Hi everyone, Mod R here with a second post for today.

Double release today from Graphic Audio! Firstly, Sweep with Me, The Innkeeper Chronicles novella is live on the Graphic Audio app!

By tradition, the Innkeepers welcomed three guests: a warrior, a sage, and a pilgrim, but during the holiday, Innkeepers must open their doors to anyone who seeks lodging. Anyone. All Dina hopes is that the guests and conduct themselves in a polite manner. But what’s a holiday without at least one disaster?

As usual, there is a sample in the link above to help you decide, but Orro is the star of this in my humble opinion and deserves all the audiobook Oscars, if they exist!

The GA adaptations are released on the Graphic Audio app first, and then become available for other 3rd party retailers (such as Audible) and libraries about a month later: for Sweep with Me, this date will be the 1st of September 2022.

Today is also the day that the Sweep of the Blade GA adaptations lands on Audible, as per schedule. To help you distinguish between the GA and the “traditional” one narrator audiobooks, please look for the entry that has “Dramatized Adaptation” in the title. A reminder here that GA is a parallel project, and it will not be replacing the regular audiobook releases upon book publication.

For those who aren’t yet fans and might have some questions, Graphic Audio are full cast dramatic adaptations of the books, with each character being interpreted by a different actor. Think old timey radio dramas, with soundtrack and sound effects.

  7. Graphic Audio is amazing! Their Innkeeper lead me to other things they’ve done, such as Jig the Goblin which is hilarious.

    • Yay, so glad you like them! Dina’s actor (Nina Achrati, who is also the director) will also narrate Sweep of the Heart when it comes time for it’s release!

  11. I’ve just started reading, rather, listening to “Sweep with Me” from GA. I have all four now, and they are wonderful! The characters’ voices are well chosen. I never was too much of an audiobook fan, I’d rather read, but I got all IA books when they were on sale last month and I’m loving them! When they say a movie in your head, they mean it! Highly recommended.

  13. Wow, I listened to the samples and just love the dramatization! I checked out cloudLibrary to see if Clean Sweep was available to borrow and it was (New York Public Library). This is going to be a real treat to listen to! Thanks to all parties for making this series available via public library. It is much appreciated!

I’m loving the graphic audio (also love the regular audiobooks) but I find that sometimes it’s really hard to hear some of the dialog, especially when the speaker is supposed to be overheard or something like that. The volume goes in and out. Dina is always fine, but the other characters sometimes are lower volume. I was listening to them on my 14 hour drive for my move and I missed a lot with road noise.

  22. I missed the “Beauty and the Beast” scene, I wonder why this was cut out. Otherwise the editing was ok and shows how much work goes into these productions.

  23. Love, love love Graphic Audio versions! They really are “a movie in your mind”! I am really impressed by the acting, not just reading, of the parts and the sound effects.
    I would buy every IA book again on Graphic Audio. So I hope more deals are in the works!

  24. Off topic question: what were the illustrated webtoon looking previews I remember seeing a few months back? Were they promos for the Graphic Audio versions or is there a comic coming out at some point?

    Is there any good place for speculation/gossip about Ruby Fever with other fans? If someone hasn’t read the whole series, some of my questions/speculation would be spoilery. Anyone else shipping for Arabella and a certain Michael in the Record Keepers office…?

  31. I think there may be something wrong with my download. I’m 20 minutes into it and Maud and Hellen have already been reduced, but Dina has not received Maud’s message, and Armand has fought the World Killer and Maud is sitting vigil.

    Hope I’m the only one this happened to.

    Other than that this sounds awesome. Love it! What a great listen.

      I’m going to need a bit more help.

      Are you talking about the GA adaptation of One Fell Sweep?

      Did you download it from Audible or GA?

      Do you mean Dina receiving the message from the Ku in Chapter 1?

      Maud and Helen have been reduced- do you mean the roles abridged?

      Because of the constraints of the format itself, whereby the books are turned into scripts, the GA content is slightly abridged. I cannot remember of the top of my head but will relisten and let you know about Dina getting the message- as a ballpark, *if* you are talking about One Fell Sweep, your file should be 8 hours and 5 minutes long.

        I created an account at GraphicAudio yesterday. I purchased both Sweep of the Blade and Sweep with Me.

        I started with Sweep of the Blade. I was listening to it on the AG App on my iPad. The book starts with Maud killing the last guy who killed her husband. It then moved to the arbitrator offering to take a message back to Earth. Immediately after that Arland, Sean and Dina enter the place Maud and Helen are staying. Big fight ensues. Everyone jumps into ship, Sean takes off, and the every next thing is Arland stretched out on the table with Maud standing watch over Arland because he has just fought the World Killer and Maud hopes he doesn’t die. That’s in the first 40 minutes.

        Now, admittedly I haven’t listened to the Audible version for a couples weeks (I think it was May the last time I listened to it), but I don’t remember things moving along quite that fast.

        I really love this book, so I’m hoping this gets fixed quickly, and that this not happening to anyone else.

        • That sounds about right- I think maybe you’re thinking about the longer scene of rescue in One Fell Sweep? Told from Dina’s perspective?

          Sweep of the Blade starts with a recap “Then…”, which briefly recounts how Maud and Arland started and then proceeds with “Now”, Maud and Helen arriving on Daesyn, where our adventure begins.

          There is no mistake ????

  32. I pre-ordered Sweep with Me from Graphic Audio and read it the day it came out – yesterday (8/1/2022). Totally love it. I hope ALL of the IA books eventually do GraphicAudio. So much fun. And big thanks, as always, to the genius creativity of the Ilona and Gordon.

  33. I waited and waited for Sweep of the Blade to be on Audible, gave up and bought the GA version. I am planning on buying Sweep with me in a few. Yes I have the audible books for the GA version is so much better!!

  34. Just have enough time to share info for audiobook awards – so apologies if this has been previously posted. I wanted to let Mod R know that there is a pretty important audiobook award called the Audie Awards.
    They’re particularly influential with librarians who select audiobooks.

  36. Hi, I was looking at the GraphicAudio terms of use on their app again, and it says that in some cases, licensing may change and titles purchased may no longer be available. What’s the likelihood that that would happen with Innkeeper?

    I suppose it would be best to get the MP3 version to ensure we can keep listening even if that happens, but I live in a country where the exchange rate with the USD means the books are already very expensive, and even adding $2 is a significant amount…

      I cannot give you details of the intricacies of Graphic Audio’s legal agreements and contingency clauses as I have not seen them, but please do reach out to them on their contact form for more clarification https://graphicaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

      What I can however reassure is that House Andrews have a fabulous working relationship and have indeed licenced further works with them (hint in the recent Zoom event with Grace Draven here https://ilona-andrews.com/2022/chains-and-wips/ ) so permission for the Innkeeper adaptation isn’t likely to be in danger 🙂

      • Thanks! It’s reassuring to hear about the good relationship… I wasn’t sure about audiobooks at first, but I love them so much now, I would be very sad if I couldn’t hear George’s voice anymore! Here’s hoping to be able to enjoy them for years to come…

        I think I had better purchase the MP3 version when/if they do Sweep of the Heart, though – that’s going to be a voice bonanza 😀 (and think of the special effects!)

  37. I just finished listening to the audible version of ‚Swep of the blade ‚yesterday! So now reading this i downloaded the GA version. Going to finish listening to‘Indulgence in death‘ by JD Robb and will then directly listen to the GA version ????????????

  38. OK, I bought the graphic audio of “Sweep of the Blade” and I am confused. At times, Maude speaks with a US southern accent then suddenly a British accent.
