The dramatized adaptation of White Hot, the second novel in the Hidden Legacy series, will be released September 12 by Graphic Audio.

As usual, the Records Keeper has snuck us a few tasty exclusive samples ahead of time. Hasn’t he, Michael?
Leon-narration sweeps the BDH nation!
A mysterious stranger approaches Nevada at the ball:
And that’s all.
No other sample.
Just these two.
What’s that? There’s a particular scene in White Hot that’s, oh, I don’t know, universally beloved? A certain fan-favorite moment that BDH listeners have been not-so-p*tiently w*iting for in full cast, sound-effected glory? Well goodness, that’s brand new information to me. Couldn’t possibly imagine what you mean…
Ok, ok, I can’t keep up the act hehe.
FERRET and I cannot emphasise this enough HEEEEIST:
You get a ferret, you get a ferret, we all get a Chinese ferret-badger!
Megan and her team (plus beasties) will be adapting all seven books in the Hidden Legacy series: Nevada’s trilogy, the Diamond Fire transition novella, and Catalina’s trilogy. They will also include the bonus unpublished Arabella POV blog exclusives: A Misunderstanding and The Cool Aunt. Some of these releases will overlap with Nora’s adaptations of Wilmington Years and Blood Heir, coming in the first half of next year from Graphic Audio.
A quick reminder: Graphic Audio adaptations aren’t commissioned by authors. GA are an independent company who decide which books they’d like to adapt and approach authors for the rights to those works. House Andrews are more than happy to grant the rights, provide insight on canon, pronunciation guides, and makes sure fan-favorite scenes are spotlighted, but all creative, casting and business decisions belong to GA.
Also important: these adaptations will never replace the unabridged, traditional narrator audiobooks released through the publishers or self-published by the authors themselves. Think of them as cousins. One version is your cozy audiobook companion, the other is a full-cast, music-and-sound-effect cinematic experience. GA’s tagline is “A movie in your mind!” and most of us will agree they deliver.
I have covered in more detail how to purchase on the GA app in this post, which you can also supplement with the Graphic Audio Help FAQ on their website. The books should be available for your libraries, as well as major retailers like Audible, Hoopla and Chirp.
Happy listening and may your ferrets be ever stealthy!
First?
Certified 🙂
Omg, what a cute kitty!
LOVE the Ferret heist!! And stunning the two know-it-all arrogant men!
In the not quiet words of Monty Python -No one ever expected a ferret heists !
FERREETTTT HEEIIISTT!! Loved the samples thank you!
The samples are great! I’m really tempted to get the GA version even though I tried listening to audiobooks before, but I couldn’t focus and finish them!
I love all formats but, to quote Lady Wexyn, I love GA the most – they’re my favorite. However, my mind wanders off if just sit and listen to a book. Listening while working on projects I can do on auto-pilot, like gardening and laundry, or while working on a sudoku or jigsaw puzzle (something that uses a different part of my brain) helps me focus!
I can only listen to audiobooks if I’ve read the book before. When I inevitably get distracted and come back later, I more or less know what’s going on. And I also have to be doing something else.
Same! I love listening to audiobooks, but because I tend to drift away mentally, it has to be something I have already read, so I don’t miss any important revelations, context, reveals, etc. I also like to listen while I cook, or do embroidery, fold laundry, or play solitaire – simple, repetitive, low-decision tasks to keep me in the moment. I got a waterproof speaker so I can listen while I shower, too!
I think of the Ferret Heist every time I do laundry….seriously!
🤣🤣🤣
How delightful! I have some trips coming up, graphic audio is great for long drives.
that’s what I try to save mine for, but I often re-liayen to them in an episodic format on my regular commutes to and from work.
Omg, this is the BEST!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!
😀 😀 😀
Thank you! That was an awesome start to the long weekend!
Oh, I love this so much!! Ferrets forever!
Leon reminded me of the stoner kid in the movie Dogma (I think he’s the Jay in the Jay and Silent Bob movies, too).
The actor sounded like he had a lot of fun. I bet he’s hoping Leon gets his own series, too. 😛
Jay and Silent Bob were in Dogma 🙂
This should be great. Just finished reading Magic Claims. Enjoyable. Quick question: Why doesn’t Kate have a daughter? Should be interesting.
She does 🙂
They’re focusing all their parental attention on Conlan right now. They are immortal. They will have their next child after Curran becomes more independant. I could imagine a new baby when he is 16-18.
I want them to have ALL the babies! Roland’s raging case of terminal narcissism made him such a terrible parent that someone needs to exemplify for him that he has always been The Problem. It would be good for him.
Give him several centuries of examples and he might accrue the wisdom to begin to start to develop into an almost halfway-decent human being.
I would count Julie as their daughter.
Oh I did enjoy the ferrets! Thanks! And I may have to get the one with the Arabella shorts, that would be cool to listen to.
I can’t stop smiling listening to the heist! Thank you!
Loved the samples and thanks for touching on future GA projects. Iron Covenant I is noticeably absent. Someday? And if Kate has a daughter, then Wilmington 3 release is tentatively, secretly, slated for…end of 2025? Too much to hope for?
I think they are referring to Julie as Kate’s daughter….
Yeah. They could also be referring to Julie’s eventual sister Sienna saw in Blood Heir.
Usually only read instead of comment, but these excerpts made my day, when everything else was dreary and rainy. Thanks!
Oh. My. Gosh! All three GA’s samples are hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Definitely need to pre-order this.
Long live ferrets and their animal mages!
I just checked my GA account. I already pre-ordered White Hot. Sheesh. I’m very definitely part of the BDH. 😀
haha same here! I was so excited that i nearly missed the “purchased” flag on the GA website and put it in my cart!
the numver of times I’ve gone on to their site to make a purchase after a blog post drops, only to find I’ve already purchased it too 😄
I keep asking them if they will consider adapting gun metal magic. I think we might need a few more of the bhd to say how brilliant that book is for them to go for it. it’s needed to explain how Andrea gets engaged in the jump between books in the KDW.
Oh my gosh the hideous purple shag carpet scene is hilarious. The plates?! The toilet paper holder?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’d sign that petition. It feels like there is a chunk missing from their comprehensive adaptation without it.
Yessssss!!! Finally someone who sees how needed Andrea’s story is!!! I’ll sign the petition!
oh my! currently relistening to HL and have already got Burn for me. can’t wait for the rest. I love all versions of Kate Daniels and am looking forward to having (eventually) both versions of all the IA series 🥰😘
😍😍😍😍😍😍 yay!!!!! so excited! tyvm
YESSSS. I was hoping this was part 2 of the Hidden Legacy news! I love having the short wait before it drops too, now I only have to wait 2 weeks!
Must wait.
Can not wait.
Must wait.
Adversity makes us stronger. Hold the line!
Woo hoo!
Someone check on Steve and make sure he doesn’t get any ideas. Can he handle the Graphic Audio ferret heist?
He might feint or decide he needs to go with the ferrets.
the ferrets having to find a new extraction point after Steve gets stuck up to his shoulder in the opening after the honey badger attempted to extract him by head ramming his shoulder and not getting anywhere….Steve can’t take him anywhere 😕
Yay ferret heist!! But not the voices I hear when I read. I like “my” Cornelius better. Rogan and Augustine are good, though. 📚
I just listened to GA’s Burn for Me, and was hoping White Hot was available!
Happiness!
I love Leon! 😍
Ditto! As much as I love the ferret heist, Leon’s narration puts me on the floor every time. “my biceps have teeth” bwahahahaha
“my teeth have biceps” oh, my. laughing so hard!
I laughed so hard listening to Leon. The actor who plays Leon did a great job.
Love these snippets! Ferret heist!! ♡♡♡
Delighted and can’t wait for the new GA edition. Yay!
Really impressed with what Graphic Audio has been doing with our beloved House Andrews stories.
this is my absolute favourite series of yours, thank you for writing such amazing books. i also adore graphic audio so much that my library includes all the fourth wing and now all the mercy thompson series – and love devon monks series too….oh i could go on and on but the most listened to are the inkeeper – on repeat all the time and i still shudder grin and groan afresh each listen
I know,
I love GA books as well… turns out they keep me way more engaged than traditional audiobooks. However, I only purchase my favorite authors as I could easily break the bank 🙈. So all the books from our esteemed AuthorLords I have or pre order.
Des anyone know if I can borrow GraphicAudio books, either from a public library or elsewhere?
I love traditional unabridged audiobooks and I thought I hated GA audiobooks. Turns out I only hate them when they are the ONLY version of audiobook available.
I think traditional audiobooks are very much like reading the book— nothing could ever be as good and nothing could ever replace that, BUT I really love enjoying my favorite stories in a new way with the GA “movie in your mind” version, too.
I happily own both versions of House Andrews stories and I still do traditional rereads with regular audiobooks at least once a year, but now I can have a little side journey with the GA books, too.
+1
So happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Already preordered
Yay!!!! FERRET HEIST!!! 😆 Already preodered months ago and chalantly waiting. Thank you for the preview. 💕
Wilmington Years!!!!
Leon narration has me rolling on the floor. It is amazing and SOOOO perfect!
Me, too! brilliant narration of the “narration”. Heehee.
You know I’m not into audio books unless I’m on a long drive. Leon’s part may have changed my mind. Very laugh out loud funny. Reading it was great. This was great too!
::doing Snoopy dance:: Ferrets!! And confirmation that all HL books and shorts will be adapted!! Woo hoo!
Eagerly awaiting the drop! The samples were wonderful, per their usual, and thank you so much for sharing! 🤗
In regards to them doing all the books, this was their reply when I suggested The Inheritance as a possible adaptation for them: “Thanks for the great suggestion! We’d love to produce every title from Ilona Andrews someday…”. It’s very encouraging!
I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!! I can’t wait to read them all with my ears!!
These samples were great! They really brightened my Friday, so thank you!!
On an unrelated note, Mod R, I was looking for the link for the latest Q&A, but couldn’t find it anymore. Where can I find it now?
The Zoom post has been archived 🙂
Loveeeeee it all, can’t wait! I love the GA versions so much, having yet another way to absorb HL makes me so happy ❤️❤️
Yeeessssssss! I adore Graphic Audio and am so excited!!!!
So adorable!! Thank you !!! Pre-ordered!!
Devoted member of the BDH morosely reading today’s post. I was really hoping the announcement would be Arabella’s trilogy coming soon!
Keep the faith.
I also pray, because God is good. If He sends the muse, as it were, we’ll get the story. Right now the muse is focused on Maggie, but I firmly believe that He won’t just leave us hanging with Arabella or Hugh or Panthercakes or Penjiro. He just has to let things finish percolating before He delivers the stories to House Andrews for us.
Anyone know what’s happened to the inheritance zoom party? I started watching up but now it seems to have disappeared.
The video has been archived 🙂
Awesome! So fun to listen to. The background music in the ferret caper is delightful. Heehee.
Thank you, mod R!
I’ve had a rough week. Thank you so much for the Leon Snippet!
OMG, thank you for the audio snippet of my favorite part. I know it was not feasible (because copyright) but I wish the theme from Mission Impossible was somewhere in the background.
I agree. I start hearing it in the back of my mind when I read or listen to that part. 😁
yaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Chalantly looking forward to the 12th
GA does a great job, but I still can’t hear Rogan in the actor voicing him. He sounds like he’s 16, not a war hardened vet.
Love love love the series!
Thanks for the samples!! I’ve been looking forward to this since I pre-ordered it ages ago. GA never disappoints!
I am obsessed with Graphic Audio thanks to House Andrews! It is all I listen to now. Especially since I canceled Audible (due to all the BS going on with it). I’ve found so many authors through Graphic Audio’s website! The actors and production are amazing! I can’t wait for The Wilmington Years and Blood Heir.
Sooo happy. Soooo excited. Thank you HA, Mod R and Graphic Audio.
I love GA, and have both traditional and GA versions of all IA series. I’ve worn out my GA Innkeeper audios! Kate Daniels too! But you know what? I think Renee Reedman’s phrasing and interpretation of characters takes the prize on Hidden Legacy. Her interpretation of the Bug stands out, as well as Leon. And Nevada’s character seems to have a better level of maturity.
I concur…and I like her Rogan better, too. My appreciation for Renee Raudman has only increased. What she accomplishes using only one/her voice is truly impressive! I prefer it. But I AM re-listening to GA’s Innkeeper Chronicles for the upteenth time. They are some of my favorites, too! I’m currently listening to Sweep in Peace and trying to figure out if Dagorkun is voiced by the actor who plays Xaden Riorson in 4th Wing. Something about them sounds similar.
I do love the ferret heist, but it’s Leon that makes me laugh with tears streaming. Does that mean I’m disturbed? But OMG soooo funny!
I have to wait until they are all out, so that I can immerse myself in that world from start to finish.
Hi, can you clarify that there are usually two audio versions, one by the publishers and one by the Graphic Audio group? I have tried very hard to listen to the GA but can’t do it. My eyesight has been damaged because of the big C crap. Audio works great for me but I with the GA, it’s too chaotic. If this is correct, then I will pester my library to get the publisher versions. Thanks!
GA is never the first audio publication. They sort of do homage editions with lots of audio frills. There should always be a prior version. I have noticed that audiobooks tend to go away at my library, so yours may have dropped the first versions when the GA version came out. You should be able to get them through an interlibrary loan with your local librarians assistance. Best of luck!
Yes, as the article says, there is a traditional audiobook and for some of the books, also the dramatized (Graphic Audio) version 🙂
Buy them all! I just have one question. Why did they give Rogan a tenor voice. I mean, he’s not as growly as Curran, but he is as growly as a hurricane.
The only 2 samples that could’ve made this better is Nevada’s smack down of Augustine from when they were planning the heist. And Nevada calling David a wart.
The Leon narration is the best!! 😂
Ah the famous Ferret Heist – I just love the scene. It’s amusing how both Connor and Augustine are non-believing Peter turning into believers XD.
Cornelius Harrison? Significant my butt…(or something like that XD)
Merch! Bursa bursa BURSA!!
“May your ferrets be ever stealthy “
Could we please get out-take samples like we did for KD?
They are great to listen too when driving the car a great distance!
OMG!.!.! Great job on Leon!
Love it! I always get your audiobooks and then I get graphic audio versions if they do them. They are definitely different. And different times I prefer one or the other.
Yes!!! Thank you for sharing the ferret heist excerpt!
It was absolutely adorable!
Oh, wow… I think I might actually buy those! I mean… I never listen to audiobooks. Ever. The voices never fits those I imagined and I have hard time focusing on voice records without any visual link (thanks, ADHD). But this time, I think I might try it after all. Love it!
Ferrets!!! Yayyyyyy!!!
And Leon – he is a worry. He’s out in the world, unsupervised? I know it’s a different world, but still,,,, Leon is a worry.
BTW, did anyone else have Leon’s voice suddenly drop in volume compared to other voices in the clips? I’ve double checked and there was no change to my settings/hardware.
ferrets with cameras. They can get into everything. LOVE IT!!
❤️❤️😍!
Thank you!
GA may convert me to audio!
I just wanted to jump on here and repeat that the graphic audio versions of these books are not the same as the regular audiobooks. I just got done listening to the GA version of Sweep In Peace, and for the first time I actually noticed that some little things are missing, like the prologue, for instance. It doesn’t bother me personally, because I’ve read the book so many times. I absolutely adore the Graphic Audio recordings, but as an example, the regular audiobook version of SIP is 3½ hours longer than the GA version.
The books are slightly abridged when they get turned into scripts, but that is not the reason the productions are shorter 🙂
Ferret heist! Ferrets are the best.
Leon <3
I love these GA adaptations soooo much!
If I get a movie/animated version of the ferret scene I would die a happy person. Just reading/listening to it makes me smile.
I have two questions, one about a deleted scene you posted before the release of ruby fever. I cannot find that scene in the short stories corner of hidden legacy. The scene was about Catalina going to help FBI agents compelled one or two men to open a coded suitcase, with Alessandro being already in the interrogation room. Where can i reread that scene, please?
And also it is a redundant question perhaps, but do you have an idea about when we could expect to have another hidden legacy novel or novella, Arabella’s story? Leon’s?… I really enjoy the family dynamic on that series, and hopped to read more about them.
Thank you
I’m hesitant to reveal my name now…
Hi Audrey,
The briefcase scene has been archived and is not available.
Ideas for Arabella books exist, but the sequel is not on the publishing schedule and not guaranteed.
Thank you for the samples. Im sold! I just relistened to the Legacy books last week. Its fun to hear them with more voices and souns.
Truthfully though, being a member of the horde, I own all the books, plus kindle, plus Audiobooks and GA already. So I wont miss out on the new GA books either. Thank you for all you do for us!
