Hi everyone, Mod R here.
The blog has been a bit quiet this week, and that’s because a lot of surprises are brewing backstage. You will hopefully see all of them soon (like next month soon).
But surprises take a lot of backstage admin tasks, and admin takes a lot of time out of writing, and I’ve been sworn to secrecy, but maybe some of the surprises require writing, who knows, not I, don’t even try to get it out of me! ::shifty side eye::
In the meantime, we have heard how much you miss FrInnDays and checking the blog for something to kickstart the weekend and have Horde funnies about. So do we!
The blog will feature a new beloved Ilona Andrews character every Friday, including backstory goodies we haven’t heard before, discussion on fan favourite scenes, questions, character development, tropes, ships and everything in between! And the best part is, the Horde gets to vote on which character they want to see take the stage. I know how much you like polls hehe.
Without further ado, next week’s Star Character in the FrInnDay tent is:
- Arabella (25%, 1,931 Votes)
- Roman (22%, 1,738 Votes)
- Grandma Frida (16%, 1,211 Votes)
- Augustine (12%, 939 Votes)
- Cornelius (7%, 506 Votes)
- Barabas (5%, 400 Votes)
- Luther (5%, 383 Votes)
- Ilemina (5%, 353 Votes)
- Adira Kline (2%, 193 Votes)
- Jim (2%, 117 Votes)
Total Voters: 7,771
PS: I’ve deliberately not included certain characters from Innkeeper, because they appear in Sweep of the Heart, and not everyone has read the serial. So please, protect your friends and don’t ask spoilers until release day on December 13th.
If there’s something you are dying to know which is an Innkeeper spoiler, you can email me directly at modr@ilona-andrews.com

Looks like the poll is closed, but I would have voted for Augustine.

How about Gerard and Helen (Sr.)? How was Gerard trapped for so long, who was he and what was he doing at an inn if he was human? Was Helen Sr. an Innkeeper’s scion? How did they come to their inn? Also, Klaus? A “How I became an Arbitrator and learned to travel the Galaxy” story would be fun. I figured they didn’t have a major role in SotH, so it might work.

Humans in the know can be guests at Inns ????. Helen came to the inn because it was at this point just a house for sale https://ilona-andrews.com/gerard-demille-and-helen-meet/ . We don’t have anything on her being an Innkeeper child, nor does she need to be – Innkeeper magic is not genetic ????
Simone says
I know it wasn’t an option, but wouldn’t it be wonderful to read the Frindays serial of how Julie became Aurelia Rider? All her travels with Erra, New Shinar, becoming a warrior princess.
All the things that are briefly touched in Blood Heir, but actual details!
Terry says
Write in ballot:
Kate, with or without Curran.
Rogan, with or without Nevada
Matilda, with or without Arland.

I just binge-read Inn Keeper for the billionth time and am super curious about a mention from the Clean Sweep novel…
Apparently, Dina ‘knows’ Jack & Gaston. She can’t place them but she remembers them from somewhere. I’m hoping that we have some treats in store with the new book coming out. Pre-order “CHECK”. Could we possibly be learning more about what happened to Dina’s parents (maybe, who / what is Sebastian North?), or what’s going on with Klaus? However, I would also love to know more about Dina’s previous relationship with Jack / Gaston. Where did they meet and why doesn’t she fully remember them?
Moderator R says
We know why she remembers them 🙂 . She saw them in Baha-char in Clean Sweep.
“We crossed the street and turned left into one of the side streets, which was only slightly less wide. Here the traffic was lighter. To the left and slightly in front of us, two men walked shoulder to shoulder. The first wore leather pants, a white shirt with wide sleeves, and a leather vest over it. A wide leather bracer enclosed his left forearm. His hair, a rare blond shade, almost gold, hung in a ponytail down his back. He moved with a casual aristocratic elegance, perfectly balanced. Watching him, you had a feeling that if the road suddenly became a tightrope, he would just keep on walking without breaking a stride. My father moved like that. I sped up a little. We drew even and I saw a slender sword on his waist. That’s what I thought. An expert swordsman. I glanced at his face and blinked. He was remarkably handsome. The man to his left was larger, his shoulders broader, his body emanating contained aggression. He didn’t walk, he stalked, and you could tell by the way he moved that he would be very strong. His auburn hair looked like he’d rolled out of bed, dragged his hand through it, and gone on about his day. He wore dark pants and a black leather jacket that was more doublet than motorcycle. A ragged scar crossed his left cheek and when he turned his head, his eyes shone with yellow. Interesting. “It’s always work with you,” the russet-haired man said.”

I remember I was so excited to read that and see a glimpse of grown up George and Jack. I always loved the characters, especially because their dynamic reminds me a lot of my own two sons ( minus any obvious mystical powers!)

yay!
