    I always buy the paperbacks for space as well as budget considerations, but wanted to show my support by buying this one in hardcover. I’ve read it 4 times so far and enjoyed it more each time. Thank you!!!

I think you all deserve supper and a long nap, but if you have inspirations for the Julie (and Derek please too) trilogy you should know we would love to hear about it–but give yourselves a vacation too. At some point the Barabbas/Jim/Ascanio adventures should also appear…and did you say something about Roman too? The big thing is authors who are rested and happy tend to write books where there is humor and character building. Authors who are grinding out something just to meet someone else’s demands end up grumpy and boring. So have some champagne and a lovely picnic and many flowers and give yourselves a break! We’d rather you took the time to do it right.
    I can always reread Kate Daniels for the 20th time ….

  15. SO well deserved! I am not at all surprised. I hate to go all fan girl on you two, but you have materially contributed to the amount of joy I have in my life.

    I have re-read all your books and I have done full re-reads of the entire Kate series (including all novellas) in order probably more than ten times. That is HOURS of enjoyment—- and they are just as good on the re-reads, maybe better since I don’t have any anxiety about what is going to happen.

    OK, ok. I am just one of the many thousands who did the easy thing of buying the book that you created over many months with your blood, sweat, tears and occasional curses; I like to pretend that I did something besides indulge myself. 😉

    I am so glad that you are getting the results and recognition that you deserve.

    I’m also sorry that some trolls have tarnished your well-deserved enjoyment of your accomplishments. I am flabbergasted that 1) people complained about the book (WTF?!? It was awesome!) and 2) people dared to complain about not getting an installment of a FREE STORY that you provide out of the goodness of your heart.

    Never mind that it is release week, I figure that if you decide to quit posting free content in the middle of the story just because you don’t feel like it, I have no right to complain. Yes, I can (and will) be disappointed, but I’ve already gotten several chapters of quality product for free. No whining allowed. Thank you for all that you do for your fans. I can’t speak for all of them, but *I* certainly appreciate your generosity.

  24. CONGRATULATIONS!! Your amazing talent and hard work are being recognized!! Of course, the BDH have had the good sense and taste to recognize it immediately upon reading ANY of your works. You bring joy and a pleasureable escape to your readers with your incredible world building and character development. You give the people and places of your imagination rich life, and share them so beautifully through your craft. I personally have had so many hours of enjoyment reading, and rereading, your books. There were times I was severely limited physically while recovering from multiple major surgeries. It is easy to become depressed when you are in great pain, unable to even get out of bed unassisted, and are stuck like that for weeks, facing more weeks of the same. I turned to your books for comfort, like visiting a close friend, and they helped get me through times I am surprised I survived. You work hard, bring joy and a mental “vacation “ to your readers. Take time yourselves to relax and recharge. I don’t know who had the unbelievable gall to complain about no SOTB installment (gasp! How DARE you do anything except provide free entertainment to others!), or who again had the gall to berate ANYONE who works diligently to assist you and to provide your fans with information, and I am greatly saddened to hear that some people did just that. I was not aware of any of it, and when I saw your post about it, I was in shock! It is difficult to believe that people can be such … trolls. I can’t think of a better word, that is still ok to use in polite company, so I will use that. I have seen it used by others in the comments here and thought it fitting. I was excited for you and all you were scheduled to do with release week and your signings, while being just a tad sad that I would not be able to attend any of them. I am capable of being happy for another person or persons without only thinking of myself and my wants. It is astonishing to me that there are trolls who can’t appreciate the gifts you do share with us, and who can’t simply be happy for your success without whining about something!! How any sane, thinking individual could imagine you would have time for anything with the busy schedule Brandi has been kind enough to keep us updated on, is beyond me. I am so sorry there are such selfish oafs, and that they marred what should be an exciting, triumphant time of celebration for you! I hope that you can ignore these unpleasant and selfish people, and can enjoy the results of your hard work!! SOTB is so wonderful because you enjoy what you do. When trolls suck all the enjoyment out, it ruins the experience for you and for the rest of the BDH, who appreciate what and when you choose to share with us, and who are celebrating your success with you! Thank you for all the joy and comfort you have brought me, and I hope you can put aside (as much as possible) the despicableness of what was hopefully only a few morons. You have such a busy schedule, and have had an extremely busy year; I hope you are able to take some time to bask in the glow of your accomplishments, and to simply rest and recharge. Another thing to make me happy – first reading your work, second listening to your work – those cds of your books are like rediscovering it all over again, and help me get a lot of boring work out of the way around the house! – and now being happy FOR you, that all of this is appreciated by so many others.
    Glad you are getting such wonderful recognition. Anyone who writes knows how much agony this can be. Those of us who TEACH know how hard it is for authors to get to this point!

  41. huge congratulations to you both ! The Kate series has been the most consistently engrossing, well written, laughed & cried over series of books I have read in these past 20 years. A few other series were/still are very well written & enjoyable {Mercy Thompson, October Daye, Sookie, Cat & Bones, the Others} but your writing skill has kept Kate, Curran & the herd at the top. Not one bad book, & in each book not one note that jarred me out of their world. You are truly gifted.

    I look forward to the Baylor & Rogan series continuing, they have as much draw as K & C (’cause you wrote them 🙂 ) – but I am sad to think of no more Kate. Thankyou both, for giving us this outstanding urban fantasy series.

    I totally loved it! I was a bit nervous about reading it because I cried when Aunt B died and I was thinking “,I know Kate! She is gonna do something heroic and self- sacrificing.” I didn’t see the we hole Curran deal coming or the whole dragon thing! Awesome fix!!!!! I wrot5e a great review for you both too!
