German-speaking BDH, deutsche Maggie has arrived!
Officially, the German edition of THIS KINGDOM WILL NOT KILL ME from Cove Verlag releases on September 25th. Unofficially, no one keeps Maggie in a corner!
Copies are already making their way into readers’ hands, and the hardcover is currently showing as available to order from German retailers like Thalia and international ones like Blackwell’s.
Please do check the language before ordering – although the publishers have made the decision to preserve the original title, this edition has German translation text inside. Availability and international shipping will depend on the retailer and destination.
The German edition is a deluxe hardcover, with specially designed dustjacket and themed sprayed edges. I particularly love this inscription, which my rudimentary Siebenbürgisch-Sächsisch tells me says: “This isn’t a story. This is reality”.
Going to the Frankfurt Book Fair?
There’s an extra treat for anyone attending the Frankfurt Book Fair, October 7–11.
Cove are bringing a giant 3D version of the book to their photo spot in Hall 4.0, J2, so visitors can quite literally step into Maggie’s world!
Judging by the preview, it is large enough to accommodate even the BDH Higgra-like instinct of immediately climbing onto things. We want all the attentions! If any of you are going to Frankfurt, please take pictures so we can vicariously enjoy the giant Kair Toren.

(I have not read it yet, I will wait for part 3 to be released to start with reading them, part one is here at home at ‘waiting’, the genres involved are usually not my thing, but I hope to get into with all of them present, yes it’s not logical, but the ‘heart’ is not always logical)
Here’s my question… What do they do with that giant book after all the TKWNKM touring and advertising rounds end?

I don’t normally bother with German translations from English but I think this might be the exception.
I wonder if they translate the word names, and we will have Klee instead of Clover.
No it will be “Aster” and not “Klee” in the german edition. Cove did a statement about this on instagram at this post

There is their explanation:
Clover became Aster in German because the text explicitly explains the naming pattern — flowers/plants in her case — so we needed a name that would work as a plant name for German readers while still feeling like a plausible name in Rellas. The literal German translation, “Klee,” would have sounded odd as a name, while Aster keeps the botanical idea without jumping out quite so much.
Since Rellas is its own fantasy world and not based on an English-speaking real-world setting, simply keeping the English name “Clover” would not have been consistent either.

Congratulations. I wonder when the Spanish version will arrive; I’ve been waiting for it since early June. It’s already been delayed twice—now it’s coming out in 19 October.
Silent German lurker at the BDH fringes here and first of all great translation ModR! I’ll already have the signed UK version and devoured it twice bc obviously I’m loving it to pieces. I’m so excited that I’m visiting a Thalia store in Berlin this weekend where’s this huge book is currently displayed. My lovely friend whom I gladly infected with the HA fever last year will be joining me for fun pictures and will buy the sprayed edges version. And greedy as I am I might buy my first German copy of a HA book too. Who doesn’t need Maggie as ebook, audio book and two real books in two languages. I think it’s reasonable BDH behavior.
Where would I find it? I live in Berlin and would love to take a picture because not going to Frankfurt book Fair 🙁

Perhaps I should not say it here, but the News Are to good and I am so happy Right now. Thalia sells the German Edition in a special box.

The box is as gorgeous as the book, it has a Journal in the same design, which is empty and can be filled with your notes. On the Front it says, „Things that tried to kill me“. It also contains Louisa Preissler pictures of Maggie and Everard. Maggie as a card and Everard as a Slip-Over carton. It has not the original painting with the 3 Moons as Cover.
The box has a Price of 35€ and can be ordered on Thalia, as long as it is available.

I know it because I preorderd and it was deliverd fast with DHL and arrived earlier, before the publication Date.
There is also Candice Slater’s art of Maggie in front of Kair Toren on the inside of the slip over! It can be opened and showcased on the shelf. I love her art piece and was so happy they included both her and Luisas art. I didn’t expect that at all, I thought there would be two or three small goodies. And the notebook is gorgeous too!
So happy that we have the chance to get some art as well, I really hope we get the chance to buy Helenas as well, on vollum or otherwise.
We need this Box in the US! I would especially love to have the notebook of things that didn’t kill me….
Oh the temptation!! *grabby hands!!!!* especially the one with the book box on Thalia 😍😍😍 They don’t ship here *cries* … but the ones without the book box are a good price on Blackwells and you can also get this edition on Amazon UK too but it’s a bit more expensive there.

I have a friend obsessed with Harry Potter and everywhere she travels, she buys the first in the series in that language. She has 7 now.😂 I can see the BDH starting to collect that way. Hmmm, I’m in Germany, Maggie, Maggie, Maggie!!!!

So envious of Germans to have such a beautiful harcover edition!
In Czechia, Maggie comes out on 28th October and “only” as a paperback. Even though I read House Andrews books in English, I see it as an opportunity to make fans out of all of my friends and family members, so I will be definitely buying more than 3 copies :D. I also wrote to the Czech publisher (JOTA) how happy I am that they decided to pick up Maggie.
I hope that if Maggie will see some success in Czechia, other books by House Andrews will follow. We’ve only had Kate Daniels so far, all 10 books + Andrea’s book, and all in hardcover; but the covers haven’t been exactly eye-catching, so not many people know about it… (I still somehow managed to persuade a friendly acquaintance of mine to read it and she became an instant fan!)

What do the last two lines of the post translate to in English? I could probably pronounce some of the words, from years of singing in German in chorus (everything written in phonetically), but I don’t know any German. Thanks!!
