    Also known as “that careful old dude who lives a quiet, comfortable life in a nice city where he has a shop that specializes in selling fancy equipment at extortionate prices to all the eager and reckless young Adventurers before they rush out to die.”

    In most fantasy or historical settings, the swordsmiths, armourers, sutlers, chandlers and similar purveyors of goods to the adventurer or mercenary trade generally don’t have a lot of repeat clientele. But there is a neverending supply of fresh young idiots to outfit for their own one-way trips to … uhm … Fame and Riches and Glory.

    Name: Veronica Capwell (it is the name I always use for my “alternative” self. I always loved the name Veronica and was going to name my first girl child that. But the universe decided that I would not be giving birth to a child so instead I adopted 4 from foster care and they came with their own names. So now I use this one for all my fantasy adventures)

    I have inserted Veronica into Kate and Inkeeper and although it took me a couple of re reads I have finally found a place for her in HL.

    Honestly, I’d probably just go by my name, Rachel, because I’d worry that I’d forget I was supposed to be going by another name 🤣
    Also, most of those books don’t have a Rachel 🤔
    I know it’s kind of boring. but if you’re busy trying to stay alive, keeping something familiar might be necessary for your own sanity!
