The Facebook fan group recently had a lot of fun speculating over the possible title of the second Maggie the Undying book.

Ilona confirmed in the comments that the title will follow this format:

This REDACTED Will Not REDACTED Me

Two blanks to fill and one challenge for the blog comment section!

Fill in the blanks and leave your title in the comments. Serious guesses, ridiculous guesses, ominous guesses, and titles that would make Steve proud and the editors concerned – all are welcome in the comments.

This is Only a Horde Game

House Andrews and Tor, the publishers, have decided the actual title through official publishing processes. It will be announced publicly at the right time. Nothing suggested here will become the title because it attracts the most chalant support or is repeatedly submitted in ALL CAPS. Ahem.

But even if we don’t get to name the book, we are still padding our Horde marketing CV! Before the final Hidden Legacy title was announced as Ruby Fever, we knew it would follow the gemstone + fire word formula. The BDH rose magnificently to the guess challenge and produced such enduring classical suggestions as:

  • Pearlescent Phlogiston
  • Turquoise Twinkles
  • Chrysoberyl Conflagration
  • Lapis Lazispalooza

Shockingly, none of these has been claimed by another author yet, but we’ll keep trying. Interested publishing professionals may contact the Horde through its official accounts. Serious offers and mango cupcakes-based royalties only.

In the meantime, give us your best suggestions for Maggie 2!

    “This tower will not intimidate me” I feel like the mage tower will have a fairly large role in one of the books as much as it’s talked about.

    I like Empire because we know the Crimson Empire is a threat. And maybe book 3 will use “world” as a broader geographic term.

    • No, this is a rogue post I did to distract me from the heat 😅. I have no prize approvals.

        • yeah Texas weather without air conditioning and buildings built to retain heat. People there struggle in 80s F temps, 100+ would be like 114 in Texas. Paris hit 104 that felt like 114.

        • In March, my husband wanted to return to our home in San Antonio Texas, from our 4+ year stay in Germany, at the end of June. I told him, “No I don’t want to send the summer in the Texas heat.” We comprimised to leave at the end of September. Now the heat is worse here, than in Texas.

          Germany’s winter was long this year. 60’s into June. Then, bam!, 90’s. 104 yestereday. 100 as I type this at 1:30pm.

      • It happens. By late afternoon my brain has melted. Went in for a haircut Monday and instead of our usual 20 minute discussion of our current family life, the stylist and I just greeted each other, spent the bulk of the time in restful silence, and said our goodbyes and good wishes.

        Sending best wishes for moderate, seasonable weather across the puddle.

      • Try to stay cool. My niece swears by her neck fan. In the 1930’s in Peoria people would go up to a park overlooking the river and sleep outside there for the breeze. Our PBS station did a documentary on Grand View Drive which mentioned it. Not a possibility in modern times! Thank-you for all your work and attentions!

      • The heat will do that. Even with the air conditioning, I still have to put a washcloth around the back of my neck and another on my face to cool off.

        Heat is brutal. Ugh.

        • check the humidity level in your house. AC doesn’t really dehumidify well ( a myth I used to think) , and you may want to get a dehumidifier for your primary living space.

    Okay, maybe haremvirate is not a word, but it should be: A triumvirate (from the Latin trium (three) + vir (man)) was a three-man ruling council near the end of the Roman Republic. So shouldn’t a haremvirate be what you get when you have the Sleepless Duke, Doran Arvel, Silveren, Solentine, Damaes and gods only know who else all chasing after Maggie?
