    • The People were an option. I played around a bit and got them and… okay, I can see that? Aptitude tested into a fucked up and coercive organization at an early age? Yeah, I can see that pretty easily, actually!

  71. I am a Knight. And I’m okay with it. We know Andrea and we knew Mauro. I admire both characters. Kate was partially raised by Greg Feldman and I even have a bit of admiration for Nick Feldman, who sacrificed his own identity for the greater good to only be betrayed by Moynihan. There may be issues in the order, but there are also a lot of good people in there too.

    • Same here. I thought it was odd at first but now it makes a bit more sense.

    • Same here! Biologists FTW! I think that maybe they didn’t create the biohazard unit as an option in the quiz, though. Perhaps they were thinking more in terms of the factions of power in Atlantan society? So the biohazard unit would be fairly minor and easily overlooked. I’d have loved to get that result though. I suppose they just group academics and intellectuals with the People.

      • first Im freaking now I live Brazil so I never meet any of my favorite authors (we have one local urban fantasy author) so I never get any contact in the conventions it’s so sad and this blog is only one of the ones I stalk I mean follow that an author answered me

        second is hard for me to type couse I have a mild dyslexia and even have studied english since childhood I make basic writing mistakes (god bless google translate editing function) so when the mighty ones find me worthy of replying that make it big

        thirdly being a 29 years old unemployed makes me by logic under pleb couse cant buy new books and have to borrow so since cant be part of the ones that say that are pre ordering (higher social class in the book devouring horde) being answered elevate me (in the book devouring horde) and just make me happy

  103. Another Knight. On the one hand… okay, so I am in fact a member of a martial order. But, OMG, this is such a terrible idea ??? I could provide… well, I was going to say three, but probably rather more, references for people who have supervised me and who will explain that I’m not the best about following orders?* And I try to avoid deciding what is right for other people unless it’s in an emergency situation and we don’t have time to talk about it. I just don’t see this working out well (especially with the history of epic fights with my superiors when I didn’t think they were treating people well…) Maybe a cynical (or is that deranged) ex-knight now working for the PAD.

    * I mean, I get along well with all of them still, and most, maybe all, have put me into leadership positions.

      I filled this out while at the Atlanta airport while waiting in line to speak with someone at the gate while freaking out that I would miss my connecting flight and not get home until Saturday or Sunday. It is after midnight, so it is Friday, but I made it home. A small distraction is totally awesome.

    • The People aren’t fond of casinos, either, I suspect, but it’s an efficient way to get funds and the large number of civilians is a useful shield against attack in the chaos of the post-technology world.

    • I’m in PAD too. Wow, I didn’t think I was that much of a law and order sort. I’ve always felt good laws are worth following but not all laws are good ones so one must decide if the consequences are worth breaking the bad laws.

    • The Order? Really? I don’t want to be in the Order either. I want to be in the pack. Maybe I can retake the test a few times to change the results. Unfortunately, I think that my first answers were good ones. Furry love is furry love and pedigrees don’t matter. You buy a good car for a good price and then, taking care of it the whole time, you drive it until the wheels fall off from old age because a shiny car does not get you there any faster than a rust one. When you give a party, it is about people, not stuff. And there is a right and a wrong for every part of life. Why can’t that attitude be in a pack?

  455. A Knight of The Order, although the only way I got my designation was to answer 4 questions that don’t apply to me. For example, I would never throw a party and have booze at it. I would call a cop if I saw a burglar, because the last time I confronted someone with my sward, he grabbed it and broke it over his knee (plastic has some good uses, but not for swards). And my perfect pets are my big silk trees. You can leave them alone in the house for days at a time, they don’t need to be fed, or walked, they don’t create a mess (just dust them now and again), they provide comfort just by being there, and they never judge or demand attention.
    P.S. It’s Friday, so Refresh…Refresh… Refresh…and like the man said, “Dude, Where’s My Krahr?”

  457. Had a hard time choosing as some of the answers don’t fit me. 1st go round I got the Order and then, after changing the answers that didn’t really apply to me, got The Pack. Evidently I prefer some structure in my family.

    1. Laws must be obeyed as long as they don’t conflict with higher law.
    2. Guy breaking into the store – sneak up behind him and cosh him over the head. Punching in the face loses element of surprise.
    3. You see your best friend’s spouse making out with another person. Answer: none of the above. Walk over, greet them pleasantly and introduce yourself as friend of the spouse – wait for response.
    4. When deciding to take a job: (descending order) (this is not a pick one kind of question)
    a. Is it legal
    b. Does it pay well
    c. What are the consequences
    d. Is it intellectually stimulating
    e. Will it benefit my family
    f. Will it benefit the world
    5. When throwing a party, I provide a room, some food, and all else is BYoB – but moderation is encouraged, and Everclear and koolaid will get you invited out – as will anything illegal.
    6. The perfect pet is anything with fur and enough intellect to respond to attention.
    7. Favorite computer game is building sims, but MMORP is ok too – especially with witty friends — or, in other words, role playing the game makers didn’t plan.
    8. Most useful subject in school is reading – all else follows from there. (And you didn’t list it.)
    9. A parent must provide ways for a child to develop, and provide a reasonably safe space to do it in.
    10. Favorite car – starts when you turn the key, goes from point A to point B, and has plenty of room to haul people and stuff.

        Not my world? Well, only when I’m not reading the books. One of the beautiful parts about reading is that it has two parts (just like any art form): 1.) the part where the author(s) created the world and wrote about the parts they know, and 2) the part where the reader’s active imagination participates in the story.

        #8. Now, do note that Kate values literacy and other learning because she made every effort to get Julia into school. #9. Kate does loves her adopted daughter, and does her best to make the world safe for her. It’s hard, just like it is hard for any parent.

        #10. Kate’s favorite mount is a mule. Sensible.

        #5. That is from personal experience. I don’t recall Kate throwing a lot of parties, just attending more or less hostile Pack events.

        #2. Punching in the face is a big predators response — Curran maybe. But if you are a Rat, say, it’s a mistake — especially if you are only getting in one blow.

        #1. Laws are usually in place for a reason. The kind that keeps you from running over people on crosswalks or keeps you from getting killed because you went outside the compound or visited Unicorn Lane at night. ONLY the ones that violate Higher Law (which sadly do occur) need to be broken.

        AND what’s the fun of sticking to the format for a favorite world? For the time I am reading, the book is my reality — so much more fun to be there than in the real world. Escapism? OH, you bet!

        And, just for the record, I’m glad you love the books, too. Your response clearly shows that.

  475. Got the Pack, who are very cool, but I wondered if I was on the edge of something else. So, I went back and changed one answer and got the Coven. Went back and changed a different singe answer and got the Order. As suspected, I am very in between many things.
