HL News, Part 2: Samples of White Hot from Graphic Audio

Blog, Hidden Legacy, Nevada Baylor POST A COMMENT August 29, 2025 by Moderator R

The dramatized adaptation of White Hot, the second novel in the Hidden Legacy series, will be released September 12 by Graphic Audio.

As usual, the Records Keeper has snuck us a few tasty exclusive samples ahead of time. Hasn’t he, Michael?

Leon-narration sweeps the BDH nation!

A mysterious stranger approaches Nevada at the ball:

And that’s all.

No other sample.

Just these two.

What’s that? There’s a particular scene in White Hot that’s, oh, I don’t know, universally beloved? A certain fan-favorite moment that BDH listeners have been not-so-p*tiently w*iting for in full cast, sound-effected glory? Well goodness, that’s brand new information to me. Couldn’t possibly imagine what you mean…

Ok, ok, I can’t keep up the act hehe.

FERRET and I cannot emphasise this enough HEEEEIST:

You get a ferret, you get a ferret, we all get a Chinese ferret-badger!

Megan and her team (plus beasties) will be adapting all seven books in the Hidden Legacy series: Nevada’s trilogy, the Diamond Fire transition novella, and Catalina’s trilogy. They will also include the bonus unpublished Arabella POV blog exclusives: A Misunderstanding and The Cool Aunt. Some of these releases will overlap with Nora’s adaptations of Wilmington Years and Blood Heir, coming in the first half of next year from Graphic Audio.

A quick reminder: Graphic Audio adaptations aren’t commissioned by authors. GA are an independent company who decide which books they’d like to adapt and approach authors for the rights to those works. House Andrews are more than happy to grant the rights, provide insight on canon, pronunciation guides, and makes sure fan-favorite scenes are spotlighted, but all creative, casting and business decisions belong to GA.

Also important: these adaptations will never replace the unabridged, traditional narrator audiobooks released through the publishers or self-published by the authors themselves. Think of them as cousins. One version is your cozy audiobook companion, the other is a full-cast, music-and-sound-effect cinematic experience. GA’s tagline is “A movie in your mind!” and most of us will agree they deliver.

I have covered in more detail how to purchase on the GA app in this post, which you can also supplement with the Graphic Audio Help FAQ on their website. The books should be available for your libraries, as well as major retailers like Audible, Hoopla and Chirp.

Happy listening and may your ferrets be ever stealthy!

The samples are great! I’m really tempted to get the GA version even though I tried listening to audiobooks before, but I couldn’t focus and finish them!

        August 29, 2025 at 12:55 pm

I love all formats but, to quote Lady Wexyn, I love GA the most – they’re my favorite. However, my mind wanders off if just sit and listen to a book. Listening while working on projects I can do on auto-pilot, like gardening and laundry, or while working on a sudoku or jigsaw puzzle (something that uses a different part of my brain) helps me focus!

      • Virginia says

        August 30, 2025 at 8:13 am

I can only listen to audiobooks if I’ve read the book before. When I inevitably get distracted and come back later, I more or less know what’s going on. And I also have to be doing something else.

        • Tina says

          August 31, 2025 at 8:34 am

Same! I love listening to audiobooks, but because I tend to drift away mentally, it has to be something I have already read, so I don’t miss any important revelations, context, reveals, etc. I also like to listen while I cook, or do embroidery, fold laundry, or play solitaire – simple, repetitive, low-decision tasks to keep me in the moment. I got a waterproof speaker so I can listen while I shower, too!

    • Dawn says

      August 29, 2025 at 2:44 pm

I think of the Ferret Heist every time I do laundry….seriously!

Leon reminded me of the stoner kid in the movie Dogma (I think he’s the Jay in the Jay and Silent Bob movies, too).

The actor sounded like he had a lot of fun. I bet he’s hoping Leon gets his own series, too. 😛

They’re focusing all their parental attention on Conlan right now. They are immortal. They will have their next child after Curran becomes more independant. I could imagine a new baby when he is 16-18.

      • Heather says

        August 30, 2025 at 10:17 pm

I want them to have ALL the babies! Roland’s raging case of terminal narcissism made him such a terrible parent that someone needs to exemplify for him that he has always been The Problem. It would be good for him.

Give him several centuries of examples and he might accrue the wisdom to begin to start to develop into an almost halfway-decent human being.

    • Meg says

      August 29, 2025 at 10:52 am

I think they are referring to Julie as Kate’s daughter….

      • Patricia Schlorke says

Yeah. They could also be referring to Julie’s eventual sister Sienna saw in Blood Heir.

I keep asking them if they will consider adapting gun metal magic. I think we might need a few more of the bhd to say how brilliant that book is for them to go for it. it’s needed to explain how Andrea gets engaged in the jump between books in the KDW.

      I know,
I love GA books as well… turns out they keep me way more engaged than traditional audiobooks. However, I only purchase my favorite authors as I could easily break the bank 🙈. So all the books from our esteemed AuthorLords I have or pre order.
Des anyone know if I can borrow GraphicAudio books, either from a public library or elsewhere?

  25. Rebecca says

    August 29, 2025 at 10:05 am

I love traditional unabridged audiobooks and I thought I hated GA audiobooks. Turns out I only hate them when they are the ONLY version of audiobook available.

I think traditional audiobooks are very much like reading the book— nothing could ever be as good and nothing could ever replace that, BUT I really love enjoying my favorite stories in a new way with the GA “movie in your mind” version, too.

I happily own both versions of House Andrews stories and I still do traditional rereads with regular audiobooks at least once a year, but now I can have a little side journey with the GA books, too.

      Keep the faith.
I also pray, because God is good. If He sends the muse, as it were, we’ll get the story. Right now the muse is focused on Maggie, but I firmly believe that He won’t just leave us hanging with Arabella or Hugh or Panthercakes or Penjiro. He just has to let things finish percolating before He delivers the stories to House Andrews for us.

I love GA, and have both traditional and GA versions of all IA series. I’ve worn out my GA Innkeeper audios! Kate Daniels too! But you know what? I think Renee Reedman’s phrasing and interpretation of characters takes the prize on Hidden Legacy. Her interpretation of the Bug stands out, as well as Leon. And Nevada’s character seems to have a better level of maturity.

    • LK says

      September 5, 2025 at 2:20 am

I concur…and I like her Rogan better, too. My appreciation for Renee Raudman has only increased. What she accomplishes using only one/her voice is truly impressive! I prefer it. But I AM re-listening to GA’s Innkeeper Chronicles for the upteenth time. They are some of my favorites, too! I’m currently listening to Sweep in Peace and trying to figure out if Dagorkun is voiced by the actor who plays Xaden Riorson in 4th Wing. Something about them sounds similar.

Hi, can you clarify that there are usually two audio versions, one by the publishers and one by the Graphic Audio group? I have tried very hard to listen to the GA but can’t do it. My eyesight has been damaged because of the big C crap. Audio works great for me but I with the GA, it’s too chaotic. If this is correct, then I will pester my library to get the publisher versions. Thanks!

    • Finula says

      August 30, 2025 at 9:38 am

GA is never the first audio publication. They sort of do homage editions with lots of audio frills. There should always be a prior version. I have noticed that audiobooks tend to go away at my library, so yours may have dropped the first versions when the GA version came out. You should be able to get them through an interlibrary loan with your local librarians assistance. Best of luck!

    • Moderator R says

      August 30, 2025 at 10:16 am

Yes, as the article says, there is a traditional audiobook and for some of the books, also the dramatized (Graphic Audio) version 🙂

  52. Latrica Yates says

    August 30, 2025 at 12:11 pm

Oh, wow… I think I might actually buy those! I mean… I never listen to audiobooks. Ever. The voices never fits those I imagined and I have hard time focusing on voice records without any visual link (thanks, ADHD). But this time, I think I might try it after all. Love it!

    Ferrets!!! Yayyyyyy!!!
And Leon – he is a worry. He’s out in the world, unsupervised? I know it’s a different world, but still,,,, Leon is a worry.
BTW, did anyone else have Leon’s voice suddenly drop in volume compared to other voices in the clips? I’ve double checked and there was no change to my settings/hardware.

I just wanted to jump on here and repeat that the graphic audio versions of these books are not the same as the regular audiobooks. I just got done listening to the GA version of Sweep In Peace, and for the first time I actually noticed that some little things are missing, like the prologue, for instance. It doesn’t bother me personally, because I’ve read the book so many times. I absolutely adore the Graphic Audio recordings, but as an example, the regular audiobook version of SIP is 3½ hours longer than the GA version.

The books are slightly abridged when they get turned into scripts, but that is not the reason the productions are shorter 🙂

If I get a movie/animated version of the ferret scene I would die a happy person. Just reading/listening to it makes me smile.

I have two questions, one about a deleted scene you posted before the release of ruby fever. I cannot find that scene in the short stories corner of hidden legacy. The scene was about Catalina going to help FBI agents compelled one or two men to open a coded suitcase, with Alessandro being already in the interrogation room. Where can i reread that scene, please?
And also it is a redundant question perhaps, but do you have an idea about when we could expect to have another hidden legacy novel or novella, Arabella’s story? Leon’s?… I really enjoy the family dynamic on that series, and hopped to read more about them.
    Thank you
I’m hesitant to reveal my name now…

      Hi Audrey,

The briefcase scene has been archived and is not available.

Ideas for Arabella books exist, but the sequel is not on the publishing schedule and not guaranteed.

Thank you for the samples. Im sold! I just relistened to the Legacy books last week. Its fun to hear them with more voices and souns.
Truthfully though, being a member of the horde, I own all the books, plus kindle, plus Audiobooks and GA already. So I wont miss out on the new GA books either. Thank you for all you do for us!
