“Do we have a family chart for the Baylors and all their cousins? Even one with unnamed relatives/ unknown people listed? I have a really hard time when reading the books or the blog comments connecting everyone outside of the Grandmas, Mama P and three sisters.” T.
Ok, strap in!
🚨 There are no spoilers in this breakdown if you’ve read all the published books 🚨, but it does contain a little extra information. This comes either from the Hidden Legacy portal that used to exist on this website or sneaky bits from House Andrews Q&As. You’re not going to tell on me, will you 😉. As always though, if it’s not in print it’s subject to change, so please be mindful of that. It stops at Emerald Blaze, the most recent book at present moment for this post.
Grandparents Generation:
Frida Afram: Magister Exemplaria (pattern mage) of unknown level, with a mechanical specialisation. Frida is an Army veteran and runs her own garage business, where she “talks” to the armoured vehicles Houston Houses bring to her to fix. She adores her grandchildren and drama, as well as her tank Romeo and taking a blowtorch to her latest knitting project.
Leon Afram: Magus Sagittarius (sharpshooter mage), Notable level, threat-based like his grand-daughter Nevada. He was also in the Army. Originally from Quebec, he was Black Canadian. He and Frida encountered problems for being a mixed race couple, but love conquered all.
Victoria Tremaine: Prime Truthseeker, Head of House Tremaine. After 12 miscarriages and the death of the man she loved, she bought the sperm of a Prime donor and used the comatose Misha Marcotte as a surrogate mother for her son, James. She was horrible to James, in the hopes of toughening him up, and currently uses the same merciless hand with the Baylors. After James’ disappearance, she frightened the Prime world with her ruthless interrogation techniques. Self admitted “abomination”. Currently held at Shenandoah State Correctional Facility, a luxury Prime prison, for her involvement in the Caesar conspiracy.
Unknown Male Prime of House (previously known as) Molpe: Greek Siren, excised from his House and found by Victoria when he was “terrified to use his power because it brought him nothing but misery”. House Molpe has changed their name as it gave too much of a clue into their Siren talent. They claimed only women of the line inherited it, and chose to have only male descendants. BDH theories about him abound, but The Cool Aunt lets us know he is alive and well and still in contact with La Tremaine.
Misha Marcotte: Metamorphosis Prime, Beast of Cologne. Lost her humanity and reason whilst in Beast form. Purportedly drowned in the Rhine by combined European military forces, she was in fact kept under constant sedation, in human form. Victoria Tremaine used her as a surrogate and subsequently had her sterilised. Misha’s talent passed onto James through maternal microchimerism and from him to his youngest daughter, Arabella. Misha is deceased.
Parents Generation:
James Baylor: A magic carrier, but with no manifest magic talent of his own. Son of Victoria Tremaine, he ran away from her and lived his entire life in hiding. He chose the surname Baylor at random from a Houston telephone book, picking one of the most common options. Married Penelope when they were both very young and became primary carer for the children when she went in the military. With Penelope, formally adopted her nephews, Bern and Leon. Started Baylor Investigative Agency and set the family up with a way to earn their living as well as a solid principle foundation on how to live their lives. Died of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour (MPNST) when Nevada was 19.
Penelope Baylor: Magus Sagittarius of unknown level, not threat based. Sniper, Army veteran and former POW, Penelope returned from the war with PTSD. The kind that makes it extremely difficult to adjust to civilian life, similar to Rogan’s. If you have to fight, fight to kill. In an altercation with her sister Gisela and her boyfriend at the time, the latter threatened and tried to grab Bern and Leon, who were already living with Penelope. She tried her best to break his neck. He survived and pressed charges against Penelope, which caused her to lose her PI licence. The charges rolled through the court system and were dismissed on the condition that Penelope underwent therapy, which she did, but her licence was never reinstated. Currently is in charge of the security of House Baylor.
Gisela Afram: Magus Sagittarius, unknown level. Penelope’s sister and “not the best mother” (understatement) to Bern and Leon. Her two sons have different fathers, who are unknown but heavily speculated on by the BDH. Current whereabouts (as of EB) at the Royal Club inside Zona Rosa of Mexico City.
Arrosa Rogan: Prime Telekinetic and dual Empath. For more on her family of origin, the Ramirez, please see the family tree at the beginning of Diamond Fire because we could be here for years. Mother to Connor Rogan and mentor to Catalina Baylor. Current whereabouts: the Basque region in Spain, but she has a big house in Texas she wants Rogan and Nevada to fill with grandchildren.
Will Rogan: Prime Telekinetic of outstanding rank, like his son. Came from an incredibly straight laced family. After surviving several murder attempts, he was obsessed with producing a Telekinetic Sensate offspring so they would be safe. Shrewd businessman. Deceased.
Marcello Sagredo: Prime Antistasi, Count Sagredo. Murdered by Arkan at a the wedding of his best friend roughly 15 years ago, when he tried to defend the groom, who was the true target. Survived by his wife, 3 youngest children (including Alessandro) and his father.
Sigourney Etterson: Prime Venenata, Former Gold Staff of the Texas Assembly. Single mother to Runa, Halle and Ragnar, all Prime Venenatas. Secretly an assassin working for Diatheke. Deceased.
James Tolbert: Significant Purifier, ex-husband of Sigourney and father of the 3 Etterson siblings. Whereabouts unknown, good for nothing.
Main Characters Generation:
Nevada Baylor: Prime Truthseeker (Magus Elenchus), untested level Magus Sagittarius, threat based (never misses if shooting at someone who endangers her life). Very magically powerful, but started off without much magical education. Took over the Baylor family business at 17 and operated in crisis mode for years. Instrumental in saving Houston several times over and dismantling the plots of the Caesar conspiracy. Head of House Baylor and of the family business until her late 20s. Currently House Rogan. Gave birth to the her son, Arthur, at the end of Emerald Blazes and is enjoying her HEA with Mad Rogan.
Catalina Baylor: Siren Prime, Magus Sagittarius of untested level (with blade specialisation). Very sheltered in her childhood due to the effects of her power, Catalina is now the Head of House Baylor, runs Baylor Investigative Agency and is the Deputy Warden of Texas. Unlike most other mages, she doesn’t need to expand effort in order to use her talent, but rather in order to keep her power from “spilling”. Extremely intelligent, she is an expert in magical theory, House contracts, Prime life etc. She has mentors in Arrosa Rogan, Linus Duncan and Victoria Tremaine, the latter being also her primary enemy. In love with her now fiancé, Alessandro Sagredo, since her teen years.
Arabella Baylor: Prime Mage Metamorph, Beast of Cologne. Can access various traits of her Beast (strength, olfactory sense etc) in human form. Can keep her humanity and reason in her shifted form. Youngest Baylor, she is sensitive and temperamental as well as very practical and observant. Likes cute guys and would rather nope on Maths (a whole entire mood). Underestimate at your own peril.
Bern Baylor: Upper range Significant Magister Exemplaria, like his Grandmother Frida, but primarily IT manifestation. Gentle and level-headed giant, he is the background checker of the Baylor Investigative Agency and reliable to a fault. Tall, muscled and a wrestling and judo athlete. In a relationship with Runa Etterson (“leaves the house for her” level of in love, so it’s definitely serious).
Leon Baylor: Magus Sagittarius, like the Grandfather he is named after, not threat based. Dark Horse of House Baylor, refuses to get formally tested. Never misses a shot and can plan bullet trajectories. Hilarious, if a bit disturbed sense of humour. Suffered a lot as a teenager thinking he lacked magical talent and physical prowess. Mad Rogan fanboy (who amongst us can cast the first stone?).
Baylor spouses or confirmed hunny-buns:
Connor Rogan: Telekinetic Prime, Tactile and weak empath/telepath gift. Also known as El Huracan, Mad Rogan, Sexy Drago…ahem. I got distracted. Where were we? Right, rebellious teenager, military career where he got used as a demolition superhero by the Army. Constantly in war mode until he meets the love of his life, Nevada Baylor, and opened to the world again. A billionaire, has multiple businesses, including his own security team, Castra, and staff of military rescues. He’s very funny (just ask Peaches), loves chocolate mousse and is best friends with Pancakes Montgomery, for his sins.
Alessandro Sagredo: Antistasi Prime, excised son and heir of the aristocratic Venetian House Sagredo. Code names: The Artisan, The Wolf. Witnessed the death of his father at the hands of Arkan when he was 10 years old and has made it his life mission to get revenge. Posed as superficial Eurotrash international playboy whilst working as the assassin’s assassin. Has 1 piece Evil Grandfather, 1 mother, 2 sisters, a deceased father, and a deceased older brother who died as a baby. Loves spicy peppers but they do not love him back. Currently the Keeper to the the Deputy Warden of Texas- in other words doing what he loves most, which is protecting Catalina Baylor, his one true love.
Runa Etterson: Prime Venenata, Head of House Etterson. Older sister to Halle and Ragnar, best friend of Catalina, serious girlfriend (wants to join the family) of Bern. Very loyal to House Baylor, who helped her when no one would. Helped save Nevada and Rogan’s wedding and instrumental in saving Grandma Frida’s life in EB.
Benjiro Heart: Sgt Heart is Rogan’s second in command. The Baylors tip toe around Penelope’s relationship with Benjiro for fear of pushing too much, and so shall we. (But also, Penjiro 4ever!)
Grandkids generation:
Arthur Rogan– the Bébé (Moira Rose accent). Prime Telekinetic for sure, and who knows what else (except House Andrews). Newborn at the end of EB, we already know he gets up to a lot of adorable trouble.
Patricia Schlorke says
Whoa! Go Mod R! That’s a great way to depict the entire Hidden Legacy series for those who are new to the books. 😀
Yes, we will tiptoe very quietly around the Penelope/Benjiro thing going on. 😉

Family trees are complicated to write and worse to understand. I think you did GREAT!
Stacey says
I keep going back and forth between a prime of house Molpe not necessarily being a prime siren and wondering if one can have two prime magics. Perhaps a non prime siren would be described as charming rather than infatuation inducing?
Moderator R says
Look at me not saying absolutely anything about the Siren situation. Seriously, observe 😀 .
Completely unrelated however, regarding the “two prime level magics” thing, yes, it is possible:
““He’s a Prime,” Rogan said.
You don’t say. “What sort of magic?”
“He’s a dual fulgur and aero Prime, highest certification in both.”
Holy crap. Alexander Sturm controlled both wind and lightning. “Nice name.””
Andrews, Ilona. Wildfire, Hidden Legacy 3. Avon HarperCollins, 2017. Kindle edition, page 202.
Saidae says
Wasn’t there also that cryptic and random “Dual” comment by Rogan when the family was talking about Nevada’s magus Sagittarius status? 😉
Moderator R says
Dual Mage ≠ Dual Prime.
Nevada has two magical talents but only one of them, her Truthseeker power, is of Prime level.
I hope this helped 🙂
Emilye says
This is soooo coool. I really like the link to microchimeraism, as an explanation of Arabella’s primary talent.
Way to go, Mod R!
Nice dodge???? on the siren speculation, btw, tee hee!
Upstate M says
I think the microchimerism idea is interesting, but I’m not sure how it would work to get something down to the next generation. The germline goes down through a single sperm cell to each of his daughters. Cells originating from his surrogate mother would not pass through the germline.
Moderator R says
It’s a world of powerful talents influenced by a Serum :). Magic finds a way.
Kate says
Leon Afram – I think we don’t know what happened to him. Do you?
Moderator R says
I don’t remember anything certain. Nevada has only vague memories of him, so he likely passed away quite a while ago. There’s a bit about him needing help:
“Your dad did a good job taking care of you, and later, of your sisters. He built a business that still puts food on our table. And when Grandpa Leon needed help, your dad always offered it and never once asked for any acknowledgment. He was a good man, your father. I was proud of him and proud to be his wife.”
Andrews, Ilona. White Hot, Hidden Legacy 2. Avon HarperCollins, 2017.Kindle edition, page 145
Kate says
And I have to assume, no relatives from Leon’s branch of the tree? Or twigs on grandma Frida’s side (siblings, nephews, nieces, etc)?
Families can be funny. My mom knew all of her second and even third cousins. My dad grew up in the same city as a bunch of first cousins that he didn’t even know existed until we started doing genealogical research (estranged sisters, nobody living know why).
Joss says
Considering who his mother was, a father was as alien to him as a loving family. Or just a family in general
Stephanie Gasior says
I didn’t know misha was dead. How did that happen?
Moderator R says
We are left to draw our own conclusions given the circumstances she was kept in and the fact that she would have been in her 70s when the HL books take place.
Stephanie Gasior says
Gotcha, thank you Mod R!
Jrambo says
“Connor Rogan: Telekinetic Prime, Sensate and weak empath/telepath gift.” Does sensate mean what sensate means in the Kate Daniels world?
Moderator R says
That is my bad, he is not a Sensate, he is a Tactile, fixed it above. His father wanted him to be a Sensate, who could sense when he was in danger. Instead he is a Tactile, he can make you feel touched.
Patricia Schlorke says
Much to Nevada’s delight! 😀
Dave says
Random question:
Can Arabela actively or passively determine if Augustine is nearby by smell? Unlike the guard dogs, she has met him repeatedly. (I suspect that this will be cleared up if she gets her own trilogy and HEA)
savil says
Whoa, i missed how Penelope lost her PI license! thank you for this!
Tink says
I knew she had lost it but couldn’t remember the circumstances.
Amanda Carter says
I absolutely love this kind of stuff, thank you so much!
LisaAlissa says
This is for ModR, and need not be published:
Think the “not” in this paragraph needs to be deleted:
“Benjiro Heart: Sgt Heart is Rogan’s second in command. The Baylors tip toe around Penelope’s relationship with Benjiro for fear of not pushing too much, and so shall we. (But also, Penjiro 4ever!)”
Since if they are “tip-toeing,” they are being careful not to push. So wouldn’t fear “not pushing” but would fear “pushing too much.”
This looks like a carefully edited sentence…it happens. So thought you might like the chance to correct.
Love your character summaries and family trees!
“Go ModR!!!”
Moderator R says
Thank you, fixed it ????
Tink says
Also, love the Penjiro shipper name. And the “let the ships sail” comment next to Arabella.
Momo says
Nice overview. Lovely to refresh before a new read but I usually don’t have a Problem keeping the characters straight 🙂
Btw
Shouldn’t it say Connor Rogan Tactile instead of Sensate in the family tree? 🙂
Moderator R says
Yep, took a bit to fix the graph, it now reads correctly 🙂
Carol Murphy says
Isn’t Alessandro a dual or triple Prime? He is able to summon weapons and jump out of windows from the second floor without getting hurt. I have no idea what kind of magic those would be. Grabius? Bounceius?
Moderator R says
Those are all part of his Antistasi talent ????
Variel says
Bounceius ????
wont says

Mod R, this blog post is a real work of art – and I don’t just mean the graphs!
Also, this line re: Catalina – She has mentors in Arrosa Rogan, Linus Duncan, and Victoria Tremaine – made me go ????. I mean, I knew they all mentored her in some capacity but seeing those three names in one line . . . well, that’s an all-star cast of mentors right there.

I do not have the brain power for this today. I hope to find this again the week of Thanksgiving or when I’m trapped somewhere cold with extended family.

Awesome! Thank you ????

Why are Catalina & Alessandro so cute even in their descriptions?
Also, the ‘Eurotrash’ reference made me grin – that whole scene is one of my favourites in EB.
Also, also, ‘and who knows what else’??? Did grandpa Rogan finally get his long awaited telekinetic/telepath? (Am I guilty of channeling everyone in the KDU
*spoiler*
pre-Conlan shift? Yes)
Moderator R says
I had to put the Eurotrash in there, it made me laugh so hard in the books ????

Tati says
Oh wow!! Thanks for putting this together!
After reading EB, I have one question, not sure if this is the place to be asking this:
House Baylor still doesn’t have a House spell, like older Houses do. Catalina is working on this, and makes a breakthrough at the end of EB.
However, older Houser are more “specialized” than the Baylors (in the sense that their powers run along the same lines, while House Baylor has Prime sisters with very different powers)
So, how would a House spell developed by Catalina work for Arabella? Or what matters is the design of the spell, and effects will vary depending on the wielder?
Kendal Bozant says
I think they will develope multiple house spells. If you remember, Nevada developed the wavy lines in her circle when interrogating the Summoner House. I don’t remember those lines appearing in Catalina’s circle.
And what would a circle do for Arabella? Would she develope it or would it be research done by future generations?
That leads to the question: would house Baylor become three new houses with each branch of magic?
Which leads to the question: do each of the Baylor daughters carry all the magical genes dormantly, or are they only capable of passing on their personal magic?
Diane says
The wavy lines weren’t developed by Nevada. They are part of the Tremaine truthseeking magic.
Kendal Bozant says
Nevada added them herself, she never saw the Tremaine House Spell, the lines just “felt right.”
It just so happens that she intuitively drew something that may be on the path to the Tremaine House Spell, but it may end up different if she develops it further
Daisy says
I thought the wavy lines were in Catalina’s circle- I thought that’s what she meant by “the Tremaine targeting band.”
Kendal Bozant says
You’re right, she does include them when she has the epiphany when drawing her circle in the swamp. (Emerald Blaze Ch.16 pg. 364. Andrews, Ilona)
Now the question becomes, would that circle work for Nevada, or is it keyed specifically to Catalina.
Joannah says
When did Arosa Rogan change into a prime telekinetic? I forget which book it was in, but I recall that when Rogan was first describing House genetics and how his parents met, he described his mother as being an empath with a minor telekinetic talent. Rogan’s father was “obsessed” with trying to breed some form of precognition into his children so that they could see and anticipate any threats against them. Wasn’t this why he would choose someone who’s main talent is being an empath, but also have a telekinetic (but as a minor) talent to keep the telekinetic talent in the bloodline?
I feel like it suddenly changed in Diamond Fire and Arosa (and the entire Ramirez family) became prime telekinetics when I thought their original power would fall along being an empath.
nrml says
Yeah, I remember wondering about this as well. But then I realized that I was reading fiction, and sometimes, it just works better to let it go and read as if you never saw that she had minor telekinetic and major empathic power. I actually went back and reread where Rogan said that about his mother, and that’s what it said — his father was hunting for empathic power for his children. I kind of figured that after surviving so many attempts to kill her, perhaps she just had to work hard to enhance her telekinetic abilities because she had to use the wheelchair? But the truth is, it doesn’t matter, because in fiction, things change according to the needs of the story lines in the book. The only prime telekinetic in Arosa’s family is a very young child. The rest are pretty ho-hum.
Darleen says
+1
Martina says
I remember Ilona answering it in the blog somewhere.
Paraphrased: Arosa being a prime telekinetic made a better story
Moderator R says
Think of it this way: would Mad Rogan truly be Mad Rogan if he freely divulged exact information about his mother’s power and ability to defend herself to anyone after such a short time? (no matter how much this anyone made him think of baseball and buying thousands of carnations 😉 )
We base our knowledge on the more recent appearances of the character, not on a paranoid Prime’s unreliable narration 🙂 .

Don’t know why they call them family trees, more like webs that suck you to your doom!
Manda says
Anyone else “shipping” (gosh I hate that term) Arabella & Henry Jiang?
Bookworm says
Yes – although I’m shipping Stephen Jiang and Arabella!!
Daisy says
Yes, definitely Henry! Pretty, closer to her age, and not into following the dictates of House life. The kind of guy who could be really into a strong, hot, woman and not worry about her magic being compatible or the fact that she turns into a giant drooling monster.
Manda says
Yes! And there was some off the wall comment in Emerald Blaze like setting up an entire plot. Something with secret Kung Fu and a thunder punch stopping a demon king.
Sam says
Nope! I’m all for Arabella and Michael (Records Keeper Michael, not Latimer or Rivera). Michaelbella?
Tasha A says
Thank you so much! This is so helpful! I took a screenshot of the big family tree so now everytime I reread I can refer back to this!!

Sorry but having read the weird theories post and having been told to reread Innkeeper after the quiz post, I have to make a comment which is not Baylor related.
Weird Theory No 1001: the lady who helped Dina at the Costco (great can throwing BTW) also Mrs. Marais?
I like it. And it is still sort of family related …. Just a different family.
Thank you for letting me get this off my chest. Because of work, I sometimes miss blog until later

This was fabulous – I loved your comments on the characters – although I’m not convinced that Mischa is dead. In Wilfire on page 310, Victoria says that “she’s kept under constant sedation” – indicating that she’s still alive, at least at that point, and there are no other indications elsewhere that she’s been killed (unless I missed it in a Q&A which is quite possible.) Here are just a couple of my favorites, although I could probably just say “ALL OF IT”:
Re Rogan: “He’s very funny (just ask peaches)”
Re Arrosa : “but she has a big house in Houston she wants Rogan and Nevada to fill with grandchildren”
Re Bern: “In relationship with Runa Etterson (“leaves the house for her” level of inlove [sic], so it’s definitely serious).”
(Honestly, I feel called out by this comment – this is my level of serious love ????????♀️????????????)
Re Arabella: “and would rather nope on Maths (a whole entire mood)”- And Mod R you are fabulous your English/European status is definitely showing here: an American would say ‘nope on math’. And now I really want to go back to Britain again and meet you for tea and chat. Like, REALLY.
Also, does anyone else wish that they could meet other BDH fans that live close to them? No, just me being fanatical. Ok then.
Moderator R says
???? Misha passing was indeed a Q&A goodie, after the release of Sapphire Flames.
Bookworm says
Ah ok – thank you Mod R!! I’ve never been able to make it to a Q&A and now I’m greedy and wish I could find transcripts… ????????????
Ritarsha says
I’m in Japan if any BDH want a meet up to fangirl/boy over the books

Los Angeles anyone?
Emily07 says
Wow. Thank you for this. It really helps explain the family and their dynamics and connections. Something to save, and to use as a reference.
And, really really can’t wait to “let the ships sail”, and see where “Penjiro” goes. More fun for me and all the other BDH’s.
Cathy says
Thank you so much! I enjoyed this tremendously. It was a wonderful walk through one of my favorite book series. Your character descriptions are perfect. Thank you for the time and effort you put into this!
Jean says
Augustine is “Pancakes” because of the incident in college, but can’t remember who Connor is giving a hard time to with the nickname “Peaches”. Any help appreciated!!
Thanks!! ????????
Ritarsha says
Peaches is the dude who was in the Pit in the first book. He was smashed by Rohan with a building on his way to meet Bug for the first time
Ritarsha says
Mod R, thank you so much for the effort and labor put forth. Everything was a review for me either the exception of The Cool Aunt which I somehow missed. ????????♀️ Do you know how Arabella knew it was her grandfather? I always assumed it was Linus in the room, that he’s Caesar
Moderator R says
I cannot confirm nor deny who it is, but Arabella is shown to be extremely observant on several separate occasions ????
Arlenys says
She wants someone we met in SF I think he was some kind of action actor? She dressed up to impress him in one of the snippets
I so want her to stay in House Baylor if she marries and goes to another house it would seem like Catalina is the only one left in that ship. The same to Leon and Bern, I Also want Leon having his powers publicly discovered while saving one of the sisters most likely Arabela during one of her books (because there Will be books of her) and then testing them be labeled as a Prime!
I also want HEA for Bug and Cornelios and maybe even Agustine qnd Leon, but for him I want his own books!
Thanks Mod R Us♥️????
akk says
Wonder if she is able to smell the relationship (and hadn’t bothered to smell Linus with her magic before) – HLA can influence body odor.
Wendy says
Thank you for putting the tree together. And agreed “Penjiro 4ever!”
Lynn Thompson says
Gold star, Mod R. Thank you for the well put together post. Good job.
My family decided when I got divorced I needed something “helpful” to keep my mind off personal situation (and the mistress). She married someone else 3 years later. ???? however, I spent years documenting abandoned (I am not allergic to poison ivy unfortunately) in SC USA and current family cemeteries, going to assorted courthouses in SC, NC, VA, GA, AL, Fl…, using a magnifying glass to read census hieroglyphics on microfiche….
Every reunion they find something to argue about. 20 years so far. Won’t let me quit. Now they say I need to go across Atlantic Ocean to England to document pre revolutionary war immigrants. I know port where they arrived but not ship. I said when pigs sprout wings and fly. It is family.
CathyTara says
Just great! Thank you
Oksana P. says
Thank you, Mod R! This is some great???? work you put in! I appreciated the refresher on family tree since I’m about to re-read the series. And I love to read all the comments after the posts! Thank you all! ????????????
Linda says
Thank you for this family tree! Enjoyed it very much.
Now I am wondering how old is Ragnar compared to Arabella? ????
Moderator R says
Ragnar Etterson is 15 in Sapphire Flames, to Arabella’s 18/19.
🙂 Hope this helped.
Daisy says
He was three or four years younger than Arabella, right?
And seven years older than Matilda, which could work after she’s all grown up, especially if he’d been away for a long time. Just because best meet-cute ever!
sarafina says
Thanks Mod R, this is great.
One multi-part question on love and Houses. It seems like Alessandro will join House Baylor, but what about Bern and Runa? Is Runa running her house – doing what, since Halle has a job and Ragnar is still in school? Would Bern have to leave House Baylor if they married, or would Runa’s House join the Baylor Investigative Agency, which would be a big plus for BIA?
Thanks!
Arlenys says
Deeply interested un the answer ????
Moderator R says
I will ask about the status of House Etterson and House Baylor relationships 🙂 .
In terms of “doing what”- we see Runa doing her kind of thing even before her mother’s death. She is commissioned for 2 weeks by House Rogan to work as poison detector and neutraliser in Diamond Fire based on an agreement between House Rogan and House Etterson. She is also the heir of the House investments portfolio, security, House relations and the main decision maker for the members of her family etc. That’s plenty to do, I would think 🙂
Joanne says
“In the sea of Houston’s elite, the Ettersons were a relatively small fish and they swam by themselves. No strong ties to other Houses, no patrons of great influence. It wasn’t unusual. Many smaller Houses preferred to operate independently, unattached to a larger family. Powerful Houses had powerful enemies, and when you allied yourself to one, you inherited their friends and rivals.”
Obviously, the dynamics (and baggage) is different between the Nevada-Rogan union and the Runa-Bern (future) union. House Etterson members can probably still do their magic talent-related thing independently, but now they are attached to a house with powerful allies and enemies.
(Sorry, late reaction to topics again. Just browsing through old post for what I missed and reacting to what i recently re-reread.
Joanne says
oops, this is a reply meant for the previous comment, lol, it makes it seem I know more than Moderator R. sorry.
ames says
love the commentary.
what is the difference between Magus and Magister?
Tink says
I believe it is:
– Magus is a strength level of magic (Prime, Magus, Significant)
– Magister is a type of magic (puzzle solvers; i.e., people who can probably solve Soduku and crossword puzzles in pen)
Darleen says
I don’t think Magus is a magic rating. As I remember it, the ratings are minor, average, notable, significant, and prime.
Tink says
Yep, you’re right. Magus only appears to be used with Sagittarius. So Magus Sagittarius and Magister Exemplar are types of magic. Don’t know how they exactly translate to English.
Gypsy Tree says
“In pen” ????????????
So annoyed when people do that… unless it was the old school TV Guide crossword. I’ve given up the actual writing out by hand and do them online so I can “check the grid” after the first round of down and across.
“In pen” ????????????
Arlenys says
So yummy, just reading about Connor is like ummm delicious????????????
Darleen says
As a geneticist, I say you made a wonderful complicated family pedigree diagram.
Johanna J says
I’ll just add my “Wow! This was great. Thanks for pulling it together” along with everyone else. 🙂
Dana says
OK. So, for context, I work in IT. I have been involved and a principal in a number of multi billion dollar projects. What I have seen in this entry is complex and well written. I’m like WOW. I wish I had this much context.

This specific Blog is an Extreme Prime. Thank you. It will be referred to almost daily and deserves a special place in the references.

This is incredible! I really hope it gets put somewhere where it can be easily referenced, because it’s so darn useful!! The effort. Oh wow, so much work and more work – thank you ❤️❤️❤️ Off to start the reread now…
AP says
I know I said you extra rock when you posted the listing of all the “goodies” to read but you just went above and beyond!!!
This is awesome – thanks so much for putting it together!
Just curious Mod R… are you an author yourself?
You sure have a way with words. ????
“Also known as El Huracan, Mad Rogan, Sexy Drago…ahem. I got distracted”
“Likes cute guys and would rather nope on Maths (a whole entire mood)”
“He’s very funny (just ask Peaches), loves chocolate mousse and is best friends with Pancakes Montgomery, for his sins”
Graziella L says
I don’t remember Grandma Frida being Magister Exemplaria in the books, although know she specialises in fixing military vehicles. Exempleria is seeing patterns (Bern & Olivia’s grandson), isn’t it?
Kendal Bozant says
Machines have patterns to them, thus grandma Frida is a vehicle pattern mage while Bern is a computer (software/programmer) pattern mage. I bet grandma Frida is also killer at puzzles in general like Bern and Olivia’s grandson are.
Moderator R says
Yes 🙂 . Grandma Frida is a mech-mage Exemplaria, which means that she has affinity to engines, circuits and inner mechanisms (when she “talks” to them). I’m sure there are better quotes for her talent being named, but what my brain serves up straight away is this one, where she explains Bern’s talent came from her:
““That’s a hell of a shot,” Rogan’s man said.
Mom turned to Grandma Frida. “Threat-based?”
“Probably.” Grandma Frida grimaced. “Well, at least Bernard takes after me.”
“I don’t get it,” I said.
“Pause it,” Mom said. The woman paused the recording.
“You and your mom get your shooting from your grandfather,” Grandma Frida said.”

Omar Mtz says
I went to read this line in the book, and end up reading the whole book again.
SLeepy says
This may be a dumb question, but what does “Magus Sagittarius” mean?
Moderator R says
It’s the name of the talent ????.
Leon, Nevada, Penelope, Catalina- their use of weapons, and especially their weapons finding true aim, is enhanced by magic.
For Leon this is true in all cases, he has perfect aim. Penelope is also described, as a sniper, to take her rifle and just “go to her happy place”.
For Nevada it is threat-based: meaning it only manifests as a response to clear danger.
Hope this helped ????
Aj says
Your are wonderful Mod R. We appreciate you.
Lisa says
Wow!
Excellent… Thank you !????????????
Kate says
Silly question – As long as you are including profiles on relationships, will Zeus ever get a girlfriend?
Kendal Bozant says
I could totally be a cat person if it was Zeus
Sam says
Maybe one of Diana’s big cats? I’ve wondered if he had the opportunity to go back to his home world, would he want to? Hmm…

Love this, it answered alot of unanswered questions.
Thanks for the enfo

Nice job…thank you for doing this. Can wish for more, and more…but will say thank you and nice job and leave it there.
njb says
That was fun to read, thanks! One insignificant error, Arrosa’s house is in the hill country somewhere near New Braunfels, not Houston. Sorry, nit picker here. It was a three-ish hour drive for Catalina and Arabella when going to and fro before Nevada’s wedding.
And with any luck, your description of Victoria’s sperm donor will finally convince folks that it’s not Linus, who is not a siren prime. (Unless of course IA change something in a future book, can never tell hee hee!)
Moderator R says
You may want to read the donor’s description again 🙂
njb says
???? You said he was a Greek siren excised from his house. So did Victoria in book 2, I think. Linus is Hephaestus prime, so even tho Arabella says “grandfather” in Cool Aunt, absolutely nothing points to it being Linus. Why wouldn’t she say, hello Linus? No names are given, so what else am I supposed to get from this? You can make an assumption that the older gentleman is probably your grandfather, if you find him with Victoria cooing over the new baby.
Katie R says
Thanks for this. And LOL at the Moira Rose reference. I was imitating her accent just a couple of hours ago.
Joss says
I kinda thought in my crazy mind that Gisela was also experimented on….
Joss says
As in taken/kidnapped and given what she wanted in exchange for her cooperation.
Weak willed and couldn’t care less if she sold out her family for her own gain. Gisella and Tremaine are a perfect pair.
Joss says
Tremaine would have found him and his new family eventually, Gisella was the weakest link.
Nerilka says
Great work on the family tree! I spent some time plotting Arrosa’s family tree in full when reading Diamond Fire, as I couldn’t keep the cousins straight????. I probably still have it somewhere….
Dana Siegel says
I can’t remember what magus sagittarius means. Can someone explain please
Moderator R says
The magical talent that influences use of weapons, and in particular, the aim. Explained in Nevada’s text, her shooting aim is always true when she is in a threat situation. Leon and Penelope do not require the threat to be present to make true shots. Catalina has a version of the talent, but it expresses itself in her use of blades rather than guns.
I hope this helped 🙂
Bernie says
I think Magus Sagittarius relates to the astrological star sign. The centaur Chiron from Greek mythology known as a remarkable archer.
EriBronk says
Sagittarius as a astrological sign can be translated to polish and back to english as Archer or Shooter 😉
Dana Siegel says
thank you, that helps.
Diana says
Why did Marcello’s magic not protect him from being frozen and killed?
EriBronk says
Ooh… I don’t want to spoil it but it was explained when Catalina was watching the recording from the wedding where it happend and is related to Arkan’s talent 🙂
Skye says
Mod R, you are a goddess! You made an amazing, beautiful, and so very useful thing here and you made it for us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I had not known how Penelope lost her license.
I’m bookmarking this for when I reread. And for when Ruby Fever comes out.
Thank you.
Sam says
Mod R, thank you, this is wonderful, u da bess!
Marie S says
Thank you so much, Mod R. I wrote a long post yesterday in response to your story about discovering IA, and then, deleted it in error. So glad you found your calling with IA, both for Ilona and Gordon and us. Love your posts! This one must have taken a lot of work.
Daisy says
Ok, random question I’ve been wanting to ask and there is never a good spot for it.
Might Leon get his own book? I understand there can be no definite answer to this. If this is possibly the last book in Hidden Legacy, will we get any hint of a future HEA for him in Ruby Fever? It feels like a LOT of arcs and loose threads are being wrapped up in that book.
Ok, never mind, this is a stupid question that asks too much. I’m going to post it anyway because maybe some tiny hint of an answer might fall out in a future blog post. You never know.
In the immortal words of Nora Roberts, “If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.”
Arlenys says
It’s not a stupid question, maybe it can’t be answer right now but I think that at least Arabella Will have her own trilogy and maybe there we will see Leon’s HEA I mean he is too young now.
I’m like 99% sure Arabella will have her books, but how long would it take to be out I can’t even imagine IA has too much to write ????
I also want Cornelios, Agustine, Leon and Bug’s HEA, I don’t want Bug to die just because he is a Swarmer! Or Cornelius to be forever alone because He is an animal mage and can’t love people.
They deserve HEAs♥️
curriedchanna says
I am not certain that Leon is hetero and I don’t know why because nothing is said about him being attracted to anyone at all.
Daisy says
Huh. I don’t know. I just got the impression he was hetero. The bit where he notices that Nevada is pretty comes to mind. There are a few other more subtle things too.
But I’ve been wrong about this sort of thing before. So wrong.
curriedchanna says
I too know about being wrong. I was CONVINCED that alpha wolf Jennifer would get her head on straight eventually.
Kendal Bozant says
Didn’t he have that stalker girlfriend.
Nancy says
She p was a stalker, but I think just a girlfriend wanna be.
Arlenys says
Jajajajajajajjaja I dont feel him as homosexual but if he is I hope he gets a man as hot as Connor ????
cindy says
I am having a less then stellar month, oh let’s be honest here summer. I’m on the EDGE and no I’m not exaggerating! So this morning I received your MORSEL OF GOOEY GOODNESS!!!!! I started reading it and like most of your wonderful posts it made SMILE! So 1,0000 sincere Thank You for all that are physically involved making these wonderful worlds and characters.
Another 1,0000 Thank You to my fellow fans! I lurk and read the comments and at times it feels like I have found my fellow fun, quirky family so again Thank You to all you wonderful human beings.
cindy says
Sorry I didn’t mean to sound like I write!! Much apologies about my mishap here! I meant my “fan family”. Sorry my brain faster then my fingers! ????????????????????
Daisy says
It was clear what you meant! And yes, this is a lovely space filled with wonderful people. Thank you to House Andrews and Mod R for that, because without their values and dedication, it surely wouldn’t be.

VERY cool!

You have totally made my week. Thank you! 😀
Simone says
Great post! Thank you Mod R and Franesca ????
Kirsten says
I didn’t take Arabella’s comment in The Cool Aunt to mean her biological grandfather. I assumed it was in reference to someone close to her grandmother who treated her like a granddaughter by spoiling her rotten, letting her have cigars…
I have suspicions, you see.

Enjoyable!

Is there going to be an arabella trilogy. She seems to be an interesting character.
Omar Mtz says
Thank you!!! But question. What’s the difference with some of them having the designation “Mage” and not other even though their are Primes? ????
Moderator R says
I would need the clear example of who you mean, but in some cases Magus is part of the name of the power, see Magus Sagittarius. Mage just means someone with magical talent, it is not a degree of it, like Significant, Prime etc.
Attention that if someone is a Dual Mage it does not mean they are a Dual Prime. The second power, usually from a different branch of magic, is generally of lower level. ????
Omar Mtz says
Thank you!!!
Pang says
I don’t rmb the meaning of magus xxxx of the grandparents
Moderator R says
Magus Sagittarius?
The magical talent that influences use of weapons, and in particular, the aim. Explained in Nevada’s text, her shooting aim is always true when she is in a threat situation ????
Leon and Penelope do not require the threat to be present to be sharpshooters.
Catalina has a version of the talent, but it expresses itself in her use of blades rather than guns.
I hope this helped ????

Thanks mod R, your work is really appreciated. I was able to gain a clearer picture of that whole world.
This is an awesome reference piece which wehave all applauded. Kudos to you and the lady that supported you.
Gaëlle from France says
Wonderful, thank you !!! Amazing work !!
You’re very funny by the way !!
Kim says
Thank you for putting these charts together. This is an impressive amount of work, and helpful to keep the character relationships together.
Polina Makeeva says
How do we know that Gisela Afram is a Magus Sagittarius?
I’d like to know what to re-read 🙂
Thanks!
Moderator R says
That’s one of the extras I was referring to ????, it’s not in the books.
Wendy says
Thank you for putting this together. It was very interesting, as were the comments that followed.
I am interested in Arabella’s talents. Her Metamorphosis talents were genetically “leaked” to her father from his surrogate mother. But what else can Arabella do? What did she genetically inherit from her family?
Just wondering…
Kate says
A question you probably can’t answer about Linus. He is the head of House Duncan, but we haven’t seen or heard of any other Duncans. There had to have been at least one other when he was confirmed.
So we don’t know what the House Duncan story is, do you think the other Houses know the story (or a story) and we just haven’t heard yet? Or is he a man of mystery to everyone?
Alex says
Cheers!
EliEden says
Penjiro 4ever!!! Oh I completely agree 😀
Thank you so much for this Mod R!
Joanie says
This is amazing, thank you ! It did bring up a question for me…. Does the military test individuals for power or the strength of their powers? With the way the military uses individual’s powers to their advantage seems they would want to test anyone showing potential . I was wondering because of all the individuals in the family who have military background yet they don’t know the levels of their powers .
Moderator R says
We don’t know the level of their power ????, it hasn’t been a topic of discussion. That doesn’t mean they don’t.
And it just applies to Grandma Frida and Penelope, we know the level of other military characters.
Joanie says
Thank you
Janny says
Love this, thank you

Ok after reading the family tree post I had to go back and start reading Hidden Legacy again. I had been going through a stage where I just could not settle with a new book or series; I was not excited or engaged by anything I tried to start. However re-reading Hidden Legacy became a gift as I got lost in the stories and ended up reading until 2 am to finish White Hot. Thank you so much for the quality of the books you create – I am in awe of your talents. Thank you for sharing your gifts. Now back to Wildfire…
Barb says
WOW I am always amazed at the thought that goes into the character development in y’alls books!!
I loved the peek into it!
:0)
Circejane says
Thank you so much for doing this. Don’t forget Halle Etterson, though!! <3
Moderator R says
I have not, she is in the last 2 graphs as well as mentioned in her mother’s and sister’s descriptions. 🙂
Circejane says
And this is why I should look thrice before posting. Sorry! Love the graphs, and thank you so much for collating all the info!

laura says
this is awesome, thanks!
is there a chart anywhere listing all the types of prime/magus/magister and the skills associated with them? like what is sagittarius and what is venenata?
Moderator R says
Look at the most recent blog post, it will give some insight ????.
Very simplistically because my brain is on vacation today, Magus Sagittarius is the sharpshooter or weapon aim enhanced talent; the Venenatas are Poison mages, they can create it, detect it or purify it.
Hope this helps ????
Eva says
Mod R, you TOTALLY ROCK! Infinite Thank yous!!!
Travis says
Honestly, I still want Arabella to choose someone that is a match for her and thinking the most entertaining option is a Madero. I was saying it could be one that is being hidden because he is small and thin… Something like that.
Dorothy E Sizemore says
Oh my gods what if it’s Bug?
Dorothy E Sizemore says
Quick question for the group. Is the pediatrician that has been mentioned as also being immunes to Catalina a male or female? It would make sense to having an immunity to it because he was one.
Moderator R says
Ilona answered this on another occasion, I think probably a Q&A 🙂 . The paediatrician is a woman and she has immunity to Catalina’s power because she takes her Hippocratic oath very seriously and her utmost wish is to treat her patients. No magic can overwhelm that and nothing would make her betray a patient’s confidentiality.
In my mind I put her in the same category as Lenora with justice- it is her absolute god. Even Primes know she can stand up to them because she puts it above everything.
RogueWREN says
Mod R that was some SERIOUS work you did! Go have a cookie or maybe some yummy chocolate!???????? I think I would have needed multiple valium to even attempt something you had to piece together like a puzzle ????
Thanks House Andrews for lots of fun even in the re-reads!
Omar Mtz says
This post made me want to go back and read the series, and as I started to read Sapphire Flames, question pop up, who Catalina’s pediatrician?
Anzbecks says
This is awesome! Apart from from being the last arrow in my queer hopes for Arabella…
