The photo looks like a blend of Walt Longmire by Craig Johnson and Joe Pickett by C.J. Box. I normally avoid anything with a cowboy hat, but this is very nice music. Is there a particular part of your writing where this music works for you?
I think the pic looks more like Micheal Whelan’s Dark Tower set than anything else. As for the music? Totally not my style. So no comment about that from me. ?
That’s definitely Roland looking at the Dark Tower!
Nice! Brings to mind those Chinese or Japanese epic period films…or Firely the TV series..space western.
Firefly was what I was thinking…I liked it!
Definitely Firefly FTW!!
It’s the flute.
Yup, it brings to mind Firefly! Western & Asian combined! Damn, I loved that series, wish they’d made at least a 2nd season
That’s what I thought! If you click on the picture it tells you the name. It’s a western named “Lone Wanderer”
You might also like the soundtrack for the movie Kubo and the Two Strings. It has the same flavor, also a version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” that George Harrison probably would have loved.
Oh, thank you for this earworm.
Usually when I see Roland Deschain thumbnail I expect something somber… This is fun. ๐
Thank you for the amazing piece of music. I guess because I have Wildfire on the brain, why do I see Rogan as the gunslinger coming to defend what’s his?
I realize everyone has different tastes in music, but I have a recommendation. “Warriors” by Imagine Dragon. It’s one of their singles. There are times I’m listening to that song I think of Hugh and what’s left of his Iron Dogs. ๐
The beginning of it reminds me of the music for the old spaghetti westerns ๐
Ghost Riders in the Sky,,, very very similar
Ghost Ronin in the Sky ๐
Ennio Morricone did a lot of Clint Eastwoods’ westerns. The music also reminded me of those westerns.
Yes! Thanks – I couldn’t remember the name ๐
Me too. I loved the spaghetti westerns when I was a kid.
Very nice. Have you ever listened to R. Carlos Nakai? He makes his own flutes out of clay and records his playing in box canyons with the sound echoing off of the walls. It is hauntingly beautiful.

Hauntingly beautiful is right, thanks for the link!
Thanks for sharing this with us.
Antti Martikainen’s music is very good! You might also try these artists…
Peter Crowley
Two Steps From Hell
The Immediate
Ditto on the Two Steps from Hell. I enjoy exercising to epic music. Some of the soundtracks for video games (which I do not play) are also spectacular. I’ll have to look into Peter Crowley and The Immediate. I really like most of Veigar Margeirsson’s “Rise Above” album.
May I ask what you’re writing? The Hugh book? What is the soundtrack for fighting scenes?
Oh, I really enjoyed that! Have to confess thst it reminded me of kungfu panda… ?
Yes! Now that you said it I totally see it.
Yes, quite fun! ๐
You introduce me to the best stuff. Thank you. XD
Heijaa for Finland!
Loved the picture. Thanks. The music seemed to fit the picture, other worldly.
??
Its not boring! I probably wouldn’t listen to it in my car though or when cleaning the house. Maybe I’ll try it at work. We’re allowed to listen to music but not sing and I have a hard time not humming along or singing super quietly. Something without words but engaging could be the key! Thanks for Sharing Ilona!

His name screamed FINNISH at me… and yep! He’s Finnish. I love seeing my people getting props out in the world.
I have always enjoyed that type of music. It would not be one which I would work with, it is one where I would stop to dream.
reminds me of the clint eastwood Italian spaghetti westerns.
Have you heard of the Yoshida Brothers? They’re wonderful at mixing East with West.
Hey everyone. Not sure if you guys know but right now Kate Daniels is in the finale for Alphashowdown against Mercy Thompson with the Vampire Book Club. She made all the way to the end and is battling Mercy Thompson. Just an FYI in case people are interested.
Gotta vote for our girl Kate. Congrats Ilona and Gordon.
Curran made it far but had to battle his honeybunch and I will just think he had to let her win.
