Snippet Wednesday: the Glamor

Blog, Maggie, Snippet 108 Comments | POST A COMMENT April 22, 2026 by Ilona

Pressida grimaced and unhooked a small barrel secured to her saddle. Her Andican mare gave the barrel a derisive snort. Pressida had tied her on the other side of the log, well out of Keraengle’s kicking range.

“That is what I love about knighthood.” Pressida pulled a knife out, pried the lid off the barrel, and dumped two gallons of ripe fish entrails onto the beach. “The sheer glamor of the job.”

Who is Pressida? Where does she fit in the story? Why is her job so glamorous? Why was she dumping ripe fish entrails onto the beach? Is she a knight of Selva? Will she be helpful? Who or what is Keraengle? I need answers and I need them now!

Sigh. Fine. I’ll wait until the second book is out. Thanks for the snippet. Yay-rawr!

Her Name is Dame Pressida Vi Lattivet. She’s a knight and going from the Name, I think we can all guess who she serves.
She’s also a born Noblewoman so I guess a certain Duke we know put her in Maggies service to protect her and continue her training in etiquette.

Just the snippet I was about to go search for, so that’s some nice BDH work there, Wendy!

I think, given the vi in her name, we can all guess who Pressida serves. Yes, I mean “redacted”, ofc. I do wonder if they know what that invisible thing Maggie ‘saw’ in the water is? Why isn’t it mentioned in the books Maggie read? Or is it possibly referred to in one of the inexplicable random scenes?

In any case, definitely looking forward to meeting Dame Pressida! Thanks to HA for more crumbs to sustain us until our next meal!

    So…definitely still around Everard!

But is there a reason no one told Maggie that Everard made it back alive (including Everard himself), or did they really all just not think about it??? I could kind of understand Solentine not thinking about telling her and his people being tight lipped, but not Everard! But I don’t know if I’m just missing some emotional nuance, or if there is a reason that I will have to w*it for 🙂

I’m kind of assuming that there’s more to it, since we have no idea what all happened with Everard, the trip back, the expert poisoner trying to kill him. I’d think that if it didn’t work the first try he’d try again. But with Everard on guard but without the specific warning from Maggie, that could get complicated.

Or Maggie could b right, that Everard is faking his feelings for her, but I really hope not! If that were true, he’s too smart not to have sent her a note. It feels to me, more like Everard had a lot going on and maybe made it to town just in time. Prob planned to see Maggie after the big event. Hmm, I can’t remember if we know exactly when he got back-time to reread!

This is up to Spanish publishers 🙂. Authors do not control which books are published or translated in foreign countries.
House Andrews are very happy to have their works available as widely as possible – if you are interested in more Ilona Andrews books in your own language, please let publishers know!
