Electricity Ferrets Snippet

Blog, Free Fiction, Hidden Legacy POST A COMMENT November 26, 2025 by Moderator R

Warning: this post contains a Hidden Legacy world bribe snippet.

Once upon a time, there was a viral ferret video…

♬ Cena Engraçada e Inusitada – HarmonicoHCO

A certain Horde I know and love saw this and then decided their fellow BDH and House Andrews had to see it too.

So they shared it. And they shared it some more. Approximately 18 times an hour across email, Facebook, Instagram, and some very impressive astral projection straight to Nav.

I’m here to officially confirm the electricity ferret has been witnessed hehe. You may now stand down. You have done your duty. The message has been received. Please rest your weary sharing fingers.

As a thank-you for your understanding, the very generous House Andrews have written us a brand-new Hidden Legacy world snippet inspired by electrical ferrets and the Horde’s undaunted enthusiasm. Welcome Marty!

The electrical ferret will live on in our hearts (and forever in my notifications).

Right. I’m just going to tear up here about two babies who lost their mothers. Give my babies an extra cuddle.

Also I can’t believe you just dropped the classic romance “Cold Unfeeling wolf-like” male character without even giving g us his name.

    …….Spin off?

    • Syd says

      November 26, 2025 at 1:05 pm

Must be a retcon. I have read Hidden Legacy and nowhere is there an uncle or brother in the Harrison family.

      • Moderator R says

        November 26, 2025 at 1:10 pm

Firstly, I have to say, love the confidence 😀

        Also:

“If you look right here, in your payroll, you will see a gentleman by the name of Blake Harrison listed as an independent contractor. You will also see that Blake Harrison is paid nine thousand nine hundred and ninety dollars in cash. The nine thousand nine hundred and ninety dollars number is very interesting because the IRS pays attention to any cash transaction in the amount of ten thousand dollars or above.”
“So what? Blake works for me.” Lie. “Blake Harrison’s net worth is close to twenty million dollars, so I very much doubt that. He does have a younger brother, Cornelius Harrison, a very nice man, who happens to be Adam Pierce’s childhood friend. You’re washing Adam’s money. His family makes a payment and you pass it on to Adam in cash, while Blake claims it on his taxes. You receive five hundred dollars in compensation via the second payment, two days later, once Adam gets his money.”
        – Ilona Andrews, Burn For Me – Hidden Legacy 1, page 69, Kindle edition

““When was the last time you saw Blake?” Cornelius asked.
“In person?” Diana frowned. “He usually emails. Six months? No, wait, a year. I ran into him at that abominable NCBA dinner last December.”
I got the push broom and scrubbed the chalk lines off the floor.
“Two years for me,” Cornelius said.
“He lives half an hour away,” Diana said.
“I know.” – Ilona Andrews, White Hot – Hidden Legacy 2, page 269, Kindle edition

“Behind me, Cornelius stood with his head bowed. Behind him, Diana and Blake, Cornelius’ older brother, waited quietly, eight jaguars sitting at their feet, three black and five golden. The big cats watched the night with their bottomless eyes. Matilda sat with the cats, a human child somehow part of their pack. I couldn’t figure out why everyone insisted on bringing her with us despite the danger. When I asked Diana about it, she just smiled.” – Ilona Andrews, Wildfire – Hidden Legacy 3, page 350 Kindle edition

        Emphasis mine 🙂

I have a vague memory of the name being “Reginald Harrison ” when talking about washing Adam’s money at the bike shop. Am I misremembering (likely) or did he have a name change in later years?

I love the snippet too. HL is my favorite series, so little insights are little presents to me.
Happy Thanksgiving! All of my family are gone but I am blessed with a good friend who has made me part of her ‘family’ and expects me to come on holidays. Besides fresh cranberry relish she asked to bring sweet potatoes. Found a really tasty recipe called Bourbon Sweet Potatoes – that you can substitute OJ for the bourbon. Not doing the topping, one person is allergic to nuts. I’m diabetic, so passing on the marshmallow toppings too. Very hard to find recipes for both no nuts and for diabetics. The search engines seem to think marshmallows are ok for diabetics. Go figure.

    • Breann says

      November 26, 2025 at 2:24 pm

I don’t know how well it will be received if they’re expecting a sweet potato casserole, but in our house we make mashed sweet potatoes (fresh, boiled, and mashed with butter, salt, and pepper, no milk) topped with caramelized onions. It’s really yummy and has no added sugar or nuts. Might need to ask the hostess though (if she’s already doing mashed potatoes, she might not want it). 🤗

Now I have tears in my eyes yet again for a little girl who lost her mother. And now add the ferret story and I am a mess, trying not to get tears in the sweet potato casserole. Pleassssssssssssse, more of that series??
Happy Thanksgiving to the BDH and House Andrews! One of the things I am most thankful for??, House Andrews and the amazing worlds I get get to visit every time I pick up one of their offerings.

Ahhhh, that was so sweet and a perfect Thanksgiving treat!! It made me realize I need to go back and reread the series again. As I get older (late 70’s) and with our crazy times, I find I have trouble reading books that have too much suspense or constant wallowing around in the character’s mind. And I think, why can’t they write more like Ilona Andrews! Somehow you two manage to engage me on multiple levels, plot, action, characters and humor! I am sooooo looking forward to the Kingdom release, and knowing it’s a really long book so my Andrews high will last for several days!!

Ferrets are extremely intelligent. The gov has used them in the past. Ferrets die young because of diet. They need an extremely high protein and not cat food. I had one the vet aged at 25 He died at 27. The vet in Florida is a specialist on ferrets and taught me a lot with mine.

Nope not a fan of the video. When he pushes the ferret down the hole, and the ferret was trying to push back to not go in the hole, and the man pushed him down into it anyways, that was the moment I said nope bad video. Don’t force the ferret to do human stuff it doesn’t need to be doing. There are tools and other ways to run the line.

    Great snippet!!

I love all the Baylors and their extended family (which includes everyone who lives on the compound as well as some who do not) so much.

Matilda is fascinating and I hope to read her grown-up adventures one day. See, in my head there will be three Arabella books (with maybe a transitional novella between Catalina’s last book and the start of Arabella’s), also an Augustine novella (or novel) and possible sequels for that, then Leon’s book(s) because you KNOW we need to see him get his true love, then Matilda’s books, and we just go on and on into forever. Arthur will be old enough to be a POV character one day…

I know, I know. TYPICAL Horde behavior! You give us a fun snippet and we confabulate that into a whole series of new novels as if you announced them in a press release! 🙂

For now, great snippet! THANK YOU!
