Guess what’s just been revealed on the Midnight Whispers website? Our girl!
And she is a beauty.
The dust jacket, designed by the fabulous C.E. Illo, will feature iridescent gold foiling and spot UV detailing. C.E. Illo has also illustrated the spray edges for the edition.
Duckhymn is responsible for the hardcover case underneath – which is cleverly made to look like the Thieves of the North, the fictional book Maggie gets isekaied into – and will also feature iridescent gold foil. Duckhymn has additionally created the illustrated endpapers and an interior overlay.
How can we get it?
Midnight Whispers subscribers will receive preorder early access on September 2 at 11:00 am ET.
Public access will follow on September 4 at 11:00 am ET. This means that you do not need to be on their waitlist or a subscriber to access it. However, these are limited editions and they can sell out, so please keep that in mind if you are hoping to snag one – particularly a signed copy, which will go very fast.
Cost and shipping?
The Exclusive Edition will cost $39 plus shipping.
Copies are currently estimated to ship in March or April 2027.

I agree with Judith in being confused. The outside says TKWNKM and inside on the book itself Thieves of the North. Is this actually your 2nd book of Maggie? It is beautiful for sure.

Yeah, it will sell out fast. I’ll just sit back on the sidelines and watch the stampede happen. I’m happy with my e-book copy and the US hardback edition I got last week. 😁
I find it interesting that so much artwork of Reynald has him with a beard. Regardless, the artwork has been stunning for all the editions and promotional materials.

Me too! I would be both excited but also completely unwilling to read it as a standalone (maybe as a supplement with Maggie’s books holding my hand ) because it – according to Maggie- was a hallmark of tragedy and injustice. And I just can’t. The real world is overwhelming enough for my heart🫣

OMG, what a masterpiece! I have it already in hardcover but it does call to me! Thank-You for all your efforts! I think I shall reread it today. I’m currently making doll clothes. According to their web site the Toys For Tots boxes will start appearing in October. My local bakery had one last year. So far I’ve got 3 dolls dressed with extra outfits and 2 more to go! Besides the outfits they came in I make a set of scrubs, a nightgown and a shorts set. Sometimes a fancy dress or tutu. For anybody wanting to make starter projects in knitting, crocheting or sewing, doll clothes are a great project! If you don”t have any little relatives there are always charities to give them to. Happy August and I hope everyone stays safe.

According to the store home page update, fulfillment of the vellum orders is anticipated to take 4-6 weeks, so not before then 🙂 .

I’m sure I missed explanations about the special editions content besides the obvious unique covers but besides the Owlcrate special edition (in;)famous bonus chapter, do these other (two) special editions have bonus chapters? If so, are the bonus chapters the same?
There are no bonus chapters 🙂
The Owlcrate exclusive content is a short story that describes the events you will discover in the first chapter of the next book. It is not essential or vital information.
hmmmm, I’m not sure if I’ve joined the waitlist correctly, but the inside cover suprise made me want this one…. well see what international shipping is like.
A question of these do sell out (and I suspect they will) might the shop possible do a stand alone hardback dust cover with the book Maggie jumps into, that we can add to our own covers, under any existing dust cover if we have them, or to act as a new dust cover if we don’t? using art from your wonderful artists who have worked on the specials with you?
No worries if not. As this might be a cool idea to try to make myself somehow, if I can’t get my hands on a copy…..

Is it just me or is the amount of special editions higher than average?
It’s pretty cool. It makes me feel like my favorite authors are getting the recognition that they deserve. But I didn’t know that they would do so many special additions altogether.
will the vellum fit inside?
Please ask Midnight Whispers for the dimensions – the vellums are designed to fit a regular US hardcover 🙂
This should be the normal US hardcover size. I have sub with Midnight Whispers and all their books come standard US. So Vellums will fit nicely!!

Pretty as all these “editions” are, I’m more than happy with my first run edition. I’m not about aesthetics; I’m about the book, and this book could have been covered in dirty brown paper with a handwritten title, and it’s still the best book ever (so far)…. too many people worry about the look and not the story. Lucky for you guys, YOUR WRITING ROCKS!

These are physical special editions :). Their entire point is to have a pretty book to display on the shelves and hold in your hands to admire the art.
