We are doing the first trial run of This Kingdom Vellum Overlays. This is our chance to iron out shipping and logistical issues, so this first batch is limited to 10 sets. We felt that vellum needed a bit more with it, so we are offering a Vellum Media Envelope.
Vellum Media Envelope contains 6 gorgeous vellum prints of the character art by Helena Elias. These prints are 6 x 9 inches and are printed on 45 lbs vellum. Vellum is stiff and translucent, and tends to stay in the book.
The envelope retails for $24.99 with flat $9.99 shipping.
A word about this: we are seeing vellum overlays retail for between $4-$10. We are going with $4 per print for this run. We may up the price in the future to be around $6.

Hi Mod R, You may know this already but have both the Waterstone special Edition and the Owlcrate. The Waterstones special edition is 0.5cm smaller in one dimension, than the Owlcrate, so I don’t think the vellums will fit.

I have the Waterstone signed special Edition I can test. I already bought the vellum though ^^;
Comparing the sizes of the books. The Broken Binding and the signed Waterstones are about the same size. Both of them are slightly smaller than the Owlcrate and the American version. I have pre-ordered the last English special edition, but that obviously isn’t released yet.
I did the same lol. I think I’m just gonna get the US edition so it will fit, and buy the other kind the next run. I got the broken binding one, so I’m not sure how it will fit? I guess we’ll see! If worse comes to worse, I know my sister wanted her own copy of Maggie for her birthday, so I’ll just gift the book and vellum to her. She’d be thrilled lol.
I have the Waterstones edition. I also have the OC( plus several others). I plan on buying a set of vells and can test it on WS.
Any word on the 3rd US special edition (still showing as coming soon)? I assume not since it hasn’t been updated, but if I decide to grab that one instead of the regular hard cover I’m wondering if the vellum will fit that as well.

Wow, the Horde is fast. This came to my mind right now:
Faster than a speeding bullet. Able to read books in a single bound. Look behind the book! It’s a cat! It’s a plushie! It’s the Book Devouring Horde! (This is a Horde’s take on the original Superman TV series waaaayyyyy back in the day.)
When the general masses get our chance, I would buy the vellum pack even though my book is on an e-reader. Those are really nice pieces.

A patch reflecting Doran Arvel’s breastplate design would look awesome. The Demarr Family crest wouldn’t be bad either! As a septuagenarian I don’t buy hardcopies prints, etc. anymore, but I do put patches on my armored jackets. These would appeal.

Having worked with vellum back when I ran a theater organization, and having shipped costumes around the country from our costume shop, looking at the price of the gorgeous vellum overlays, the bookplates, stickers and such, plus the shipping – this whole package, even if the vellum sheets go up to $6 a print from $4, is a gift to the BDH from HA.

I’m Gen X, and my husband likes to joke that I survived many assassination attempts when I was a kid. But who among us hasn’t fallen out of a moving car when they were 5yo? Look. In re: cat behavior.
She’s got two Prime Directives going at the same time: she’s a Tortie and feral. Being in the way is her wanting to share in all the things you do. Since it took Miss Batty a long time to choose to be in the house, she has an exponential need to make up for lost time. I had a feral Tortie/Tabby mix, and she was insistent on sitting on my lap whenever the lap appeared – including in the bathroom. “You’re taking a pee? Fantastic! I’ll just perch here until you’re done!!” 🤭🐈
This is a perfect Tortie story and matches the antics of my own Torties and Torbie.

Related, if you have pets, please make arrangements for them in case anything should happen to you. Ash belonged to a friend who died unexpectedly. There was no plan and nobody in his family lived in the area or knew what to do with her.

I’m in the US but ordered my special edition copy from a store called Blackwell’s back in January- it has the dark teal sprayed edge with a floral pattern on it. Is that the same as the Waterstone edition? I’m sorry if that is a silly question- I’ve got zero knowledge about UK book store chains. I just bought the prettiest version of the book that was being shown at the time, and now I’m trying to figure out if these gorgeous inserts will fit my version of the book or if I’m going to need to buy a US version too. LOL

I know getting things out of the US is ridiculously hard, especially at the moment. But if you ever do iron on transfers sized for t-shirts or tote bags that could be posted in a hard back envelope with (fingers crossed) minimal trouble and expense, I would give epic bear hugs (and all my money) to whoever on the team wanted one.

Love this idea! But take a step further. Business card-like size to distribute to people when they ask about my shirts. Wore my dryer vent shirt to the farmers market Saturday and shared the blog site with one of the vendors because of their curiosity about the shirt. Would have been great fun to share a Horde Business Card. Realize this is a completely niche perspective and pricey but throwing out their anyway. Now that I think about it a bit more may check with Staples to make some. Is there a protocol to follow if I do that so I don’t get cross ways with anyone?

A bookplate is a sticker with the author signature. There is one in the middle of the picture above 🙂
I have the Waterstones edition with painted edges, which I love. Am I too late for a complimentary vellum print one? Clover or anyone would be appreciated. I’d buy the whole package if it was still available. Fingers crossed!!!

I’ve got Owlcrate and The Broken Binding editions. They look the same size to me. Does anyone know if the inlays fit both? In my case it’s not relevant, but for my friend it is.
Agreed to have this available for non-US customers who were/ are able to get the editions the vellums would fit.

I have the Owlcrate version and both the US (teal edges hardcover) and UK editions (decorated edges hardcover). I believe the vellums would fit the first two.
For “other”, if we are only discussing artwork, then a magnet of Sushi. A plushie of her would be awesome!

I really wanted the vellum. Will there be another print run? Also, I’m in Canada. It wasn’t clear to me if the “US only” meant that they would only fit the US editions or if they would only be shipped within the US.
I don’t know how viable it is, but I am in need of a new keychain, and a Sushi keychain would be amazing.
So…for those of us that don’t haunt the blog and rely on the newsletter…will these be restocked or printed to order in the future? Since they sold out *so fast* finding out a day later is heartbreaking.

You are doomed. The feral cat is in the house. Outside feral cats maybe rehomed but now you have an inside cat. Our feral cat population is now extremely limited because of coyotes. We used to encourage them to be barn cats to help with the rodent situation.
I finished Maggie’s story yesterday. When it was released, I was in the middle of a series I wanted to finish before starting a new book. I read it in 2 days. It has been a long time since I read a book in 2 days. It was sooooo good. I need to know what happens to Maggie and what Solentine is up to. Is he the author of the books and also undying???? Darn it, you so rock it as a writing team. It was just fabulous! Thank you!
The cat reminds me of my cat Rascals, who passed in 2022 at the ripe old age of 17. She was a torti, too, and half-feral when I got her as a kitten. She was also demented, possessed by a demon, and would occasionally parkour off walls and furniture. I miss that crazy cat.

Love all the quotes on the sticker designs for an embroidered patch….
A removable car sticker or magnet aka something I can put on the glass of the back of my SUV or on the metal of the back of the car and remove if necessary. Many sayings would work for this from all the books.
As an aside I currently have “Tell your dog I said Hi!” (from We Rate Dogs) and dive shop (Kohala Diving) stickers on my SUV back window, so I think anything House Andrews would fit nicely 🙂 Thank you!!

I would love Sushi on a 2×4 embroidered patch! I have several bags with velcro spots that size (and the velcro backing I can apply myself) but most of the patches I have are 2×2

The patch idea I had was of the moons, something I was disappointed about the cover is it had one big moon but in the book there are multiple!

– Media notebook. I don’t collect physical books but would love a TKWNKM art notebook / journal to jot down questions & thoughts in as I’m working my way through the series. Inclusion of maps (continent, Rellas, Kaia Toren) would be ideal. Family crests / heraldry would also be great. Monster illustrations (Drezmur, Dursan, Corpse-devouring fish, Ribs Bazaar ribs donator, Sushi, Villian, Honey etc.), weapon imagery (Everard sword, Sollentine daggers etc.).

On an unrelated note, I just came across a South Korean movie (Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy) whose concept has similarities to TKWNKM (ie fan sucked into story univ) but it leans a lot more into LitRPG tropes.
Also wondering if the vellum will fit the Tor UK version sold by Blackwell’s (and hoping to purchase from next batch). So excited by and thankful for this project!

I have a UK Waterstone signed edition and a Polish edition. I compared them, and the Polish one is much smaller, so the vellum definitely won’t fit 🙁

These are gorgeous, and I’m so tempted to buy a pack! But I’ve always been hesitant about character art because the way I (and every reader) pictures the character is personal, almost sacred.
I would love some vellum overlays of Candace Slater’s art, if she and IA are willing. Placing images of the landmarks within the books would just be *chef’s kiss*
