This is not a legitimate listing. It is fraudulent. Your money is going to a pirate. The recording is of bad quality and sounds like it might be read by an AI. If you got scammed, I strongly urge you to return your copies for a refund. We will try to get refunds for you when we get this taken down, but I don’t know how long it will take. This is a really tense moment, because we really don’t want you to be taken advantage of and we are trying our best.

Thanks for the warning. Do you know if it’s just Amazon and Audible that has this fraudulent recording? I know Barnes and Noble have audiobooks on their site, but not sure of this recording since I do not buy audiobooks.

B&N and Kobo not affected. As of now, it’s only on Amazon/Audible, but the House Andrews’ agency is doing due diligence.
Saw it on Amazon Germany, but couldn’t report as I didn’t buy it. Have mentioned fraud in review though.
Please do not write bad reviews for the book- on Amazon these are aggregated for all the formats, which means it negatively affects the print and ebook versions of Small Magics and the authors.

Every time I try to buy and download the Kindle version of Small Magics from Amazon, I get the earlier version that does not include the new stuff. So I return it for a refund, and have quit trying to get it.

As for the epub, I have just today seen a response from Amazon advising that they have once again pushed the updated file to everyone who have purchased it:

My automatic book updates were NOT on (I don’t like letting my books change without my knowledge), but I was able to go into “My Content and Devices” on Amazon, search for Small Magics, and hit the update button manually. Hope this helps!
Mod R: I went to Amazon and got the so-called updated content. Small Magics in kindle on my iPad is still missing the new stuff. I tried deleting and reloading- didn’t help. I rechecked on Amazon’s page and it indicates no new content for Small Magics.
Admittedly, I got distracted rereading some of what is there. Am I correct in thinking that there should be the texting/IMing exchanges(Conlan flushes an orange)?

Since Small Magics is being done by Graphic Audio this is especially awful. Love the short stories after the main book. Checking every day for Magic Burns CDs!!! And I only buy Innkeeper and Kate audio books off of GA, even though I love eBay more than life.
Also, will Andrea and Dali books be in the Kate deal or is that separate? Sorry about the trouble, but thank you for your fabulous work!!!
At the moment, it’s only the main Kate series and Small Magics, none of the companion books are part of the GA agreement 🙂

I sent in a review as pirated audiobook. No telling if Amazon will actually post it or not tho. Keeping fingers crossed.
Just throwing this out, undoubtedly very bad timing, ignore if too much stress! What are the chances of getting an audiobook at some point? I would certainly buy it and any of the older novellas as well. I do realize how expensive making them is even as I ask.

The reviews for all formats of a book are aggregated on Amazon, what you are achieving is lowering the rating of Small Magics.
As per the post, the paperback and ebook are legitimate. The only action required is from the people who have already purchased the pirated audio copy.
Would it be appropriate to do a ***** good review for the book, saying what you love about it, but also include a warning in the text about the pirated Audible version? Just copy the text from this blog about getting a refund; not necessary to warn future buyers because Amazon has taken it dow. It might help those who may have already bought it, but not part of the BDH.
This sounds like a sue the heck out of Amazon for ruining your good name issue. How did someone even manage to link themselves to the official book with what must be blatantly false credentials? Pretty outrageous.

I’ve looked on Amazon & audible and it may be because I’m using my phone but I can’t figure out how to report the fraud. Can anyone give me instructions on how to do it? I assume the more of us report it then hopefully the faster Amazon will act so I want to help if I can.

Ignore my question about reporting, I just read the replies and found out you can only report if you purchased the book. I won’t give the scammers more money even temporarily as we don’t want to encourage them.

You should be able to check your Audible order history even though the book was removed- the “release” was 2nd of June, last Friday.

I just got it gifted to me on audible. I did find a weird that there wasn’t an announcement on your website saying that we would get a new audiobook but I just thought you didn’t know when it would drop not that it was made by a pirate. =/ I wish I could return it, but as it was gifted by audible there is no refund possible.. Should I leave a comment saying that it’s fraudulent and should not be purchased ? That’s the least I could do as I can’t be refunded.
No, please do not write a review. This negatively affects all the formats of the book, including legitimate ebook and print and hurts the authors.

If you are gifted an audible you don’t want, you can usually return the book for a credit. I just can’t remember how. But I am 95% sure I have done it in the past.
I found a pirated copy of one of Patricia Briggs books on Amazon a few years ago. Easy to spot if you noticed the file size was small and it was listed as something like 30 pages. I reported it to Amazon, and they were less than helpful, so I reported it to her assistant who jumped on it and told me it took a while but it was taken down. Amazon had a bad, bad problem with this mess.

I think somehow I never saw this one lol I think because you guys normally let us know when something is dropping so I see it and buy it and don’t troll the stores anymore 🤣🤣 you have me well trained! I’ll still look at print stores but audible is normally at the same time and I bet these slime balls set it after everyone got the book. wow that’s really skeezy to rip off hard working Authors and Voice Actors.

I didn’t purchase it, but I did send a help email through Audible. I got a response late last night from a customer service rep saying that the title had already been reported by another party and that ACX is in the process of removing it from sale.

its true that they should not have done it, but i must confess that i want very much for there to be an authentic audible version of small magics. i listen to your audio versions of your books all the time while i craft or work on other things. its a little frustrating that this title is unavailable.

Thank you I was able to get. Refund back to my credit card i should have realized it was way to good to be true when I saw no post for this. But I was so excited and now I’m a Little upset with the audible customer service when I called and explained I know that credit card purchases are no longer refunded due to new policies put into place, but I was told by the authors that this Small Magic is pirated. She is like well we don’t normally give a credit but as a courtesy we will do it this one time? I found that offensive that she considered returning my money for a pirated copy a courtesy when they should have verified the legitimacy of the audible before posting it and I have spent thousands on audible and have never returned books even ones I hated for her to act like returning a measly 10.00 was a courtesy pissed me off. So I went off on her saying I love this author and have spent thousands on your website for not just this author but others and have never complained but the one time I am asking for a credit for a pirates book I get a snarky I’m doing this as a courtesy pisses me off I told her to look at my purchase history. Hope others have a better experience with amazon

I bought so many of your books last week from Audible, to fill out my collection I couldn’t afford Small Magics. It was tempting but I’d rather have the full books than many shorts I’ve read so I didn’t buy it.
It seems Audible has pulled it down. I searched for it and it’s been removed.
I tried to return it but couldn’t because early this morning I paused my membership. So I decided even if I couldn’t report it by returning it, I could at least add my voice to the chorus of reporting fraud, but both audible and Amazon hung up on me.
I didn’t get your email announcing the problem until today – which is normal. What isn’t normal lately is even if the email comes a day late, that’s the first time I can see it on the list of blog posts (which I check several times a day). Even yesterday. I imagine this is because you’re working on the site – at least I hope that’s the case.
