Graphic Audio
We are planning a GA adaptation but it will be a couple of years before it will become a reality. There are contractual exclusivity periods that ensure that GA adaptations do not conflict with the traditional audio.
Sales and Spoilers
TKWNKM is officially six months old. This generated all kinds of speculation regarding sales, including the forensic accounting level of sleuthing on Reddit. I was so impressed, I broke my no Reddit rule and left a comment.
Short version: we are optimistic that TKWNKM has done well, but we will need to see a royalty statement before we can celebrate.
Also, how in the world did you guys find out that the book went into a reprint? Did I mention it accidentally somewhere?
Mod R reminded me that we permit spoilers at 6 month mark, so an official Maggie Spoiler Filled discussion thread will go up sometime this week. You will be able to ask questions in the comments, and we will do a follow up answering what we can.

London 2027
We are working on a plan to get to London in summer of the next year. We also have an EU tour shaping up that summer. Right now we are hoping to stick close to the original time frame, because we are scheduled for all sorts of stuff. So if you were planning to see us, unless weirdness happens, we will be visiting UK. More to come when we have firmer dates.
Spanish AI Mess
“Spanish Hidden Legacy audiobooks new release is using Virtual Voice and the BDH are VERY unhappy”
What fresh hell is this… Okay, so these titles are released by Harlequin Iberica, and we have a very limited control here. Our only recourse is to write a strongly worded email, which we will do as soon as I am done here. More to come.
Vellum and Store
So for reasons I detailed privately to the 140 people who are still waiting, we hit a delay on vellum fulfillment. This just came in. They are promising it will be in my hands by noon.
If they did not mess this up again, then we will go straight to order fulfillment. Once again, my deepest apologies. This was a harsh lesson in printing supplies’ shortages.
Once these orders are out, we will reopen the merch store. We know that you are waiting to make the holiday season purchases. We also have a winner who is still waiting for their shopping spree. My apologies. I want to make sure that the store is cleaned up and ready, and I am afraid to do this while we still have vellum orders pending.

This was a very busy year for us. The final wordcount for TC… oops, almost messed up, Maggie #2 is at 239, 973 and is likely to go up a tiny bit, because we cut a lot and the two people who have read it prior to cuts informed that they were sad some stuff was omitted. It is 1,054 MS Word pages long. For comparison, TKWNKM was at 191,045 with Acknowledgments and extra format stuff.
It’s been 4 months of extremely dense labor. The last two months were filled with 12 hour work days. I apologize if your email went unanswered. We are catching up on all the book requests, letters, etc. now.
What’s next?
Give us a week to breathe, and we will figure it out.

If we stick to the existing pattern, we have a noun followed by a negative verb of the same first two letters. The most powerful negative C verbs I came up with are: Confine, Conquer, and Corrupt.
The best nouns starting with CO that I could think of considering the struggles I expect Maggie might face this book: Country, Commander, and Court. Country would be the most likely as it is a synonym for Kingdom, but I’ll allow they may not follow pattern that exactly. So my guesses:
1) The Country Will Not Conquer Me (Maggie is frustrated by how forces in Rellas keep pushing back against her and it is wearing down her spirit)
2) This Country Will Not Confine Me (Maggie wants to go home, but in addition to starting the book kidnapped, Rellas is slowly imprisoning her through the bonds she has formed here.)
3) The Country Will Not Corrupt Me (Maggie is being forced to make morally grey choices to save the Rellas)
4) The Commander Will Not Conquer Me (E and A are trying to conquer her heart)
5) This Commander Will Not Confine Me (S, EV or A is keeping her captive)
6) The Court Will Not Corrupt Me (Dealing with the nobility forces Maggie to make morally grey choices)

I like Claim as the verb. I would guess this book will see Maggie struggling with loyalties between her old life and her life in Rellas. Its a declaration of her intent not to tie herself to Rellas. It also has a double meaning of claimed, as in her life will not claimed (she won’t be murdered). My only hesitation is that I can’t think of any good CL nouns outside of “Clan”, and I don’t think it is the Okula that would be trying the hardest to claim her. Kingdom and Kill start with “KI” so this may be a deal breaker. If they are will to relax the structure slightly, “This Country Will Not Claim Me” fits very well with a Kingdom synonym for the noun and the shared first letter with the verb. There’s also “This Commander will not Claim me” since S, E and A will undoubtably be pursuing her one way or another during this book and all are Lord Commanders.

If they don’t stick to the two first letter match pattern, this has a lot of potential because this book will undoubtably feature Maggie’s struggle between her old life and her new life. There is also “The Commander will not Claim” if they aren’t married to it being a Kingdom synonym/place every time. Lots of commanders in the story trying to claim her.

I agree with my Spanish Horde brethren. A bad AI reader can ruin a story. Quote dot dot dot quote completely drove me away from what was a really cute story involving twin children deciding on a new coparent. When I described it to my sister, she noted that it would’ve driven her crazy.
Considering what a bad AI reader can do to a one-line message, I shudder to think about a whole book done that way ! And then there is the flatness in the AI voice… reading a book should be full of emotions in my humble opinion
All this to say that I too fully support the outrage of the Spanish BDH

I just went to Europe and I highly recommend the Queen Mary 2 to go over. It was super relaxing and I was adjusted to the time change when I arrived in England. I would do it again.

This Cat Will Not Abuse Me. One thing with your title for Maggie 1 is it is all consonants so it is hard to use as mnemonic ( unless you were Welsh of course *lol*), you need a title like Sarah J Maas and ACOTAR *lol*)
congrats with Maggie 1, a second printing really means something for what I know. My wife monitors book reviews out in book land and she has seen a lot more reviews over time from non BDH members finding Maggie, and always with great reviews.

“This Crown Will Not Crush Me” – even though I agree that Crown is overused in book titles
I remember working 12-hour days for month and how tired I was after. Lazing on a beach with a good book always helped me to unwind. Usually I started to feel better on the third day of my vacation.
I am the very most casual of Horde members, and sometimes question whether to keep getting the updates (I love y’all, but it is a lot of emails). This kind of thing is why I don’t unsubscribe – it’s so interesting! This is the kind of minutia that let one glimpse the day-to-day of a business made around art. I know my entertainment wasn’t the purpose, but I still wanted to say thanks.

I am kind of partial to the capybara idea, because who isn’t partial to giant chunky guinea pig who would definitely be friends with a ferret?? But I think I’ll go with “This Crown Will Not Crush Me” for my guess.
Yeah, capybaras are friends with pretty much every kind of critter that doesn’t eat them. You see other critters lounging with and even on top of them all the time. And they’re big enough that even a ferret, bloodthirsty as they can be, wouldn’t be ambitious enough to try eating one. At least, not an adult capybara.
