Print Editions of Small Magics and Kinsmen Universe

Hi everyone, Mod R in the house.

House Andrews are celebrating their Ruby Fever submission with tea and admin tasks, so I thought I would pop in and give you an update I’ve been promising for a while in the comments.

THE KINSMEN UNIVERSE

The print editions of Small Magics and Kinsmen Universe originally announced last fall are finally available. These have previously existed in print format only as collector editions from Subterranean Press and many fans were priced out of it.

You can now purchase them for the first time as paperbacks. They are PODs (print on demand), which does unfortunately mean that the price is unavoidably higher than typical paperbacks. They will both also be available on Ingram, for indie bookstores and BN.

The Kinsmen Universe is a previously published anthology containing Silent Blade and Silver Shark, as well as the short story A Mere Formality. They are the precursors to Fated Blades.

SMALL MAGICS

Small Magics is a previously published collection, containing the complete Curran POV- yes, including Jim’s POV and the grocery lists!
It also includes the earliest short story in Kate Daniels Series, A Questionable Client, her first meeting with Saiman and a certain Volhv family; Magic Tests, which gives you a glimpse at Julie’s school life; Retribution Clause, an enigmatic mission featuring Saiman’s cousin, a frost giant insurance adjuster. And, finally, Of Swine and Roses and Grace of Small Magics, big fan favourites- two stories in different universes than Kate’s.

Before I forget, several of you asked yesterday when the Graphic Audio adaptation of Sweep in Peace will be available on other audiobook platforms (Audible, Overdrive, Google books, Apple books, Chirp, Hoopla, AudiobooksNow, LibroFM etc)- the answer is the 1st of May.

  6. Is there any chance of future novellas/short stories or novels in the Grace of Small Magics universe? I recently revisited that story and really enjoyed it. It reminded me of a mixture of different universes which is almost like a crossover event!

  12. Oh yay, I’ve been waiting for this 🙂 I have the collectors edition of Kinsman but Small Magics was sold out when I bought it. A paperback edition will be easier on my wallet anyway..

  21. Will hope for something more celebratory than tea, later in the day or week, if the long slog has not killed everything but “good riddance!” On the other hand, no reason not to have a toast for “good riddance,” if it comes to that! You have deserved it and the BDH is grateful!!

  23. The Graphic Audio app is great. I haven’t had any problems with it and the website is also easy to negotiate. I do have a lot of book apps, but as far as functionality goes this one is one of the better ones.

    I’m sure somewhere this has been answered before so, I’m sorry to ask again.

    Will there ever be an audio version of Small Magics? There’s ebook and print so am hoping for audio to round it all out.

    Will there ever be a ebook/book/audio where all the short stories in the KD Universe that are currently in anthologies and on the website be collected?

      I have asked for you about the audio format for Small Magics.

      As far as the short stories from KD, everything has been published either in Small Magics, on its own or part of one of the full length books as far as I know ☺️- please have a look at the Complete Books list here, all the titles are hyperlinks that lead you to retailer websites https://ilona-andrews.com/release-schedule/#booklist

      There is only one exception, Sandra, which is only available on the website for now.

  29. Hey, MOD, please tell Ilona and Gordon I’m listening to the GraphicAudio versions of Sweep in Peace and loving the hell out of it! Clean Sweep was marvelous too. Folks, if you haven’t bought those, you really should. They are SO good. The performances are terrific. I love the narrator, and the chef is hysterical. I own the Audibles of the books too, but the full cast is a different experience. There is also sound effects and music, too. Kind of like the old radio shows, not that even I am old enough to remember those. Anyway, definitely worth the $10.

  31. What truly sucks is that the POVs are not in the kindle ebook version, despite the description stating they would be. I bought for that alone, and while there are great new stories, I want Jim’s POV and the grocery shopping list! WAAAAAAAA!

      The POVs, including Jim and the grocery lists, are in the ebook version. Are you sure you have updated the content?
