Ouch
No no they don’t. Especially when they keep it cut short.
LOL, even when they have it long. My hubby wears it longer than mine AND has 6 sisters. He is awesome, but ultimately he’s still a guy and doesn’t always get it. But they try and we love them for it.
Anytime I am having issues with mine the first thing the husband suggests it to cut it all off ?. He is a Marine and has to get it cut every week so he doesn’t care at all.
They really don’t understand… I thought it looked nicely casually wavy.
LOL! My husband understands because HE is the one with the curly hair. I so have hair envy when it comes to his hair.
I use he diva curl gel and curl makers and love it!
No. They usually don’t.
My husband did not understand why our daughterâs hair is really curly/wavy…..I grew my hair out from its short cut. He never asked again and he never questions me about my hair….(he is bald…)
Your hair looks great! I truly love the curly hair look and I will never go back…
Oooo, yeah, he doesnât understand (and is lucky to be among the living.
?
Some guys, the ones who have long hair, do understand–Gordon is not one. ?
I have wavy hair, but it frizzes like crazy. I lightly rub my hands with fructis leave in conditioner after I’ve blown dry/brush to control the frizz.
That meme!
I thought it looked super cute! My straight hair was very jealous.
+1
Hahaha! I love it
I love it. The worst comment I ever received for my curly hair was from an old boss. I took my hair down due to a headache ( I wore it in a bun99% of the time for work ). He came in. Did a double take. Then thinking he was complimenting me said, âwow itâs so bushy.â Bushy.
I had an uncle who kept telling me my hair ‘looked like a whin (ie, gorse) bush’ (Northern Ireland accent is required for full effect).
Hahaha my mum used to nag me to brush my curly hair… even at the age of 18. So one day I let her comb my luscious locks. Cue fluff head. I’ve never been nagged again :).
They don’t have a clue. Like you ever brush curly hair ? I have super curly, ringlet style hair so I get it. Your hair looks really cute that way! My husband prefers my hair blown straight for some reason. Men, rolls eyes again…
I have thin fine hair. My 8 year old has curly hair. I’m at a loss. How do I get the knots out if I can’t brush it?
You only brush it in the shower when you’re conditioning it. NEVER once it’s dry. Years of experience taught me that!
Comb it in the shower before rinsing out the conditioner.
I quit asking my husband because I’d be super pleased with my hair being not a frizzed mess and my husband would say awww, you took away the fluffy parts. Apparently, he likes the electric socket look?
Your husband is a gem.
Cue that little girl from Despicable Me …
‘It’s SO FLUFFY!!!’
It looks beautiful! Love the color too! I always wanted curly red hair. Next lifetime I guess…
Men just don’t understand or women are mad about their hair.
I know which one my money is on?
I was trying to get a curl out of my wavy hair and ask my husband what he thought. He told me it was a âcurly, wet, messâ. ??ââïž
I think it looked great. My hair got straighter as I aged. I miss curls like that
Me too. The genes didn’t pass to the kids either; they both have exceeding thick, straight hair. Sigh.
I thought it looked fine! And I totally sympathize! Mine thinks hair care means shaving it all off over the trash can every couple months or so.
So are the first pictures of your hair looking like regular curls/waves before you ran a brush through it? Because they look fine there and then in the second group of pictures your hair does look more frizzy like you put a brush through it and I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but that first picture in the second group reminded me of Curran and a lion’s mane!
Do you really brush your hair when it’s dry? And if so, why? Because my hair is basically what yours looks like in the second group of pictures if I brush it dry and I avoid the electrocuted Benjamin Franklin look at all costs. The first rule of curly and wavy hair is never, under any circumstances, brush it when it is dry! I could be wrong obviously but by the set of photos it just seems like what you did. Do not listen to your husband (I’m sure he means well but he is clueless as all men are when it comes to a woman’s hair) and do your thing with your hair! Men do not know better.
I was thinking the post brush pics looked more Merida from Brave.
Maybe Gordon has a hidden thing for redheaded scots…
Well he IS a Gordon after all!
I opt for cute and wavy
Men, sigh. I like it. And the color too
It looks cute!!! I love it!
I’ve got natural curl. Your first pic is me at the beginning of the day. Your last pic is me after just one day with it unbound. It just bushes as my head moves. I end up looking a lot like the girl from Brave.
My hair is very straight. My husband loves to look at me in the morning, whilst it is sticking out (and sometimes after I brush it) and say, “are you going to roll back that wig.” And yet, he breathes. I really love him
It looks fabulous! Those without long hair….have no right to opinion..LOL
He doesnât get it for sure. I have wavy hair, middle daughter curly. It has a mind of itsâ own. Brushing after drying is verboten. ? Stay strong and beautiful.
I am envious of all of you with thick wavy, curly hair. Mine left after high fever illness, plus age.
I only brush my hair when I want to look like an alpaca.
Try Lubricity. It is a shampoo and conditioner created by a chemist for his daughter for her curly hair. My daughter uses it and it has helped make her curls uniform and smoother. Less of the unbrushed look. Lol
Ohh Iâll have to try that on my daughter!
I’ll second the DevaCurl products! But it looks great!
Men only understand hair changes if they get a cue card. I really like the free flow curly girl method on you, it looks great. The curls look soft and touchable.
Your hair is lovely.
I have curly hair and only use deva products..have used for the past 10 years. I ride two hours for a deva trained technician to cut my hair. The struggle is real. But deva and the curly girl system saved me and my hair.
Looks great. Have you tried ghost oil by Verb love all of there products.
Yeah, I prefer the before pictures to the brushed pictures.
Remember when permed hair was big in the 80s and 90s? (And not big as in size — although it was that, too, sometimes — but big as in popular.) I have naturally curly hair but I tried having it permed once. Notice I said once. It wasn’t too terribly bad, it was just the curls were really tight and not something I’d done before. No one could get used to it.
I think the “not brushed” comment might come from the top of the head, where the hair is still somewhat straight. You’d have to use a pick comb, but maybe that’s the part he meant????
My mother permed my hair once. I cried for two weeks. The next time she saw me she said, ” I may have left that on top long”. You think mom, I can’t get a brush through it.
…aaah Michael Hutchence.
Though I don’t know that he got it permed, just more reminiscing about the 80s đ
Remember the ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ vid?
mmm
I grew up with curly hair in the age where pageboys were the “in” cut. The more I brushed my hair, the more it looked unbrushed. My mom used to send me back to the bathroom to get ready for school…because my hair looked so messy. (Curls from my dad’s side of the family).
I think it’s just a matter of taste. He might like it better brushed, but it’s your hair. FWIW I come from a generation that *always* brushed our hair. Mine is pretty much like yours. That’s why I’ve worn it very short for most of my adult life. When it was long, I wore it in a braid – French for dressy applications, regular for everyday. Occasionally I would do a sort of French twist. Wearing it loose anywhere but to bed wasn’t really an option.
Just pick the look you like for everyday, and you can humor him occasionally if he prefers a different one.
My husband prefers mine long btw. He’s had to get over that.
Ooh , wrong answer. Thatâs a rookie mistake, too. He should know better.
Why do we ask them? We know better. The curls and the color are gorgeous.
Finally read Iron and Magic. Been saving it for a special occasion….which turned out to be learning that my stepdad has stage IV cancer.
?? So sorry to hear about your Dad. *hugs* I hope Iron and Magic helped you as much as books have helped me through life’s rough patches.
Oh, and I totally agree that Ilona’s curls are gorgeous!
Also sending hugs. Life is a gut punch some times.
It looks very nice. I actually was looking for something for my daughter . Thank you in a round about way
Thank you ladies for providing my laugh of the day. I only wish I had that much hair.
My roommate has braided hair, seriously it’s down to her hips, and my cat loves it. He considers it his personal play toy. He sleeps on her pillow when her hair is down so he can wallow in it. So funny.
Curly girl method for life. Hope you enjoy the results!
Loved the curly girl look and husbands really donât get it!
? oh you want me to brush my curly hair? I donât think you are prepared for that level of fluff!
Your curly hair looks amazing. Heâs a boy, he doesnât know.
Ouch. I love your curly girl look. As punishment, I think you should make Gordon read every single comment in the previous blog about curly hair. I’m pretty sure he’ll never make that mistake again!
Oops, sorry to anyone else who had flashbacks to that dungeon …
Ah, I like it! Mine is the same, and rd too, and that is the exact comment that my husband made. I did comb it, so he could see the results. Doesnât ask me anymore. And, I was at a conference in Texas, let my hair air dry. Got to the meeting, and had several comments about how they just loved my âbig hairâ. So, do what works for you!
I love your curly hair Ilona đ It looks great unbrushed, while the brushed look makes you look like you stuck a fork in an outlet. My hair looks like yours when it’s long. But around 03 my hair got so heavy I got headaches. Off came my hip-length hair. Now I have an above the collar, fluffy bob. Which I can get away with brushing because the shorter it gets the less curly it is.
My husband loves my curly hair and he knows itâs a handful. I once got a blow out and he was not a fan. Said I didnât look like myself at all.
I only ever use a wide-tooth comb when my hair is wet, after Iâve put my hair products in. I just leave it alone otherwise. No brushing.
Your hair looks lovely! I hope you are happy – looks like some hard work went into it, for sure.
Gorgeous. When i had more hair i would get a long layered cut and curly perm. I could mousse it and run my fingers through it and it looked great
Or i could pick it for a little fluffier look. Sometimes i could hot roll it and just finger comb for several days. Hair is too thin now. Sure do miss it.
Love the color gorgeous
I loved the curly look!
Oh my word. This is my hair- you are completely right. They havenât a clue
Rereading what I just wrote ….now it reads weird. I just meant that I get it! And I love your color by the way
It looks luscious and like a shorter version of every fairy tale heroineâs hair.
Oh, Gordon. Honey.WRONG ANSWER.
I think it looks great. Am a bit jealous, even.
It looked very pretty. But don’t give up on the keratin treatment yet. It’s not the formaldehyde Brazilian blowout. Different product. It’s applied and then hot ironed on piece by piece to coat and relax the hair fibers. Lasts two three months or more as it slowly wears off. Your hair is like mine so plan 2 3 hrs as hair must be sectioned. It will also grow more because of smoothness and less breakage.
I think it looks FABULOUS!!
OMG! Laughing out loud and hoping you smacked the husband.
I love the looks of the unbrushed version.
It looks great in the first few pictures! I think you arenât putting enough of the curling product in. I went to a Deva Curl salon and I couldnât believe how much of the curling product they put in! Between putting in more product and using a t-shirt or microfiber towel to gently scrunch the water out of my hair, my curls look great! I usually cheat with a diffuser because my hair takes forever to dry. However, I havenât used a comb or brush since I started two weeks ago, and my curls are the best theyâve ever been. Hang in thereâit really does work!
Cantu creme leave in! It’s a miracle.
Welcome to my world. We could be hair twins now except I just cut mine. Curly hair always looks a bit wild. I have grown used to it over my life with naturally curly red hair but I get a super thrill when it gets straightened and I feel so polished.
They most certainly do not!
I have unruly hair as well. Frizzy, half curls and half straight. I spent an hour in front of the mirror one time, painstakingly curling each section and spritzing with hairspray. When I asked my husband how it looked, he takes a good long look, and says “It looks….undone?” Oie vey!
Love it! Looks fab on you. Really digging the color with your skin tone. Agree with others though—those last two pix really look mane-like and gaspingly dry. *nose-wrinkle* The Curran look is not cute, so brushing is is to be avoided.
Word substitutions for Gordon’s comment: …tousled locks…disorderly waves…languid coils… *smirk*
I donât know if you follow Linz DeFranco on social media, but she is currently doing the curly girl method. She post pretty much daily on the different products sheâs trying.
LOL, that’s fabulous!
So my husband has long curly hair. When we first started dating he didnât know how to actually style his hair and would brush out his curls all the time and look like your bottom photos lol. I had to introduce him to product.
Love the colour of your hair, and it looks great curly. Husbands have no freaking idea!
Haha cracked me up completely- you know the guy is always going to panick at how heâs supposed to answer any female looks related question. I love the soft separated curls- very nice ?
You looked great… until you brushed your hair; then you still looked like one of my favorite authors – if she was a leprechaun. Sorry. đ
I think Gordon needs to give an “I’m sorry” present. Maybe a massage?
Oh dear, Iâm curvy but not curly (loving the hair??)
My hair is so fine if I put it in a ponytail I have to wind the scrunchie 5 times at least ?
That’s hilarious to me.
My guy thinks I have 2 kinds of hair: normal, and when I whine about how I need to go get it cut again.
This made me smile – Iâve been following the Curly Girl method for around 5 months now and my husband is on equally dangerous ground with hair related comments. All I can say is stick with it, it really works but itâs not instant đ
Tried the Curly Girl Method too, but so far my results are not as pretty as yours…
Maybe because my hair is quite long (65-70cm) and therefore probably too heavy to stay curly?
My husband says the exact same thing. Whether I’ve put in no effort or lots of time and fuss he can only tell if its straight or not. Men!! Lol. Your hair looks good unbrushed. Keep at it an don’t forget to scrunch both top and bottom of your lovely long curls.
Okay, this is a sad face. I need a magic wand kind of sad face. Yeah, the color is “POW”, and it does look good with your skin color, not a problem. The style could be the “huh”. Were you showing a more restrained and controlled “do” and now want something with “ta-da!!!”? That is when you go to salon and have a stylist bring out “the Books” and choose what will give “more” and “The JOY” which I believe you are looking for. Just my thoughts, coming from what I perceive.
Extra note, I love your, and Gordon’s writing. I have all your work. It brings me “The Joy” and I am happy in the world of “Ilona Andrews”.
Lol! Yes! Yes! My mom will say to me “well, you know, some people like the messy look these days…” Hugs to you and your lovely, wavy-curly, free spirited hair!
ROFL. Give it time.
Your curls need to find their pattern.
Since I stopped dying it, I dry it stright, because I cannot with the grey and the curl, it’s really too much to ask of one woman, and my husband is like “I can ran my fingers through it without fear of losing one 0.o”
U.U
All of us have naturally curly/wavy hair in my family. My oldest has hair so curly, it is almost a fro if not cut short. Product is key. Donât Brush!!! Comb! With a Wide Tooth Comb!!! Product. Curly girl routine is good. Before you comb, spritz with water. That will cut down on the frizz. I prefer the deva curl products before they changed formula. There are several lines with great products. I had to cut my hair short because of my health. My hair new growth was all about 3 inches long. Iâm 50% white now. The texture as it changes is insane. It used to be as long as yours. The color is fabulous on your hair. My husband asks me not to color mine because he likes my white streak. I told him that that is fine until people ask me if he is my child. Then all bets are off. Your hair is gorgeous. It looked fine. The curls were great. It didnât look unbrushed. It looked like curls are supposed to look.
Ditto on what Shiloh said! No brush, huge toothed comb, love the color!
I showed my husband your pictures. He saw the first ones and said you looked really cute. Then he saw the next few pictures and started giggling in a heh heh heh almost bwahahaha manner.
Silk/satin pillowcase and microfiber towel works wonders. Both are inexpensive. It took me about 6 months to figure out a routine that worked with Curly Girl method.
Your hair looks fabulous! No men don’t get it. Your hubby is better than mine though. I like to keep my hair at just above shoulder length – he would like me to have it longer. However, my hair is very fine and it does not look good when it is long. So every 3 months or so I get it trimmed to above my shoulders. Hubby: what did you do to your hair? Every time. Never fails.

I suggest your husband edit his answer and get back to you with his revised draft. Give him a thesaurus to help him find synonyms for goddess-like.
Cute! It looks cute.
Probably what he really meant was the curls were not super defined. Maybe experiment with the amount of product as suggested?
You’re back in the lab again! đ
Just remember that in Italian male = bad
Unbrushed? Whatever! Looked great to me…my hair, so flat! Your hair, nice body!
And wow “brushed” definitely = ‘full poodle hair explosion’. (Are u in there somewhere?!)
Too bad there’s not some magical conditioner u could slip into his hair stuff so HIS hair would go all unruly…..
Keep the curly girl method. And the gorgeous hair color. I have dead straight hair that hates coloring and can only keep a curl for a few hours at best.
Love the color. Love the body. I have zilch body. So jealous. I agree, men just don’t get it. You are fine.
Hair and clothes are for impressing other women anyway, so why consult a man?
I think it looks great! …. Unbrushed…. thatâs like when I tried a new red lip stick and my ex told me it looked like Iâd been hit in the face by a fire truck. ?
Heh. Looks like my hair when I was younger, but there was just m o r e of if and it was mid-chest and had a nimbus of frizzies. I have this stuff a my moms cutter used on me (Mom was under the n machine when the cutter turned to me and said,âYou. You MUST let me do something with your hair. She got an ovation from everyone in the shop) called Chihstsai. A leave that requires minuscule amounts. Great for de tangling, adding shine and control. Run into damp or dry hair and brush into shape. Leave til dry and brush again if you want. I really think you might like it. If you donât Iâll buy the jar off you. };{p>
Poor hubs. I love the color! And all those curls. So pretty. All the hollywood glamour girls from the forties had the luscious long curls. It’s a look. Put on a tight sweater, throw it in a side part, and do that shoulder to hip move Rita Hayworth does. He’ll get it.
I was thinking what you commented. So pretty and curly. I thought wow that Curly Girl stuff really works. Hair color wonderful on you. Yes, men and husbands for sure.
It’s very pretty.
Hi
I love your hair and the colour is wonderful
I have your problem with my hair and my hairdresser
adviced me a climbed cutting in the front and in the long part. in this way it creates the visual effect that seems you have waves of the same lenght even if it’s not so and they maintain the waves effect much longer !
Lovely!!! Welcome to the curly life! It does get easier. I started curly girl 5 months ago and I spend far less time on it now than I ever did trying to make it look straight.
In the first photos your hair looks fabulous! Your husband just hasn’t gotten used to it yet. The old look is familiar to him?
Gotta go with Gordon on this one. đ (KIsses ever getting a blurb from Ilona goodbye, but the bro code must be maintained)
Oh man, that sounds just like my husband. Did you roll your eyes ? at him when he answered.
I like the curls.
I like the curls too!
I like the curls too but they need corralling. In the section for African American hair care they will have a moisturizer that will calm it down. They have some great ones Hair packs rock for this. Rinse it out and use a gel with a lot of hold in sensible amounts or aybe a curl constructor afterwards. Fructis Garnier has a good one. You should be able to scrunch it as it dries to make it stay curlier all over. VERY light finger combing after swooping back wings with either combs or pretty barrettes or pull back all the front stuff into either a pony tail near the top back of your head so it all cascades down your back or use one of those jeweled princess hair holders from a drug store to do the same thing. It can either replace a pony tail holder or be applied over it if hair tends to skither out of things. . That makes it easier to see your pretty face. Finger comb AFTER you have it secured. It helps to avoid the frizzies. You can also give it a spritz of one of the hair anti-frizz sprays that make it all shiny after its all done. They usually have a lot of silicone in them that makes it easier to comb later on too. There are also tiny clip-on sparkly flowers, fairies or butterflies available. if you are feeling whimsical. Good luck!
Because I’m an understanding man, I’ll say I like the curls too. When I was young, around 40 or so, I looked into my heart of hearts to find the most loving birthday for my wife. The gods shone their lights of genius on me and I bought my wife wrinkle cream for her 40th birthday. (I might point out that she is my ex-wife now…no, not because of the cream which was just one example of my ineptitude. I don’t think be hypomanic helped my decision-making process then or at other times ?). She still managed to stay with me for almost 20 more years. I don’t know why there are more women saints, maybe it’s because they do the miraculous on a day-to-day basis?
My hair is the same way. Very challenging, especially in a humid climate. I applaud your efforts to embrace the waves-they look good!
Like the curls!! Am 67now and hair started curling when I turned 60! Against science, curling from the ends not roots. My mom tortured me with permanents for years by the time I was 5 (Tonettes). Got perms done by daughter thru 80s and 90s (layered over half down my back –she still complains) . Took about 4 years to learn how to deal with Curl! Thought it was easier to deal with it curly from birth reassuring to find its not! Trying the curly girl stuff soon.
My hair started curling in my 50’s as well. Like we don’t have enough odd stuff going on as we age, we have to learn all new hair! So happy to hear it isn’t just me.
DITTO!
I think the curls are extremely pretty. Color is spot on. Note to self: Never ask a man that is not a hair dresser about my hair. LOL
Have you tried using the lighter products? You look like a wavy 2b. It looks like you might need more hold and moisture. Here’s a list of products for lighter weight, and low porosity products: https://www.curlsbot.com/cg-lite. It looks alright in the back, but just needs more hold in the front.
I think your hair looks great, I can really see the curls starting to take shape. My husband does the same thing. I spent forever on my makeup before a party and thought it turned out pretty darned well. My husband then walked in the room and asked why I looked weird. Men…
That last picture Makes you look really “BRAVE”, Princess Merida.
Seriously, it’s gorgeous. But I don’t know how you can stand the heat, living in
Texas. It’s too hot here in Florida, even in February, for more than a pixy.
But we rock the same color.
Your curls look great for only a week – honestly two to three weeks is about how long it takes for the hair to fully adjust. Also, if you live in a high humidity area, avoid glycerin products if you can- or use only ones that have glycerin way down on the ingredient list.
Glycerin is a substance that seeks homeostasis with the ambient atmosphere – which is why it used so much in lotions- so it will actually pull water into your hair, making it limp and frizzy at the same time.
Try a really good protein treatment like the Aphogee heat one you can get at Sally’s and see how more defined your curls look after. (The Aphogee stinks when you use it, but it works wonders and it doesn’t cost a fortune either, one or twice a month after you color should be great.)
Keep on rocking the curls!
Such a âhusbandâ comment. Mine does the same- he doesnât understand that the struggle is real. Your hair looks GREAT! You have volume AND definition! It takes many people months to look that good. Give it some time. This works well with your current âbe lazy and do nothingâ author endgame situation. Curly girl is all about, well, doing nothing. Thanks for the pic update!!
The correct question is ‘do you like the way your hair looks in the photos?’
My hair is fine and has a body wave that does this same thing with conditions of: humidity, fresh washed, allowed to dry on its own and then heaven forbid brushed, sweat.
I use Pantene moisture renewal shampoo and their similar conditioner.
But when my hair is the same length of yours I get it cut to jaw length and have it layered to lift the weight. My bangs are cut to eyebrow length at the center with the sides angled down to show my stud earrings and so they can be swept up, center parted and to the sides.
It takes a brushing in the morning and then I can forget about it for the day and it still looks good.
Its time for my quarterly sheering as my hair is now your length and for me is becoming irritating. I need to rediscover my bangs. Also I need to renew my Driver’s License and they want to take an updated photo. *sigh*
It looks amazing! Curly girl is the way to go & if you have someone in your area who does curly cuts, it is so worth it. They cut it after you have washed it and let it dry so they can see how the curls form. You don’t end up with those weird sproingy things or random long strands sticking out of the end of a curl. My hair & my daughters are swavy, my husband & son have serious ringlets. My son just does co-wash. I can’t do that as it is too heavy for my hair. Live in MN so right now it is pretty strait & frizzy in this deep freeze. Had pretty strait hair as a child. It grew in curlier with each baby & as I am getting gray. The curly girl method helped me figure out what to do as I was lost with this new curly hair. Love the color, too.
In his defense, it IS unbrushed. And to validate you, your hair being unbrushed it’s exactly why it looks cute, fantastic, awesome. Kudos for emarking on the curly girl method journey!
Love it! Your curls are already looking really defined, would love to see more progress pics if you don’t mind sharing ? the color suits you too!
I was on the cg routine for a few months but threw in the towel (3 kids five and under, so no me time right now) and got a pixie cut a few days ago. I regret it.. It really doesn’t suit my face shape. But at least I can say I tried, and it’ll grow back. My daughter’s hair, otoh, is looking pretty fab even though I skip most of the steps
My hair was unmanageable when I was a kid and teenager. I would spend half an hour brushing it and walk out to go somewhere only to have my dad yell at me to brush my hair, it looked terrible. Mom got upset if I suggested any drastic change in cut or color. And people wondered why it was in a ponytail 97% of the time!
My relationship with my hair is drastically improved these days.
Your hair looks beautiful and healthy, and if you like it, that’s what counts!
Your hair is beautiful but you absolutely cannot brush curly hair after it has dried! I will consult my curly haired niece who works in the beauty arena. Her hair always looks fabulous.
Your hair is lovely. The color is great and the look is just perfect. Don’t brush it, use a large tooth comb. It’s better for the hair and avoids breakage.
Okay, hereâs a recommendation: Living Proof, their humidity shield and their shine serum. Both are on Amazon.
Dear, sweet, Gordon…hold still while us curly girls chuck our wet combs at you.
Ilona, I think your curls are starting to show nicely…very pretty.
full of Sassitude – you rock it!
Look at the curls in the back â that is your future curls in the front. Persistance is the name of the game when correcting years of damage. Or you can get that trim someothers have mentioned.
Wow, looks great, the color too. Def recommend some sort of anti-drying out spray, as someone mentioned. When mine started curling I let it go long (after years of âpixieâ cuts) and friends seem to want to touch it all the time, like Iâm a teddy bear. From the mountain girl who road a motorcycle, grew up with guns, does traditional Kung Fu. So…not. Well until my kid started cuddling in it. Sigh, they get you in the end. ( Just for everyoneâs comfort, no Iâm not a survivalist living alone surrounded by weapons and wearing a red hat, but boots are still a must)
oh hagrid… :O
CGM takes time & patience, but I definitely see progress in your curls! Best tip I can give you is to deep condition at least once a week, itâs amazing how much of a difference it makes. Good luck ? (please feel free to email/dm if I can help. 2 years into CGM here)
HA! “doesn’t look brushed”. I love the photos: not brushed you say? I’ll show you not brushed! POOF!
I LOVE the “curly girl” method… I may have modified it some by now, it’s been a few years. No sulphites, shampoo ~ 1 x per week/when truly dirty, the rest: conditioner plus rinse, then conditioner no rinse, finger comb, gel cast, go. No bleach, no heat, no brush, no frizz (ok, significantly less frizz). đ
That is exactly what my husband says when I go the CG route!! Frustrating as _ell!! But, he also added one time that he loved how it looked!!! What the?! Why couldnât he say that, instead of or along with his comments that it looked like I hadnât brushed it or done anything to it?!! I would have taken that as success, if he had said that from the beginning of my trying CG!! My hair looks almost identical to yours, except for the gorgeous color. I LOVE your color!! Looks amazing on you! I am hesitant to go with that much red, so am still doing an ash brown. My hair naturally has a lot of red in it, which comes out when coloring, so I usually go with an âashâ to try to control some of the red. Red still comes through, just not as strong as it does if I donât use an ash coloring.
Your hair really does look awesome – color and curl!! If Gordon is anything like my husband, he was probably thinking to himself and not bothering to say out loud, how much he liked it!! I commented earlier how my husband calls my make up âunnecessary paint and spakelingâ, which drives me crazy!! What I forgot to add was there are times when I do all of the getting ready when he isnât around, and he sees me without seeing me going through everything, and he usually makes some kind of comment about how good I look!! ?? Must be something about watching everything I do to âget readyâ that spoils how he sees the result!! Sigh! Seems like I just canât win!
Your hair looks amazing, and if YOU like it, then homerun!! Gordon probably likes it too, just forgot to add that part! ?
You are Merida!!!!!
The colour fits you pretty well.
It looks quite good. I get around the âunbrushedâ look by brushing mine when its wet. Also, itâs your hair. You take care of it. The rest of the obvious statement Iâll leave out.
Your hair is lovely. I really like the curls. My daughter has very curly hair which she hates, and she keeps having it straightened. I keep buying her various curl products. I love her curls but she isn’t ready to live the curly life. It’s good to see you embrace your curls!
Was there smirking going on? I bet there was smirking. I think it looks very lovely!
I don’t normally comment but have to today on this topic. I’m known for my “big” hair and never knew what to do with it until my hair person suggested the Peter Coppola keratin treatment. First time had it done in hair salon and then have been doing the treatments myself since. You can buy the Peter Coppola Keratin complex treatment on Amazon or Ebay, then look for directions on Youtube. If you use the shampoo and conditioner to go along with it, your hair will be nice and smooth for 4-6 months.
To ordinarily tame your hair, under NO circumstances should you ever use a brush. Just use your fingers. Shampoo, use a good conditioner, and let your hair dry naturally. Use a leave in conditioner too. But don’t put anything with silicone or alcohol in your hair as they just make your hair more dry.
Your hair is gorgeous looking by the way!
I donât have curly hair mine is super thick & straight, but I do have one of the BEST towels for when you just want to towel dry your hair. I saw an ad today for the manufacturer, I havenât seen these in a store since I bought my three towels over 20 years ago. When my hair was longer than clipper length I would just wrap it up in the towel while I was getting dressed then bend over and reverse the towel to pat/grip out sections to finish the drying. Then it was ready for product & combing because it was just damp, with how thick my hair is that was huge.

From a fellow curly girl, I think your hair looks great. My big problem is my hair is fine, so if I use a lot of the products they make today, my hair is flat. I donât like frizzball but I donât like flat either. I used to use LâOrĂ©al Gelling Curls /Lasting Curls (it had many names over the years) and my hair looked fabulous. They quit making it though and Iâve never found a good substitute.
