I said it on Twitter, this is … well, it’s better than amazing! This is so close to my mental picture of Curran…
I am simply in awe… =)
Catlover says
I like her work and envious of her talent. Some amazingly talented people in this world!
Ms. Kim says
Ohhh. I thought it was Lion Curran looking at Derek.
Jenn D. says

Gidget says
Gorgeous!
Keera says
I saw some pics and Subterranean Press had a snippet on their FB page yesterday. And I called my hubby for the millionth time to make sure he did preorder a copy for me. I am so excited for this book!
Simone says
*sigh*
Just wanted to order, but… but… shipping… ;__;
$75 for the book, $59 for shipping to Germany… >.>
My Dears, I love you and your books very, very much, but that’s just… too much. ;___;
Kim says
Yep, I had that with a previous book. I had finally convinced myself I needed a $75 book. But I backed out at the shipping cost.
Ilona says
No pressure to buy. 🙂 This is an expensive book for serious collectors. ::waves paws:: I think that after the book is release, there will be prints available, too, if you just want artwork and it’s much more reasonable.
Lisa says
Here kitty kitty
KC says
Curran is really looking like Gordon…
This amuses me. I now want to see him wearing cat ears at a book signing.
*Cackles maniacally*
Truly this is amazing artwork, and it’s purrfect.
Keera says
I thought this as well. Glad I’m not the only one.
Aly P says
WOW!!!!
Jon says
Wearing pack sweats. A great touch!
Billie Dee says
Majestic.
Michelle says
Beautiful.
Can I say that about Curran?
Maybe I should say strikingly handsome instead.
Tink says
So, you going to be able to get her to do your covers for future works, because she’s pretty much hitting your characters dead-on?
Tiger Lily says
Lovely artwork.
Ruth Ray says
Very excellent visual for Curran. Kudos to the artist!
Shreya k says
Love, love, love this…
Shreya k says
I’m in love… again.
H says
First! (Hopefully!) Plus, pretty!
H says
… and now I see all the other comments that didn’t show up before ????♀️
Gaëlle says
Lol
JR says
Just to have the art I would buy this. The illustrations done for your stories are always beautiful
JR says
It makes me feel like a teenager for wanting the artwork as posters to stick all over my bedroom wall
Tisiphone says
Sound reasonable.
Sonia says
I imagine Curran as Jason Mamoa, if you ever make a movie from Kate’s series please consider it????
Sonia says
Momoa (sorry)
Patricia Schlorke says
I can see him as Hugh too. There are looks he gives in Aquaman that could be considered Hugh looks.
jewelwing says
He would have to dye his hair for Curran.
I can’t really get enthusiastic about Momoa since he got offended that his female costar was reading, and ripped pages out of her book. Dick move if ever there was one.
Chelsy says
Pardon me while I go reread all of KD ????
Kelly B says
I know! This art is perfect! It totally made my day!
Claudia says

Wendyk says
Not at all how I visualize Curran. That’s what I love about books though. We can create our own mental picture of each character based on the author’s descriptions.
Lynn fitz says
Perfect
Karen says
The is fantastic! Makes me want said book terribly.
Lorie says
It’s SO nice to see a depiction of Curran in his lion form as GRAY lion. I’d love to see a side view with the stripes, too! This is a fantastic image! Thank you for sharing!
akk says
Will the artwork be in a new electronic ebook version as well? (I am not allowed to buy any more physical books.)
Caleigh Gregory says
SO EXCITED!!! Got mine ordered! Please let us know if any more of the signed lettered edition become available. I shouldn’t have hesitated and just pre-ordered it but paying for college doomed me *shakes fist at university*.
Jean-ann Stump says
Will there ever be another edition of the Innkeeper Chronicles Volume One? I missed out on the first edition.
kommiesmom says
Fabulous! Nailed Curran in both shapes.
Just wow.
Sarah Webber says
Words don’t make pictures for me. So thanks for awesome pictures.
Amy says
Huh. So that’s what he looks like.
I have a pretty clear image of Kate in my head but Curran was pretty much just greyish blonde fur on legs, with a gaping maw who constantly roared. And yet I shipped the hell out of him and Kate. I might be an unconscious furry.
Jane C. from NOLA says
I think that looks like Gordon! (I always suspected that K & C were based on I & G!) Ilona is probably an expert swordsman, too!
Margaret says
Wow! That is gorgeous. And that is close to Curran in my head. I’m glad the art will be available separately eventually. I would definitely buy it!
Shiloh says
I’m so ridiculously happy I ordered a copy.
Cristina says
♡ INCREDIBLE ♡
jewelwing says
Gorgeous!
Patricia Schlorke says
Wow! So happy I pre-ordered the book. ☺️
Jill says
I’m dead. Just dead. This is so perfect.
Tink says
Does Louisa have any versions where Curran’s hair is long, like when there’s a flare? I’d love to see him with a full mane.
Patricia Schlorke says
Or when Curran kept eating all the demi gods in Magic Triumphs. His hair got really long then.
Mar says
Reminds of the Rutger Hauer character in the original release of Blade Runner..near the end when he is in the rain.
Sarah Jackson says
Thank you!! I knew he reminded me of someone but was groping for who it was…Not really how I pictured Curran in my head, but then again it strikes a chord, so I may have to adjust my mental landscape 🙂
Wendy S says
Stunning scene. Stunning Rutger. The only movie of him that I saw where they let Rutger act, which he could seriously do, and not just swing a sword and look gorgeous .
Faith Freewoman says
I thought Rutger Hauer did some fine acting in Ladyhawke, too. Although he was also gorgeous swinging his sword and, yum!, especially on that incredible horse of his. Actually, the best-looking male in that movie was Hauer’s stallion. Awesome.
cmc says
Amazing!
Keera says
I thought this as well. Glad I’m not the only one.
Faith Freewoman says
OMG, that is THE sexiest, most dangerously compelling image ever, ever, ever. Wow. I’ve gotta go back and read all the Kate/Curran books again, right this minute, with that image dominating the movie screen my mind. Wooooo (fanning self).
Monica Martin says
Wow… that’s totally purrrfect! My Curran. Lol
Stephanie says
YESSSS!!!
Lynne says
Beautiful & an excellent depiction of his spirits
Gaëlle says
Oh my God, just perfect !
Christina says
If I weren’t in the midst of dealing with an elderly father about to enter hospice due to stage 4 prostate cancer, a possible spread of my own cancer, and disability from spinal disease keeping me on a very fixed income from disability, I’d be all over buying a copy. The artist is tremendously talented and the artwork matches what I’ve pictured in my head when reading the stories. Fantastic job on bringing Kate and Curran to visual life and, of course, making already mesmerizing stories that much more vivid. Bravo to you all!
Rebecca says
Gorgeous!!
Aman says
I keep re-reading the books and I was so thankful for God of Fire.
Monica says
So amazing! It is nice to see his human side as well as the lion!
Judy B says
Wow, great art.
Will it be possible to purchase that as a poster perhaps?
Alex says
That lion looks like he has a sense of humor. 😀
Great art, thanks for sharing!
CORRINA says
Here kitty, kitty, kitty.
Steve L says
I love it. this series truly is my favourite addiction I have read most of them so many times I can quote sections of dialog.the pic as great. if only he will live forever like kate
Vanessa says
Wow. I just can’t stop looking at it. This is everything Curran and I’ve just fallen in love with him all over again! The broken nose, the short hair, the ripped gray hoodie, and the EYES (on both man and lion). Ow, my heart.
Karen Davis says
This picture is so completely amazing. I also would like to know if it could be purchased. Hats off to the artist!
Nancy says
I see hints of Gordon in Curran. I’m looking forward to the books release.
Kylie in Aust says
hello
the excerpt with Julie, Kate and Curran moving into the new house, has that been released (put on the blog) before?
I had a quick look and couldn’t see it.
thanks
Keera says
Yeah, I dont think it was finished though. Maybe the rest is in the book!
Blue says
????
I wish the series wasn’t over. I long to read more about Kate and Curran and the crew. Makes my heart ache. That and I want to take a bath with Kate and Curran at the same time à la Magic Strikes, but not truncated.
Tania says
Damn that’s awesome!!
Sharon Yool says
The eyes are hypnotic. You can definitely see the alpha in both man as well as animal.
MRB says
I do like those eyes. The headlights are on!
Gundega says
Oooooooh, that looks gorgeous! And do indeed immediately tells you it’s Curran – both of ’em 😀
Christina says
Wow. Just, wow.
Lisa Pepper says
It tickles me that his nose has that bump from having been broken…
kariell says
I’m late to the comment train here, but I wanted to say thank you for posting this. This art really helped me to visualize a character with whom I really had some trouble. Specifically, I couldn’t visualize the description that Curran also looked like he was a hair from violence and that he would be very competent in handling everything that came toward him. This art was really effective at communicating both of those things and I can now have a great picture of him in my mind when reading the books. Again, thank you!
Lila says
Oh, wow, all collector edition art pieces you shared are beyond beautiful.
Louisa Preissler did a great job.
Marilyne says
I love your males pov. I would love to have more:
Curran… when Kate “dies”. His hunt for divine beasts…
Rogan… i wish we could read his side of when they watch Cornelius’s Wife’s death, the charity gala Nevada breaking Vincent but most of all either when she wakes up with Rynda trying to get Connor back or the trials
Alessandro… the trials or when he saw her profil and she deletes it. When he realise she is in the abandoned mall all alone….
