Update: here is the ARC link.
The ARCs of BLOOD HEIR will go live on Netgalley on 12/01/2020, so tomorrow. We anticipate a high volume of requests, so please be patient.
Here is what an early ARC reader had to say.
I read it and there’s great news & not so good news.
The great news is that this book is going to be a hit. Thanks to you folks, 2021 will start out with a huge bang… The not-so-good news is that fans and readers (including me) will be clamoring for a sequel and a proper series…
O_O
So good news, bad news. Again, Netgalley stuff goes up some time tomorrow. Fingers crossed everything works and the book is fun. 🙂

Ahhh I have to be mentally prepared for Blood Heir. The anticipation before release date, the excitement when finally getting my hands on the book, then the immense strength and patience needed to wait for another book by the author. Can’t wait! Come what may!!
Emily Newman says
I’ve never used NetGalley – how do I find Blood Heirs and will it work for the UK???
I needs to know ????????
Tink says
One of these days I’ve got to see what’s involved in getting Netgalley.
Breann says
I think you have to be a librarian, bookseller, literary blogger, or something in that type of field, but I could be wrong. I know that I looked into it and I didn’t meet the criteria.
They may take others, but if I remember correctly, you won’t get approved for an ARC of such a popular book without being in those fields.
Sleepy says
Sometimes they will also give you an arc if you have a lot of friends/followers on a site like Goodreads.
I used to request back when I was active on Goodreads, but I stopped bothering because honestly I never got it lol ????
I’ll just wait impatiently for January 🙂
Betul says
OMG!! I will be stalking Netgalley tomorrow! 🙂
Rif says
So good news twice in that it’s a great book and so wonderful that it opens possibility for more…win win! Thanks for your amazing books Ilona and Gordon, they are really a great source of comfort to me; every year, but this one in particular. Wishing you and your family all the best for a healthy and happy festive period.
Siobhan says
Is that REALLY such bad news? It’s not for US.
Elizabeth Shoemaker says
Honestly, did you expect any other result? People are LOVING Blood Heir. You have this way of drawing us in, every time you start a new story. I don’t care what it takes, even if it means we have to fundraise for HouseAndrews to get weekly massages and trips to a spa, I will fight for Aurellia’s story to be told.
J says
I for one will happily donate to a spa fund ????
Amanda Po says
Good luck xx
Ashley says
The great thing about the future is that while you say you’re not going to be making a series, things can change, its never written in stone. So while I accept Julie’s story is not the priority, I hold hope for the future. Thanks for what you do. I’m off to stalk Amazon and see if the Canadian dead tree version is available to preorder yet.
Chantay Hadley says
Yep. It’s gonna be a hit. I have no doubt. And then we will wine and beg. I have no doubt about that too. Now I’d I just knew how to make time go faster… ????
Merve says
I want it, most probably I won’t get it. 2 months are nothing. I will bear it. I cannot want it to be published! So excited!!!
Myra says
I haven’t bought a physical (not e-book) is so long; but I figured I needed a hard copy of this one!! Ahhh so excited for Julieeee!!
Jenn says
Well I’m not surprised at the “bad news.” After the first chapters! It IS going to be fun! All that intrigue and powerful magic!
John says
I remember you posting saying there were no promises on a series b/c it might not be successful. I laughed so hard I cried. As if you’d ever write a book that wasn’t amazing. I wish amazon would just let me automatically pre-order everything you write instead of doing it manually. You’re the only authors I have absolute faith in never letting me down with even average work.
John says
And just to clarify, I’d never try to tell you what to write or expect you to continue a series you don’t want. I thought it was funny that anything you write wouldn’t be a massive success. I reread all your books at least once a year. As long as you keep writing anything ill be happy.
MagicTrix says
I’m with John. While a series is always nice, I’m good with anything you decide to write, whether it’s Kinsmen, Innkeeper, or whatever your heart desires. I know I’ll be a happy camper!
jewelwing says

Joanne says
That’s the best kind of bad news 🙂 Excited that there’s something good to look forward to on the horizon!!
Jukebox says
And prequels and everything in between >.<
Breann says
Ohhhhhhh! Prequels! ????
Marie S says
That sounds very promising. So excited for this story and its success. But really IA, what else can you expect; it’s your book.
kommiesmom says
Really?! You are worried any book of yours won’t be a hit?
I know you two are humble and never conceited, but it is okay to be confident.
The rest of us are secure in the knowledge that you guys ROCK! I have at least two copies of every book you have put out. (Three in a few cases.) Books that are less than awesome just don’t get that from me.
Thank you for new book (whenever I get it), and here’s hoping you feel like another one or so. But only if you want to, no matter how we whine.
Stay safe and healthy, please, for the sake of the BDH’s blood pressure, and have a great holiday season.

Thank you for all the hours of enjoyment, past and future, for sharing your gift of imagination with us.

E says
I have been clamoring for a series and I haven’t read an ARC yet. Hope you enjoyed being back in the Kate Daniel’s world as much as us.
So excited!! Thanks for giving us something to look forward to.
Sharon says
Thank you for all your hard work! You are both very appreciated????
Simone says
Congrats on the great news! I am personally excited for it to come out and my secret Christmas wish is for it to become a series 😉 We were already having fun with the book and with the editing I am sure it will be even better 🙂
Sarah says
Wonderful! Thank you
Tori says
Yay!!
Everything will be fine. ????????
Diane McConnell says
I’m checking for it tomorrow!
Susan Reynolds says
It is Not Bad News that people love your books and want you to write more of them. Congratulations on making our lives happier! Yay you for doing such a competent job! Sit down and smile for a while…..
Nancy says
So excited for this book to come out. A little over a month. We can do this.
Louise says
Loved the first chapters, LOVED the newer snippets, can’t imagine how the finished book will be anything but a home run!
I wish for you and your family a peaceful and refreshing holiday season.
Thank you both SO MUCH for continuing to produce such wonderfully engaging and layered stories.
Amanda H says
I love the “good news, bad news” bit! I’m sure it is a LOT of pressure every single time a new book comes out, but I hope that you can find that moment that lets you feel the love, too.
Lauren says
So what benchmark do your fans have to hit to encourage the idea of House Andrews self-publishing more titles? I love your cover artist choice btw.
Lauren says
And by ‘more titles’ I mean ‘whatever story strikes House Andrews fancy’. Not specifically an existing series.
Jamie says
Glad I decided to take a shorter “vacation” this December. Now I have some days in the bank to properly use when this book comes out!
TWAndrews says
Super excited for this book, and that there’s a chance of it becoming a series.
I love the KD world, and really love seeing areas beyond Atlanta, which I’d guess we’d get from a Blood Heir series.
The only downside to me is that I imagine it would delay the High books that I am also waiting eagerly for. But since House Andrews indicated that’s a dark book and not one the world is facilitating the headspace to write right now, it’s sounds like Hugh 2 is delayed in any case.
I really want to see what New Shinar is like and see more of the internal politics of the Order!
Joe says
Hope I make it, my apartment building has the virus in it, looking for the vaccine at start of the year, am high risk but also outlier. Really looking forward to book.
jewelwing says
Stay safe Joe! Here’s hoping the vaccine makes it to you before the virus does. Please take care of yourself.
Zirraella says
There you go. We need a series 🙂
Marcia Sundquist says
Never doubted the story would be any but great.
Élodie says
I am sorry but I do not understand what ARC is supposed to mean, in my work we use it as a French abbreviation of “order acknowledgement” hence my confusion ????
Could someone explain please ? ????
Arijo says
Advanced Reader Copy. So that bloggers & critics are ready to hit the road critiquing when the book is officially out.
So ARC in French is for… accusé de réception?
Arijo says
Attend, mon cerveau vient de débloquer: accusé de réception de commande! Wow, ça m’aura pris un café et demi ????
Precisions to my earlier comment: ARCs are also for promotional purpose – to get bloggers and others to talk about your book if you’re less known; in Ilona Andrews’ case, it’s more about a happy few getting their hands early on an eagerly awaited book 😉
Élodie says
Hahaha oui accusé de réception, dans mon boulot on l’abrège par ARC ????
Thank you very much for your answer ????
NJ says
Well I have been rooting for the series since the idea first came around ????
Gloria says
Pleasepleasepleaseplease? Or could you let guest authors try to do sequels? Really good ones? You guys are so wonderful. The next project will be like this too. Great writing.
Breann says
I’m not an author, but I would imagine that letting somebody else write sequels to your books would be painful. You’d have no control over what happened to your babies and they might take it in a different direction that you don’t like and then you can’t go back later and write more because the story went off the rails (and exploded in a fiery crash). I know some authors are ok with it, but it seems rather risky. ????
jewelwing says
I don’t think most writers let anyone write for them until they’re dead, if then, with the exception of a very few like Andre Norton. Authors will occasionally invite others to do short stories in their world for an anthology, but I can’t see most authors authorizing entire books in their own universe. Selling film and TV rights is harrowing enough.
Alice says
We all knew that was coming!!!
Sam says
That cover takes my breath away every time. So gorgeous.
Lisa says
Pfffttt, like everybody and their mother didn’t know that everybody would be clamoring for more as soon as this one was started. This is not news. ????????♀️
jewelwing says
Seriously.
Donna A says
Obviously we want a sequel. I haven’t read any of it yet and I want a sequel. We are demanding book loving fiends – if there is one book we want another book.
There can never be enough books! Mwah-ha-ha-ha!!
Bill G says
Being quite unqualified to receive one, I can only congratulate those who do get them.
Patricia Schlorke says
When the ARCs come out, it’s not much longer for the rest of us. 😀
To those who are eligible to read the ARC, have lots of fun reading.
For the rest of the BDH: is it January yet? 😉
To Ilona and Gordon: whatever you decide to do after this book is out, whether continue or not to continue, is your decision. Even though we are the book devouring horde, if you decide not to continue with Julie’s book due to other commitments, that’s ok.
Verslint says
Sorry House Andrews, you are just too awesome….. ????
Karen Stewart says
For us stupid people what is ARC?
Katherine says
Advanced Readers copy
Lila says
I’m really looking forward to it. 😀
Judy Schultheis says
Fans are already clamoring for a series. I’ve been trying to be polite about it, but nonetheless, ….
Betul says
Looks like I can only ‘Wish For It’ 🙁
Kirsten says
I don’t even see it listed yet.
Sonya says
It’s not showing up for me either. I’m uncertain if it’s only for a select type of reader. I’m a library director, so maybe it’s only available for booksellers or bloggers?
Betul says
It wasn’t listed for me either but Ilona Andrews has posted a direct Netgalley link to the book: https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/book/210237
anne says
Thank you , just managed to ‘wish’ for it .
I don’t know why it does not show up on the site
when you input the Author’s name !
Elisa says
Congratulations. Happy to wait for the official release. You write. I’ll buy/read ????.
njb says
❤️???? what can I say, I’ve been counting down the days since I pre-ordered – on the first day the link was up. I have zero doubts it will be a hit.
Margaret R says
Do you think you could provide a little snippity snip for us poor souls not qualified for Netgalley?????
Sleepy says
Is there any plans to do a similar collab with an independent bookstore for Blood Heir? I would love to order a paper copy, but just wanted to check before I placed the order from Amazon.
Robin says
Since I won’t bug you guys about emailing I just had to say that I am so effing impressed that you managed to put together Blood Heir in such a seemingly short period of time. The fact that you are setting the date and actually KEEPING it, astounds me. I have pre-orders from other “big authors” who have pushed back their release dates 6 and 7 times for their next book, and that just sucks.
Thanks for the hard work and the great upcoming read! – I wished the ARC, but really am not in a big hurry, I can wait- a month and a half will fly by!
Regina says
Thank you for the new Julie book!
(And the new series we’ll soon be clamoring for -lol)
I hope you guys have a wonderful day despite the anticipation associated with the onslaught of rave reviews.
(((Hugs!)))
Sue F says
Just wondering, will the ARC be available to request on NetGalley for all NG reviewers, or just for those House Andrews has pre-approved?
Terri says
awww ( and other whining noises) I was hoping to get more Inn Keeper books. I really need to find out what happened to their parents. PLUS this series gives you a chance to do some really funny guest interactions.
Thomas Coakley says
Will this be available in audible soon? My wife and I like to listen to your books together first and then read them again separately. 🙂
Christina says
Oh my. That makes it even more intriguing!
A says
*sigh* – the link tells me it is currently not available in my region (Canada). This makes me sad. I will wait (patient-ish) until January.
Lília Visser says
Just managed to get connected, but it was only available as Wish for it. Ah well, if it does work out, will have to wait for January anyway.
Amy says
I will read anything that you write. Your works are wonderful.
anne says
As of today( 3rd December am) = its still not on NetGalley to request – but never mind I’ve alreay pre-ordered it , so will have to wait for publication
Lucinda says
This waiting is driving me crazy! I know intellectually that you two are writing as fast as you can BUT I am waiting. Please!
Judith R. says
Hi! I tried to contact you by instagram but since my account is private I don’t know if you could answer me.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I just got Blood Heir! I bought the printed version in Amazon Spain. I was amazed that it wasn’t on presale, but it did arrive. I don’t know if this is pure luck, a mistake by amazon or what.
Just wanted to let you know 😉
I can’t wait to finish work and start reading it!*____*
