Good news from GraphicAudio!
The full-cast dramatized adaptation of BLOOD HEIR (Aurelia Ryder 1) is now available for preorder on the GraphicAudio website, with release currently scheduled for December 30th. Julie will step into Atlanta just as we step into 2027.
The preorder information has also already been sent to third-party retailers, so it should begin appearing on Audible, Hoopla, Google Play and the other places you usually get your GraphicAudio releases as their systems process it.
The script is so, so good, and there are several scenes I am *dying* to hear with full cast, music and sound effects doing their thing. If there’s a particular Blood Heir moment you’re especially excited about, tell me in the comments. When recording gets underway, I’ll keep your requests in mind and see what samples I can beg, borrow or otherwise ferret for the Horde in early December.

Meet the New Conlan
Following listener feedback after the GraphicAudio adaptation of Magic Tides was released in August, the role of Conlan has been recast, and the production was updated with a completely different performance of the role.
The new actor was selected after several auditions, has the blessing of House Andrews, and will continue as Conlan going forward – in Magic Claims, currently scheduled for release on November 13, and, of course, in Blood Heir. We are very grateful to director Nora Achrati and the GraphicAudio team for how quickly and thoughtfully they responded, and for working with Ilona throughout the recasting process.
The revised Magic Tides audio files were sent to stores and library platforms a week ago, so the replacement version should by now have reached everyone. If you already had Magic Tides downloaded and are still hearing the previous version, please try refreshing or resyncing your library first. Depending on your app, you may need to remove the downloaded file and download it again so it pulls the latest version from the retailer.
Thank you very much to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts about the original performance kindly and constructively. Casting children is particularly challenging, especially for material involving violence, adult dialogue and scenes that require parental approval, and we appreciate the consideration shown to a young performer while the issue was being addressed.
A small reminder about how these adaptations work: while Nora and the GraphicAudio team consult with House Andrews, and there is wonderful collaboration and mutual trust between them, GA are an independent company. They choose which books they wish to adapt and acquire the audio adaptation rights; House Andrews does not commission the productions or control their budgets, casting, schedules, or other business decisions.

Although somewhere in Atlanta, a very competent woman with opinions on purple shag carpet may disagree. I guess we’ll have to w*it and see… in spring 2027.

The new Conlan is great.
i loved the actors kate was great and conlan was highter than I had in my head but thats ok the music at the end was sadly very bad. kate was talking about child being kidnaped and the upbeat music not only cut of the imersion but the dissonance it was so great made ne feel weird.
Oh wait, what did we think of the other performance? I must have missed that conversation.
I don’t think it would be particularly helpful to do a post-mortem of the previous performance now.
The important thing is that GraphicAudio responded very promptly to reader feedback, the role was recast to House Andrews’ satisfaction, and the current version is the one going forward 🙂

I paused my Kate listens, hoping for a Gunmetal Magic GA adaptation, so this hint is very, very exciting!!! I’ll just have to go back to Innkeepers for now!
I contacted Graphic Audio and they said Gunmetal Magic will be published around March 2027.

Favorite scene is obviously the confrontation between Asciano, Derek et al. at the end, but that may be too spoilery. I’d also be interested in Stella, Julie and the war banner before the confrontation with Nick, or Julie springing her uncle from the casino. Or when Stella and Julie first meet Luther and he has Stella recite her poem/song.
I could keep going, but I shouldn’t.
Love the new Conlan. I didnt love the original, but this is even better. Also I feel like Andrea has gotten a short shrift so I’m here for the GA adaptation of purple carpet scene (its probably one of my favorite scenes in all of House Andrews books)

I like both versions of Conlan. In the first version, his accent surprised me but it made sense to me after realizing that even in my family, my generation’s accent differs from our parents’ generation. We were influenced by our peers while my parents learned English elsewhere.

I’m super appreciative of the new stories HA have delivered and yet still cranky for more Derek and Julie.
Scenes: +1 for phone call to Hugh, +1 for Luther and Stella and the “song”, Julie, Ascanio and the cookies; Julie Marten and the cookies. Basically any scene with cookies, or Derek.

I got the notification of the new performer recording last week. He is very good!
For some reason (leftover from radio days?) I thought the child parts were played by adults doing childlike voices. I can imagine how difficult it might be to have a child doing some of the perspective narration and acting lines! I always thought it must be hard on child actors to play in violent or verbally abusive movies.
I don’t think the last actor was terrible, I’ve heard worse from adult narrators, but this one is very good.
ANYWAY – Hurrah for Blood Oath in December! What a nice start to the new year! Or celebration of the year turning because you know we won’t be waiting a day once it downloads! Who needs fancy parties for New Years eve? We’ll have tea and Aurelia Ryder! Fingers crissed it comes out on the 30th!
What is the reference to spring about? Something else in the works or an oopsie?

I think Helen is voiced by a child. Although if adults can voice the Muppets (like Elmo), nothing is impossible, of course.

Will the same actors as in the original series be voicing their characters again in Blood Oath? I’m obviously talking about Julie, Derek, and Ascanio, as I know that Jon Vertullo reprised Hugh in Wilmington, so it makes sense that he will again in this one. And I would really be sad if Kelly Baskin, Robb Moreira, and Anthony Palmini aren’t reprising their respective characters.
As for Conlan, the new actor is amazing and does sound like more like Conlan’s actual age. I really like him! Thanks to HA and GA for the recast.

yay on the new preorder. I got an email from GA yesterday about it after reading the House Andrews mini update and snapped it right up.
I hadn’t seen any comments on the previous version of Magic tides. the previous voice actor did bring him to life, and the new actor does too..I guess I’ll hear the update when I next download and re-listen again.

I am thankful for GraphicAudio for being so responsive. I will now go ahead and purchase all of the books with the new Conlan in it. I’ve been refreshing my GraphicAudio and I can’t wait until I get the revised version.

I don’t remember why, but the original voice for Conan took me out of the story, if that makes any sense. The new voice is a much better fit. Had no idea they use child voice actors instead of adults. Wow! Kudos to Graphic Audio to listening to feedback and taking the time to recast such a large role. I’d love to hear the phone call with Hugh about the cow.

The scene I would be most stoked to hear a snippet of is our favorite wizard at large making Stella sing her song about staying out of his crime scene. OR the one where he recognizes Julie.
Another fav is when Marten just casually becomes an assassin’s apprentice like it’s no big deal.

While I love the Graphic Audio versions, they sometimes go a little overboard with the sound effects. The two I have a slight problem with have to do when someone “laughs” – which frequently sounds like a maniacal cackle, and with kissing scenes, which often sound like a bad pȯrnȯ sound track (I assume). These knock my overall ratings from 100% to 99.8%.
Looking forward to both Magic Clams — I mean Claims, and the unnamed ‘purple shag carpet’ novel.

I haven’t listened to the new version of conlan. It seemed a little odd, but I was okay with it. I just want the narration to be better going forward for graphic Audio’s Catalina’s series of Hidden legacy. Her books are my favorite ones of hidden legacy and the narration is so monotone 🙁 Everything else is fine.
When is the second Blood Heir coming out?

This is sooo exciting!!! 🤩🤩🤩 it would be so cool to hear snippet of Marten and Julie’s great uncle interupt the confrontation between Ascanio and Derek, and Marten marvels over how easily the old man stalled the confrontation and she says something along the lines of how he can steal all their things… and then one of the boudha insult the old man, and he goes to fight the boudha while Julie is kinda panicking and saying do not kill!!! Only incapacitate.
There was just something I find so amusing about this scene cause Julie is trying to keep her cool but things are escalating out of her control. And I just love how Derek gets to see her at her less than perfect 😏😏😏😏 less princess and more like maybe her old self before she left Atlanta. Not sure if I phrased that right 😅😂
