    Considering people from different countries have trouble pronouncing Marjolein I’d probably be called something like “Marie” if I were transported to the world of Lord of the Rings. Definitely not Mary because that’d be way too close to Merry, flattering it may be 😉

  32. I’m from the US. I can’t wait for the book!! If I was in a world like Maggie, I think I would go for more of a fantasy name. When I was younger, I wrote little fantasies where I spelled my name backwards and added some extra letters, and thought that was the best thing ever, ha. Erin –> Nirienda. Maybe that. Maybe something more exotic.

    It‘s a name I suggested ages ago for a swordsman in the (then) very far off Maggie. I love it for its Nordic, Slavic and Germanic roots and the onomatopoeia. To me it sounds like the flick of a blade coupled with a sigh. And, as it turns out, the name’s etymology highlights the same traits Maggie makes her own in the extended preview: courage, resilience and leadership.
