Pack’s future. It limits the pool of people available from Atlanta. That and they are all gossips.

      • I could see Hugh and his family visiting, but it may be too soon for the former Preceptor of the Iron Dogs to do that. Some folks like the Order may think he is invading under the guise of visiting family. Because some people’s minds just work like that.

Also, I did pre-order the bundle, but could I give the code to a person I just got started on Kate Daniels? It would be a lovely gift and I don’t think it will take long for her to catch up, she went through Magic Bites in about a week. =)

  48. I would love to have Jim return, since it seems so much has changed with Kate and Curran’s friendship with Jim since then. It would be nice to see where things go from here.

    • I agree- I kind of can’t believe they wrote side stories for Jim and Dali and then the relationship has deteriorated so much. Would love to see the redemption of Jim and Ascanio.

  77. I love these books. The character I would love to see more of is Conlan. He seems to have a unique view of the world and it would be fun to see his reactions as a kid in a weird world.

    • I Totally agree, But I can’t imagine he would think anything is weird, especially after visiting often with his grandfather. But I would love to see him do a Pete Davidson”OK” after seeing the weirdest thing imaginable.

  85. I’d like to see Christopher and Barabas again and get their story on how they ended up with a daughter (Sophia introduced in Blood Heir).

  121. Roman needs to have his own story. He is an incredible background character who has enough development to peak reader interest while still leaving a good deal of room for new story lines. The Kate Daniels universe has so much potential for exploring new creatures and delving deeper into different types of religions and magic- why not open another door into that realm with a fan favorite?

    Will we see the Wilmington Crew (Clan/Pack/Horde?) show up on Graphic Audio?

    Ever since the Inn Keeper Chronicles transmogrified on Graphic Audio, all other audio book formats have ceased to exist for me… I really love the radio theater format with multiple voices of multiple characters.

      As the post above states, the prize isn’t coming through Audible, but audiobook.com 🙂
      Graphic Audio are focusing on the main Kate Daniels series at the moment, working hard on the recording for Magic Strikes. They have 7 more books in the series after that, so it’s a bit early to talk about Wilmington adaptations 🙂

  130. My vote would be to see Rowena visit the Fort and find out what happened to her after Kate’s rescue. I feel like she disappeared after that. Perhaps she could stop by on her way to the Farm on business? Thank you House Andrews for building such rich, full-bodied worlds that give us so many wonderful characters to choose from!

      I do love seeing more of Luther in Wilmington – so more of that please!

      But I would also enjoy seeing some Curran – Mahon interactions to see how that relationship has changed.

      Also, what happened to Maxine after she was pulled from the Atlanta chapter? Any chance she could make a visit to Wilmington?

  136. Just finished re-reading Magic Claims yesterday. I’m looking forward to the audio versions of both WYs books. I really enjoy Luther and would like to see more of him. However, if we are picking a new addition I think Christopher might have some interesting insights.

  139. I would most like to see some random Merc from the Guild out and about in Wilmington, running into someone that Kate helped. Like Juke. A secondary character that does not intimately know the Lennarts but is aware of their general perception. And the reaction that that Merc has when they accidentally hit upon the scale of things happenings. Or just looks up Kate to say hello, because they’re in town & need a partner for a case, only to find her set up in a castle on the cliffs & having a busy people-running-around atmosphere / being-a-one-person-guild.

    I like his prickly, frenemies relationship with Kate and I’d love to see a show-down between Ghastek and Barrett (as long as Ghastek came out on top, of course). (Also…did he and Rowena ever get together and have little redheaded necromancer babies??) And if there DID happen to be a show-down between Ghastek and Barrett, a guest appearance by Christopher Steed would be delightful. We all know he’s no longer able to pilot the dead, but….

  143. It’s bouda time. Andrea and Raphael wouldn’t have a traditional HEA either, and writing their dialogue would be loads of fun. Lots of arguing, followed by “How the HELL did Baby B get up there?!”

  149. Ascanio. The guy is a little shit, but he tries to do the right thing for his people. Most of the time. And he is also smart enough to know that he doesn’t have the resources or reputation to take over the Pack on his own. I could see him reaching out for help from the few people he really trusts.

    Now, the question is would he try to be a manipulative jerk about it, or more open and straight forward?

    Also, I just like whenever Ascanio’s world view is shaken. It’s good for him. And I think he should see Fortwood at some point.

  171. 1) Naeemah (and her whole extended family) not only because she’s a killer (as all of Kate’s foundlings are) but because her family/clan are assassins of assassins & because they an oddity being were-crocs … with the proto-fae and all the other oddities running around it seems to fit quite well.

    2) Christopher, Barabbas, & Sophie I’m sure they could be written to leave Atlanta for some reason but Curran & Barabbas both walking away from the new and improved mercenary guild (which they probably still own) is something of a stretch.

    OFC visits by Andrea&Rapheal, Roman, Luther.

    Hugh & Elara & kids will probably all make cameos at some point or another however Hugh and Elara weaving into the Wilmington Years will create the same issues as Derek & Julie popping in… namely that there are Blood Heir/Iron & Magic stories to come and anything that happens in Wilmington could create issues telling those stories later. House Andrews has all that in hand I’m sure.

    I will be happy with whoever shows up … I really wish we could get the “Curran POV” treatment for Derek for the post-Atlanta -pre Blood Heir period. (Leaving Atlanta to ice fury & becoming Darren(?) Argent power-up story). We got Julie’s but the new Derek is still a mystery.

        With Rimush and Jushur who were the eyes,ears,blade of Shinar
        Naeemah & her family would expand Kate’s territory’s Intelligence/assassin/covert capabilities (think CIA/MI6/FSB(KGB))

        I agree that a were-croc family could in addition to the mer-man (boy (Darin)) would fill the amphibious Sea/Land Navy seal type operations/need within the intelligence sphere.

        Intelligence gathering or lack of it has been part of the whole KD universe.
        With the formation of the new Kingdom/Pack it will require appropriate staffing beyond just the wererats.

  225. Probably a popular choice, but KEELAN! I’m a sucker for an Irish brogue and he has such a twinkle. Also, 43 years ago I almost named my son Keelan. I ended up with Keegan and have not been sorry, but still the name is near and dear to my heart.

    • Okay, obviously read the blog wrong. Kate’s Atlanta, MaryF! Next choice is Andrea. I loved their friendship and would like to revisit it. What would IA do with that relationship now that she is an alpha. And I want to see how Baby B has grown up.

  226. I already have my audio bundle and am on book 2 now. I love Kate’s new “voice” she’s great. I’m getting used to Curran—I’m just not used to switching but nothing overly jarring. I like it all!! Happy release day after. Can’t wait for more happy news!! Also we just got our executed agreement of sale on a new home!       • Well I’ve wondered how the relationship between Gastech and Kate would evolve. He seemed angry that she lost her connection with Atlanta – because he is afraid of dying and had planned for her to sustain him the way her father could? Or is she able to sustain his life force just because she wants to and sort of had promised him that, or at least let him think she would? You know how Kate’s conscience bothers her at times.

        And I wonder if her and Rowena got together. Would Gastech move to Wilmington to be near Kate and serve her again?

  277. Hugh. I’ld also love to see him and Curan think up ways to build a giant moat and what they would put in it. The possibilities for humor are endless! Maybe get Conlan in on it.
    Has to be someone who wouldn’t let the secret get back to Jim et al.

  279. I will say Neera because I am interested in seeing how the prehistoric fae integrate with everyone else. That said I hope we get to see how people react once it’s out in the open what Kate and Curran are doing. I am very curious to see who stays where they are at and who moves to join them.

    Frankly, it is difficult to pick as I enjoy all of your characters!! They each are interesting, and are so well written that you become invested in them as a reader. I can’t think of any character that I would be disappointed to see make an appearance in the next installment of the Wilmington years. 😃

    I grew up in Northern Virginia, then moved to Wilmington to attend college at UNCW, and stayed on there several years after graduating. I enjoyed the area, but after experiencing my third hurricane in I believe it was a four year period of time, I decided to move back to Northern Virginia. I did miss the beautiful Fall seasons in Virginia, and the lack of hurricanes was a decided plus as well!!! Wilmington was very much a “small town” compared to the Northern Virginia area, when I lived there. It would be interesting to me to see if it has remained that way. When I first moved there from Virginia, it used to drive me crazy how “slow” everyone was at doing everything!!! Then after several years, the pace of everything in Virginia seemed frantic to me whenever I visited back there!! 😆😆

    • LOL – I went to JMU in VA in 1987 (after a year at NOVA). You think Wilmington was small on everything – when I first got to Harrisonburg, there was almost no stores open on Sunday and it was so small. I totally get it! :). Loved it though.

  330. I’d like to see the Atlanta family visit, especially if Barabas/Chris and George/Eduardo have kids. The kids are a gang that drive Ascanio crazy whenever he’s sent to rescue them, so it would be great to see them drive the adult generation nuts with their hijinx. Or see them handle their pecking order. We had one east coast cousin who the west coast cousins hated because she always stole from us, but our parents would tell us to stop being selfish and force us to gift her our items – a favorite belt, that new cute skirt, etc. She lorded it over us for 2 really long weeks, so we planned a last minute secret raid on her luggage 20 minutes before her family left for the airport, where we discovered she had raided our wardrobes & taken even more clothes. We were pissed so we took back all our stuff and a couple of her treasured items. She never came back to visit & we din’t talk to each other for 5 years because, you know, girls and grudges, lol!

    LOVED the new audiobook, with small caveat. Please correct Mahon and Barrabas pronunciation for next book. I was ok with it not being Rene (although I did miss her and notice since I binged the whole series on audio before this was released) as I thought Hillary did a nice job. Looking to do graphic audio version of Magic Strikes when it comes out as it’s one of my favorites. Not sure if Mahon and Barrabas are pronounced the same as this one or the Rene versions. I’m not trying to be a nag or annoying and I am totally trying to be a supporting member of BDH!! Rock on Andrews team and Mod R!

      The pronunciation of Mahon and Barabas’ names is correct in the new books.
      The narrator asked for feedback from House Andrews, they sent her voice clips and she respected their wishes.
      By contrast, Renee Raudman chose to take artistic liberties with the instructions and did not respect authorial intent, as it is an audio narrator’s right to do.

Kate calling him uncle stupid head is always funny and the tension he can bring is also entertaining. Trying to hide the forest fort, especially if Desandra comes too, would pose a serious problem.     It did take me a while to adjust to the very different although excellent reader
    But I zipped through the book and my housework and drive to town in happy reading bliss…have started the famous Magic CLAMS…
    The quality of your writing is once again a delight as I enjoy the wonderfully descriptive elements sans gratuitous sex..thanks for leaving that out…

    It was once mentioned that if Kate were to have sexual relations with someone, that they would absorb/mimc each others powers. I would love to see both Kate and Curran share some of each others abilities.

  399. not an entry. But once the new Keep is done will the Beach house become the new Garrison for the Water shifters the pack is now collecting. There are Mer-people, Otter shifters, Crocodile shifters, Selkies and probably many others who need a base on the water. They wouldn’t have the trapped against the water issue in an attack. Plus they can be the new local “Coast Patrol” helping folks on the water and monitoring the shoreline. It would help Shifter PR, and keep it in working order. I’m sure Curran doesn’t want to give up his swimming spot.

    • The “everything” that Kate &co changed was a life of slavery and misery. I don’t think any of the Agers resent them for that 🙂

  414. I just finished the audio versions of the first two Wilmington books. Love meeting new characters and seeing how Kate, Curran and Conlan keep developing.

    So really rooting for a follow-up on Blood Heir. Anything being planned? I guess it could all tie in directly with Kate’s story arc…or not, if Julie defeats the bad guy. Also rooting for more on Roman.
