Since the retailers are throwing the preorder out there and we are getting questions about it, we have to follow through and let you know that Hidden Legacy, specifically Nevada’s trilogy, is getting a facelift.
These covers are not final but very close to what will go to the retailers. There maybe slight color changes and finetuning.
The new editions will be in trade paperback format around April of 2024.
Let us pause and wave goodbye to half naked dude covers.
…
Wooo! Free at last. The new covers are lovely and we hope people will enjoy placing these books on their shelves.
Update:
Pre-new covers BDH: My gods, these covers are appalling. Vomit emoji, vomit emoji, who would even read this crap based on the covers, ew.
Post-new covers BDH: Why would you change the covers, the original covers were better, we like the naked over-processed dudes…
Hehehe, we love you, BDH. Never change!
Tais S says
Oh, they’re so pretty!
Dorothy says
+1
Debbie B says
I kinda liked the original covers… just saying
Meredith says
My brother will appreciate it. We share a Kindle/Audible account and he was complaining about all the half-naked men on the covers of my books.
Thirza says

Arianna says
Nooo we want the dude with the Hello Kitty t-shirt back! White hot will never be the same without it!!!
Kimbeaux says
+1!
Lilach Yuzuk says
I can’t wait for the new covers even though I just finished buying all the old covers🤣🤣🤣
Kat says
Woohoo!
I have a certain affection for the OG covers but now I can read my paperback in front of my mother without worryibg what she thinks of me 😂
RJ says
+1
CarlaG says
These are beautiful, but we were all happy to put the original covers on our shelves as well!
Athena Knight says
Loving the new covers. Any chance the ebook covers will also change?
Laura Register says
Mine usually update when the new covers are released. So if your ebooks are through the ‘Zon, you’ll get them automatically.
Stefanie says
That would be great, I qould love to have the new covers!
Breann says
I really like those! While half naked dudes have their place 😉😄, I’m glad there’s a shift in book covers to be less “heaving bosoms and bare chests” on everything that might be considered romance. I think it might draw in more readers. 😊
Sara T says
I love these books whatever the cover maybe!
🙂
Kendra Townsend says
yay!!!
Jenn says
Beautiful!!! I like these so much!!! To me they accompany your other books/brand much better…
Ginni says
They really do.
Laurence says
Ohhh so pretty!!!
I love them, thank you for sharing
Patricia Schlorke says
I like the new covers. I like the covers I have now with the naked Rogan chest in Burn For Me, and the covered up Rogan chests on the other two covers. Speaking of naked Rogan chest, I just finished a re-read of Burn for Me. Now, I’m starting White Hot. Interesting timing on my part. 😉
Patricia Schlorke says
I think I’m going to my local Barnes and Noble store to buy the actual paperback copies of Burn for Me, White Hot, and Wildfire so I will have the original covers. I have a feeling B & N will change the covers next year on the Nook.
What’s that I hear? Is it the Horde storming the bookstore doors to get the original covers before April 2024? 😀
Wendy says
love the new covers! good bye dude. over you!
sarafina says
The new covers are beautiful. I bought these books as they came out in paperback, and have White Hot and Wildfire in hardback also off of eBay. I was hoping these were new hardback covers so I could pick up Burn for Me. Will you be having events to support this?
Moderator R says
Nothing is planned at this time, but we will be announcing any appearances here 🙂
Kristine says
😊
Kelly says
Time to invest in hard copies 😍
Meg says
Not gonna lie- covered one of mine in a paper bag cover.
Ally says
Me too!
Nancy H says
I don’t have a problem with the naked chests but the new covers are beautiful. I did have a problem with a broken Kindle maybe because I smacked some fighting dogs with it as that was in my hand at the time. The little shop fixed my Kindle but gave me a funny look for the books on the Home page. New rule don’t break up dog fight with Kindle
mz says
At least it broke for a good cause. I use the Kindle App on my iPad and I had to get a new iPad because I dropped it on the tile floor. It would have been more fun to give “breaking up dog fight” as a reason. (Though I only have cats)
Mary Carter says
Awesome! A much better representation of the series!
Angel says
Gorgeous covers!
SoCoMom says
Actually, I just purchased WH to give to my friend as a birthday gift. She does not usually read anything romance but I wrapped it in the Hello Kitty Man cover so she’d just have to read it to figure out what it’s all about 😀
Those are some mighty pretty covers for the next edition. Happy to see they got the carnations message got through!
Keera says
Maybe now I can get my oldest kid to read Hidden Legacy. Yes the shirtless dude on the cover stopped him. Even though he loves KD and Innkeeper books
wont says
Are the covers the only changes? As a rule, I ignore covers.
KJA says
Right, how many times the cover sucked me in and the book was TRASH…. I’m speaking from the self-publishing perspective. They have really good covers, but the writing is; more often than not bad, bad, bad…
MariaZ says
Are these the carnations that you wanted? They kinda look like carnations.
Kim Stewart says
OMG they’re CARNATIONS! That is so way cool! I was like what is the white thing, crystals, OHHH! And I started jumping up and down.
Love love love a relevant cover with specific symbology!
Stevie says
I’m so happy they got the carnations too! There have been discussion of cover recommendations and publishers not listening to what is relevant to the story for a while now, I’m glad to see what it was in regard to.
Lynn L says
Great covers. At least the others did not have chest only, no head, half nekkid guys. Can’t stand those.
Margot D says
Ah thank yoooooou !! Way better. WAY better.
It’s also really funny, cause I just finished drawing and bookbinding an alternative cover for BFM and am now on to WH. There are waves in the universe & spider-senses everywhere.
M says
Honestly… these are fine but I do prefer the old ones. I like the new Burn for Me and White Hot, but Wildfire looks odd. Maybe the photoshop isn’t as smooth/cohesive or something bc it looks a bit weird. The new White Hot is the best of the bunch. I hope new fans discover the series if they feel prejudiced against ab covers.
Question: is there a way to stop kindle from updating my ebooks to the new covers? I have updates turned off and the cover change still happens. 🙁
Moderator R says
These are not the final covers, as Ilona says in the post, so all details will be ironed out 🙂
Not syncing your content is usually the way to preserve old versions, but I’m not certain covers follow the rule, sorry.
Ruth says
Generally those are automatic updates, so unless you stop your “sync” it will happen automatically if you buy a new book. If you stop the sync then you’ll not have new books.
Di says
I did feel the old covers were a bit tacky but who cares? I’m not reading the cover, and the books are soooo good! Glad to see House Andrews has more say in things like cover art.
Diana Jones says
Is there any chance of a hardcover for Burn for me?
Moderator R says
Trade paperback is the only format confirmed, but we’ll ask 🙂 . Avon are not really in the hardback business. They put out a very limited number (mostly for libraries) and once those are gone, they’re gone, no reissue happens.
Ariel Vaughn says
Maybe we could petition SubPress to make a Special edition like they did with Innkeeper. That would be divine.
Moderator R says
We *are* getting pretty Innkeeper from Subterranean Press soon (and pretty Iron Covenant and Blood Heir from Arcane Society too!)
Cassandra says
I’ve been waiting for that Subterranean Press email! I have Innkeeper Vol 1 and I’m ready for a matched set.
njb says
Speaking of Innkeeper, what are the chances they would reissue Vol 1?
Shawn says
WOOT!!! space on the shelf next to vol 1 and the Kinsmen Universe 🙂
Brittany says
Loving the new covers!
I have recommended this series several times and usually preface with
“Don’t be put-off by the covers, it’s a fantastic series.”
Janeen says
Love the carnation theme!!!
Tiffanie says
This is like eating apple pie. Everyone has their favorite and everyone has their own recipe. But, what’s wrong with liking all of them? I like both covers, they’re just different. One doesn’t have to be better than the other, we can like them both.
Karen says
+1
Clarissa Carson says
Love!!!!! Wooooo hoooooo!!!!! Now I won’t have to convince people not to judge the book by it’s cover! Thank you
Sunshine 🌞 says
Oh these look really nice. I’m currently listening to the Hidden Legacy series for the umpteenth time and I have a selfish ask. Can we get a very short story on Frinnday from that world? A short story telling about Gavin Waller apologizing to the family of the security guard? Or what happened to the pit after Emerald Blaze? Something in that world that doesn’t have to do anything with the coming stories about Arabella. I know I’m being selfish, but I just these books and I want anything and everything you can share 😊
Lenore A. Villa says
Would buy them whatever the cover.
It’s the author’s name(s) that count.
Does anyone remember (And I know this ages me) the old Ace and Fawcett book covers used for authors like Asimov, Rice, De Camp , Weinbaum, Wellman and others?
They were not really appealing but the authors were whom I was after so bought them or hunted them down in any Booksale store I could find.
These Trade paperbacks will be a great addition to my back-up copies pile.
Regina says
Beauty!
Congratulations on the reprint and on revisiting
the best seller list again with the new cover.
Chiara says
I love these new covers❤️❤️❤️
Sri says
They’re beautiful!
Relin says
Those are gorgeous!
anon says
I like the new covers. There are so much better.
Meghan says
These are so pretty!!
Vanessa says
Love the new covers! 🙂
Jennifermlc says
I always thought half naked dude covers were especially funny because of Nevada joking about Pierce always being shirtless.
Maria says
I love the new covers and honestly find the old ones deeply amusing now!!
Would love if the ebooks update too but hey!
I am rereading Hidden Legacy now too.
Anhayla says
I LOVE them!
PamG says
Hey, I’m just happy that they’re not illustrated with a little Rogan mannikin in one corner and a little bad assed Baylor in the diagonally opposite corner.
Stacy says
I love them!
Annamarie Schmidt says
pout–I am disappointed that I can’t get these in hardback– as a bookstore I got the rest of them.
Tink says
They didn’t like the icicle pointing to Rogan’s not-an-icicle? I remember a lot of discussion about that cover at the time.
Jenn says
Lol! I forgot about that… happy memories in the blog comments … lol
Maria Adams says
Love the new covers!
Dj says
so, have our dear authors ever thought about writing BDH as an MC? I am thinking under a new pen name because of everyone telling the authors they got it wrong.
AP says
I generally ignore covers from favorite authors (yes, IA, I’m talking about you😘) but I definitely prefer the new covers over the old ones.
Merry says
I love people on the covers of a book because I can’t visualize faces. They are blurred in my head as the movie plays out. The new covers are pretty too.
Merry says
BLURRED in my head. Darn phone lol
Rexy says
Yessss! These covers are great!!
CathyTara says
Yes! These covers reflect the stories. I don’t mind hunky guys, stunning women but it is too obvious and sexist. Great update
Bev says
I have the original covers in paperback and on Kindle since sometimes I like to read in the car at night on trips while my husband drives. I think the new covers are tasteful and I love the carnation theme!
Mary says
Woo boo I love them.
Lilian says
I appreciate the humor the original covers provided. Especially, when they were photoshopped with funny tshirts. 🤣
These new covers are so pretty and magical looking!
Melissa says
I lent my daughter this trilogy and her second dog ate them (she eats everything). I was going to replace them, but I’ll wait for the new covers! I like them!
Lyra says
These covers are lovely. I especially like White Hot. For some reason the coloring there just really appeals to me.
Vinity says
LOVE LOVE LOVE the new covers!! Love.
JenS says
awwww, it’s carnations.
Blondietex says
I remember when Suzanne Brockman so hated a cover model (didn’t fit the description of the hero at all) on one of her books, she sent out smiley face stickers for readers to put on the cover guy’s face.
DeeDee says
Thank goodness for the new covers. The covers with the beefy men and curvy women were kind of embarassing to hold up in the airport, hehe.
LZReader says
I am happy because I can’t tell you how many people I recommended this series to and had them interested only to have them see the covers and bow out. Now maybe they’ll pick them up!!
Virginia says
Hard same! Those old covers were so tacky, they put people off.
How did I miss the photoshopped funny t-shirts, though?
Rose says
I prefer the new covers.
jewelwing says
The carnations are beautiful. If I want to make someone new to IA a present of these books, I will feel comfortable doing so.
Sharla says
Umm – I can’t find the preorder.lol
I’m definitely one who waited on this series just because of the cover. I caved eventually but the style was/is polarizing.
I’m still pouting about the dog destroying a book because I can’t get the same cover. I generally don’t have multiple copies of books – but sometimes I do;-) (I don’t count ebooks as a copy )
Moderator R says
They are due for release next spring 🙂. So far it has been local and indie bookstores which show them in their catalogue 🙂
Sharla says
Thanks 🙂 I get confused easily.
(FB also didn’t sent me a notification that you replied. My apologies. Good thing the BDH rereads everything- including blog articles and responses;-)
Carla says
Meh, as long as “Ilona Andrews” is printer on the cover, that is all I care about, lol.
Michelle says
Wait, there is a half naked guy on the cover? Went back to look — and yes, yes there is. Although I must say I do like that she is fully dressed and he is only half dressed, but he does earn a shirt by the time he gets to the third novel.
New covers are also lovely
Carolyn says
I love the new covers!
Aidan says
While the cover where someone pasted a Hello Kitty’s tee-shirt on Rogan’s chest will always have a treasured place in my heart, I do prefer the new cover.
njb says
I missed that and I do wish I’d seen it as it sounds hilarious!
DK says
it’s called ‘marketing’ hahahahahah
new cover to grab new readers…
except for old folks like me whose originals are yellow and falling apart
i like the guys but after re-reading so many times and using a gumband to hold it together…i’m ready to preserve it and read the new ones
and like Carla just said as long as “Ilona Andrews” is on it .. i’m buying
Bob says
I was never the biggest fan of the old covers, and I especially love these new ones. This style of cover is one my favorites for fantasy novels.
Yay for new covers XD
Jen H says
These are gorgeous! I will remember the naked dude and his Hello Kitty t-shirt edit fondly.
Mell says
What does this mean for future books in the series? I know you said you can’t write Arabella’s right now (for obvious reasons), but if you write a book for Leon or Ragnar, which cover would they get? One that matches the old covers, for those of us who want a matched set, or these lovely new ones?
Moderator R says
Further books in the Hidden Legacy series would likely be self published, so under author control rather than Avon 🙂.
House Andrews would likely make the decision after writing the manuscript, based on genre, book cover trends at the time etc.
czg says
O. M. G. The improvement. I never felt like the old covers reflected the content and people DO judge books by the covers. They were cheesy erotica covers first and foremost and not worldbuilding, character driven fantasy romances with a handful of sex scenes across the trilogy… bothered me immensely. Sexy romance sure, erotica no.
Anyways, I’m really happy some channels of communication got opened between artist and HA. The carnation ordeal sounded terrible.
yays all around
Daphne says
The new covers are lovely. The old covers never seemed to align with your brand.
ReneeG says
I’m glad you (and us) finally get the carnation covers you deserve!
Jennifer says
They are lovely, will they become available in hardback at anytime?
Moderator R says
Note very likely, sadly, or in a very small numbers edition.
Virginia says
Maybe the next time the HA merch shop opens up, you could offer paper slipcovers in the new design for owners of the hardbacks? (not me, just sympathizing!)
Sue says
Love the new covers!
PSMH says
*heart eyes emoji*
Lara says
love the new covers, glad the half naked guy is gone. I’ll read anything you two write regardless of the cover. I have an e-reader, this reprint makes me want the paperbacks now.
Susan J says
It’s post like this is the guy say a prayer of thanks that I only read on the Kindle and don’t have to take sides in the Cover Wars. I’m all about the blurb, baby.
BionicBill says
What no Tank! Just kidding.
Joanna says
I still like the photoshopped one with the kitty cat t- shirt
BT says
LOVE! the new covers. I think they really symbolize the mystery and power of Hidden Legacy.
And honestly, I wouldn’t have picked the old covers up in my Library, let alone buy them.
I read the Hidden Legacy series and all of your other books through Libby, after being drawn into Kate Daniels world. I read for your stores not what the supposedly sexy guys on the covers seem to be promising
Yes, we all have a different idea of interesting – but those covers just don’t do it for me. And yes, so common – half naked guys on covers are a dime a dozenon book covers anymore.
But let me be clear -as long as the author is “Ilona Andrews” I really don’t care what the cover looks like.
Jean says
Carnations are my comfort flowers. In college, I would buy a mood boosting bouquet the week before spring semester finals. There were dozens of custom dyed colors of carnations at the local florist from the recent high school prom season. Rainbow serenity in a vase.
💐🌈
Kate says
!!! I love these so much, they’re gorgeous!! I’ve been saving up to buy the non-ebook sets, can’t wait for these to be out!
Emily says
I think the new covers are beautiful and I admit I did find the old ones a little embarrassing and it did slightly delay me starting the series.
please delete if this is inappropriate to ask but I would love to hear the back story if that’s appropriate. Why the change?
Author request?
Avon’s initiative?
Market research?
Publishing is a business and covers cost money so Avon must expect to make a profit from the new covers, right?
Or is it an inducement for the Arabella series?
Do I remember correctly that HL is HA’s best selling series? I understand why Arabella will eventually be self-published and I wondered if Avon was disappointed.
laura says
i too am curious what prompted the rerelease with new covers.
Nancy says
The new covers are lovely and I will get the trade size volumes. Thanks for the heads up. Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only one who doesn’t look at the covers.
Susan B says
When I started Burn for Me, I remember feeling grateful that I was reading it on an e-reader, because I would have been embarrassed for anyone to have seen the half-naked dude cover, and in fact any book cover that has male chest on it I automatically won’t pick up.
Fortunately, I had already developed my Ilona Andrews addiction, so I ignored the cover and read the book anyway. And read it, and re-read it, and re-re-read it. And waited with bated breath for the next book in the series to be available.
I like the new covers just fine and if I were still into physical books I’d probably buy them.
Susan B says
Hell, I may buy them anyway – I have enough bookshelf space to squeeze in 3 trade paperbacks. 😊
Lexie says
I love the carnations!
Sherri says
I love the new covers.
My husband and I share a kindle account and he does have things to say (so many, many things) about the half naked man covers.
Bea says
I think the new covers are better 🙂 🙂
Jen says
Hahahaha the comment at the end. That’s so funny. We hate these covers, we loved those covers.
I love the new covers! Especially Burn For Me
Alex says
Never! Enough! Carnations! I love the new covers, they’re gorgeous, I hope you are really happy. Go House Andrews!
Gwen says
The new covers look great !
House DeMille says
phew, thank goodness – I was put off by the old covers for a long time, even though I loved Innkeeper and knew House Andrews was a reliable author. Just couldn’t do it.
When I did finally give Hidden Legacy a try, they were sooooo different than the covers implied.
Catalina’s covers are good, though. They were part of what helped me get over my aversion of the Nevada covers.
All that to say, so glad these books are getting a facelift!
Heleina says
I am so excited for these!
mz says
Will this mean that you might stop having to “audition” models for covers? I would have thought that this was one of the funnest parts of finalizing your books (heh heh heh)
Tapati says
I didn’t mind the old covers but these are really beautiful and I’m glad they figured out that a carnation is not a rose. 😉
Chachic says
These new covers are lovely! Hope they will help new readers discover your amazing series ❤️
Mina says
The new covers are beautiful – but reading on kindle freed me from „cover anxiety“ 😁
ZC says
The new covers look fantastic.
Frances says
I already have these books with the yuk covers but look forward to getting them in trade paperback with new covers. I like the colours and the carnation and arcane circle theme.
Edi says
Aww… It wasn’t easy, but I’ve grown fond of naked over-processed dudes.
Also I’m preordering right away 😀
Trex says
Ahhhh i will finally be able to buy the print version! Thank you thank you!!!
I didnt want the previous covers in my bookshelf 🫣
Sleepy says
same lmao 🤣
Trex says
They really don’t fit in with my rows and rows of Mercedes Lackey and Terry Pratchett. I have a “type” when it comes to covers. 😅
njb says
Well all I can say is I never minded the old covers and the new ones are fine. I think the new ones might be less objectionable to many male readers tho.
I’m occasionally turned off by a cover, but it’s more the colors chosen. For awhile everything seemed to be coming out in what I started calling beach bright. I’m still going to buy it if the blurb grabs my interest tho.
Gloria says
Well I love the half naked dude covers. LOVE them. Especially when the inside of the book matches. I don’t buy paperbacks that much anymore unless forced because I have digital libraries. They take up a lot of room in the bookshelves.
Sleepy says
oh I love them!!!
Ben says
Good, my paperback copies of Burn For Me and White Hot are falling to pieces from re reading.
How about reprinting Gunmetal Magic, Magic Rises, Magic Slays, Magic Bleeds and Magic Strikes which are getting a bit worn.
I suppose hardbacks are too much to ask for.
Lisa Menery says
Really like the new covers.
Kay says
Yaaaay! I had my fingers crossed this was coming since you guys mentioned at some point when you requested carnations for a re-release and they sent you a bunch of covers with other flowers.
Melissa says
Love the new covers! I have to laugh as I honestly had to turn the bookcovers over so my husband and kids would not think the book was a smut book. They are great romance books and when asked that was my response. Have a great weekend and stay cool as its hot in GA and I can’t imagine Texas right now.
Katherine says
OMG–gorgeous! & appropriately arcane-looking.
Melissa says
The potential new covers are awesome, amazing and draw you in. Beautiful.
Kim says
Thank goodness. Every time I recommend this series I have to preface it with “ignore the covers, the story is much better and less stupid than they imply”. The new ones are pretty, too bad they couldn’t get something more connected to the story.
Bill G says
Half-naked dudes or flowers, it’s all the same to me. “Ilona Andrews” is all I need to see.
Samantha says
These are beautiful. I will admit the XXX rated cover of White Hot with the ice cycle dong dangling between Rogan’s legs had kind of grown on me. It went from oh no, did they see this before print? to all out giggle fest of they printed it. I really do like the new covers though.
Other Barbara says
Felt original covers were designed by publishers specs for their specific market. Love new covers. I personally am happy when your writing is not determined by BDH begs. Even though I would personally have you stay in hidden legacy and Kate worlds forever and ever.
One author I enjoy had endless BDH members BEG that two straight male characters have a sexual relationship. She finally added that in book 14!
Imho we either respect the God-given gift of of writing talent or go write a knockoff fan fic not try to beg for our own vision. Poor Mod R, the brave guardian of Authorlord’s peace.
Ilona says
” the flowers don’t relate to the titles or the storylines. ”
Perhaps a reread of Burn For Me is in order. Or you know, you could just spot search it for carnation. 🙂
Crescent says
Love the new covers! Now I won’t need to use my plain-wrap covers when I take them out in public! 😂😂.
CHRIS says
I absolutely hate covers with people on them— especially
“Bodice Rippers”. Though “Ripper Cushions” are fine. I put off starting to read the fabulous Hidden Legacy books for about a year because the covers were so off-putting. Also, we like to imagine what the hero /heroin look like and if we don’t like the way they look, we can’t get into the story.
Imagine being anywhere in public, like a coffee house, for example, with a Fabio- style cover clasped in your fingers. These new covers don’t have to be hidden in a leather book cover and allows the author to get some recognition from passers-by Win-Win.
These new covers are poster and tote bag worthy!
Lisa says
Lol, I will read your books no matter what you have on the cover. That said, I love the new covers.
Btw, I absolutely loved Magic Claims.
PMcC says
People are ludicrously funny, insane, shamelessly cruel and unbelievably brave. Covers. Makes me laugh.
Thank you.
First time communicating but you had me hooked from the first book.
Moderator R says
Welcome to the comment section 🙂
Sue says
The new covers look great. I’ve never been a fan of the bare-chested covers. These are great books and the old covers did you no favors.
Oraleen says
Does anyone remember Fabio? Long flowing blond hair. His naked chest gloriously graced the covers of many a romance novel. I still have many of them in my book shelf. 😁
BrendaJ says
I do! 🙋🏻♀️ And remember the 3 gorgeous hunky brothers who actually owned a pig farm? 😁
KathyS says
Lord Yes, drool, drool. LOL didn’t matter if he didn’t match description of the hero.
Ning Mixayboua says
I like half naked men 🤷♀️were people actually complaining
Moderator R says
Fairly constantly, yes 😅
Kris says
LOVE the new covers! Hated over processed naked dudes!
Gabz says
Will there also be hardbacks? I’d very much love to get my hands on a matched set for my collection.
Marci says
…then there are those of us (e-readers) who don’t care what’s on the cover as long as it contains the magic words ‘Ilona Andrews’!
Sechat says
True true.
BrendaJ says
I like them 😍 Something different but still very attractive. I like not having people pictured on the covers. Cuz then I can pretend the heroine looks just like me. Hehe 😉
Brenda c says
The old saying Never judge a book by its cover, comes to mind. Thanks for new covers 😊
Kelly says
Love the new cover design!! I had a hard time convincing my SO to read the series based on the original covers (he is now part of the BDH!).
KeishaS says
so glad for the change in covers. really didn’t like the first ones. I will probably re-read the series in paperback and proudly display the book. no more furtive reading of the Nevada trilogy.
Sechat says
The new covers rule.
Robin Šebelová says
Update reaction: Hey! I actually like new covers. They look nice, better than hunks in need of t-shirt…
Claire M says
I love the new covers! And despite the over the top romancy vibes on the old ones, they were fun too. I will probably end up buying the new covers as well though, because I love a trade pb. And, well, pretty!
Ginni says
I confess that I am sentimental about the old covers because the BDH made so much fuss over them. I’ll get the new ones too because when I am just a little unhinged when it comes to the things I truly enjoy. Sweep of the Heart is my favorite for the same reason, because the BDH got to play a small part in it as it grew.
Dawn says
I MUCH prefer the new covers. Carnations are my favorite flower.
I only like looking at characters on book covers when they match the author’s description, or the image I have in my head. good thing I now read ebooks so I hardly see the cover. 🙂
Ami says
Oh those covers are sooooo much better. Thank you for the lovely alternate.
I know you can’t win them all, but I appreciate the change!
Martyna says
Yes! So happy about this news! 😀
Ashley G. says
Gorgeous! I cannot wait to add them to my collection.
Jessie West says
Those are very pretty! They definitely feel like romance novels due to the font choice, but not like sexy smutty novels, now that there’s no half naked man.
I really like them! Don’t get me wrong – HL’s romance(s) are great, but it’s the rest of the stories and lore that really shine. Will the other trilogies be getting similar facelifts?
Denise says
Definitely prefer the new covers. I’m sad to say that I put off reading the Hidden Legacy Series for a couple of years because I really couldn’t cope with the “Harlequinesk” vibes of the old covers. Should have had more faith in HA!!!!
Elena says
So happy you finally got the carnations covers you wanted! No more pink and white peonies, lotuses, and roses in the asphalt!
*In hopeful whisper* would we get multicolored feathers for Catalina’s trilogy…?
Jua says
i’m sorry House Andrews but i really really hated the og covers so i’m so excited! i’m finally getting phisycal copies! (i read them on my kindle) yaaaay!! these look so fucking good!!!!!
Dianna Kilgore says
I love new covers! Classy.
Lauren Weber says
The new covers are cool but I don’t have a problem with half naked men, just saying!
Tracy says
They’re beautiful – I love the new covers! Thank you for sharing with us!
Brandi P says
These covers are beautiful but I also like hot dude covers!
Wims says
I think this will increase your audience. I personally avoided this particular series, even after devouring both Kate & Innkeeper, because I’m really not into heavy-romance. But this series, while having a romance angle, is really more urban fantasy, and I think the new covers reflect that.
MerryB says
Those are beautiful new covers.
john says
‘bye, shirtless dude covers! we’ll always remember your era.
Katie says
YAYYY!!!! These can go on my shelves.
Valerie says
I love them!!!! Carnations FTW! 🩷

Love the new covers! IMO, the old covers set the wrong expectations for the books, since they have romance components but aren’t traditional romances.

“Let us pause and wave goodbye to half naked dude covers.” Loled at this. 💀
I LOVE the new covers. Will purchase!

Yay for new covers!!! Now I don’t have to introduce someone to burn for me with an “ignore the cover!” disclaimer 😂
Sew Kitty says
Whaaaaaattttt???!!! No more bodice rippers? I don’t know how I feel about that…sob, sob, sob….
Amber says
Love the new covers! ❤️ I put off buying the paperbacks because I didn’t like the old covers. Now, I just have to wait until April to get the whole set.
Amelie says
The old covers were entertaining and cheesy but I was never a huge fan haha. When these come out, I will happily buy them and donate my old copies with smoldering shirtless Rogan to a Little Free Library somewhere to spread the Ilona Andrews goodness to the masses.
Gwen says
New covers are ABSOLUTELY the kind I’d want on books I just leave around the house. We have therapists and other medical types in and out weekly and I wouldn’t have to put the books with naked people back on the shelf.
dclewis55 says
There seems to be an industry-wide trend towards artwork covers that don’t require photos of human models. Is this a trend driven by cost increases?
Kamrin says
I love the carnation aspect. There’s no help for it-I’m going to have to buy a set of the new covers 😁
Emma says
I don’t mind a decapitated naked chest as they are usually pretty to look at and remind me to eschew that third cookie. It’s the cranially unchallenged that give me the ick. They have faces and faces have social smiles and fake eyes. It’s a massive turnoff.
IMO, the new covers are pretty and it’s good to have a refresh. Also it removes the easy sneer material. If someone is going to sneer at my reading choices they can damn well work for it.
Pyrane says
I love them 😻👍

Carnations! Cute.

Oh, thank goodness for new covers. I will buy this new set even though I have the old one just so I can have decent covers. It took me a really long time to try Hidden Legacy because of those covers. I finally did read them because that was when I found the blog, I could try them on Hoopla (library app) for free, and Catalina’s covers were pretty. That was a lot of factors that had to converge!
Ashley says
Burn for Me is one of my favorite books! I’m definitely happy about new covers so I can recommend to all my friends without having to tell them to ignore the cover.
I got my husband to read it by borrowing it for him through Libby where you don’t ever look at the cover. If it was a physical copy he wouldn’t have gotten past the shirtless man looking back at him 🤣 he loved the book!
I think it’s a major improvement from the previous version! I love the style of Julie’s book the best, it’s just so beautiful.
I somehow missed the blogpost people are referring to that talked about the artists messing up the carnations?!
Nat says
+1 ! Exactly my thoughts 😃
Nat says
Oh i Love these new covers! I think they suit House Andrews better than the old ones. When my friend recommended me the series (the first one that I read from HA) she right away said that I should not pay attention to the cover 😄😄😄 so I’m happy about the re-covering 😊 I wish you many new readers who were hesitant before to pick them up 😊
Lisa says
Love the new covers. the carnations are perfect since they are a recurring fixture both as Nevada’s fave flower and a hint at the tie between her and Victoria.
Christie says
Nice.
Cec says
Congratulations. I do prefer the new covers hehe
Shari West says
The new covers are lovely but I prefer the originals with a rendering of the main characters…sometimes the clothing, or lack of, doesn’t represent the character well but these seem pretty on point.
Smileygirl3090 says
Nobody is allowed to be unhappy with the covers – there are magic carnations! 🥰🤩
If you like naked dudes you can still have your naked dudes, it’s very easy to get naked dudes on romance books, it’s not very easy to convince your other half that there is a lot of blowing things up with magic and investigating and it’s worth a read – honest – with half naked dudes.
(Having said that I’m not sure he’ll be convinced by carnations but I’m going to give it a shot)
Michelle says
I really like the new Burn For Me cover. That is some seriously elegant graphic art.
Variel says
The new ones are lovely, I don’t have a problem with the old ones. More art is never bad IMO.
K says
Yay new covers that I won’t be embarrassed to include on my Goodreads profile! I admit, it took me forever to try the series because of the original covers.
Inhrid says
Could someone reupload the modified pictures of the old covers with the hello kitty shirt?
I would love to get to see it! I’ve combed the internet and couldn’t find it anywhere!
Debra says
No wild about the new covers, will miss seeing the characters.
Kathy says
I LOVE the new covers. Thank you!!!
I have devoured every book & snippet you put out. My husband & I share a Kindle account. He’s a pastor so he’s got all these commentaries & historical books. Then he’s looking at these covers and looking at me like “honey, are you ok? Are we ok?” I wish I could swap old for new lol. Actually, I would pay extra for having NC-17 pages removed but I am an adult capable of respecting the choices of others & skipping content without being a jerk about it 😁
kt says
No offense to anyone, but I like these SO MUCH better!! I always felt the others focused on so much less than the books and stories actually WERE! They were so good! And so different than much of what is out there!
Davinia says
Love the new covers, but I already have the original set on the shelf. Already spend way to much on books overall, so can’t really make a case for buying them double. Any chance for some covers?
Brightfae says
Very pretty!! Nice update!
Amanda J says
I will always have a soft spot for those old (not great) covers. They completely subverted my expectations of the books. Hidden Legacy – Nevada’s arc especially – are some of my most re-read books. The covers always make me giggle. I am excited for these new releases and will have to secure my physical copies.
Sara B. says
I like the call-out reference to carnations. While I did not mind the posed couple on the previous covers (although I always wonder what kept happening to his shirts?), I like these proposed new covers. Sends the signal that “we don’t have to rely on half-naked people to sell books!”
Kat Kintz says
I love the new covers!! They’ll look great next to the half naked guy covers. 😉
Joshua says
I understand the desire to have covers that are not overly sexualized. I feel like Ilona Andrews’ novels are in that cusp area of urban fantasy with the textualization of romance. Do not get me wrong the romance is there, but the urban fantasy/science fiction themes are so strong that their audience is much larger than just romance readers. So I feel the new covers align more with this thought process.
I feel like a current trend is to highlight the urban fantasy/paranormal/science fiction elements of some romance books on the covers from publishers. I am thinking of The Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yaros and the Crescent City series by Sarah Maas.
My question for our excellent writers is when deciding on a cover is this something you think about? I know you have previously spoken of that covers are often at the discretion of the publishers, but what about when you self-publish?

Here are some blog articles where House Andrews have addressed the process and things to consider 🙂:

The quiz about covers and genre quiz was great, too — could you share that link?
Moderator R says
Unfortunately, House Andrews had to switch the WordPress quiz plug-in and the cover quiz didn’t survive the transition 😟
Tracey says
I like these covers much better, although the originals were definitely eye catching lol. Is there any chance we could get a reprint of Kate Daniels? I dislike mass market paperback format and would dearly love to have the Kate books in quality paperback or even hard cover, (since I am wishing why not )?
Gail Lefkowitz says
I will forever treasure the Hello Kitty tshirt fix. It is my favorite thing about the old covers.
The new covers are lovely. When my original paperbacks die from being loaned out one time too many, I will buy them with great pleasure.
Sarah P says
These look really nice, congrats! Much more lendable. 😀
Jill says
The new covers are nice. I thought the old covers were okay, but the half-naked dude wasn’t a good match to the description of Connor Rogan. He was built way too light.
Kat Kimbriel says
They are gorgeous!
Hope they are good sellers for you.
Cedar says
Love, LOVE! the new covers!
Elizabeth says
Thank you for putting out new covers!! I’ve been dying to buy copies, but the naked dudes made me too embarrassed to have on a bookshelf when all my family are big readers.
Amy says
Honeys, as long as I see the name Ilona Andrews on the cover, I’m buying. Done. These are lovely. Eyecatching. Love the vibrantcy of the color. The font is especially beautiful.
Suzette M says
They are lovely. I really like the color scheme- it matches up with the books.
RogueWREN says
I always think of that hello kitty shirt you put on Rogan for the White Hot book. That’s probably my favorite and I laugh every time I think of it. the new covers are pretty, though nothing can beat Hello Kitty 🤣
Jess says
amazing!!
Sarah Webber says
Always a fan of a naked Rogan. FYI.
Susan Spencer says
I have been planning to buy an additional set of these novels, I have read them so many times they are falling apart. Is there any advantage to HA if I buy now or wait for the reprint?
Btw, what a fun post! Thank you!!!
Moderator R says
There is no specific advantage in terms of royalties for the authors 🙂

I’m in love with NEW ones! 🙌🏻🥳

What was it W.C. Fields sead. You can please all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.
I think he was optimistic about all some of the time🙂
Susan says
Isn’t this the third time we have gotten new covers for the hidden legacy series?
Moderator R says
Nope 🙂
This is the first time they have changed.
kendra says
So pretty!… now I’m gonna have to rebuy the trilogy now, lol.
