    This Kate looks so badasss and I love it. My favorite covers have been from Magic RISES and onwards. I love how each of the later covers has a color theme (rises is orange/fire, breaks is snow/white, shifts is green, Binds is red, and now triumphs is smoke/black/grey.).

    Who is the cover artist?!? Whoever it is, please convey my admiration to the cover artist (I assume it’s the same artist because the later books have similar artistic styles). Y’all should get her/him to redo the covers for the first five books. 🙂

    • More likely a re-appearance of the threat that took out most of Erra’s family and set her and her brother on the vengeance trip which ultimately unhinged Roland.

      So Kate making common cause with Hugh & Roland??

      And yes when will Hugh’s book be out? What happened with the intention to serialise it on this site a la Inkeeper?

  54. I am so excited! Sad, but excited may be more accurate. I love this series and have read it at least ten times. I know all things must come to an end but this one will be hard. Despite that melancholy tone I am bursting at the seams to read this! Thank you for my favorite series of all time.

  60. Favorite cover so far. As my kids would say, “Savage!” Only it actually is. I know it’s obviously intentional but I love the pics of the lion in the backgrounds. It’s a great way to tie Curran in without making it a couples cover in the traditional way and I’ve always liked the idea.

  75. Wow. So many issues to look forward to. Or deal with. The blurb definitely causes anxiety, but I believe in Ilona. After ten books, there has to be an HEA. However, the road to that end may be paved with pain. This definitely makes the waiting more difficult. Gulp.

  79. Saw this in my FB feed this am. Now THAT’S SOME COVER! Like others have stated, I am so excited to see this coming but really sad to see the end of the series. I’ll just have to reread them all once a year to get my fix. The cover blurb is really well done, too. Now, for next year, get Avon to OK another book in the Hidden Legacy series and have them work up a really great cover. And, while they’re at it, redo the covers and reprint the last 3 books. Just sayin’.

    The date is also great – over two months earlier than I expected. ^_^
    But the price Amazon shows me at the moment is $28,29 for a Kindle version o.O, so I’ll have to wait with pre-ordering for a bit;)

    • They don’t charge you until the order is fulfilled, so it wouldn’t hit until May 8th. And then you usually get an email saying the price at the time you pre-ordered was lowered at the time of fulfillment. At least, that happened with the last couple of books, although I don’t remember if it was Kindle and paper or just paper (I get both).

        Kindle version is £10.99 here in the U.K.
        Could that be the printed book price?
        So far haven’t found the printed book for preorder here yet?

        • Kindle version here in US is $12.99, hardcover is $26.00. Prices I’m willing to pay for these authors.

          This cover is beautiful and the best in the series, IMO. The blurb is even better.

  101. I think I still like some of the European covers better, but of the American covers, this is definitely one of the top two. I can’t keep the titles straight, but there was one other cover I really liked, except it had Curran as a golden lion and that’s not how he’s described in the books. This one has probably the best Curran yet. I like the Kate model, too.

  113. I love the maturation of urban fantasy that we can have a (bestselling) heroine who actually gets pregnant as a natural evolution of her character. Cause frankly, for years (is it decades yet?) there was a lot of sex with no bambinos…..

    Also, by ancient enemy are we referring to her dad, or by family to her bloodline? if the case of the bloodline, wasn’t those enemies all slaughtered. This is where my mind went with that promo.

    Can’t wait to read it.

        So adding “a confrontation is inevitable” to “their time is up”, I believe the “ancient enemy” is Roland.

I too am looking forward to the grand finale of the Kate vs Roland story arc though I am sure there will be plenty of opportunities in the future for stories set ” in the world of Kate Daniels” and featuring some of the characters we have come to love.   135. Is it sad that although I understand the weave towards the happy, fulfilled family life story arc, I don’t really want her to have a kid? At least, not quite as early in the final book as it’s going to happen. There’s way more angst than I can handle when a pregnancy or a new born child is involved.

    That’s a passive regret though and with that said…. Eeeeeeeeeee, I can’t wait!!!!

    I hope the next book has scenes from when Kate was pregnant. She would be funny, plus it’s rare to read about a character during pregnancy. If it’s not in this book I hope you write a short story or novella of Kate running around still doing her thing while driving Curran crazy.

    I have read this entire series. I love it. There is always something new and fresh in the books she puts out.

    Question. In the new series burn for me
    Is that only going to be 3 books?
    I am hoping there is more to come I’m afraid I may have hooked 10 people to that series and they would like more.
    Please write more in that series when u get a chance. I love the kate series to and havd told the 10 about it. They are now currently reading that feverishly.

  162. YAY! The Kate Daniels series was my first introduction to urban fantasy. I only read suspense. It has been a wild ride from the first book. I read everything by Ilona’s Andrews, and others Ilona’s has recommended. Can’t wait for the new Kate. I may start to ‘re-read the entire series. Loved Wildfire!

    • There is going to be a Hugh book coming out. Started out as an April Fool’s joke then took on a life of its own

  177. I tend to lurk on the web and this is my first time posting on your blog. I would like to add to the clamoring for more Hidden Legacy and Innkeeper books – there are far too many unanswered questions for these to be done! I would be happy for more Kate Daniels books but after 10 I can understand if you want to move on. I have enjoyed the world-building and character growth. I am hoping for more in the Gray Wolf series with Derek and Julie. This blog is the first I have heard of the Hugh book, I hope it is not an April Fool’s joke and is a real thing. I have all your books and have recommended them to friends. I have read all of them several times, and often read the short stories when I want something good but short and complete before sleep. Since I have never posted here before I want to take this opportunity to shamelessly gush, flatter, thank you, and beg for more. You are 2 of my favorite authors, please keep the stories flowing!
