    I am rereading Arrows of Change from Honor Raconteur. My nightstand is a mixture of all things essential to surviving the nightly terror, lamp, snacks, water bottle, books and cat treats to bribe the source of terror.

    I try to keep my nighstand clutterfree so I only have the usual stuff on it. Lamp, alarm clock (I need more than one), chapstick, hand creme, glasses when I’m asleep. Mug with water or cold tea.

  39. I rarely listen to audiobooks, but I recently went through Patricia Briggs Bloodbound, book 2 (I think) of the Mercy Thompson series. It was fun. I think I like audiobooks books better as a reread rather than the first time through.

    If you mean books I’m about to start a classic Rider at the Gate C J Cherryh. I got a copy of the second book in a secondhand sale and had to find the first so I could read in order 😉

  45. In the USA and just finished reading this Kingdom shall not kill me and found it to be wonderful. My only disappointment is in having to wait for the second volume. I also think Maggie is being a little hard on the sleepless Duke.

Elena the Brave, by Julie Mathison, is on my “virtual” nightstand – i.e. my phone’s reading app. It purports to be a YA book, probably because it’s a coming-of-age tale, but got a Kirkus starred review, and I enjoyed it just fine as an adult. It’s set mostly in “Old Rus” and shares a lot of folklore with HA’s Sanctuary, so I felt extra smart about being a bit ahead on the background while reading it. 🙂
