Yesterday, we read about Maggie going on tour and witnessed some of the excitement of being able to see Ilona and Gordon live.
But not all of us could be there to ask our questions and give them our love. So now we’re fixing that:
Maggie Zoom
Ilona and Gordon will be hosting a Zoom Q&A on Saturday, April 18th at 10 AM Central Time to chat with us about everything This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me and what comes next.
I have almost three hundred questions gathered for the Zoom list, so over the weekend I’ll be whittling them down into something manageable for our brave authors to tackle. To be fair to the Horde, they knew exactly what they were doing! Of course we barsaed all over it.
If you have more questions, please continue the discussion on the spoiler thread for now. Since the book is longer than usual, we need to protect our fellow readers who may still be making their way through it.
The Q&A will be posted on the Ilona Andrews Moderator YouTube channel a few days later, but if you want to interact with our IA live, please register as Zoom spots are limited.

When is the Maggie sequel coming?
We wouldn’t be BDH if we hadn’t started asking this even before release day.
The good news is that House Andrews are hard at work on it, and it is shaping up to be a substantial draft. We like big books and we cannot lie, the other Hordes can’t deny, when a draft comes in with a wordcount high and a plot that won’t de…Ok, I hear you, Sir Modsalot out.
As soon as the manuscript is ready to move to the next stage in the traditional publishing process (developmental edits), we will hear about it here first.
Ilona and Gordon have just come off an intense release cycle and tour and went straight back into writing the Maggie 2 draft and ongoing admin work. We’ll need to allow them a little breathing room so they can keep doing what they do best: telling us the stories we love.
To put to rest the conspiracies already cropping up thanks to my people, Team Facts be Damned: yes, this is a planned trilogy. No, there is no cruel joke at play intended to leave us with an unfinished series and just two novels like Maggie’s own situation. In over 20 years of publishing, House Andrews have never failed to deliver on a contract. The best thing we can do is wish them health, rest, and long creative lives so they can keep feeding the Horde for years to come.
And reread, just in case … If one day we wake up on the streets of Kair Toren we’ll need to know exactly which Duke to ask for help. (Jk, of course we would go to Clover.)
Audiobook news?
The traditional audiobook recording for Beast Business (Augustine’s Hidden Legacy novella) will begin soon – once it enters editing stage, we will be able to estimate a release date better and will announce it.
I’m very happy to share that the actor who was chosen for Augustine was such a perfect fit that he will also be recast as Pancakes Montgomery in the Graphic Audio dramatized adaptations of Catalina’s Hidden Legacy trilogy, which should make for a wonderfully consistent listening experience for us.
I also have a 70% off promotion for the Burn For Me dramatized Graphic Audio adaptation on Audiobooks.com, as a Friday treat.
I do not have any official news about the dramatized adaptation of This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me, by Graphic Audio or otherwise. The traditional audiobook, narrated by the wonderful Kristen Sieh is available from all major retailers.
International editions of This Kingdom?
German readers in particular seem to be very worried – keine Sorge!
- The German edition of This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me has already been announced by Cove Verlag and is scheduled for September 25, 2026
- The Spanish edition coming from Editorial Hidra is planned for June 2026
- The French edition, handled by Éditions Bookmark, will also release in June, and will come in three formats: boutique edition with reversible dust jacket (art by Luisa Preissler), bookstore edition and digital

PS: Is there a way to cancel a registration since I accidentally wrote my email wrong on the first try? I did it a second time with the right email, but I don’t want to block a spot for someone with my mistake…
I realised I’ll be able to get to the email I entered to cancel it (even though it’s not mine), so I’ll be able to fix my mistake fortunately. But if someone entered an email that is not theirs or invalid, they generally wouldn’t be able to cancel it… Hopefully the rest of the horde pays more attention then I did 😀

Mod R, if someone is cancelling and a spot becomes available, is it possible to go on a cancellation list to register for the Zoom? I’ve been watching for the Q&A to be scheduled but somehow I missed the blog post and the registration is now closed (because the BDH is just that awesome, lol), but if any spots became available I would love to join!
(I understand if it’s not possible, that would be a lot of admin work, but you never know if you don’t ask :-))

I have to admit I was not too intrigued by the Maggie posts. I really wanted another title in a series I already knew. But I just got This Kingdom… and fell into the same quandary always have with Andrews books. I have to keep reading because I enjoy the story so much. But if I keep reading, it will be over too soon.

The most urgent question that I did not dare ask just got answered (sequel). I have to confess that I was seriously considering starting a second job as a serial reviewer on Goodreads as well as Youtube-Book-Influencer just to be able to get an ARC of the sequels when the time comes… alas, my real job is a bit too time consuming for that. 😀
I’m confused. So the current voice actor for Augustine in the hidden legacy books on graphic audio will be recast for Catalina’s trilogy?
Yes 🙂 This isn’t a reflection on LaMont Ridgell’s performance, which we appreciate. Casting decisions for ongoing adaptations sometimes evolve as the director refines how a character is presented across narrative.
The new actor was selected with the involvement and approval of House Andrews because he aligns more closely with how they (and hopefully also the readers) envision Augustine.

I can’t make the Zoom but I’m curious to know what happened to the servants in the house Maggie took over? I can figure that maybe there weren’t any standing deliveries (milk, fish, bread, whatever) for someone to notice a change, but did the thugs/guards really do all the cooking, and cleaning themselves?
Given how filthy the house was, I think it’s clear no one was cleaning it. Idk about food though…
I admit, the ide about leaving the last book unfinished as a meta-twist did occur to me. I didn’t think they would actually do that, but honestly I don’t know if I would even be mad. I bet they could pull it off.
I was terrified they’d actually do it. We’d have to hire Steve to find the 3rd book.

I have just a moment ago finished This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me! This book had me in a chokehold from the first second I opened it to the very last full stop. I haven’t enjoyed a book so much for a long time and wanted to thank Ilona and Gordon for coming up with an absolute cracker of a reading experience.

All love and gratitude to my favorite authors and their mod. It’s genuinely impressive that they wrote this brick of a book and also accidentally wrote a few other books at the same time. I somehow manage to feel loved and personally spoiled by a pair of people I’ve met exactly two times in the past dozen years. That’s probably weird, but I try to be cool about it, with varying degrees of success.

Ya, but what if there is a ghost in the manuscript and it disappears. I mean how do you know the manuscript is not haunted? Can you prove it?
Is there any way for those of us who were not able to register for the Zoom in time to view the fun in real time?
I’ve been really struggling with the characters in Maggie’s first book. Maybe it’s adult onset ADHD, maybe it’s the new GMO Tcells I’ve received, maybe it’s lack of sleep or the construction outside my hotel room. But, I can’t keep these characters straight. Is there a glossary of characters located somewhere I’m not finding in the TOC? I feel like I’m re-reading sections just to learn names but it’s not sticking. Help kindly requested for my overloaded brain.
I agree. I had to break out pen & paper and make reference notes due to the depth of the world building. What a fantastic problem to have!!
I’m having a hard time with the pronunciations. So many new names in TKWNKM. Even using the web tools, the pronunciations are multiple and vary depending on user dialect. I’m looking forward to the Q&A and hope Ilona and Gordon speak some the names. I just find it a bit frustrating that I “learn” a pronunciation only to have it spoken another way – sometimes many years later, e.g. Simon & Roman.
