She’s reread these books until she knows them by heart. The details, the people, the moments that mattered. She knows how this story is supposed to go. And that certainty might be the most dangerous thing she brings into this world.

And I don’t know why, but IA is the only one I can’t read in german. It’s just… Idk, too strange to read? Like the style doesn’t translate well into the german language (for me, at least).

I have the same issue. Once I learned to read the original I just can’t go back to translations. There’s just so many little things lost even if the translation is good and specific terms translation (such as the Beastlord etc.) sometimes just feel weird. And sadly, great many books just don’t get translated at all. To my knowledge only Kate Daniels series has a Czech translation. The rest is either English, or you’re out of luck.

So are the French and German editions leaving the title in English?? They have very beautiful page edges.
The German translations usually do leave the English title, especially for books where the audience is likely to be reading about it on international social media. Most young people have quite good English but may not want to read whole novels in it, so the bookshops will probably sell both originals and translation of bestsellers. Sometimes even books written in German will get English especially titles if the publisher hopes they’ll be translated.
Also, we Germans fancy any- and everything English-sounding, even if it’s made-up. We don’t care. It sounds “cool”. That’s why we call mobile phones “handy”in German (like, that’s the actual word), overhead projectors “beamer” and, apparently slightly disturbing in some English-speaking countries, if there’s e.g. a soccer tournament and big screens project that in the city centers, that’s a “public viewing”. They sometimes even re-name complicated English movie titles into different, English ones for German audiences 😀 (e.g. “mean girls” became “girls club”, “miss congeniality” became “miss undercover”…) you can imagine our surprise when we realize we are the only ones using those not-actually-English titles/words 😀

From the UK. I hadn’t checked my emails this morning so got a nice surprise when the postman came and my book from waterstones was delivered. Going to try to read tomorrow as wanted to finish some needlefelt pieces I started and will try not to read in the middle of the night.

On the West Coast my Kindle is often blessed with a new release at 9PM if not sooner. I will be compulsively checking this evening.

Is it just me or is this release just, well, bigger? It feels like more than just “oh, here’s a new series by my favorite authors.” It feels like a statement series.

It’s a new genre for the Authors and for most of their existing readers, so audience widening and very likely paving the way.
It’s their return to traditional publishing after the break they took since Ruby Fever.
And above all it’s really a project they worked and believed in a lot to make it happen, and which was snapped up by so many publishers around the world, and are now releasing promo and marketing efforts to match their enthusiasm 🙂

I thought I would have to w@it until my pre-ordered ebook would land on april 2nd, so imagine my joy when I got a call this weekend from my sister breathlessly telling me she was in a bookstore in The Hague (Netherlands) holding 2 copies of TKWNKM! She faithfully handed over one of her ill gotten treasures yesterday. Today’s train commute was much to short for my liking but tomorrow is my day off and I will blissfully spend it in Rellas.
Question! 🙋🏻♀️ I preordered TKWNKM on my Kindle but would rather buy the ebook direct from IA like I did with Beast Business since that worked so well. Will that be an option again?
Side note: I’m in Louisville and just registered for the book signing with our author overlords in Lexington. So excited!!!

I have been reading “Sweep of the Blade” because, well…you all know why.
I’ve also gone all the way down the rabbit hole of the recommended Netflix series that Grace Draven and Ilona mentioned, “Pursuit of Jade” and it was absolutely spell binding.
I will say it has subtitles, but they are very well done.
The visuals are amazingly beautiful. It is a period medieval piece, and the story line follows interesting twists. Once again, a fantastic recommendation from Ilona and Grace Draven.
We watched the last episode of Pursuit of Jade, which Netflix conveniently dropped today. Good distraction from w*iting! I’m wondering if there’s a kind BDH member at Netflix who made sure we had something awesome to watch in the last hard days of w*iting… But for those who must w*it longer, I highly recommend PoJ. Or for the unknowable aftertime, once the new book is tragically read to the end.
I have my tickets in hand for the Barnes & Noble tour event tomorrow in Austin.
I plan to nap this afternoon, then grab Maggie when my ebook drops at midnight and read until my eyes cross.
My husband has kindly agreed to get me into the car regardless of my condition and make sure I reach B&N in time to grab my hard copy of Maggie, and listen to Ilona and Gordon.
The scope of Maggie is going to bring HA to a much wider audience base, and the horde has a front row seat, helping to make it happen.

I think I speak for all your fans here that we don’t even read what book is about when it comes to you. We just know it’s gonna be awesome. I am so looking forward to tomorrow. Your books and couple of other writers’ are the only thing that make me focus on the story nowadays.

The countdown finishes about when I finish work… soooo it shall be read on the train and throughout the evening with various drinks, noms, and things.

It’s here!! Since I pre-ordered, it was downloaded to my ereader at 8:03 PDT. After w*iting for so long, I almost don’t know how to feel. Hard to believe it’s really here, but once I start reading, the delicious truth will hit me.

Nook not downloading for me either. Maybe it is on another time zone (not Eastern) or they are rolling it out slowly.
BTW it downloaded at 1am Eastern, not at midnight, on Nook, but I was already in bed so just updating here now. Now to read a bit before heading out to watch my son’s tennis match. Priorities lol.

the audiobook has been downloaded. I’m going into seclusion training this Easter long weekend like those wuxia dramas. Only reachable by land line until this book is completely devoured and then redevoured.

Barnes and Nobles are having issues. I got an email to say my pre-purchase had failed and to reorder. I reordered 5 times and my money got deducted once from my account but all my orders failed. And their customer service is also closed😭

There are a handful of comments like yours reporting an error, hope it gets solved soon! Fingers crossed!
If you are trying to download on your Nook, you might have to clear the cache either on your computer or e-reader. It could also be that you might have to restart your e-reader. I know on my Nook’s library, I have to swipe from the top down to get a book loaded on to the reader.
If that still doesn’t work, you might have to archive the pre-order, wait a few minutes, and then put it back into your library. I know with an older Nook I had, I had to do that when the pre-order was longer than a few months.
Mod R, you might want to re-iterate what I mentioned above to anyone else who is having problems with the e-book download. 🙂

OMG book has arrived, preorder through Amazon Australia and its Tuesday 31/3 6.10pm here.
Though I didn’t see the delivery advice until 6.10pm, but my dog had barked earlier and when I looked at the front door there was no parcel, so I thought he was just barking at nothing.
The delivery at 3.30pm said near front door or porch and were was it placed, at the corner of the house in the driveway. wtf, not happy Jan.

Just tried to pick up my ebook-version, from bol.com, a Dutch seller, but they tell me the book will be available on april second, not today… And it is a publisher-issue. So… have to wait 2 days longer, and I think this will be for a lot of people here.
It’s not a publisher “issue” as such. It’s the UK edition, which has the official release date as the 2nd of April 🙂
It is a separate edition and distinct publisher from the US release, which comes out today.
Both editions seem to be available in continental Europe, so it’s probably a matter of retailer choice.
I ordered mine through Kobo (linked to bol) and it landed this morning. Did you pre-order? If not, you should be able to get it from Kobo now. (I’m also Dutch)
It landed on my reader last night/this morning, but I’m planning* to do a self-imposed w*it because I’m off on Friday and my husband isn’t, so I’ll have an entire day to myself to devour it in one or two sittings, possibly with Tasty Snacks.
*This may not work, but it’s the goal at the moment.

We rode at dawn.
The wild hunt successfully captured it’s target, the print version, which is e’en now winging its way to us. The battlecorns have been stabled and hot tea awaits.
My UK Waterstones edition has just arrived. I was feeling kind of guilty!
But I swear a vow of silence to enjoy with my Fruity Oolong tea and (goodness knows why) mini marshmallows.
The precious is here! The precious is here! Whoo-hoo! Dancing, riding at dawn, and celebrations have started. Now, the quiet hush of those of us in the US branch of the Horde have either devoured the book earlier or are devouring it now.

Okay, so I had this great idea to get a signed copy for a friend. Wild I need a printed copy? Nooo, of course not, I only read ebooks! No space anyway in the house.
Little did I know that the printed version would arrive two, I repeat TWO days before the ebook is released. Guess who is giving side eye to a nicely wrapped parcel now…

I will be reading with Harney & Sons Vanilla Comoro tea by my side and my baby in my lap. The good thing about her refusal to nap in the crib these last couple weeks is that it gives me an excuse to read while nap trapped! I’m so sad I can’t make the event in Lexington. It’s only an hour away but evening events and newborn babies do not mix! I hope they have a huge turnout. I told all my Lexington bookish friends about it.
I didn’t know if I’d like isekai, as i wasn’t familiar with it, but I really like This Kingdom. I got a copy a day early – the store didn’t want to give it to me (I’d paid when pre-ordering) but I kept talking and the owner said they just wouldn’t credit it until today. I was up late reading, but 400+ pages is a lot and I’m working on it again now.
It’s amazing. Will it be a full year until Maggie 2 is released??

But it did! The w*it DID kill me but I am Ginni the Undying because I just lived to die again the next time I thought of how loooooooong it was going to be. Then I died again when I woke up at 3:50 am this morning and tried to go back to sleep until I remembered that it was Maggie Day and gave up and picked up my kindle. And now I am dying again and again today because I am very very tired and my head is full of Maggie but my body is at work and I am not done reading.
Just started reading it!! love the portal fantasy speculations Maggie makes and of course, as a born book devourer and BDH member, I love the description of her love fantasy novels!
ahhhh I wish I had time in my life to read this right now. Will be saving it though for a day where I feel truly unstressed and it will be lovely 🙂

Here in NZ it’s the 1st April so got my e copy yesterday and settled in. Rationing myself for next two days though as on holiday after that and intend on enjoying the read then.
Finally got my Nook to work at 2AM; problem was a setting that was miss-set, that did not affect normal downloads.
So happy to hear the bug was fixed!

I have been reading with my cat. He just had a dental surgery – he’s totally fine – and is a boneless cuddler while he’s recovering. It’s like having an elegant black-and-white fur stole draped over me – one that purrs loudly. He’s a big fella (Maine Coon mix) and covers me crosswise my hips to my knees. It feels very appropriate.
Other staples include lemonade and Watergate Salad.

So I finished This Kingdom Will not Kill Me and now I need the next book but it’s not out. What to do so I don’t slip into an existential crisis? Will probably reread all the other books again, but when is the next Maggie book?
