Ilona Andrews App – this is a book-journaling style app that’s being beta tested right now. It lists our series, presents blog posts, has quotes, progress rewards, etc.

Wanderer Chronicles: Out Of Orbit – this is a farming sim video game set in the Innkeeper universe that is developed by Dizzy Hill.

The App

Why do we need the app?

It’s a fun way to keep up with your reading progress. It will have quizzes, lots of worldbuilding stuff, some free fiction, and most importantly, it will pick up our news, so you won’t have to worry about missing a release or a giveaway.

What information does the app store?

The app is stored locally on your phone. We don’t really keep any of your information. You are not logging into an online server or anything like that.

Are there in-app purchases?

No. The app links to our book and merch store, but you have to make your purchases online, separately of the app environment.

When is it available?

September. It is free and it will be implemented on iPhones first. If the demand is there, we will invest in the Android version as well. The initial launch version concentrates heavily on Maggie’s world, because we used it as our test case, but we will be adding Encyclopedia sections for Innkeeper, Hidden Legacy, KD, etc. as we go along.

What is the game about?

You crash land on a planet and end up running an inn. Due to plot reasons, it won’t be a full inn experience. This inn has less powers than Gertrude Hunt, but it will allow you to make specific rooms to attract guests. You will grow crops, harvest timber, mine ore, salvage space wrecks for parts, etc.

When is it available?

The game is a long way off. We expect at least 2 years until Early Access/ Beta Testing.

Which species appear in the game?

The game will have a mix of familiar species like the Otrokar, the Vampires, and the lees, but will also feature original species, not mentioned in the books. Some characters from the Innkeeper Chronicles might make cameos.

Giveaway

Because the Innkeeper Universe is so large, Dizzy Hill would like to know which of the alien guests you would like to see.

To enter, leave us a comment on this blog post and tell us what is your favorite species and why they should get a spot in the game.

Winner will be chosen at random and will win a $100 private shopping spree at our store. We will even resurrect the old Innkeeper designs for you like the Dushegub tote on request.

The giveaway is open to international readers with the caveat that not all items might be available. Winner will be chosen on September 4th.

  4. Are the vampires a given? Because yum, intergalactic vampires. 🧛‍♂️ If they’re a given, then the shape changing Shih-Tzus like Beast are a must. 😀

    • Agree! The Vamps NEED to be included, and not really an Inn without Beast or Beast-like character popping up.

  6. The Koo-ko! Not actually sure if they’re my favorite (who can pick just one?), but I really feel like the game needs philosophical space chickens! 😆

  7. There are so many to choose from! It I’m going to have to go with the Lees. I just love everything about them. The moment when grandmother Lee stepped off the pillow and everylee gasped was so real to me.

  8. Merchant Lees. Bartering for supplies or favors would be fun. Especially if you have to lure different clans with different treasures.

  11. Hard to pick just one, but it would have to be the Lees. All that cuteness in one furry, deadly package.

    • I agree ^ I couldn’t have said it better myself. Lees’ are so cute. They also know the power of their own cuteness and how to leverage it to get what they want.

  12. Definitely the Lee’s. Also Orro, because I have a hard time picturing him in my mind. All three werewolf forms… Who am I kidding, I want them all.

  15. I would also say Quillonians for the drama potential. Admittedly most of the species bring the drama in their own way but Orro takes it up a notch.

    If Quillonians are tough (all those quills!) to put in the app, I would pick the vampires. They are firm in their arrogance and superiority but give them a shot of espresso and that all goes out the window. Probably can’t have them running around in the buff for obvious reasons but they’d still be entertaining drunks.

  21. Gaheas – what happened to their civil revolution? then again, Barsa, Barsa, Barsa. . . Muckrats! They seem to be hilarious and would definitely be agents of chaos. I love that about them.

  22. Dushegubs, Space chickens, and I don’t remember the name of the fish from the last book out, but them as well. I want the fin dances man!

  24. I’m guessing werewolves are a given, but the idea of the skill and technological advancement needed to create alpha strain werewolves is fascinating.

  26. Quillonians! Fire! I love Orro. Also, I can assure you, the interest from Android users is there. I am one of them and am extremely interested.

  27. I think the Otrakar are fascinating because from a writing and game design stand, they offer so many options because of the way they specialize!

  29. Orro the Quillonian was fascinating to read about. I’d love to see more of them interacting. Not that I can knock any of the other characters. I own all the books and they inspired me to try the graphic audios. I’ve never cared for audios before but the narrators were superb. No boring monotone here! That southern accent grabbed me first thing. You got me through a long, lonely, pain filled recovery from stage 4 cancer of the mandible and I am grateful.

    • Hang in there. Ilona Andrews has done so much for me in my own cancer journey. I need a species that only has energy for a couple of hours a day and for the rest has to sleep or rest. Maybe that is the Dushbugs? I feel like they very much represent my mood sometimes. Maybe I should show them to my long suffering husband. He he.

    • There are so many times when I went back to my Ilona Andrews books and they got me through whatever **it storm I was currently navigating. Not cancer though! Just my “family” and what was happening there. I too vote for Orro the Quilllonian for a character in this project and look forward to seeing/playing it on whatever platform it lands. Be Well Pamela and Good Luck with the cancer. Hopefully it has been stomped into the ground.

  32. Lees but I have to say space chickens are a close second. Have to have merchants to sell crops and other crafted goods to.

  35. You have the main species and cameos by characters from the Innkeeper universe appearing, so surprise us.

  37. The Hiru! I always picture them looking and moving like the Mondoshawans. The duck looking robots from the 5th element.

  41. My initial response would be Quillonians – because every in eventually needs a chef to attract more guests and obviously while they can’t compare with Orro – a chef is a necessity- but then I realized that they have every type of occupation and other species could have chefs as well.

    So I’m thinking it must be Lees because there are many many merchants and having a merchant you could go to as a way of trading items or finding what you need seems like a really clever thing to include in a game like this

  44. Dushegubs…the portrayals of wise, gentle trees already abound …we need some violent, blood-thirsty trees to balance it out!

    Also I like that the announce their speech with its purpose, and generously invite feedback after, so very thoughtful of them.

  45. Not a very original response, but yeah, the Kooko. I mean, trying to keep order during a debate and keeping everyone alive would be a cool minigame! Though perhaps also quite stressful 🙈

    • 2nd for Caldenia, or someone like her. Every Innkeeper needs wise if a bit bloodthirsty advice from a deposed ruler. Also the Merchant Lees and Quillonians and Kookos, if multiple votes count.

      And yes to Android please! I’m not much of a gamer, but I’d buy this game if only to impress my grandkids 😉

  53. I love the space chickens. I forget their official name. But I love them because I’ve grown up around and raised earth chickens my entire life and they’re such interesting creatures.

  54. I love the Lees!!! They are so cute and deadly and mischievous! All the best things in life. They are my spirit character! Ppl will adore playing a crafty cute character who swindles and wheels and deals and occasionally assassinates to accomplish the mission.

    Also the Kokoos are awesome cause I mean come on…. space chickens?!?! Philosophy nut space chickens?!!!! What’s not to love about that?!!!

  59. I would love to see the Hiru. I’m still not sure my imagination did them any justice – their room, their appearance in suits, or at the end when they fully revealed themselves. They would likely make a great end-game type of guest too for the game because they are so difficult to accommodate.

    The Lees are super fun, and so was the fish (sorry I forget the species name – competed in the marriage mart spectacle).

    kookos, space chickens
    vampires, the Innkeeper world vampires are unique and very cool
    quillonians, the drama would never end
    lees, cute fluffy and merciless

  67. My favorite are the Lees. There are so many unexplored stories there that would be doing for one-off stories.

    Second choice: the Dominion/Seven Star Supremacy. Caldaneia (sp?) is my favorite character. .

  71. The Lees. They look so little and cute, but are shrewd. From one branch, all your money will be gone. From another, they will shred you before you know why. They have it all, and they now have crossed worlds.

  73. 1. Oooh, the Kookoo would suit the game well as a farming sim – they know all the stuff necessary.

      Muckrats would be great fun but I’m voting for the martial society where Sophie ends up queen. Or the magical people from Green Mountain. the name is currently escaping me. they came for Treaty stay?

  74. Vampires and Otrokars especially Karat and Dagorkun. Their reservations got messed up and ending up at the Inn on the same day.

  78. The Ku!!! They are such chaos. I think babysitting a Ku would be awful in real life but fun in an in game way. They would create so much unintentional conflict. I love Wing.

  79. Oh, this is hard — but I’m going with #TeamSpaceChicken. Of course, part of me thinks, how can I answer this question without a re-read? Perhaps I’ve forgotten something? 🙂

    I’ll chime in on Android if you’re keeping track of demand. Will the iOS version just be iPhone or will it work with the iPad? I know sometimes iOS apps don’t work with both.

  81. The Lees are my favorite species, but if they’re a given then I’d love to see Quillonians! Mangoes as a an incredibly valuable barter?

  103. Quillonians are the best for max drama and would be perfect for setting up a fetch quest involving mangoes, naturally. Their characters also seem ideal for a NPC spouting entertaining nonsense. Muckrats are a close second for max chaos.

  111. This is a hard choice to make. Sean Evans and the Auul wolves. Why should he be in the game? Even though Sean pees on the apple trees, he defends the Inn with Dina.

  117. From a game plot standpoint I’ll put in a vote for the Hope-Crushing Horde. You could make a fast friend or a dedicated enemy depending on which group visits.

  119. Oh, I can’t imagine this game moving forward without the Lees. They are so versatile, clever, and they can smooth or complicate any situation. They’re adorable paws (and claws) are everywhere!!

  133. The lees are an obvious choice, and my favorite <3. They are easily underestimated with fluffy cuteness, will provide challenges in being able to accommodate them as guests and give opportunity for trades for the farm sim part.

    Under that sweet and cute appearance are ruthless merchants who hold a vital part of the galactic economy, not to mention information gathering. Like all merchants, negotiating is second to none with them, and they always have an ulterior motive.
    But they have a big heart and a soft spot for Dinah.

    Barca is fun to say, but will it translate well into the game.

  147. The sphinx! With the deadly riddle challenges. The wings you don’t want to see. And also the young ones that disappoint their instructors by venturing out too soon and running through classic strings of riddles.

    Second would definitely be the lees, though. Especially since we see the merchant clans in one series and a much more martial example that looks down on such “soft” examples in The Inheritance.

  162. I am voting for the Lees. They are cute but also diabolical and ruthless. I can foresee so many instances in a game where you meet one and then have to watch getting scammed or taken advantage of while you are distracted by their cuteness. You could also make deals and work with them in mutual beneficial ways. So many in game possibilities with that!

  185. Vampires are my favourite – always lots of shield-banging warlike posturing and challenges, but also make choices based on honour. Could create lots of interesting Vampire House banners. Also adore Dushegubs who could add an interesting blocking challenge to the game requiring constant monitoring.

  186. The Lees! They are crafty, super fluffy, & made of many clans all with their own strengths. And they seem to be able to space/dimension travel as evidenced by the Lee in The Inheritance which brings many interesting possibilities.

  195. It’s gotta be the philosopher space chickens! I love the argument and discussion, and, living with parrots, i know that birds all have strongly held opinions and are not above sharing them loudly.

  196. Metamoth (sp?) – Keeping them from hunting other guests could create interesting challenges.
    Ku – I feel we’ve only scratched the surface with these guys. Besides, the Metamoth has to have something to chase.

  203. My vote goes to the Drífen. They are one of the treaty signatories, so one of the early visitors to earth. They are mysterious and have lot of magic.

  204. I have to admit I wouldn’t mind seeing some of the unfamiliar Vampire and Lees families, and yes the Quillonians and the Koo. Maybe some of the original (non alpha strain) werewolves, and some residents of the Dominion too.
    I still think the Dushegubs would be funny to include, although maybe too much trouble 🤣

  208. I think the koo ko would be both entertaining and informative in the game. Fun guests would be the ku and the muskrats. Just for the chaos and laughs! And maybe the Barsa, too. Lots of fun there!

  213. The Inns are their own character, and I’d like to see them be a character. I love all the characters, but getting to “be” an Inn is an interesting idea.

  226. I’m reading the comments and finding lots of mentions of vampires, lees and Orro, all of whom I would love to visit again. But there have to be werewolves, too! Sean was the first HA hero I fell in love with and I cannot imagine an Inn without the possibility of werewolves!

    Impractical option: a spinx (I don’t know if they’re banned from Earth as well as Baha-char but seems likely, but the riddles would be so fun as a mini game!)

      I think they’re incredible interesting as a species. We only ever really got to see cyanide as a candidate and that was out maneuvering the lees and Clan Cy. A good representation of their cunning. But Cyanide didn’t really care about the event because she was there for machination purposes only. I would love to know more about their species and see them in a position showing more either on a mission/task of some sort or actual vacation.

    I hope I’m remembering this correctly from the book, but because I’m a textiles person and avid cat lover, I want kitties such as the vain sentient one that you have to brush and who makes those mental net things by kneading “biscuits.” I would also love a cameo of those huge red leopard things from The Inheritance.

    A framed photo of Bear on the wall would be a great Easter egg too. Pretty much any Easter egg crossovers from The Inheritance would be hilarious. It would also be fun if you could have one of those revenge priestesses as a helper sidekick. (sorry if I got any details wrong–I need to read some of the books again!)

They provide us with deathless prose: “Chichi-chichi!” They resemble “weasels who walk upright and developed monkey hands.” And, in an example of elevated situational humor, they deprive Sean of his joyful use of the infamous fart gun. Muckrats could be featured in unexpected and silly vignettes throughout, with or without left sneakers, leather kilts and Spanish doubloons! Chiiiiiiii!

However, I can’t help but admire the efficiency, brutality, and cutthroat nature spanning multiple generations which yielded Caldenia and Kosandion.
