While House Andrews is away (hopefully somewhere gorgeous, where the only monsters are overloaded breakfast waffles), you’re left with me. Mwahahaha.

As always, the result is chaos! Fluffy, nerdy, deeply chalant chaos. Some of you are still trying to marry London though sheer force of headcanon – because would a guy with such good jawline really be capable of betrayal? And who among us hasn’t at one time suggested impromptu post-mortem thumb fingerprint extraction surgery in a toxic monster-infested cave trap? Long live Team Facts Be Damned, you’ve taught me all I know!

The comments have also been busy trying to figure out which Talent would serve us best beyond the gate.

Tried to write it as a ‘choose your own adventure’ story. That’s technically the tank-repairing grandma of LitRPG, so it should work. There are 6 possible results: assessor, tank, blade warden, scout, healer and mining foreman. Sorry chat, you can’t aim for the InBearitance. If we can’t all be Bear, no one can be Bear. It’s only fair.

Gentle note:

This is just for fun. Every Talent plays a vital part in helping humanity survive. If you think getting a particular result might ruin your afternoon, it’s perfectly fine to skip the quiz. Bear still loves you.

  2. Hmmm…. Scout. Not sure how I ended up with that.

    Maybe something to do with my answering one question by picking “drop a hand grenade on them by stealth while their backs are turned”?

    It just seemed more sensible than “charge in blindly with your sword” or whatever the other options were…

    Is Scout maybe the equivalent of Thief in the old D&D games?

      • Ahhh, thanks for that. As another with ‘Scout’, I find the Skulduggery suggestion interesting … heh, heh, heh …

      • Oh. well, as I say, Paranoia … its not paranoia when they really ARE out to get you, ROFL. Saving lives (especially mine, but maybe everyone else’s too? by bringing back the news of possible dangers ahead).

        • Or as the one Medieval Monarch said: “I KNOW I’m paranoid … but am I paranoid ENOUGH???”

          So we are grouped along with Gaston in the Gentleperson of Skullduggery class… Sounds like fun…

  7. Heads up, Mod! This nifty little thing landed in my email as 3000 lines of HTML code. It wasn’t even clear where the link was. I blindly hit a picture and it took me here. (Part of the problem is I’m 64 and reading anything on my phone is a challenge, so people with better vision probably were fine.)

    Of course, I’m not sure how you could avoid that problem — maybe just link to the quiz? I dunno. But I also want to say you do a terrific job herding the BDH, which is like herding carnivores gray aliens…

  10. I got Scout!… My favorite class in Deep Rock Galactic, a video game where you and your team of dwarf miners explore space caves, mine minerals, and fight off alien bugs. (Rock and Stone!)

    The story is giving me pleasant DRG vibes.

    Congratulations, you are a Blade Warden!

    Precision, protection, lethal grace—you hold all the cards! You can dish out lethal damage with your weapon AND make yourself invulnerable in your own protective forcefield. No that anyone’s counting, but if they were, you’d be a winner in the Talent lottery.
    That usually means you’re given the important roles, and that no one dies while you still stand. People follow you into danger because they trust you to carve the way out. Even the government tasks you to protect their own.

    Bear says: “Strong. Bite back harder.”

  14. I think it’s amusing that people think it’s “weird/ironic” that their result mimics their preferences/career. Who you are always shines through BDH, especially when you are a healer apparently, lol.
    I’m completely unsurprised to find after 27 years of military service I sort as a Blade Warden.
    Still a very fun quiz with lots of lovely easter eggs.

    It fits with a 5 year old I‘m always scanning the surroundings.
    It is also part of my Job doing maps of the Environment (soil, water, plants).
    Double joy here, because I shortly finished the Broken Lands Series.

  20. Scout, but I kept slipping into the headspace of taking my girls (I’m a volunteer with a girl’s youth organization) out for a camping trip. I really enjoyed the quiz!

    Just this morning, I was thinking about how Assesors got screwed in this world. They are ‘so valuable’ they can only work for the government; but as government workers they don’t get a share of the bonuses from the profit off the stuff that _they_ find. And to add insult to injury, they are apparently not paid very well if they can’t afford a house and decent schooling for their kids.

    So when the quiz popped up I thought ‘…..well, I know I don’t want to be an assesor’

    Of course, I’m an assesor! Can’t say Im too surprised though!

  29. I got scout! Which makes total sense since I… stay home almost all the time and am super slow and deliberate when engaging in physical activity… pretty risk averse, if I’m honest… But deep inside, I must be intrepid!

    • Either that or else, being slow and deliberate and risk averse, you maintain good awareness of your surroundings at all times. Probably an excellent quality for a Scout.
