Tor released This Kingdom for preorder and did not warn us. We found out 30 minutes ago, and Mod R tells me that the links are already up in Discord and fan groups. BDH: zero chill.

The EBOOK is up everywhere.

The PRINT EDITION is up at other places but not up on Amazon US because Amazon US only allows hardcover preorders in 300 day window before release. Most other country Amazons already have it (UK, Canada, Germany etc). It should be up everywhere some time in the summer. We will remind you again when we have the cover. THERE WILL BE A PRINT EDITION.

The AUDIO is not up anywhere except BN because it has not been recorded yet. The book is still being copyedited. THERE WILL BE AN AUDIO EDITION.

Trekking thru Nav IS the closest the BDH gets to chill. Not that we’ve been to Nav, nope. W*it! What does the R stand for?!? So many questions…

        Will paperbacks have sprayed edges, or just hardcovers? Both will b coming out, right? Is there any equivalent of sprayed edges with the electronic version? (Resumes excited jumping up & down.)

    • Pre-ordered! Re-reading Wilmington at the moment. All the re-reads will get me through to March 2026 😀

      We don’t have information at the moment on any special/collector/box editions.

    • The DRM is put there at the request of the publisher, and so the publisher can specify whether they want an ebook to be DRM-free 🙂 .
      Tor regularly sell their books as DRM free, as they find it a restriction on end-user freedom. This means you can download the ebook and read it across devices – with limitations specific to retailers only.

    • Yes! Got my pre-order in with Amazon Kindle. Release date can’t come too soon for me. Thank you again, Ilona and Gordon, for creating worlds we can escape to, and characters we can love and cheer for.

    • I’m sure it’s just a typo – they meant to write ‘chili’. Like ‘these news are hot as chili’ 😉

  32. Amazon UK seem to have ignored the 300 dayrule. The kindle (ebook version is shown as being published on 31st Mar 2026 at a price of £12.63). It has also reached the dizzy hights of 608 in the Epic Fantasy list.

    The HardBack Print version is slated to be out on the same date at the heavier price of £21.41 for its stated 480 pages. No mention of coloured page edging, but if you have a todler, I’m sure they will be happy to oblige. For some unknown reason it has only risen to 1250 on the Epic Fantasy book list. Does this mean that those who prefer the physical format are twice as slow off the mark as their digital brethren ?

    • That brings up an interesting question… Is the 608 position just from Amazon UK purchases or all Amazon purchases?

      • Interesting thought. Having checked not only are they different, but they are volatile. The US site shows 389 and 989. whereas the UK site now shows 714 and 1455. Perhaps they will settle down nearer the publishing date.

        • Why do you have to import from the U.K., Ula? If the hardcover doesn’t appear in your country’s Amazon, it’s because of the 300 day policy, you just need to wait 🙂

  50. Preordered the Kindle book. I wish Amazon had a tracker so every time I tried to preorder again it would say: “You ordered this book on 04/23/2025. This is the 67th time you’ve come back to try to order it again.” 😄 (I forget for sure, so I check it each time it’s mentioned or I think about it.)

    I tend to do mostly ebooks (I’m in negative shelf space), but this one will probably warrant a real copy. (By the way, I love all my special editions from IA so far! Just still trying for the unicorn Innkeepers Vol 1. 🤞🏻)

    • It is a little too early for that 🙂

      Tor will be deciding on the release events and all the extras available closer to date in 2026 and we will of course keep everyone informed.

    • Kobo has it cheaper than Amazon Australia. 29.99 vs 36.70 for the ebook. It’s Ilona Andrews and that is the only reason I would pay that much for an ebook. (Also the exchange rate is making ebooks expensive).

If it is driven to the top of a “New releases in fantasy” list and people who know nothing of the authors see that the book is not available for a year, will this still boost reaching a new audience?     • That would be something retailer-specific 🙂 , doubt authors would be able to control it.

  139. Usually order your books as soon as they’re listed as available. However…I’m in my 80’s, and while in good health, don’t know if I’ll be around by NEXT YEAR to receive your next book, no matter how eagerly awaited. Why so far in the distance?

    • Maggie is a traditionally published series. That means the publishing house dictates the schedule, and it is influenced by a lot of factors, including several round of edits, cover creation, marketing, publicity, the publisher’s printing queue etc 🙂

    does anyone know why the Google Play e-book is $5 more expensive than in any other e-store? It shows me price tag of 484,39 Kč, which should be around 22 USD according to a quick Google search. I mean… maybe it is the currency exchange problem, I don’t know.

    It’s a bummer though. I like keeping my books in one app, so I usually buy them there, but now it seems that I’ll have to switch to a new app.

    • Retailers control their own pricing, so I’m afraid no one can help here 🙁
